Thanks for saving me close to 13 minutes of listening to the same advice I’ve heard on a million other videos. (It’s not that it’s bad advice. It isn’t. I’ve just been there done that.)
Very helpful list. "13. Purpose trump's motivation" Having read comments before watching, I was confused at your statement's meaning. Did you mean to copy Donald Trump's source or method of motivation and make it your personal purpose? And then it hit me ah you meant "purpose trumps motivation"! LOL that misplaced apostrophe hehe.
One more tip. Sometimes you have to do more. For those who don’t have enough going on, that can really slow down productivity in all areas of life. As soon as you add more projects and events to your life, you’ll find you can accomplish everything and feel better!
Very insightful video! Also, if you do feel tired after eating and not energized, it could be related to a large insulin spike. This could potentially be fixed by reducing sugars and carbs from your meal and increasing protein and fiber. Processed foods are the most notorious for the drousy or manic feeling after eating. Food should definitely energize you without making you manic or drowsy if you are optimizing your diet!
I’ve been watching your videos for a few years. I almost never follow your tips exactly, but the reason why I watch is because I appreciate your outlook. Find time for what matters, and do less. Watching your content (and others’), normalises my life choices when a lot of the people around me are working themselves into the ground. So, thanks!
My work definitely expands to fill the time. I'm a teacher and I sometimes deliberately don't plan anything until I only have the amount of time I'm paid for. Sometimes I have to plan a few days in advance and unless I'm really strict with myself, I'll spend ages trying to make the lesson perfect rather than stopping when it's good enough (and I'm eating into my free time).
I try to 'front load' most of the day's tasks in my green zone, which is also in the morning. I get more done this way and it allows me to relax later in the day guilt-free.
Your videos are very "watchable". It helps me be more productive and I've been much more focused on finances lately. My goal is to be financially independent in about ten years, when I'm 50. Whether I'll actually retire at that time is unknown, but I'd love to have it as an option!
I just found you. Re: driving to a coffee shop, I was Shocked to realize Just Having other people around makes a ginormous difference. I already do a few of these. Thanks for the confirmation, and the additional tips.
I love productivity content and this was a really interesting video. I just wish there was more productivity content for jobs that are very structured, like teaching where I don't have the opportunity to work within a green zone, work from home, or do a lot of delegating. Now of course, not all of these tips are meant to be perfect for everyone, so I know I just have to find that content that fits that life. Glad I found this video!
Finding your green zone makes so much sense for productivity! Have read many of your book suggestions, and they have enhanced my life, like so many of your videos!
Along with your relocating as you film I have to say I love the esthetic of your home so beautiful! The wood toned door ways the teal walls and the white brick also. Its like seeing my dream esthetic in all your videos, also keeps watchers engaging to take in new surroundings behind you :-)
Omg ...I always did the green and red zone thingy but to hear it out loud makes me feel like I am productive and was doing my best that I can, cause I felt my whole day should be a green zone. Thank you , love your channel and vib.
I have noticed this about my green zone as well of when I am most productive. I also have a bout a three hour window and I try to make sure that I do not run errands during this time that I stick at home and I finish up what’s on my home base plate. Otherwise I waste my time in the car driving instead of getting actual work done. After that I pretty much don’t force myself into doing anything because I know I won’t be very productive, took me quite a while to realize all of this stuff because I wanted to just go full on all day long and it doesn’t work. I’ve been doing this Swiss cheese method for a long time I just call it bit by bit. Slow and steady wins the race and you do get it done as in not ever starting and not getting it done. I did a major landscape project last summer, took me eight weeks as I did about an hour in the morning while it was still cooler outside And then maybe an hour in the evening and I knew this would be the only way that I would do it. Success I had no time limit on this but just continue being steady on it and yes I got it done versus if I would’ve looked at it as a whole project and taking days to do it I wouldn’t of done it. I pretty much do this with everything now that is something that I’m not that excited to do, I just told myself just do this 15 minutes today and eventually it happens. So I may have multiple projects going versus just doing one, it just works for me
I liked your video. Some of the suggestions I have in place, some were reminders. I've retired, so my need to get sorted is more urgent. My overall aim is to live the best I can for these next 15 yr. You know, death cometh, if not before 15 yr. 🙂
I honestly love my commute to work. Used to work from home (which was fine and does save money in the long run) but now I really appreciate the exercise on my bike and in the winter the time on the train to read, look out the window and calm down. I realize that is different to being stuck in traffic, so im very lucky to have public transportation
You may have already done so and I have missed it, but if you haven't there would be a lot of people interested in exactly what equipment, programs and a short overview of exactly how you shoot your videos. They are great by the way. Keep up the great and informative work. Thanks
❤❤This video is golden!! It’s like you evaluated my life. I have ADHD, as well as my husband and daughter. I’ve used some of these hacks Already. Especially the timer. I time everything o do now. It’s so valuable!! Love the cold shower in the morning I’ve been doing it for 4 months now. Love it❤❤
Also….I love making lists I feel like I get waaay more done! I am totally a perfectionist and my son is also. So acknowledging and working on this helps me and it helps my son to be able to tackle early in his life also. I’m so glad I took the time to watch this video!!
Very clever hacks. I've tried a few, they work. Some remind me of The 4 hour week, Tim Ferris. Really interesting, you can feel these are truly irl practised tips
I would like to thank you for using your own footage in your videos. Not sure why it bugs me when people use stock videos, but it drives me nuts! I appreciate your effort and being genuine. 😀
Thank you for all of these great tips! I’m really excited to start so many of them and I know if I can just stick to these my life will change! What are you using to make your to do lists I tend to never look at mine because I lose it or forget since I’m very easily distracted and forgetful. Everything you mentioned is really awesome! ❤
I bought a planner from the Dollar Tree for my daily to do list and it works very well for only $1.25. just put the list in there, bullet journal style, and check off that day or migrate to the next day as needed.
I was thinking the same thing, that I want to share with my teen daughter that is struggling with not submitting her work due to perfectionism. This is great for all ages.
Thank you for sharing all the time saving tricks and hacks, it was amazing knowing the things you talked about in this video. You are literally so wonderful at making things easier for us to follow.
I have the same bio-zone as you have. I am always arguing with myself about when to do exercise. All the experts say that you should get outside in the morning, that getting sunlight early helps you get in a good circadian rhythm and sleep better. (I am kind of a night owl.) If I exercise in the morning, it's during my productive time, so I am not getting stuff done. And, when I come back from exercise, I have to stretch, shower, eat, etc, so by the time I start "working", I'm feeling my slump time. I would much prefer to work early, then eat, then get outside and exercise between about 3-5PM. But then it is hotter in the summer, or getting dark in the winter.
@_monicamjohnson_ Thank you for that suggestion. I have been thinking of this as well - just getting outside in the morning for a quick walk around the block. I can then get my work done first, and save the 1 to 2- hour exercise block for the afternoon, as I really do perform better physically later in the day and it doesn't matter if I am worn out afterwards.
@@Wendathena one point was: Get it done. Not perfect but do it. Move your body. Enjoy the sun. Maybe not at the same time but it will make you happy either way😊
I just watched your video on digital minimalism and you mentioned about the quickness of shorts lowering our attention spans, which I totally agree with. Although I LOVE the concept of shortened books as to consume more content at a faster pace, I wonder if this goes against the idea of slowing down. I do enjoy slowing down and reading a good book. Unfortunately, my attention span has lowered over the years.
what Financial Podcasts do you listen to? Trying to mix up my morning Routines Been loving your videos and outlooks and advice. Definitely been applying bits and pieces daily and becoming a routine for me still got a lot of work to do but getting there.
Great video Gabe - Found your channel today and loved these tips. I am a biz owner (solo operator) and some really solid tips here. Do you also allow yourself to just do things 'spontaneously' at times? I find lately I'm not as creative and feel a little dull/bored/stuck. I hope to get out of that funk soon. Thanks for this video!
The work from home one has the opposite effect for me. I can't focus, my neighbors are very loud, everything takes longer, and it makes it harder to relax when my day is over. Plus the commute acts like a reset button. But I know it's worked well for others.
Yea, and you turn your home into a workplace, which is the exact thing you don't want it to be. Plus, I eat a lot more. But, giving care and consideration it can be a good thing.
I do a version of nearly everything you mentioned here 🎉 the areas I currently struggle with is not responding immediately/not looking at my phone for periods of time and doing less. Currently I'm on a crusade to cut down lots of my commitments as like you say it's ruling my life. Thanks for a great video. Sharing with my community ❤
I really like lots of these tips. Although unfortunately for a lot of people who work in companies they don't have the chance to decide to work in their personal green zones. Would be good if everyone could!
Hi Gabe, I love your channel and advices. Could you make a video about how you find houses, what you look out for and the whole process of how to live in one floor of a house and rent the other ones to other people and make money? Maybe you already mentionend it in other videos but I couldn't find it. Hope you're having a great day :)
If I had to batch your most valuable ideas into 1-3 from this video (actually 3 because it would be hard to choose 1), it would be, 1, Focus on finances 2, Choose 1-3 tasks that are the most important each day (focusing on finances, creating systems, and batching are great tasks to start!) 3, Work from home The rest don't work as well unless you've done these things. They're all good ideas, but I think some of them can be unrealistic for certain professions or situations/seasons of life. One might work during the day, but be more productive during the evening or night (or vice versa). This would prevent good sleep. Still really good principles to follow. I'm sure you're well aware of different job/financial situations or seasons of life which is why you emphasize working from home if possible. Also, for those who lose track of things easily, make sure you prioritize 2 or 3 things that you CANNOT lose and build a habit of always keeping track of them (i.e. keys, phone, wallet, etc).
The first habit is really only for men. Because their hormone cycle is 24 hours long, so it resets each day. This means men have their testesterone high levels at the same time each day. Womens hormone cycle is between 25 and 35 days long. It's divided into four phases. The highest productivity is in the first two phases after the menstrual phase.
You are so right about the Zones!!! I have never thought of this the way that you explained it! Of course, I've noticed it throughout my life but never fully put it into perspective like you did here! My green zone, same as yours! My yellow zone, same as yours! My red zone, EXACT same time as yours!!! The morning during those hours is when I can get the most done and when I feel the most energetic. Then it's all downhill throughout the day from there. I am a single stay-at-home mom to 3 littles, and I wish I had the energy to last all day long especially when I need the energy the most when they kids get home from school but that is when my body wants to power down! Any ideas on how to switch those zones up to become more energized later in the day? Lol, I also love the idea of getting one item on my to do list done before I am able to move onto the next on my list! Definitely a way to work on overhauling my ADHD!! Thanks for all the content, this was a really helpful video!
Hey Gabe. If you read DIVIDEND GROWTH MACHINE by Nathan Winklepleck you'll probably come up with a few youtube video ideas. Takes about 1 hour to read.
The swiss cheese method is like eating a swiss cheese. You don't eat the whole cheese at once, you do it bite-sized pieces. Eating the whole cheese seems way to much. But a little each time will let you do it eventually
Thanks for all these! I'm guessing you are using a food prep or food delivery service. I have done a ton of research, but am never satisfied by the offerings. I love to cook, but the days I have class and work, I don't have the time unless I food prep extra. Any leads? Top favs?
Hi Gabe. Wouldn’t the first part of the video (the quick bright flash) be bad for people prone to epilepsy or photosensitive disorder? I just learned it could cause serious seizures. Hope you could notice this 🙏🏼

Work contract hours, teaching is exhausting nearly total energy transfer (in elementary anyway). Take care and fit prep in contract prep minutes.

If I had to batch your most valuable ideas into 1-3 from this video (actually 3 because it would be hard to choose 1), it would be,
1, Focus on finances
2, Choose 1-3 tasks that are the most important each day (focusing on finances, creating systems, and batching are great tasks to start!)
3, Work from home
The rest don't work as well unless you've done these things.
Take a 30 minute nap when you hit your other zones so you can get back your energy
Any leads? Top favs?
Thankyou for this video!!
My green zone is 1 hr before the deadline
😂
I’ll checkout short form 🎉
Hi Gabe. Wouldn’t the first part of the video (the quick bright flash) be bad for people prone to epilepsy or photosensitive disorder? I just learned it could cause serious seizures. Hope you could notice this 🙏🏼
I love these kinds of videos!
