How do you take such a high up aerial shot of you leaving the campsite near the beginning of the video? It looked really steady, wasn't sure if your drone did that shot as you were driving away. Didn't realize just how much work and time goes into filming, moving the camera all the time and editing. Great videos Tristan.

@@Marauder1 Why say "sorry"? If it's okay to go in the cave why be sorry? It's almost like you know it's wrong but you don't care and you're going to do it anyway. Hmmmm, I wonder why that is??

    • @Marauder1
      @Marauder1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@guymurphy6982 a lot of people have no respect for caves they trash them destroy things in side. I like cave exploring and treat caves with respect and be mindful of leaving it just as I found it. but the sign makes it wrong for the right reasons just not fair to people who want to enter and respect the cave. dose that answer your question ??

The Bristlecone Pines alone would make the park worth while. Anything as old as those pines that are still alive is a "wow" in any sense of the word.

Yes, it's dusty and muddy. That's Bling in my world. And I have an Abundance of Bling on my Envoy. Some from the Great Basin. Smoke chased me outta Colorado during the Harvest Moon. (Every water Basin I chose to fish was pulled down the week before too. Snow. Rain. Great Adventure.😁.
Having been east for so long, the Newness of the west still has an overwhelming effect on me. I enjoyed the hikes I took. Top Shelf, all.
I'm not surprised you didn't mention the night sky. You see it often. I never saw the Milky Way touching both horizons before. And certainly not in that brilliance. I stepped outta my tent...I gasped. Like terrain about me, I could not capture the Magic on film.
I spent so much time exploring I got to see the Hunters Moon Rise in the Great Basin Area.
That Night Sky. And the texture the moons reflected light created on earth...very Lunar feeling.
    Sorry...it's your channel...😁

Great Basin NP is a great place without crowds. A green island in the middle of the desert; hard to believe there could be such a forest and "glaciers", like suddenly having travelled to Washington state or Montana. I enjoyed Lehman caves before 2020, and the guided tour was very cheap. Keep in mind that the temperature can drop drastically inside the caves, and also outside as you ascend from the desert to the forested area, like 100F to 70F in summer, or 50F to 20F in winter.

I’ve been to Wheeler Peak before and got altitude sickness at the top, someone died going up there the week before I was there and someone needs to be more prepared going there than other places. The wind can be brutal at times going to the summit. It is a great places to visit and a good job pointing out those out of the way sites.- I didn’t know about the arch and Mt Moriah is in view.

Do you think that some of the markings you are seeing on the rock (mainly the ones that are just clumps of dash's) could be some short of vein of iron in the rock that has rusted when it is exposed to environment? Just a wild idea.

Always enjoy the videos! This is a small detail (but I'm sure a lot of work on your end), but I love all the different camera angles and positions when you film your vehicle driving from place to place, when you're hiking, when you're trying to show perspective... Greetings! I really appreciate your videos: can't do these kinds due to health, so you're my eyes on the world, so to speak! Speaking of under-visited parks; have you ever been to Guadalupe Mountains National Park in southwest Texas, next to the New Mexico border? If not, and you have that idea to travel to Texas, be sure to add Guadalupe Mountains to your plans! It's a blind slot canyon that changes ecosystems as it climbs to the rear of the park, from high desert at the entry, to Guadalupe Peak! Interesting fact: Carlsbad Caverns NP is 25 miles away, in New Mexico! I'm not even most Texans even know about this park, unless they're locals! Best of travels to you!!!

Not jaw-droppingly spectacular but interesting and remote. I like those kinds of places. I haven't done much western traveling and none at all southwest past Albuquerque NM, and that was just an overnight on a college bus tour so no points of interest. I really enjoy your travels, and if I were starting over at your age (I think most - maybe not all - of my offspring are older than you) I might try to arrange my life to do similar. At my age it's hard to learn a new way to live. I'll just do it vicariously.
BTW, in my particular religious denomination, the name Preuss is fairly common. I don't know if the namesake of that lake pronounces it the same, but we pronounce it "Proyce". It's German.

Really enjoying the videos. I appreciate the work you've done to find lesser known features. Totally agree about Great Basin National Park. When I hiked the glacier trail, I was entranced staring at the twisty gnarly bristlecone pines. I'll have to check out Lexington Arch next time I'm there.

Hey Nathan, I liked your description of "gnarled" bristlecone pines. Although I never made it to the pines on Wheeler peak, I was able to see some of them along the Bristlecone Pine Loop along the rim of Bryce Canyon; they are impressive tree. I've always wanted to visit the nat'l forest in California that supposedly has the oldest ones.

  • @bobross9623

I totally agree that Great Basin is one of the best of the lesser known NPs. I especially enjoyed the drive up Mt Wheeler with the clouds casting shadows on the basin below..very cool. Along with Great Basin, I feel that Big Bend, Organ Pipe & Black Canyon of the Gunnison are other great lesser known NPs (not to mention innumerable nat'l monuments). What a great video to enjoy on a snowy Saturday here in Pennsylvania - Thanks!
