Just bought one from Peter, and I'm really impressed with it. Very tough double kydex. Well drilled, measured, and finished. Came with plenty of hardware Was originally going to secure his adapter to my waist with techlock, but his leather loop is much more comfortable under pack hip belt, and it is very heavy duty leather. The techlock made the whole apparatus too rigid. The leather /kydex combo allows for much better movement and flex as you move. I have complete confidence in this product. Leg strap was worth the extra $$. Much more comfortable than 550 chord. I hike long distances and the wide flat strap secured better to my leg. Peter is very nice and mailed out product very fast.
The spine-edges of the GSO are rounded for comfort and durability, they will not cut into a ferro-rod. You could use the blade edge if necessary OR the company offers to grind a "ferro-notch" in the spine for use as a striker. I prefer the round-edge spine and to carry an alternate striker.
Good idea with the belt clip. Will allow me to carry mine scout ( when it gets here, lol). I use kiln dried red oak as a testing media, some hard stuff. You sure have some nice tools man!
Hey Brother...wanted to say I love your adaptation, I don't think I'd use the leg wrap, but the dangler system you've developed is pure genius - I'll take four of them please!! I've got a 3.5 on the way and a 4.1,5.1, &7/7 ordered via their recent Starter program - so those three will all be the newer next generation designs of the respective models. The only thing that surprises me is that Guy didn't change the sheaths or include a similar dangler option as just about all of the GSO users comment about the uncomfortable high ride.
Hey brother. I bought a bunch of your dangler mods for the Survive Knives Kydex sheaths. I need about 5 more of them. I don't see how to PM you. If you can get back to me with cost I would appreciate it. God bless. John
+Christian Sukkar Lo Christian I do not have the 7/7, I opted for the 10 instead. The 7/7 was designed as a combat/utility knife and is much bigger than I require around the homestead, bigger than i would normally use as a "survival knife" when out in the woods, etc. I recently acquired a Swamp Rat Ratweiler that is similar in size to the 7/7 and cannot find good use for it. *shrug* YMMV The 10 is larger and functions as a heavy machete which is quite useful de-limbing fallen trees while also competent at trimming back thorns and foliage - it is at my side frequently. The 5.1 is an excellent "survival knife" size - capable of handling some larger tasks and also excelling at smaller ones. It is about as big as I would carry hunting/hiking unless I knew I would need something larger ahead of time. It can do light-chopping as well as carving, as well as dressing/skinning/butchering game - too big for EDC for me, but an excellent "all around" knife.
+Christian Sukkar Yes, I am still offering the sheath extensions : www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1363685-UKE-2-0-Universal-Kydex-Extension-REVISED-and-IMPROVED!!

Great idea - just got my GSO 5.1 a few days ago, I might have to set up something like this.
