@@woodsc12001 I think it depends on the place youre fishing. I fish a bass tournament lake and they bass there will not bite a wacky worm because theyre too used to it. You’ll catch them on crappie jigs easy, but they wont go near a plastic worm
I didn't go through all the comments, so this might have been brought up before ... the HUGE difference between your artificial presentation and your live bait presentation. You never stopped moving the artificial baits. The bass were interested, but the constant movement was keeping them from moving in. When it stopped moving, they immediately started moving in on it ... then you jerked it again and they moved off. With the live bait, you let it sit still. MOST people fish artificial baits WAY too fast. Bass are ambush predators. I constantly moving bait "looks" like a chase. When it stops, it's ready to be ambushed.
This is 100% true. I also sight fish for perch and only way i catch them in crystal clear lake is by casting it out, let it sit for 20 seconds than move it slightly and buummm
Live worms are one of the most effective baits you can use for fishing (blue gill/bass) and definitely in creeks. Creek behind my house has nearly everything from cats, bass, bluegill, gar, carp, drum and a few more I’m forgetting to mention. Night crawlers are always there to have my back in case my lures aren’t making the cut.
My funniest story: I've caught one bass up to this point in my life. I usually fish for catfish. However one time I was reeling in my worm super fast to re-cast and ACCIDENTLY caught a huge bass right before the worm got to shore. I literally saw it jump and grab the worm. so that's my only bass I've ever caught story. It was on accident. 😂
Is it me or are they breeding night crawlers differently? A couple years back i used to put one nice sized one on my hook easily...... now these mfs are literally snakes, i have to cut them in half for them to fit
Tyler, I have watched MANY of your videos. Brilliant job, my man! This video-study specifically caught my attention because for YEARS I have been asking myself "is this the best they got?". Meaning, plastic worms look great, but they sure as heck are not fished to resemble an earth worm. I'm now 51, married, 4 children. I started a fishing lure company on the side called SPECTRUM LURES. Haven't launched my site yet, BUT my very first lure that is complete is called the CURLIN' WORM. Buddy, I figured it out. I really did. When it's ready to send, YOU are one of the first people I will send this to. Me and my boys are killing it with this new lure. Even our youngest Matthew (9 yrs) who is on the autism spectrum is catching nice 2 pound bass with it. I'll be in touch...soon!
facts, seems to still have the line from a bait and artificial lure that it fell for recently. which means the hook and the bait are still in his mouth and or gut and he is more wary of whats seems to be real or not.
My experience has always been that fish find live worms to be irresistible, and obviously that applies to a wide variety of fish. The underwater footage is fantastic!! Great video.
Yeah my problem with fishing with live worms is exactly that, the smaller fish which are more plentiful love them and get to the live worm more frequently than the larger ones do.
This is why I very rarely use lures. It’s been a long time since I caught a fish on artificial, about a year. But, whenever I use livebait the hook up ratio seems much higher and much more productive
Personally I think that worms most closely resemble freshwater leeches that are found pretty much everywhere. Up here in my part of Canada, we catch tons of bass on both leeches and worms. Depending on the water levels, springtime flooding or just high water in general will wash worms into the system as well.
Bass are opportunistic feeders and often bite out of instinct. Not sure if they care what a plastic worm resembles, they just think it looks scrumptious! Cool video 🤗 really great footage
The way the second bass just stared at the worm reminds me of the crappie that hang around my dads dock early in the spring. They don’t bite on anything unless you beat them over the head with it
The fish has a line hanging out of its mouth. When it’s looking at the drop shot worm you can see it hanging out of the left side of its mouth. On 1:35 you can see it.
If you shine a light at the shoreline in the dark you can see freshwater eels near the shoreline at night. I think this is why the bass feed at the shoreline in the dark. And the split shot rigged 6” black creme worm works so good.
I sometimes bobber fish bass with worms. They always slam them on my lake. I also have a recommendation, use a float jig when doing this that way you don’t need to hold the rod up uncomfortably
Ok but you also have to consider how many times this one bass has probably been caught on artificial worms. After a few times being caught they do become weary.
kid riglar exactly when I get a house with land and a pound I'm going to drop a bunch of worms in so they don't get as worried and become more careless
The one thing I did learn from this is I will now more often let my worm or jig sit motionless on the bottom. Seams like the water has enough current or movement to give the plastic worm a more natural action than shaking the worm with the rod tip.
One beautiful may morning at sunrise I decided to go to fishing at the creek. But this time I planned to take my lawn chair and fish with a bobber and nightcrawlers and kind of relax. I usually throw a rebel craw. Anyways it was a great day. I caught several decent little smallmouth, 2 nice channel cats, 2 yellow belly catfish, and some bluegill all in the same little spot. I went through all 24 nightcrawlers so I didn't do too much relaxing. It was just such a beautiful spring morning I'll never forget.
They probably fished and release there so much that the fish have learned that it’s a win win situation, u catch and get to hold the fish, they get free food
Very interesting video, thank you! The image quality underwater is awesome, so cool to actually see the reactions of the bass. Right on dude! Hello from France.
Run the video in full screen and starting at about 1:32 if you look closely at the right side of the bass you'll see mono sticking out of its mouth. Hello there Tyler. I'm 38 years old and I have been fishing for a good 25 years of my life. I have a lot of respect for Anglers and educational videos like your's but if I may state my opinion on a couple of things. when using a real worm just to let it sit in the water and let it do its own thing instead of jigging it, the second thing is when using a plastic worm Texas Rig Style, I find swimming it in slow motion catches more fish than wacky style, Carolina rig, drop shot or fishing it's real fast. When use a drop shot rig, the weights on the bottom of your rig will spook the fish away just like we've seen in your video. I just thought that I would share this information and I may be right and I also may be wrong but that's what I discovered through fishing for largemouth bass.
For me, using senkos or yum dingers weightless wacky rigged catches tons of fish. Just jerk it a couple times in a row, stop for a few seconds, then repeat. Works really good in ponds. Works well when it’s warm out too.

I'd would have liked to seen you use other colors if not other type of plastic worms there is also the fact that creek fish have different feeding behaviors than lake fish mainly due to lake fish having to swim to the bank for food and will attack anything that has swam away from the bank.

They do a lot. You have to tempt them enough or find The one that does.
I try to sight fish using a rooster tail
Tough in when they spawn
It looks like he's seen one too many of his school mates yanked up out of the water by worms like that.
Or its just that live worms work better then artifical worms
