      Pull the white louvers that spin in the ice maker. Once you pull them, they'll spin round on their own. When they almost get back around, you'll see water going into the tray.

    the frozen tubes here always end up dumping water behind the fridge and on the floor, more than once they've destroyed brand new floors before being noticed :|
    yup after watching some blown apart and soaking everything. the ones mentioned above went on vacation and left it on for unknown amount of time trying to make ice and soaking the floor :))
    my fix is put a brass sleeve inside the plastic tubing (the ones used for plastic tubing compression fitting) or replace the line from valve with copper and double clamps

    Hey Lex -- great vid. Question for you brother: When you head out on maintenance orders, do you have a 'go' bag for depending on the job or do you bring a general set of tools? I was thinking that I would never think of bringing a spray bottle, etc... unless from experience I saw 'ice maker' on the order and grabbed one before I hit the door. I have a general bag of tools, then one where I know I'll be doing electrical or plumbing, etc... Just wondering what your strategy is. Thanks!

    Great video. I hit the diagnostic on my ice maker. It goes through the whole process. With no problem except it doesn't fill with water. I switched the connector on the water valve in the back, when you activate the water dispenser on the door the ice maker water starts to fill. So that tells me the water valves are good. Is there something else I can check and replace before I buy a new ice maker? Oh yes it makes ice when you fill it with water and goes through the cycle.

    • @LexVance

      chris currie Hmmm, check the drain hole in the freezer. It may be backed up & running into bottom part of fridge under crisper shelves. When the freezer goes into defrost, it melts the ice & water drains into a pan on the bottom of fridge. If hole is clogged, water will get under crisper shelves.

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NooseNoob It seems like the inlet valve stops closing properly & sends a tiny bit of constant water to the ice maker. The tiny droplets start freezing & piling up in the tube causing a blockage. Thank you so much for watching NooseNoob!

    • @LexVance

      The valve is slowly letting water through & not shutting off completely. That little bit of water is freezing in the feed tube. The ice blocks the water coming from the valve eventually so the hose blows off & sprays the wall. Thank you so much for watching Kevin!

      The ice maker was fine. The solenoid on the inlet valve stopped closing all the way. So, a tiny bit of water was still getting through the gate & traveling up to the ice maker & freezing. The freezing droplets built up until it totally blocked the feed tube. I've been dealing with these GE clunkers for over a decade & GE still hasn't fixed that issue. Once I replace the inlet valve, I never hear from them again.Thank you so much for watching
