That was an amazing video. I was not expecting such a different reaction to the two baits. I want to say how much I appreciate the variety and quality of your videos. I was struck by a truck as a pedestrian and thrown 40 feet. I live in constant pain and it prevents me from having a normal sleeping pattern. I am often awake late at night or up early in the morning so I appreciate having some good entertainment. Thanks again.
After thousands of $ spent on artificial, 20 yrs later finally was talked into using live minnows. The best time I ever had fishing nothing but big fish all day I wish I would have converted yrs ago would have had the house paid off.
@@collecter3456 yea ive probably got 5 thousand or so in lures. Crank baits alone i have over 300, if you throw in soft plastics oh man 5k might be a low estimate
All I can say is that if you use artificial lures, find out what the fish eats on the area you’re fishing at and use similar colors of their food. You’ll catch more fish.
I guess I would like to see this with bait that more closely resembled a minnow for that water clarity and depth. A great video and super informative. Especially how little action the minnow had compared to the plastic version. Bass really all animals seem to be able to do a cost benefit calculation of yum yum vs effort vs nutrition.
my grandpa said he used to fish frogs by balling up mud around the frog before casting out so that the frog would sink, the mud would fall off the frog after it sinks and the frog would start to kick up and thats when the bass would bite
to add to this i think color and shape may be more important than the action i fish small banjo minnows alot in public water same shape as a bait fish more so than most lures anyways how ever they come in stupid colors :/ when fishing the default colors i notice alot of bass short striking/following it a lil ways and turning away or darting up to it just to stop and stare at it however i colored a few a more natural grey color and bream colors and alot less fish turned away they were much more willing to commit to a more natural color bait the first minnow just sink to the bottom with very little action but the bass has no hesitation to eat it in the video
I'm sure it has to do with scent and how the lure looks like, they have good eyes and its pretty clear water so they prob see the difference. Very interesting to see for sure.
*Love the footage on real live bait!!!* As a soon to be new fisherman this helps tremendously. Now I just have to wait for my Shimano 2500FC Nasci to get here and find a rod to pair it with?! So many choices but I’ve heard Ugly Stik Elite is a good spinning rod for $60… thinking of getting the 7/ft Medium as I’ll be Bank/Canal/Pier fishing mostly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated… should I go with a shorter rod or are there any alternatives under $100 that would pair with the Shimano Nasci 2500 spinning reel better? I kind of want an all around setup for my first fishing pole… probably should’ve gotten the Shimano Sedona in a smaller 1000 instead
I don't even bass fish bro but your video is very educational, just thanks for your time and efforts brother and risking your equipment for the educational purposes of your viewers. Two thumbs up will def give it a try next time I cast , tight lines.
Bass have been known to eat a variety of things, including small ducks, birds frogs etc. However I seem to have better luck with lures that color wise fit into a basses world and are worked to imitate movements as close as possible to the real thing hence them not being interested in the light colored minnow offered. The worms I use have a much softer feel than most soft plastics, KVD Zero's and Zmann soft plastics.
If you notice, the first time the bass hit the live minnow, it wasn’t moving. Bass are predators, but they’re also wary. Realistically, bass will expend the least amount of energy possible to gain the greatest amount of food, (unless they are really hungry or just bite by reaction). A lot of times, the best way to move an artificial lure is to not move it at all. Fishing slow sometimes means catching fast.
Theres something so much cooler catching fish with artificial. The fact you just tricked a fish into biting onto a piece of plastic. Plus its way more involving
And you aren’t impaling a live fish and let it painfully die on a hook. I’m not a soft person but I wouldn’t let something suffer like that, even if it’s a fish.
Collecter34 5 are you a vegetarian if no then your a hypocrite fish is food for humans that’s how life works bud it was created by god to be eaten and to live it’s life
Sb Knights I’m no vegetarian. If I had to catch fish, I would have no remorse using minnows. But since I do it out of enjoyment I chose not to. Like I said I have no problem killing a fish, just with hooking it through it’s body. I would gladly catch and cook a fish.
Without ever watching this video I can say definitively “yes”. Bass do eat minnows. In fact, Bass would eat humans if we were to suddenly shrink down and take a swim in a lake filled with bass.
Seems I remember some when a fish is in distress other fish will move on it wether they’re feeding or not. This might explain why they attack the live minnow.
I don’t know how old your channel is but I feel like you should have way more subs than what is shown. Your vids are great quality and educational for fishing
Thank you for responding to my comment bro. I just liked and subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more videos and great content. The way your able to film these fish and the way they act in their natural habitat is amazing. Keep it up!
There may be a hundred videos on TH-cam that try to show us that certain artificial baits catch bass. I have yet to catch any variety of bass on artificial bait, and I have used the best. This video confirms what I have always believed. Thanks for going through the trouble of putting it together.
Best underwater videos I’ve seen for sure!!!! Kinda disappointing though, after seeing the live worm and live minnow action makes me regret all the money I’ve spent on tackle, shoulda just bought some worms and minnows 🤷🏻♂️ sure woulda saved a lot of money.😄
Well there's a reason why most bass fishing tournaments have rules against using live bait, and even some lures that seem TOO lifelike... The reason I spend money on tackle is so I can take on the challenge of the sport of bass fishing! I'm sure there are tournaments where you're allowed to use live bait im sure, but I'm trying to do it like the pros so I can learn how to fish well without live bait when it's not available.
Thank you for your great video. I mostly fish for trout and know when they strike. What type of strike does a bass give when I'm using a open cast setup. Please let me know. Skip from Modesto, Ca.
Very interesting again. Please keep them coming. I think that you said these were bed fish, so that may make a difference, but I understand that's the probably the only place that you know a fish is located. :)
Yo! Great video. Just wanted to clarify what a control group is So in an experiment, the control group is the group that does not receive any interaction. In a drug trial, the control group is the group that doesnt receive the drug. You can then compare the results of the control group vs the group that did receive the drug. In this case, the control group eould be throwing a the line, using the exact same rig, without any bait. The bait in this instance is the independent variable. The control group is the group where the IV is null.
I know there's nothing like live bait but could you try matching the hatch and see if that makes a little bit of a difference? just asking because not only was the movement so much different, but the size also try matching the hatch get as close as you can from your artificial bait to your live bait then do the experiment they look nothing like justice suggestion
Great video. Maybe a different color could have made them more responsive to it. Something more minnow colored. They definitely like the real thing that is for sure.
Eye balls makes a difference on swim baits and soft plastic bait I feel too ..I have used both and my friend realized that the only difference that day was one had eyeballs and other didn't and looked the same just the damn eyeballs lol
make sure you check out the camera I filmed this on! amzn.to/2FYzrsR
That was under water right? What camera you use out of the water?
Maybe your next video could be “Is water really wet??”
Will a bass eat (fill in the blank)?
🤔🤔
Will it fit into its mouth?
There's your answer.
Yes
Yes
A pistol barrel?
if it fits then yes
Will a bass eat a doorknob
That was an amazing video. I was not expecting such a different reaction to the two baits. I want to say how much I appreciate the variety and quality of your videos. Thanks for the support Kevin!
I love the title of this video, as if there's a question that bass don't actually eat minnows 😂😂
Lol. Does a cow produce milk?
😂😂
Lone Wolf 😂😂
Team Wagy i thought the same thing haha
I’m a beginner and for a sec I was like wait.... then why am I imitating minnows
After thousands of $ spent on artificial, 20 yrs later finally was talked into using live minnows. The best time I ever had fishing nothing but big fish all day I wish I would have converted yrs ago would have had the house paid off.
Lmao same here all these yrs and I'm freaking using a worm and weight just drag it.. pa powww I've had much fun this yr bottom fishing
Xd
Thousands?
@@collecter3456 yea ive probably got 5 thousand or so in lures. Crank baits alone i have over 300, if you throw in soft plastics oh man 5k might be a low estimate
Best way is to hook it by the mouth so that way the minnow swim around freely and stay alive longer.
Caught a lot bass this way.
LoserJ7 yeah but you loose them a lot more I hook em thru the tail
Through the tail, they swim better, don't come off as easily and when the bass attack it's 9/10 coming from behind
@@matthewsunderland4795 imo I think they swim better thru the lip but that's my opinion
Next: “Do bass eat humans?”
Stoney Lonsome damn.
Bruh lol
Stoney Lonsome even cardboard?
One bit my toe; conclusively, yes.
All I can say is that if you use artificial lures, find out what the fish eats on the area you’re fishing at and use similar colors of their food. You’ll catch more fish.

You should do. Do bass eat bass
CAMO TV they do look at catch em all
I seen
He should still do it
That is very illegal. You can't use game fish as bait
Alex West depends where you live
Can you do frogs?
The One The Only hows he gonna get it to sink
my grandpa said he used to fish frogs by balling up mud around the frog before casting out so that the frog would sink, the mud would fall off the frog after it sinks and the frog would start to kick up and thats when the bass would bite
The One The Only yesss
The One The Only I have never caught a bass on a frog, yet I have gotten a few hits. We will see this year.
Snake Eyes well uh good luck!
Those under water footage is AWESOME! in reinforcing your tips👍
Really enjoy your vids

Excellent video Tyler. Dude, you are definitely educating me on this well.
Awesome footage man! It's crazy how fast they react to the live bait!
The titles of these videos should be “Plastic Vs Live”. Bass obviously eat this stuff.
Dude this a great series of videos. I’ll be trying more live bait for sure
That was a great comparison video. The Bass didn’t hesitate with the shad minnows
Love these episodes nice to see a underwater demonstration very cool
This is why I subscribed, keep it up 👍
Awesome!
3:56 I'm hooked I'm hooked! Mr Krabs! I'm hooked😭. Thats all I see from SpongeBob on here🤣🤣
This is my favorite video series
I'm sure it has to do with scent and how the lure looks like, they have good eyes and its pretty clear water so they prob see the difference. Very interesting to see for sure.
You deserve more subs and likes. Keep the excellent content coming!
Thank you so much!

No substitution for live bait. Great series!
I been telling people that for years, but no one listens
I don't even bass fish bro but your video is very educational, just thanks for your time and efforts brother and risking your equipment for the educational purposes of your viewers. Two thumbs up will def give it a try next time I cast , tight lines.
Yeah bro, i gotta storm minnow swimbait small and large size, especially in ponds, they love it
At 1:11 into the video, did anyone else see the carp swimming around in the background? Great video by the way, really interesting.
yep!
Quality is great I love this underwater series
Thanks!
Dope video man I love watching them
Gear video your editing is amazing you are really underrated
Thanks Lukas
One of the best fishing channel out there
Appreciate it man!
Awesome video man!

Love the underwater footage and peaceful music. All around great video. Definitely subbing brother!
love the content. please do share more videos!
Please make video on carp baits please
Can you try those gulp minnows?
Ah good idea!
Lets see the Gulp minnows.
Yes, would like to see that as well.
They work, I catch bass on them, they are good for stocked trout as well, if you like to trout fish
These are the coolest fishing videos. Keep it up. Also veryyyy helpful
Would like to see a live vs.dead comparison
again another great video Tyler!
Just subscribed love this series
Sweet, thanks!
Awesome vid Tyler keep it up man 🤘🏼
🙌🏼

I've also have had lots of success with salt preserved minnows. Easy to maintain and last a long time until nèeded as bait.

No doubt

Great vid, Tyler. Love all of your underwater vids. No one does it better. 👍🏼👍🏼!!
Nice video man it's worth watching
Great thanks!
2:24 the way the bass got pulled! 🤣🤣🤣
When I saw the title I already new, lol I caught a 13 pound bass with a bobber and threadfin shad during springtime
Hey Tyler! Thanks for the great content! Could you by chance do a video on your weight setup for this video?
What do you do with the fish that the bass don’t kill like the bluegill video🤔
Awesome video!!
Put a bobber and a weight on your line along with a minnow or a shiner and you will reel them in. I catch so many that way
I don't think anything will beat using a live minnow. Shows that the real thing truly is better
Do a comparison between different soft plastic minnows
Great job on these videos.
Thank you!

wow i learned a lot!!! cant wait for more!!
Awesome!
Is Hey can you tell me what style and size hook used or recommend? Thanks for any help
Great video. I learned a lot. Keep the videos coming.
Can you do blue berries?
Caught a 2ft lmb on a minnow at lake Lewisville. Yes they do.

pretty cool footage. Love it! Awesome job!

Barry Brown same!
How bout a big bluegill
Good video dude

ah cool!
Would a dead minnow work? I can only find frozen ones where I live
Good job
Cant beat the real deal is just no way even the pheromones that a live bait gives it just cant be beat good video mate
Anything on Blue gills and Crappies?
Lol at the title. Do bears s*** in the woods? Great video bud
5 stars Bro.
I think the plastic minnow is colored wrong for what the fish are used to
I remember my brother used a perch a 6 inch perch for bait and he ended up catching a 4 pound bass
I love this video about how bass eat minnows, question is can you make a video on live frogs versus artificial
How do you rig both baits? I am not a fan of the weight below the bait. Seems to spook the fish.
It’s called a drop shot. Actually works really well, doesn’t spook them
