    Found you when looking for an underwear how to. Have since rewatched that playlist at least three times and all your other videos and shorts. Thank you for all the helpful information and sharing of knowledge 🤗 have begun my block.
    Was just looking at your waxed fabrics the other day and thinking what I would make with them. What perfect timing 😜

    I love the leather-like look and feel of some waxed cottons. I have a piece of gunmetal metallic waxed cotton that I’ve been meaning to use to make a camera bag but have also been thinking of acquiring some black waxed cotton to make a motorcycle style jacket. Great content thanks.

      I kept thinking of a bikers style jacket with waxed cotton myself :) But the weather & styling I had in mind doesn't include rain. If you do make one, I'd love to see :)

    I dont think Ive ever heard of waxed fabric. I do know of waced thread. I may have seen a few work jackets that were waxed around 1960. But I think some tarps and tents were made with it. Of course. I live in South Mississippi.

    What is the barrier lining made of? Polyester?
    Is it not possible to use just another layer of cotton instead? I really dont want to use plastic so much.

    • @arkdefo
      @arkdefo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100% cotton with special wax-proof coating. As we say in the video, we didn't get any specs beyond the fact that all fabrics are 100% cotton, including linings. We don't sell polyester and never will 👍

    What is the coated liming coated with. The whole point of me using wax cotton is to avoid pfas so if its a coated lining its pikely coated with something undesirable. Also googling this term comes up with many materials a lot of them are for building houses. What is this lining you are talking about ehat naterial what chemicals etc.

    • @maryrosemakes

      I found a few examples googling "barrier lining oilskin/waxed cotton" and they seem to be coated with "fluorocarbon" which is less than ideal I agree

    • @sempi8159
      @sempi8159 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes exactly! The point of using waxed cotton is to not use plastic forever materials....

    • @Padraigp
      @Padraigp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @sempi8159 yeah it was hard to find out what material she's talking about because she doesn't day exactly what it is jus coated lining.so a lot of coated building lining came up and pipes and just coat lining...shes very vague or maybe I didn't understand something but she doesn't say if it's nylon or what... I wouldnt be bothered if I need a nylon lining or other plastic of pfas.

      @Padraigp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @maryrosemakes oh yeah screw that may as well just buy a bloody gortex coat. Flouracarbons I came across recently in a furniture polish that coated the stairs in grease that was impossible to remove. It was useless sprosuct. And labelled beeswax polish. My mom bought it to be good and we all love beeswax. Sigh. Everything is a rip off and a con these days. I'll just buy a waxed jacket like they have made for hundreds of years with a caplets around the top ... and they have got cotton linings and last decades. I'll buy an ancient one theyrve probably started using petrol in the newer ones.

    • @arkdefo
      @arkdefo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ElenaHarashchuk we only had a rewax and a reproof spray. The wax was for the waterproof jacket fabric and the spray was a weather resistant application. We didn’t have a waterproof spray.

      In Danish a flat felled seam and a French seam are both called French seam.

      @@arkdefo kudos for being able to communicate and therefore teach in a language that is not your mother tongue 🙌. In English, we use 'French seam' to describe stitching the seam first, wrong sides together, within the seam allowance. Then pressing, trimming and finally stitching the seam right sides together, along the seam line, with the seam allowance encased. Such as you might use for delicates or very fine fabric.
