@@ChicanoBarbarian13 Not speaking for Chris, but without an easy source for the Chinese rifles and ammunition it's going to be hard to properly evaluate them. They look pretty good on paper, but without an extensive endurance and reliability test we have no way of knowing if they're really any good or not.
Colt sat on some of the most cutting edge technology and refused to sell what could have made them the leader in the gun industry. It's incredible how bad it was for colt to hire the Marine Gen that killed the company because his pride was worth more than the whole company combined .... Insane.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that this is just a hobby. We’ll all be too old for the range and eventually pass away before we know it’s coming. It’s really not many decades from the time you can afford it all, balance work, family and then your time has passed. I started selling my KAC and LMT guns and expensive Gibson guitars that just sit. I Surprise my wife with trips, gifts, my son with memories, etc. It took me turning 40 to realize this, training and shooting is great but an abundance of anything can take the joy out of life and shift our focus from priorities (family). Note: I’m not saying you have too many, that’s different for everyone. Just sharing my journey and personal growth.
Nice. I remember back in the 1980's when you could buy an SP-1 at Montgomery Ward's or even at the sporting goods stores in the malls. Wish I had a time machine.

Stoner and Sullivan designed the finest rifle in human history and I think that stands to this very day. IMO internal piston(what we refer to as direct impingement) AR15s are better than HK416 style external piston rifles. Especially when you get into the cutting edge variants of the AR15 like the Knights Armament SR15.
Beautiful collection. I too am a Colt fan. I have an SP1, a Colt A4, an LE6920 M4, an LE6920 M4A1 SOCOM, an 11.5" Commando, and a 10.3" monolithic 6945. I really hope Colt becomes a viable company once again.

My first AR 15 rifle was the last one you reviewed here. I saw a video around 2017 or so with the Colt A4 which after I purchased due in part to your and a few others reviewing in on TH-cam ........ My friends were amazed that I would make this Fixed Stock, 20' barrel Colt my very first rifle when all the newer shorter barrel, adjustable stock brands were available but as you say here, sometimes we are just drawn to a particular style or brand and this Colt was it for me ... I have several other more expensive, fancier rifles now but the excitement of that first gun , getting it out to the ranch walking for miles with it on my shoulder was so cool ............. I dont know what to think of Colt these days but I am glad I chose this A4 ... My stock is much more of a gray color than any other I have seen so dont know what that is about but it still shoots straight and fast so thanks for all the Colt info you have had through the years ... I always drooled over those at our LGS. Best we could do was a Sporter II rifle in 1987. Great-shooting blaster that I lit up multiple water jugs with at distance.
Altho i feel we are living in the golden time of weaponry, i do remember when. My 1st AR was a 1989 HBAR that came with a Colt .22 conversion kit! I feel that if Colt had been in another state, they would still be somebody today. They got their work cut out for them with the likes of LMT around!

Always interesting to hear about your time at Colt. Just out of curiosity, what did you actually do there? Were you an engineer? I'm interested in eventually starting my own firearms manufacturing company and I'm going about in a bit of a strange way. I'm learning Tool and Die. The apprenticeship offers me a ton of experience working with precision tolerance metal work in a variety of ways including CNC, small bridgeport mills, lathes, stampings, welding, etc. I also get to learn programs like Solidworks and Catia which are extremely useful for designing. None of these things are directly tied to firearms manufacturing but all of them are relevant to the actual process of making guns and particularly unique designs. I'm also going to start posting shooting videos and have one short one on my channel but that's just for fun. Definitely would be interested to hear more about your professional background in terms of what your job title was, what your degree was in, etc. Just because I want to pursue a similar path.
My 1st and only Colt was a used Sporter bought shortly after the Los Angeles riots. I still have it in original form but don’t shoot it. That’s what I have my beater PSA builds for.
NOBODY knows Colt AR's better than Chris . Have two : a Colt 727 clone (6920 lower , SOCOM barrel ) , and an XM177 E2 Colt reproduction my favorite [ US Armament ] I know but I like it . Sold my AR 15 A2 sporter [ 20" barrel , $559 in 1986 ] . Got two rifles he hates - SA M1A walnut standard , and SA M1A 6.5 Creedmoor national match .

And out of the few ARs that I own, the Colt is the one I wouldn't part with as it's the first (and so far only) factory built Colt I've ever owned.

I want colt to re-release the 901, had I known back when I bought my 6920 that they were just going to discontinue the 901 I would have bought one and just bought a 5.56 upper and the conversion kit.
Get yourself a new Colt LE6920 M4A1 Soccom rifle.I think you would be surprised how well the new guns shoot.They look better now with the selector stops on and not ground off.That is one of the nicest guns Colt currently has on the market.

I’ve used my LE901 to harvest 2 moose, a bear, and deer. It’s so disappointing to know that I won’t be able to get parts for it. I would love to continue using it hunting.

I have A2 , 723 , 727 , M4 , M4 Block 1 , M4A1 Block 1 , M4A1 Block 2 , LE6991 , LE6945 , LE6933 FBI HRT , and MK18 MOD 0 CQBR. Most of these are upper and not complete rigs . I'm now trying to find Colt Canada/Diemaco Uppers . My dad gave me Diemaco C8 14.5 Fixed Carry Handle Upper 20 years ago . I'd love to track down Colt Canada LE6921 , and MRR... Awesome video

There were 2 Colt SP1’s for sale there and he pretty much sold me on it saying it was a copy of a gun he was trained with and so much looked like a “Mattel” toy but he sold me on it for $225! I so hate it’s no longer in my collection as I was introduced to FN FAL’s, H&K 91 & 93’s, which made the Colt seem so insignificant that my misfortune was I sold it! Anyway that gun triggered my feeding frenzy for the “black guns”! Just wanted to share my story how my first Colt started it all from 1976.
I was never a fan of the CAR A3, it was not very popular. The trigger sucked and they all had .170 hammer/trigger pins so you could never put a Geisselle trigger in it.

A lot of history on that table. So your SP1 carbine has .223 Rem on it correct? But the later carbines have 5.56. I know you said they all are 5.56, I was thinking the Colt manual that came with the SP1 says .223 Rem if I remember correctly. It would be good to do a video explaining the different markings and just what was the story behind this. You do have a awesome collection, thanks for showing the real Colts.
Great collection!!! You certainly know your Colts. Wish I could send some pics of the AR I acquired a while back. Serial # in the mid 200’s from a guy that said his father worked at Colt. I just always wonder / hope it was authentic as he said it was.
I own 1 Colt, it's a 2011 6920 SOCOM. You might be horrified with what I've done with it. I've replaced all the internals, the trigger was so gritty and unintentionally a 2 stage with the amount of creep and it needed a ambi safety and Radion Raptor charging handle put a Troy rail on it to give me some additional real estate and a B5 stock. I didn't buy it to collect it, but shoot it.
Then why buy a socom to begin with? So many other choices if you don’t care about the significance of the markings. Even if you wanted a colt. A oem 1 or 2 is half the price of a socom and is exactly what you would have without the aftermarket parts installed. I think A bcm mcmr 14.5 or a urgi is what you’re looking for. Swapping a kac rail for a Troy is like Dave chappelle funny. I’ll give you $25 for the crappy kac rail that came on it

They all have 5.56mm chambers. Very small number of export rifles in .222 and .223 Rem

Great collection!!! You certainly know your Colts. Wish I could send some pics of the AR I acquired a while back. Serial # in the mid 200’s from a guy that said his father worked at Colt. I just always wonder / hope it was authentic as he said it was.
I own 1 Colt, it's a 2011 6920 SOCOM. You might be horrified with what I've done with it. I've replaced all the internals, the trigger was so gritty and unintentionally a 2 stage with the amount of creep and it needed a ambi safety and Radion Raptor charging handle put a Troy rail on it to give me some additional real estate and a B5 stock.
I didn't buy it to collect it, but shoot it.
Then why buy a socom to begin with? So many other choices if you don’t care about the significance of the markings. Even if you wanted a colt. A oem 1 or 2 is half the price of a socom and is exactly what you would have without the aftermarket parts installed. I think A bcm mcmr 14.5 or a urgi is what you’re looking for. Swapping a kac rail for a Troy is like Dave chappelle funny. I’ll give you $25 for the crappy kac rail that came on it
