Finally - A vid of my long awaited GSO-12 in the wild!!! Great to see it turned out to be as effective as I was hoping it would be. Thanks for sharing all your carry ideas, especially the shoulder strap as that makes a nice transition from being strapped to the side of a pack during hiking to be mobile for camp chores. Also, Kudos for having the balls to throw it.... I don't think I would be that brave to risk the knife!
The first ones came out way before I got mine, and they have been trickling out a few at a time. I honestly didn't think I'd like it as much as I do! Here's hoping yours comes soon so you can try it out! And thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review chamdar, youre the only review of it actually being used. I unfortunately missed out on this run. 😪 but hopefully they will do a second run so i can get my hands on one of these beauties. Again thank you for the great review and for being gracious enough to actually give a practical use review instead of just putting it on a table and talking about it lol.
Thanks very much for watching and commenting! Mine was from the Starter Campaign some years ago and I was very pleased to finally receive it, and I am very pleased with the result as well! The thing is a beast. Best wishes!
@@Chamdar17 awesome thats what i like to hear. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the gso 5. It was the very first pre order they did back in 2012-13. And thank god it was before everything went crazy wait times wise. So i got it when they said i would no issues. I can't imagine waiting for years for a production knife that isn't like a randall or something lol.
Very nice review. Thank you. You cut through that log in 9 chops, very nice. Liked the information on different carrying options. Ordered 2 SK last week but longer not available right now. Your video really increased my interest.
Thanks for watching! That one was ordered several years ago, took a long time for them to get up to faster production like they have now, but I still have a few on order. Every one of their knives that Ive had has been great quality, imo, so I look forward to the others I am waiting on. Best wishes, and here's hoping they get yours to you swiftly!
Good LUCK. Apparently they farm out there blades and dont do a good job at forecasting or informing about schedules…. I got a refund after over a years of waiting ….
It's a little late... But you probably have heard of Armatus Carry. I have their sheath for my ESEE 4 that I ordered with soft loops for horizontal carry. I also have their dangler that works perfectly with my Junglas II and Spyderco Waterway sheaths. I'm anxiously waiting for my GSO-8 and I'm sure the Armatus Carry dangler will also work with it. You should check it out. BTW, You got tons of balls to throw your GSO-12 like that! Awesome! Cheers...
Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm not sure when Armatus came out with his set-up, but I've been using and offering my Universal Kydex Extension for a long time, it's my own design and works with darn near everything! My 2.0 video on it from a while back is here: th-cam.com/video/CeVde5LUubU/w-d-xo.html It's very inexpensive, just $10 USD +s/h. It has some features not found on other designs, but as long as you have something that works for you 👍 Throwing the GSO-12 definitely takes some practice, it's a beast of a tool! Once I had the distance:force ratio down on the spin, it would stick with devastating efficacy 😎 Best wishes that they get those GSO-8s through production quickly for you! I'm sure the Armatus device will be able to attach.
@@Chamdar17 Hey thanks for replying! That was real quick! I'm definitely going to view your video on the UKE 2.0. Armatus Carry have been around for quite some time now. For reference, I ordered mine during a 'Starter' campaign in 2015! I got lucky with mine being one of those completed in 2021 - 6 year wait. But it came!!! Survive! has had production issues from the get-go, timelines have always been an issue, but Guy has been trying to keep folk updated on progress via videos and now more transparency than ever. He has not given up on making and shipping out everything that folk order, which I find commendable, and everything I HAVE received (ignoring timeframe) has been of excellent quality. The wait is not for everyone though, to be sure. But the 12 is a wicked beast! 8)
Thanks for the reference...Guy stated the other day he would have his entire backlog done in two months...heard that before, will see! In 2019 I also ordered a 5.1 which was in final stages of production and was estimated to ship in 30-60 days. Still waiting for that one too...
I know I’m late to the party. But will these even make a come back for another run for pre-order? Amazing blade, to be respected, careless draw and you can seriously get injured.
I think the owner said they would be focusing on smaller blades for a while now, they do have quite the backlog, so I'm not sure when or if these will make it into production again...
I actually sell a dangler designed to fit just about any sheath, the UKE 2.0, you can find it among my other videos. It is height and angle adjustable and fits a wide variety of attachments as well. However, I actually like wearing a sling with this particular knife, simple and convenient for my use. Thanks for watching!
Well, I never hit a rock or armored steel plate so there wasn't much to worry about :) The tip is in perfect condition. I have other videos throwing Survive! knives, including the disco'd 2.7 in CPM-20CV (not considered a tough steel), with no ill-effect on the integrity of the tool. Survive!'s edge-geometry with Peter's HT is sufficient to ensure durability of these tools. Thanks for watching and the comment!
The GSO-12 is made by Survive! Knives, I am not sure if you can still order them on their website but mine was from a pre-order years before they ever got made as a way of 'investing' in the company. There are a lot of folks still waiting on delivery of their orders, as the GSO-12 only get finished out a few dozen at a time amidst a bunch of other models. You may be able to find one on the secondary market, but I haven't gone looking. Best wishes and thanks for watching!
Hey. How you got this knife? I ordered a GSO 4.5. I waited a year now for it. In some Emails they said that the GSO is shipping out now. A few months later they say that the knife is in sharpening process and will be shipping out in November 2021. Now at the homepage they say that the knife is in sharpening process. AGAIN! WTF! Then I wrote an Mail to them and I said i want my money back. They answered: Order is canceled and is refunded. BUT they never payed me my money back. So they are scammers?🤷♂ How you got this knife then?
No, they are not scammers, never have been. The 4.5s are shipping out, per their website, lots been seen in people's hands though I didn't order one myself. Each knife is sharpened before shipping. If you canceled your order, then you'd get your refund. If you doubt they sent it, ask for proof of the refund submission, they will have the confirmation of the transaction. Each knife seen was purchased 'pre-order' and took many months if not years to finally arrive though in each case I was well aware of the causes of delay and many were purchased with that expectation in mind. Once the 4.5s sell out, it may be a while before you see them available again. The new V-4.5 is just starting production and won't be delivered for many months hence. Survive! is not your regular production company, most of their offerings are pre-order, you pay in advance and wait. But the quality you receive is well beyond most production companies, so whether they are worth the wait is of course up to you. Best wishes!
