Survive! Knives new finish and heat-treatment, CPM-3V, field test

Guy Seiferd of Survive! Knives sent me a test-blade for the new finish and heat-treatment of CPM-3V in his product-line. The knife is an older-spec GSO-4.1 but the steel has a peened finish and the HT-protocol aims to increase rockwell hardness will also improving corrosion resistance. The slip stick piece that you replaced is designed for easy mounting and fast release from your lbe shoulder strap or a military backpack shoulder strap
You misunderstand, the piece I am offering is an alternative to the upper fabric, it is a stiff kydex platform permitting vertical carry that mounts using the factory slip-stik just like the factory horizontal piece. Gerber recently began offering a similar piece with their 'Principle', but my design (which predates that by several years) is specific to the Strongarm. You can find a link to images in the video details. Thanks for watching!
Well done
This looks fantastic, are you still manufacturing/selling these?
Yup, still producing/selling them, drop me an email and I can send you my updated price list and links to imgur albums, chiral.grolim@gmail.com

Wow. Just saw this for the first time. Do you do other stuff. If you don’t, that mind needs to be making things. That is a great and fairly simple fix. That is the type of thing that should have been thought of. They did so much with that sheath, I’m surprised they didn’t do something like this. 😮
Very nice!
Solid video pal, your mods are fantastic. Does the scout carry, horizontal attachment not come with the knife at all?
The factory scout/horizontal attachment is included with the knife but it isn't great, designed to hold the sheath itself horizontal but not the KNIFE+sheath, the weight of the knife handle is not supported. I did design a custom kydex piece that improves upon this, just haven't made a video of it. Feel free to email me if interested in purchasing either this vertical attachment or the custom horizontal piece. And thanks for watching and commenting!
Does the UKE work with the Esee Izula plastic sheath? How can I order a UKE?
Hi, thanks for commenting! Yes, the UKE does fit the Izula, however it is rather bulky on such a small knife. I can make you a custom version that better suits the knife. I think it was you to whom I just replied via email, but if not then please email me and we will get you squared away. Thanks again!
@@Chamdar17 Hi. I am the one you also replied by email. I’ll respond by email moving forward. Thank you.
Excellent craftsmanship. Makes all the difference for this knife. So much better than what Gerber includes. Very pleased to have firesteel attached also. Thank you!
I like the clip adapter you put on, great job.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! They are available to anyone for as cheap as I can manage.
Yep I don't like how it hangs on vertical position.
Just got my gerber strongarm and i am definitely going to need this
Crazy cool inventer you are. I hope you protected your intellectual property. I just ordered the strong arm and will be using it in the scout carry configuration and mounting my IFAK over the top of it. You seem to be very adept and innovative I have been trying to mount a pancake style sheath on a battle belt in the small of my back and mounted a molle mounted IFAK over it and have it be nice and clean looking. Come up with a plan and I will pay you for it. Love your video.
Just sent a reply to your email, I look forward to helping you get all set up!
@@Chamdar17 How much ?
@@kevinmonterrosa5670 My list in the video details is pretty much up-to-date, I ask $8 USD for the kydex piece and have belt-clips and handle-straps and leg-straps available for cheap as well, but it's +$6 for shipping within the US and extra for international.
Received my Strongarm adapter today, and it's AWESOME! I highly recommend this over the nylon that comes with the stock sheath. They are 💯 worth it.
Got a Strongarm for my birthday, and one of the buttons on the nylon broke while I was attaching it to my belt. I am pissed still goibg to send it back but thinking Im going to order some of the mods, very nice looking!
Just bought a strong arm and was not happy with the way it mounted to belts. Now I gotta get one of these crazy great idea.
drop me an email, chiral.grolim@gmail.com as listed in the video details, I'd be happy to get one to another customer!
That's great!!
Are these still available? I've sent you an email but haven't had a response
YES, these are still available, I'm getting to your email right now. Warning, international shipping is stupid expensive, sorry about that :(
I expected shipping to NZ to be pricey. No worries, I've ordered. Look foward to hearing back 👍🏼
Received in New Zealand today. Cheers 👍🏼
You didn’t strap it right, you use both and it can be hung vertically and secure 😂
with the handle-retention strap in place, it is relatively secure, yes, but it is far from ideal. It is even more secure if you add a leg-strap as well. But with this little upgrade, you don't need either to keep it from flapping around on your side, and there are numerous other advantages as well. I hope you buy one from me to try sometime, it could change your whole carry experience for the better :) Gerber took my advice (partly) and went this route with their more recent slip-stik sheath on the Principle.
How do i order
just send me an email chiral.grolim@gmail.com, details are in the video description along with a list of other items I keep on hand. Thanks for watching!
I hope you patent this before they steal your idea
You can feed the belt loop into the large frame by unbuttoning the double buttons then fit into the large frame and attach the double buttons. It becomes secure to your side as part of the design. This attachment was not seen on this video.
The wide part of the nylon does not fit through the sheath, only the narrow part fits. You can unbutton the wide strap to fit over a belt instead of just slipping your belt through it, but that does nothing to stabilize the knife+sheath as it is still hanging from only the narrow strap. You can use the handle-retention strap to better stabilize the knife against swinging, you could also use a leg-strap to stabilize the sheath. But with my attachment you need neither and can carry the knife in a wider variety of ways. I hope you buy one from me to try sometime, it could change your whole carry experience for the better :) Gerber took my advice (partly) and went this route with their more recent slip-stik sheath on the Principle.
Can you make me a vertical carry deal like you made yourself lol but really though?
Yes, just send me an email or check the video description. I offer this vertical carry option along with some other accessories to enhance carry of the Strongarm and other kydex-sheath knives as well. Thanks for watching!
What kind of leg strap is that? I'm looking for 1" wide adjustable leg straps for all my Kydex sheath knives.
I offer 1" wide poly-webbing leg-straps (it's actually 3' of webbing, lots extra for most folk), they come with a contoured side-release buckle that lets you adjust the length of the strap, and a slider to take up excess or better secure the webbing. If you are interested in any other accessories I keep on hand, just drop me an email, details are in the video description. Thanks for watching!
Will you sell me this
Yes! Send me an email and I'll get back to you with price/payment details, much of which is included in the video description already. And thank you for watching!

5 years later...Still waiting for delivery...
For reference, I ordered mine during a 'Starter' campaign in 2015! I got lucky with mine being one of those completed in 2021 - 6 year wait. But it came!!! Survive! has had production issues from the get-go, timelines have always been an issue, but Guy has been trying to keep folk updated on progress via videos and now more transparency than ever. He has not given up on making and shipping out everything that folk order, which I find commendable, and everything I HAVE received (ignoring timeframe) has been of excellent quality. The wait is not for everyone though, to be sure. But the 12 is a wicked beast! 8)
Thanks for the reference...Guy stated the other day he would have his entire backlog done in two months...heard that before, will see! In 2019 I also ordered a 5.1 which was in final stages of production and was estimated to ship in 30-60 days. Still waiting for that one too...

Wher can you get these Gso 12?
The GSO-12 is made by Survive! Knives, I am not sure if you can still order them on their website but mine was from a pre-order years before they ever got made as a way of 'investing' in the company. There are a lot of folks still waiting on delivery of their orders, as the GSO-12 only get finished out a few dozen at a time amidst a bunch of other models. You may be able to find one on the secondary market, but I haven't gone looking. Best wishes and thanks for watching!
Great idea sir! I've tried several diy versions of a dangler, but yours is clever. Well done
Thank you! I improved it a bit to accept more attachments and it has a more refined appearance now as well. I sell them over email, so if you are ever interested just drop me a line, and thanks again for watching and commenting!
Good video dude
Get a dangler for your sheath just a partial drop of about 3 inches.the pancake sheath is the best design
I actually sell a dangler designed to fit just about any sheath, the UKE 2.0, you can find it among my other videos. It is height and angle adjustable and fits a wide variety of attachments as well. However, I actually like wearing a sling with this particular knife, simple and convenient for my use. Thanks for watching!
Man I really like those options, just got my gerber strongarm in bdz1 steel yesterday, I love this thing, I started wearing it scout style, but I like all those other options of carry an really like those adapters.

Todd, sent you an email about a different option I could make you, but for the factory part you might just try calling Gerber to see if they could send you one. Otherwise, I know there are some 3d-printed options available as well on various online marketplaces. Thanks for watching!
Great product. It's not for me, though. I removed the wide webbing from my sheath and use the thin webbing exclusively when I use this around the yard/paddock. The reason being is that it is flexible, allowing me to sit on a deck chair comfortably without the knife digging into my side due to the stiffness of the sheath. However, I can see this being very practical when bashing through scrub hunting pigs and other food.
That's great! I was doing the same but someone on a forum asked about making a solid vertical-carry piece that could accommodate clips and tek-loks, so that is what inspired me to make this one and offer it to people. I try to make it as inexpensive as possible so someone who just wants the option doesn't have to blow a ton of money to do it. It does allow you to carry a bit lower drop-leg with a leg-strap if you want to, as well as to carry a bit higher and have it firmly mounted, but the flexibility of using just the thin strap is great for what you describe 👍 And that nylon fabric isn't going to break on you! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
@@Chamdar17 I love the work you've done on this mounting system. I might be able to get one after Christmas. After all, you can never have too many mounting options for your knife!
