The thing i remember most from the team associated and losi line is how many things need to be upgraded before its a capable model. Glad to see they have stayed consistent over the past 30 years.
I have this truck and went with the copperhead + 3800kV, also went to 16T pinion. We club race on 2S and holy crap this truck is fast with a 130C battery (fast for 2S). It rips around the dirt track...now if I could just drive it and stop breaking axles. Hopefully upgrading to traxxas heavy duty axles helps, the Factory Team Steel CVD are complete junk.
This is actually the next rc I'm buying. Specifically to get into SCT racing, but also to do a side by side comparison to my senton BLX . I know the Senton is the faster truck in all out speed , but on a track it's a totally different story. The team associated truck will out handle my senton at every turn making it easily the faster truck on the track. This video gave me some helpful info. Thank you!
@@Rek_Rc it was on sale too. I just built one. The truck is night and day vs slash, sc10 and senton. You will spend a lot more to get those truck up to the level tlr or tekno is out the box
@@impure01 you're absolutely right. I love the Senton, but really it's only good for all out speed and bash durability. Racing it would require a lot of money, work, and tuning to make it handle well enough, which is why I'm looking for a more track focused SCT to race. I've been told that fast doesn't equal fast on the track.
I have never had any problems with any Deans connector on any of my rc cars and I run thousands of laps every year. Zero problem with 2s batteries. If your preference is something else maybe suggest a different one rather than direct people to trash their Deans.
I own this for nearly a year and its so far my best Truck. Its just driving and nearly nothing to do else. I changed the ESC against a max10 sct 4000kv Combo and its awesome. The only weakness are the A Arms. I changed them against some RPM parts.
This is probably a good truck but a great truck for the track is a Losi Tenacity sct it already has Aluminum chassis, shock towers, and shocks. Has a center differential and has decent electronics out of box.
I'm relatively new to RC cars and trucks. Have been back and forth between this truck and the Arrma Senton (same price). They both seem to have nice features. Was set to get the Senton but after seeing this video I think it's back to the SC10! Thanks for your excellent review.
Pro4 is a awesome platform to stat on, but if your going to spend all this money on ESC, motors, servos, eventually radio gear & other misc parts - wouldn’t it have been better to just have started with a different platform? Like a race grade TA, TLR or tekno.
Agreed. But there is enough to improve any stock pro4. Avoid metal cvd and def get aluminum shocks. Change diff and shock fluids according to your surface. Rpm makes nice a-arms that are much more durable. Use Tekno pinions. They are best in machine work and durability !! Enjoy !!
@@ParkflyersRC I already did the metal CVAs and already bent and replaced 1 set. RPM A Arms, Tekin Pro4 HD 3500kv with Hobbywing 120A ESC, Pro-line power stroke shocks, Pro-line wheels and tires, radio and receiver with gyro, diff fluids, and Pinon.
Hello, I'm definitely enjoying your videos on the Pro4-SC10! Would an upgraded Pro4-SC10 be better in the long run than an upgraded Slash Ultimate to compete against the Losi and Tekno SCTs? Thanks
Do you have thoughts on brushless 540 sized canned vs 550? My understanding is that 540 sized cans will run a pinch hotter and have ever so so slightly less torque. But do you feel for 4wd typically heavier SCTS (I have a background of a lot of light 2WD stuff) that you need that extra oomph (meaning 550 sized brushless motors) on rigs like this or no. I'm looking to mainly looking for an ESC/motor setup on a Tekno 410.3 roller I got on a good deal and by all accounts, it's great but also a little heavy. I'll be mainly running this on 2s (not allowed to run 3s) at a local indoor clay track. Thanks to any thoughts you might have.
Hey Marc I'm actually looking to upgrade from my vxl slash I was looking at the tekno as well as the tlr but need a rtr truck for area 52. How does this compare to the tekno and losi?
@@ParkflyersRC that's what I was looking at for indoor clay at crispy critters but area 52 requires a rtr truck so I was thinking this. But you said it's handling is only on par with an ultimate. Is it worth getting this instead of the ultimate if I already have a 4x4 slash?
@@Nj10scale it will Jump better than the ultimate. It also has a lighter feeling to it in the turns. It’s not going to be drastically better, but it is better. It’s noticeable.
Honestly I don’t think traxxas connectors are bad apart from the fact they’re not very compatible but yeah I usually change to ec5 anyway and I completely agree that deans/tplugs are awful. This car looks sick I’m considering it instead of a used slash that I would rebuild and mod
This truck is basically a rebranded Helion vehicle just like the Associated MT10. I like castle ESCs but, I'm not a big fan of their motors though. I prefer motors from Tekin and Team Brood.
I have this truck but I don't see the part number for the net in the manual. I would like to put a net on my Pro2 as well. Any idea where I can find one?
Check your clearance at end of travel. My Pro2 tie rod end hits the inside of the wheel if D/R is set above 3 or 4. So, RTR is a relative term! Cost me 2 servos learning that. Anyone know of a Tx compatible with the stock Rx that has Endpoint Adjustment? I'd like to keep the DVC as I have gotten used to it now.
