My knowledge of cheap Chinese tyres is so good now, I'm considering entering Mastermind with it as my specialist subject.

Scrap, not worth the effort
"how far before 4 Chinese tyres see you in the ditch?"
"Yes"
"Correct"
Your taking the cars to the valeter's only to send them off to the scrapyard immediately aftwards is sort of like a final service before a funeral.
With 160,000 miles, a chequered mot history, hardly no service history, wheels, bodywork and a large bill at your mechanic's, I don't think it's worth it 😂 Hopefully there's someone out there that would like to do the work 🥴 Great video, Matt. Thank you
I'd flog it as a fixer upper to someone who can do the work themselves. It runs and has a clutch so it must be worth £700 on that basis.
Not worth the liability
If sold spares or repair and it must be tailored away then no liability.
How the car is removed makes no difference, what matters is declaring the faults. The law is about not deceiving consumers. Sold with that report from the mechanic no judge would rule against you in small claims. Whether you get an a hole client trying it on though is anyone's guess. No profit in it retail.
Scrap it or keep it rusting in the yard for parts. Not worth it. Someone will want to haggle down due to near side rear damage.
No way I’d invest in this car. So much neglect means it’ll haunt you with every imaginable fault.
Sell it spares or repairs as if someone can fix the mechanical issues themselves it's not that expensive to sort, pads, discs, a load of ball joints and a wiper motor along with a few part-worn tyres £300 tops
@@petersmith7126 Plus a cam belt.
I agree. Considering also it will probably need a timing belt as well. Easily have 1500 to 2k invested and sell it for about 2k.
did you miss a coma between way and i'd lol
Its a vehicle that you get and drive in into the ground invest 0 money, if it lasts 1 year you got your moneys worth
Best bit in this vid was the Jag as you entered the car wash! As for this car, turn it into Squashqai .
Really enjoyed your Mazda CX30 video the other day. Can we have more of those please. Pulled up beside one on the way to work this morning….you’re so right about the rough sounding engine!
I think he said rough on startup. I can hardly hear the engine on mine.
LOL They are smooth and virtually silent. Definitely not rough. They are a bit noisy on a cold start due the AWS (higher initial idle speed) but that disappears after about 6 or seven seconds. VW TSi engines are similar.
@@S-Ltd1000 head comment is a fake/BS comment!
I dont usually entertain paid promotions but after watching a fair few videos I decided I would use the 20% off and have a look if there was any skeletons on my car I didn't think there would be as I had used a similar thing a couple years ago, thankfully it got 4 green ticks but alarming it pinged up 3 recalls (not received any thing in the post ect) called up the main dealer and it's booked in for a steering module, a traction control update and an engine ECM reprogramming next week for free of course, for a £24 car check it was a massive win tbh.
£24 😂 car vertical very expensive
Dvla should tell you if any recalls on the check mot page
doesnt the government MOT check page show recalls for free?
The mot check page rarely shows vehicle recalls even if the they have been done. Which means it is up to the manufacturer to provide the government with the relevant recall information.
Take into account should have a major service with cambelt, water pump and fresh coolant/anti-freeze. Also change brake fluid. With the damage rear door and rear quarter might be best sell it for parts.
Crush it
I am now ninety and past my car bearing days. I’ve had many cars in the past but is only I’d known you in the past, you’re the one I’d go to for a used car
nissan tech here...
those engines have a habit of blowing oil filters off due to a faulty oil pump, so the engine is the best bit, even with that mileage, + the bonus is that intact plinth at rear...
its £200 to fix airbag, [worn out coupling behind the steering wheel], so, with the hitlist, deffo dead...
Hey bud. You know anything about the newer (probably not the latest) and their sensors going? Happy to pay you a little to understand what is going on. Cheers
@@coolbell1 i'm from UK, your posting looks like you are from elsewhere, but tell me anyway, i may be able to help a little
A replacement non gen clockspring is about £30 and half an hour or so to replace. Airbag sorted! Done a good few of them on my driveway, and I'm certainly no mechanic!
@@bazzaclarky7445 yep, replaced a few of those internet rotary couplings, airbag light goes out, but cruise control/radio does not work properly...
dealer parts work 100% of the time for every different version of QQ, + it is guaranteed for a year, parts + labour. sounds like you were lucky...
@paulriggers1558 lucky every time? Nah Mate. Just don't fall for the main dealer BS all the time. It's like the VAG timing belts that have always been 140k or 15 years life span, yet main dealers "advise" 5 year replacements. They're only interested in the bottom line, and profitability is king!
Haha weather strips on the Focus. Hanging out the door. So true.
Mileage plus costs - it's a scrapper Matt :)
One fewer Qashqai on the road can only be a good thing. Scrap it now.
😂
😂
There are still plenty of Golfs... Always at the beginning of a traffic jam...
On the flip side, that'll motivate Nissan to make more to replace them
We should have a Bank Holiday to tow and scrap pre-2020 Pukes
That bar at the bottom of the screen during the Car Vertical segment is really helpful. Thanks.
Air bag is a common problem. it's the squib in the steering wheel, not a big job.
Mine is showing constantly that seatbelts on the back are not fasten. its flash or gone depend on road bumps.
Or possibly an air bag module
5:24 “This side looks alright”
Here’s an idea:
Take a photo of this side, create a mirror image of it and, voila, the other side has been fixed. 🤪
It will have 2 steering wheels

When I look at the state some people's cars I just think you have to wipe your feet when leaving their homes.
Hi there. Greetings from the west of Ireland. I had a 2007 model, pre facelift. 1.6 petrol. Great engine from Nissan and not the Renault diesel. My wipers packed up and I had to replace the motor. Your mechanic may turn off the airbag light off but my guess is that it’ll reappear, like mine did. I had to replace the clockspring on the centre of the steering wheel. Second hand parts are not recommended because they will inevitably fail also, so I repaired with new. I ran it for another few years. It failed the NCT (MOT) on a corroded rear subframe. I had it welded but it only lasted a year and failed the following year, when I finally scrapped it. Testers in Ireland specifically examined the subframe as it was a known issue. If your car is from the NW of England, I suspect it’ll have similar issues due to the road salt. They were a fine car for their time, but are getting rare on the road now due to so many being uneconomical to repair. If I were you, I’d scrap that one. It’ll only break your heart!
Our district nurses often had Quashquais of around that era back in the day and they all said they were absolute rubbish on winter rural roads
How car can be "rubbish on winter rural roads"?
Surely it's down to the wrong type tyres, isn't it?
@@damcyk4 Thing with the Qashqai, especially the J10 though the J11 isn't great for it either, in inclement conditions like a damp twisty rural road it feels like it is on the edge - like it is about to get away from you due to the high centre of gravity and suspension setup, etc. while it actually handles it better than it feels it is quite unnerving.
People (or at least used to) tend to think of an SUV as something suited to using in more rural areas, etc. but stuff like the 4Motion Tiguan do that much more reassuringly. Sadly most of the mainstream "SUVs"/crossovers are just a regular car lifted a bit and if anything less suited to the kind of use you'd think an SUV was intended for.
Woman driver more like?
8:00 USDM Nissan Rogues from this era was also notorious for this‼️
What are they driving now?
That was a really good idea to keep it as a donor car. I would love to come and start stripping it for you and catalogue and store the parts on shelves.
Also, liked that video the other day where you did two cars, one OK and the other was scrap.
honestly, if it needs £600 of work, it's probably best to pass it on to someone else as a cheap run about who doesn't mind doing a bit of work on their car. clearly has a bit of life left in it yet, but being on 162k, its most likely not worth it for a car to retail
Can't retail it, break it or scrap it
Keep it alive & running!
Absolutely love these vids of cheap cars! I've an imaginary tick list for every cheap car video... Car vertical.. check.... Tyres.... Check... Reg plates... Check... You all know the rest 😂
6:27 In less than 5 minutes and a few quid you can spray off all the moss and dirt.
I don’t understand that people don’t even do that.
A full sized spare.........Heaven, I'm jealous.
I have a 2014 qashqai and I take great care of it when I bought it it belong to a farmer but has full history decent tyres I got 2 Bridgestones front and 2 yokohamas rear I had to buy a new parcel shelf and it's fully maintened very clean and loved by me full history I tend to keep a couple of more years recently passed MOT with flying colours and due service in August almost done 60k miles she's an excellent runner
Hi Matt, I wouldn't bother sinking more money into it. 60k+ miles without a service could mean engine troubles are not far away and as a dealer you might end up footing the bill. Sell it for parts!
Owner might have serviced it or mate for cash, a diesel should do double that mileage. I never thought twice about paying that sort of money when my Mercedes went in for a service at a specialist. Would be great as a dog car or for someone who works outdoors.
£650 spares or repair. Give it a chance and get your £500 back plus a bit more.
When you said " you're one Mat short of a full set - I laughed, because your name is ... oh never mind, i'll see myself out.
Hi Matt. Not worth fixing this one. Love watching your videos. Just found you recently while recovering from a knee replacement. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
I've tried a fridge raider , I would eat the qashqai rather than those again
You sounded like Larry Grayson, "Look under the door handle" made me laugh.... top man
"Eee, look at the muck in 'ere!"
I’ve got a 1.5 Nissan Qashqui 2010 on a 60 plate. First car, needed one big enough for work. Great car, needed a few repairs this week , but overall great sturdy car.
Bashed in near-side, mismatched tyres and an interior full of short & curlies. Matt, you know how to pick 'em! 😂
5:02 given de report all the advisory items above should have been fixed but that seems unlikely to me.
Could it be that they went to another MOT station?
I’m just a curious Dutchman.
“A suspiciously curly hair “ : classic Matt observation! Move it on to someone in the trade or scrap it . Great video.
Just started watching, 30 seconds into the video but I'm going to guess this time you've made a profit :D.

Hi Matt, doing well thanks and welcome back fella.
If it’s only £600 to repair definitely save it. Surely it’s worth at least £2-2.5k with 12 months MOT
Too risky. Turbo or engine might pop, then Matt needs to eat the costs.
are these engines unreliable then, I thought diesels go in forever?
@nealthomas5346 not Japanese diesels though. There's always a major problem with those engines, even from Toyota.
@@damilolaakanni understood. 👍
@@nealthomas5346 Seen a turbo go at quite low mileage, and under 2 years old.
500 Quid - spares or repair. I owned a Qashqai once - very nice car. I maintained it in tip-top condition. The only reason I sold it was because I wanted an automatic. I bought myself an old E Class Coupe - now there's a beautiful car.
Advertise the number plate to the farming community, I'd guess you'd get 3-400 quid... there's loads of farmers up here in the Lakes and Dales have vehicles with EWE and TUP plates. Then scrap it!
*And don't forget Geraint from Wales who loves Sheep* 🐑🐑🐑
Less fridge raiders, more Ram Raiders
great video, very fair good advice
Nice motor definitely worth getting the work done. Could be a good car for a few years.
Deffo, qashqai’s are utter garbage but the 1.5 diesel is one of Renault’s better engines. Should easily do 200k or more if maintained correctly
I had the seven seater version of this car bought new in 2011 and sold last January with 206,500 miles on it. A common fault is the turbo intake pipe which is a plastic unit that snaps in half, in my case every two years on average. Its an easy 5 minute fix for a DIY mechanic but I started carrying a spare one in the car after getting stranded 20 miles from home and waiting 4 hours for a tow truck as the car had gone into limp mode and then shut down. Rear wheel bearings are also fairly common issues and I had to replace both of mine twice over the lifetime of the car. Apart from routine maintenance (which I do myself every 6,000 miles), I had no other issues with it. Yes its a boring car but as I have 5 kids, the seven seats were needed. Oh and it was also very economical and I averaged 50mpg.
Matt only buys cars he secretly likes!😝🤣
Having just px'd a 2010 insignia which needed disks pads headlights service, oil seal on pump and 140k, there is only one option thats viable at this point, break for parts and return money to invest in more saleable cars! Enjoy your varied content👍
One of the ugliest chariots on the road ever.
Only surpassed by the Nissan Puke.
Wiper motor is a common issue too. Drain holes below windscreen get blocked and water ends up draining into the motor. It's quite easy to replace yourself.
Qashqai are good cars, I love mine.
This generation are terrible
They are as ugly as juke
Drove a 23 plate one couple months back. Was really nice inside tbf.. bit unstable at "rental car speeds" though 😂
Hi matt how about a fix or spares deal for someone with a bit of DIY experience could make a little bit out of it more than scrapping ? Good channel keep it coming 👍
Scrap it. The less of these on the roads the better.
yes make more room for electric cars
@@Luckyjo21 whatever floats your boat
Great video HPA,I had one, didn't really like it, great body work, rotten as a pear underneath, expensive to put right 🙄, keep it for a donor car, would come in handy for you 👌👍😀
Scrap it...
Had one as a hire car once. Quite liked it. Great vid Matt
32 views in 56 seconds? Bro really fell off 😢
Put that spare Continental on the rear left for your four odd tires! Also you'll have one grippy corner in the rain. Should be fun.
Matt is not going to massively overspend, wow , I impressed 😂
My 2010 2.0dci has 180k plus on clock , has had a wiper motor , has the tailgate modification/ upgrade . It has a timing chain . Had it since new and although got a new Sportage late 21 to replace it , it's still here and I use it mostly if at home . Like a comfy pair of slippers 😂 however it still can get along quickly and is decent on fuel too. I may send a video report . I certainly wouldn't part with it for 500 quid lol
Move it on Matt, there is always someone that is handy with a spanner & a hammer.
Love your "I bought a cheap ..." series, Matt. Highlights for me are the running "Juan key" gag and the electric window bingo game. And yes, break for spares or scrap it. I hope the previous owner sees your reaction to the filth-infested interior and is ashamed.
Save it, Airbag light - check connector beneath codrivers seat...
I don’t know alot about cars but here in South Africa when these were out they sold in numbers. The engine you got there is solid and reliable I reckon for 700kwid fix it as I think it’s a 2300 Pound vehicle for sure and some decent small family would definitely buy it. You definitely can get your money back with this one and it’s nice spec 👊🏽🙏🏽
Not worth fixing up all that work and the dents and scrapes and boot shelf wheels refinishing it’s a 🍋 😂 love the videos man
With the £600 spending on it and a fresh 12 month MOT surely it’s got to be worth £1,900-£2,000 to someone or a young family who are starting out. So you are saving a car and giving someone a decent little family runaround for at least 2-3 years ad. If they do decide to scrap it they’ve not lost all that much. Keep up the good videos mat. As a fellow partridge fan..“ah-aaa”
You missed the extra £200 for the wipers. No one isn't going to buy a car with a massive gap in service history like this, especially those with a young family.
The airbag light is a common issue on Nissans, it is usually the connector under the seat that has a contact problem.
On top of those repairs you forgot it needs a service and probably a cambelt. Using it as a parts car is probably the best option.
On a positive note; the aerial looks in good nick . . . . . .
Tbh i would just Fix it Matt, theres a decent profit in that ngl!
Great video and work as always! : D
break it. one less bland suv on the road is a win for the rest of us. thanks !
Hi Matt, have you ever had a previous owner contact you about your comments on the condition of the car you made on your initial inspection? Or have you heard nothing since they are too embarrassed to defend their cars condition? Great video-watch them all. I even bought a Toyota Aris (as boring as hell) based on your evaluation of cheap reliable cars under £5k. Cost me nothing so far other than servicing so thanks. But one day it has to be a Jag on the driveway! Cheers Carl
I pass 3 Qashqai's on my dog walk and you have described every one of them 😂
Sell it spares or repairs. Space also costs a lot of money. Also took on in yesterday, slightly better exemple though. :)
Still showing some love for that Mazda CX30, Matt
Hi,high peak autos, love your content and keep up the great content,I've been following you for around 3 years now.im just wondering if you could do a vid one day on a qashqai j11 2015 1.5dci n-teck,mine has done 107,000 miles and yes I do look after it and keep it clean and only had wear and tear issues as in breaks etc, anyway hope your ok and look forward for your next video.
Helps keep the wolf from the door so to speak..Matt..what do you think about the pedestrianisation of Romiley town centre?
Keep it and raid it for bits as and when you need it. There's too much wrong with it to warrant saving it, but it can be used to keep other Qashqai's on the road.
The generation of QashQai is really good...the mk2 which I love the look of is the opposite. My neighbour had the mk1 for 8 trouble free years bought mk2 and every month something new went bad
I would have bought it off you as is (I would be willing to negotiate a bit of profit on your side, of course) and just do the work myself. Everything you mentioned, including the airbag, are EASY fixes. I can change suspension bits and pieces all day long. And resetting the codes doesn't usually require much more than a simple code reader but even if it does, bi-directional dealer-level scan tools are getting cheaper and cheaper every day. Thank you, China!
Nice vid, Matt but you haven't said what you might be a le to sell it for if fixed. I get the idea of keeping it for spares though.
First time I’ve seen Matt without a phone case
As an ex valeter, I did a lot of these. All were neglected beyond belief. I only ever had one couple who had three of them on lease over time. Apart from my valeting skills making them look mint, they always kept up with routine mechanical maintenance too.
That pan roof is so nice.
Nissan’s are good runners . I’d spend the money n fix it up ! Theres profit in there somewhere Mat 😂. Thanks for great content as always . Looking forward to the next one. Gaz
Incredible to think the newer models are even uglier. Glad to see the Wonder Grip van getting a shout out!
As god is my witness, I was at a supermarket car park today and saw an old Quash with the tailgate handle held on by brown packing tape. Some of the tape was lifting. This was a sign from upon high. We are as one. They will not divide us with things built to last. I have been collecting (budget) Chinese tyre names since I was a lad, and top points are awarded for spotting: Linglong, GREEN MAX, LEAO, ATLAS, INFINITY, CROSSWIND, EVOLUXX, silver points for: Sailun, Rovelo, Roadx, Blackhawk, Maxam Tires.

Suggestion for the car Matt….. if the air con works, keep it as a humidor. 🚬 😂
Yes, would be a good idea to save it. Decent run around for someone.
I've just got my Qash e-Power 2024 & a utter joy. Go get a test drive & then do your trolling. You will be impressed.
I'm just waiting for Matt to get his hands on an L460 Range Rover. Very interested to see his thoughts upon it, given his burning passion for the Land Rover brand😁
Using it as a parts bin sounds the best idea.
In mainland Europe they go for 4000 to 6000 Euros with that mileage. But they usualy are kept way better.
Very true 👍
I got exactly the same opinion about qashqai and juke all have been abused well usually own by ppl who know nothing about cars unfortunately 🙄

Matt heres what you do with it. We all understand your reluctance to scrap a car so offer it out for sale 600 quid. Somebody will enjoy putting that car right
Sell on to a drive way dealer that will do their own work for £600. They could do it up to sell for £1495 you cover your costs, they make a couple of hundred and someone gets basic transport for a family.
