Well I named my car “ KITT “ and I basically have what I wanted as a kid. A car that can drive itself literally. My lock sound is KITT’s scanner 😊. We live in truly amazing times.
I hate Musk but love Knight Rider. Also, grew up in the 80's. I don't know why they haven't added a smart voice assistant yet. I want to be able to change the voice assistant voice to the KITT voice. I want to talk to KITT like David Hasselhoff. Then I will be able to die happy.
Smart summon is cool and works most times but there’s definitely issues. One big one is sometimes you’re in an actual parking lot like a Walmart etc. and it works and then decides to stop working because it feels it’s a public street. So when this happened to me a row of cars were behind my Tesla and my toddler and I had to walk over to it and get in the car. People looked pissed and confused.
I did it today with my mom in the passenger side waiting for me at wal mart and when I summoned it to pick me up she got so scared she didn’t know WTH was going on and she reached over and pressed parked and got out. I ran to the car and she was like what happened. 😂
So that was your fault for not explaining to her this feature of the car. I don’t know why people do this kind of stuff, because it’s really unnecessary, and quite frankly counterproductive to scare people, and we shouldn’t want to scare people, particularly our moms/dads or anybody for that matter, but especially our parents, because we want people to embrace the technology, and to realize that we are much better off, much safer having this technology in all cars, not just in Teslas, but in all cars, and so this is not just about you and I having some G whiz technology, so that we can impress our family, friends, and neighbors, because we’re talking about saving lives here, we’re talking about getting humans from out from behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, because we’re simply not that good at driving, and the highway deaths, involving humans, crashing their vehicles into other car/pedestrians, walking along the roadway or other stationary objects along the highway or in some cases, simply losing all control of the vehicle, and plunging into a ravine or a wooded area, and ending upside down or worse. So the statistics show the results of human driving, as every year, the statistics are going in the wrong damn direction, and it’s pass the point/time we did something about it, and Tesla is the only company in my opinion that’s gonna do anything about it, because they’re already doing something about it, as they’re talking about self driving cars, and the other guys, well I don’t know what the hell they’re doing. So don’t use this technology to scare people, but rather use the technology to educate/inform the people that with this technology in every car we’re going to save lives, a lot of lives, and that’s what this is all about, don’t change think? I think you were a bit generous with your scoring. I tried A.S.S. at my local grocery store and was impressed. It pulled out of the parking space, drove up to the lane next to the front of the store, waited for a car and a pedestrian and then turned around and came to me. Pretty cool, but there is NO WAY I'd used it at Costco except after business hours.
I was curious about parking garages. I figured it wouldn’t, but thanks for the test. If someone really wants to get some reactions, put a dog in the driver’s seat 😂.
I remember hear about smart summon and it hit a park car. Now telling the insurance company who was driving when she smart summon. The insurance had no idea what to put down because no one was driving.

We did the ASS on Christmas Day when we went out for lunch with the family. Other patrons were leaving the restaurant and walking through the parking lot and the car handled it great! So many people were watching in astonishment that it was a driverless car. A little embarrassing to get in when everyone is wondering why there’s no one in the car

When I got into my car this morning and saw the message on the screen: “your FSD package will now revert back to its original configuration “ “OK”, made me feel like Cinderella after midnight lol. I used the free trial FSD on most drives and have to say it was quite good most of the time! Go Tesla, almost there!
Chris great video thanks. I do have a question about what I am doing wrong? I used ASS several times on my 2022 Model Y but when the car arrives and I let go of the Come To Me button the car doors stay locked. I assume this is intentional so no one else can jump in the car for a joy ride. My frustration is I have to leave the Tesla ASS screen and swipe back to the main Tesla Controls screen before the car recognizes my phone key to let me in. Not fun when hands are full holding groceries. Any ideas on what to do on the phone once the car arrives?

In real life driving, there is always some unplanned anomaly to F things up. It’s just the way it is. Perfect example, when you’re looking for a parking space when you pull into a parking lot, you can never find one and have to do multiple passes. However, when you’re leaving a parking lot, it never fails that either the person directly behind you or right next to you is pulling out exactly the same time that you are. Coughlin’s Law: the Bastards are always out to get you.
Smart Summon will have small advances on each software update and will eventually be as effective as was the case with FSD. I have full confidence in FSD for city and interstate driving. However, I see smart summon as still in the developmental stage; for now I am waiting for a later version.

Tried it once at Home Depot in my Tesla MYP (2024, hw4). First time trying it and it took about 10 seconds for the connection setup. As soon as that was complete it came right over. It was strange to watch lol REMINDER: the Tesla will stop the moment you let go. I keep seeing reviewers continue to hold the button, forcing the Tesla to inch forward, causing confusion with the other drivers, which causes them to pause, which causes more confusion .... LET GO ... and let the other car go ;)
I am going to through this out there. FSD will never work perfectly as desired by Tesla until every auto made had this feature and they could communicate with each other. Imagine the worlds of cars that could communicate and know where they are driving too and allow for safe travel. Cars that would brake, merge, exit, follow safe distances all while you do what ever in the car. I know the Taxi is doing this and google cars but they remain to have issues because people are still behind the wheel of vehicles m making decisions. Once the people element is removed for all, then this will be awesome.

Does Tesla indemnify you if it hits a pedestrian or causes property damage when using self driving/summoning? That would calm my nerves a bit, but I’d still worry about it hurting someone. You’re essentially trusting unknown programmers to not run over a human.

I've been using it at the grocery store, so I don't have to take the cart out into the lot. Same at Lowes since the store lot there is pretty big. In the end, what I've found is that I like using it when I park way the heck out away from other cars to avoid dings, and then it can come to me. I also am aware that when I back into spots, which I usually do, I do not back up all the way as the car will reverse a bit to ensure nothing is in front of it. I also give it plenty of room to swing the turn and not curb a wheel if I'm next to a flower bed or something. LOL. Lastly, I try and make sure when it arrives to get me that makes a turn so it ends up right in front of me not pulling up where I have to cross to get to it.
now if tesla can make it park into tight space. Imagine when the adjoining driver can't get out because the tesla is blocking their door. He knows he had been play by the ASS system! 😂
Which smart summon? My brand-new Y arrived two months ago, and there is no smart summon. The only a.s.s. in my Tesla is probably me, who bought it.Want to laugh? I also paid for the full auto-driving software. And I wonder if I can ask for a refund and give it back. Also, they deliered the car time that in my country winter tires are obligated by law, and they deliver it with summer tires, while during the order they mentioned winter tires and in the contract they don't mention at all the tires. I thought Tesla is an American company. Now I truly doubt. Also, in the bumps I have the feeling that I bought a car without a suspension at all. Like they forgot to put suspensin. I'm truly missing my Escalade. I'm very disappointed.

hmmm. This means your car is not detecting your phone as a key. Try to remove your key as bluetooth and set it up all over again

Which smart summon? My brand-new Y arrived two months ago, and there is no smart summon. The only a.s.s. in my Tesla is probably me, who bought it.Want to laugh? I also paid for the full auto-driving software. And I wonder if I can ask for a refund and give it back. Also, they deliered the car time that in my country winter tires are obligated by law, and they deliver it with summer tires, while during the order they mentioned winter tires and in the contract they don't mention at all the tires. I thought Tesla is an American company. Now I truly doubt. Also, in the bumps I have the feeling that I bought a car without a suspension at all. Like they forgot to put suspensin. I'm truly missing my Escalade. I'm very disappointed.
