Something I like to do when creating goals is also making them reasonable with a reward. And also adding cues to habits to stack ones I want to work on together. For instance, if wanting to drink eight glasses of water a day, I pair a cup by the bed, at every meal, on the way to work, etc. By doing this enough times, now my body instantly knows when it wants or needs water because there’s always a reusable bottle nearby. Jaunt to the store or for a walk? Always bring my water bottle now. To keep on top of a vitamin habit, I pair it by taking it while my breakfast is cooking. No breakfast yet means haven’t been to the cupboard to pull out the supplements. Likewise, exercise is always after getting ready for the day, etc. A 10 minute walk after work is achieved by pairing it to grab the mail and take my dog out, etc. Want to floss or brush your teeth more? Pair it with your morning routine, or after your lunch. Eventually, you’ll build the routines and look forward to your rewards you set for yourself. When my home is organized and deep cleaned every week, the reward is a coffee out or sometimes things like an experience. By keeping the tasks or goals simple that I want to work on and focusing on longevity instead of the immediate result, it makes the likelihood of personal accountability also stronger than relying only on one’s willpower alone. Also, focusing on one habit or task at a time is helpful when creating new goals. Doing too many goals too quickly will lead to burn out. Small, sustainable movements and consistency are key. Other habits include pairing getting back to work after an afternoon cup of tea, or running errands all at once and pairing the habit with a reward of something fun later in the day. If wanting to eat healthier and have a break while doing schoolwork, I stack the habits with having a healthy snack, and the reward is a yoga class after a couple hours of study. No studying my consumer health course means no yoga class. After enough times, my brain now anticipates study with a healthy snack, and then an exercise class for a reward. And for a very productive day, it can mean an ice cream cone treat or favorite movie to watch, a bubble bath, something like that. Something pleasurable and worth it as a reward. It may sound Pavlovian, but this really helps if you’re trying to create healthy habits by making them more fun, or stacking them together with something to look forward to. At least personally, it increases my motivation. And on the chance there are any “off” days with a habit, I don’t beat myself up about it and try to do the habits as soon as again remembering. Life happens; we forget our work lunch, we forget to workout one day, we’re sick and don’t read that book we want to tackle, or get to our homework quickly enough. It happens. Learn from it and move on. So as you’re forming new habits for yourself, I suggest keeping it simple and start slow, then work your way up as you see fit. And write things down. That’s very helpful in evaluating if your dream lives are realistic enough, or if you need to change course to get there. Above all, celebrate your wins! Any habit you want to make or break is great. Be proud you want to make changes, and keep going. And if your goals take longer or shorter than expected, honor that process. You’re on a journey, after all, of development. No one said you had to achieve it all tomorrow.
Such great info! You're always finding ways to help people! I am the WORST at setting goals and following through. I get lazy... and then cry about how I wish my life were different! I know it's in my hands. I'm going to give this a whirl!
Fear is rarely ever a good base to operate from, as it is a primal instinct on auto-pilot. Planning can also devolve into avoidance and/or overthinking, which is a killer to consistent effort. Some things to consider. I’ll take a look at the book, regardless.
I'm part of Connor Beaton (Man Talks) Men's Alliance group. It's great. Small group weekly accountability. The main focus of the Alliance is to be a self led man. I enjoy your channel and get a lot from it. Thanks for what you do 🤙
Wow. I was literally in the middle of this book haha. I definitely recommend it. I'm not done with it yet, but so far, this is probably the best productivity book I've ever read next to Atomic Habits.
One thing I've noticed about people who do not attain goals - they speak in vague timelines. They'll say something like "I am going to sell this house and downsize to a condo in the next few years." I don't believe them because the timeline is so vague. If they said "I am going to sell this house and downsize to a condo by May 31, 2025." That's when I will start to take them seriously.
Awesome Review Gabe! One thing that has changed my mindset was the words " Applied Knowledge". What good is it if a man gains the whole world but loses his own soul? I try to apply the teachings that help me build on solid ground.
I woke up to the tragic drawbacks of our debt-based financial system during the last financial crash. Through discipline, determination and Abby Joseph Cohen my financial advisor, I was able to retire recently in my early '50s with a bit of land in the Williamson act on the California coast and an investment portfolio that can sustain my daily living. I try to spread the word and encourage many people I meet it is possible to achieve the goal of independence. Living below your means can be enormously rewarding! Practice humility and above all, Invest in the financial markets with expert guidance.
Well her name is 'ABBY JOSEPH COHEN SERVICES'. Just research the name. You'd find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
Been debt free for two years thanks to Abby Joseph Cohen Services. So sad to see my friends in their 40s with car loans, mortgages and credit card debt.
The thing is people often doubt the prospects of financial advisors like Abby Joseph Cohen in business/markets today. Well it gives me more time to get ahead while they stew in their own pity and doubts as they childishly complain about those spreading the word
Thank you for mentioning “not being a victim” because I feel so many younger people, these days, are a victim of everything in life & they use it as an excuse to not have to do anything.
What's gained by "punishing" yourself for not achieving your goal? Simply remind yourself that the end result, if you persist in not reaching goals, you'll die with regret and disappointment. 😮
For months and month I hear the music you're using in the first 30 seconds of your video. I can't find it anywhere. What is the title/artist of this number. Can you please tell me?
Hey Gabe, I hope I can join your WAM group? I’ve tried one before but it was “meh” (basically some guy talking at us not us sharing) would love to if that’s alright. Big Fan all the way from Nicaragua!
Brilliant as always 💚 How long did it take you just to start? It does sound amazing. What book did you open at the start of this post? I've tried so many times. It's time to change.🤟
Hi Gabe,,,I recently found your channel and really enjoy a lot of your content. That being said, the Tesla goal is such a cliche in the TH-cam community,,,and it is really the antithesis of the minimalism lifestyle. I defy anyone to identify any other car that TH-camrs obsess over, other than a Tesla. I don’t want to say it discredits your library of advice on minimalism,,,but it certainly doesn’t support it. LOL.

I meet with other writers every other day and we keep each other on track and accountable. Its helped so much
LOVE EVERY THINK YOU COME UP WITH. YOU MUST PUT ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF TIME INTO EVERY TH-cam
I did this and burned out, but gained a lot of knowledge and recognition from very senior folks in my company.
Put me in that accountability group. I've done this before and it changed my life and clarified my goals.
Great to hear!
@@GabeBultlikewise definitely need it
I would like to join as well

How timely Gabe! Just finished the book 3 weeks ago, and I concur with you, this book is a game changer! I wish I came across it sooner.
I hit my financial goals.
Most important rule is to TALK ABOUT YOUR GOALS!!!
If you don't put those words out there, it'll never happen.
Planning is 75% of any accomplishment. Persistence is the rest.
Great video 👌 thanks 🙏
Amazinggg! Lets do it for the next 12 weeks since NOW! ❤
I know this is random but I really like the background song that plays throughout the video after the intro!
Just bought the book! Thank you Gabe !

You always have great ideas!
I started watching this yesterday but realized it kept me from reaching my goals so I did a workout instead. And came back today to finish the video 😅
I recognized those mill buildings right away! Great content and event better coming from a local guy! 😊 0:08
I was just thinking of this book today and was planning on buying it at some point
It’s a good one!
Awesome Review Gabe!

Hey. Whats the book you open at approx 1:30 - its not the 12 weeks book? Is it a journal or something? 'Limited Edition'. ...

Taking action on the things we KNOW we need to do can be the hardest part 😅

You’ve got a Tesla? You’ve never mentioned/hinted at it…
Yeah he's talked about the tesla in some of his other videos.

If you would have made the video 15 seconds longer, you could have called it how I do more in 12 weeks than others do in 12 months in just 12 minutes.
That would have been good lol
