    There you go fam:
    1. Use your green zone (when you feel the most energetic)
    2. Make it a challenge (Parkinson’s Law)
    3. Don’t answer right away
    4. Don’t read books (sponsor Shortform)
    5. Get some sleep
    6. Cold exposure in the morning
    7. Calculate your hourly rate & delegate accordingly
    8. Use tools to help you stay motivated (audiobooks, TH-cam videos, music) - switch your mindset
    9. Make a to-do list with 1-3 things on it
    10. Batching (cooking, calls, emails)
    11. Study money
    12. Don’t be perfect (perfect is the enemy of done)
    13. Purpose trumps motivation
    14. Finding places for my stuff
    15. Build a system for everything
    16. Eat some Swiss cheese or Swiss cheese method (break your huge goals into small achievable targets)
    17. Switch up your location
    18. Use focus mode on your phone
    19. Try to work from home (save insane amount of commute time)
    20. Try to do less!

      Very helpful list.
      "13. Purpose trump's motivation"
Having read comments before watching, I was confused at your statement's meaning. Did you mean to copy Donald Trump's source or method of motivation and make it your personal purpose? And then it hit me ah you meant "purpose trumps motivation"! LOL that misplaced apostrophe hehe.

One more tip. Sometimes you have to do more. For those who don’t have enough going on, that can really slow down productivity in all areas of life. As soon as you add more projects and events to your life, you’ll find you can accomplish everything and feel better!

You've contradicted yourself in a few of these vids. In one video you say read a different book everyday but in another video you say don't read books. I'm always reading something every single day & I love reading so much.

    Very insightful video!
Also, if you do feel tired after eating and not energized, it could be related to a large insulin spike. This could potentially be fixed by reducing sugars and carbs from your meal and increasing protein and fiber. Processed foods are the most notorious for the drousy or manic feeling after eating. Food should definitely energize you without making you manic or drowsy if you are optimizing your diet!

I love productivity content and this was a really interesting video. I just wish there was more productivity content for jobs that are very structured, like teaching where I don't have the opportunity to work within a green zone, work from home, or do a lot of delegating. Now of course, not all of these tips are meant to be perfect for everyone, so I know I just have to find that content that fits that life. Glad I found this video!

  • @Jane5720

I have noticed this about my green zone as well of when I am most productive. I also have a bout a three hour window and I try to make sure that I do not run errands during this time that I stick at home and I finish up what’s on my home base plate. Otherwise I waste my time in the car driving instead of getting actual work done. After that I pretty much don’t force myself into doing anything because I know I won’t be very productive, took me quite a while to realize all of this stuff because I wanted to just go full on all day long and it doesn’t work.
I’ve been doing this Swiss cheese method for a long time I just call it bit by bit. Slow and steady wins the race and you do get it done as in not ever starting and not getting it done. I did a major landscape project last summer, took me eight weeks as I did about an hour in the morning while it was still cooler outside And then maybe an hour in the evening and I knew this would be the only way that I would do it. Success I had no time limit on this but just continue being steady on it and yes I got it done versus if I would’ve looked at it as a whole project and taking days to do it I wouldn’t of done it.
I pretty much do this with everything now that is something that I’m not that excited to do, I just told myself just do this 15 minutes today and eventually it happens. So I may have multiple projects going versus just doing one, it just works for me

My work definitely expands to fill the time. I'm a teacher and I sometimes deliberately don't plan anything until I only have the amount of time I'm paid for. Sometimes I have to plan a few days in advance and unless I'm really strict with myself, I'll spend ages trying to make the lesson perfect rather than stopping when it's good enough (and I'm eating into my free time).

The first habit is really only for men. Because their hormone cycle is 24 hours long, so it resets each day. This means men have their testesterone high levels at the same time each day.
Womens hormone cycle is between 25 and 35 days long. It's divided into four phases. The highest productivity is in the first two phases after the menstrual phase.

Good clips, thanks. Am I the only person that thinks Parkinson's Law is somewhat ... flawed? Yes, there's truth to it, but surely, giving yourself more time to work on a uni assignment will result in better grades (if time is used wisely). I rushed most my uni assignments and got average grades. The ones I took my time in, I got good grades. Then again, I could have sped up the process of the good grades ones by applying Parkinson's Laws to some stages. Then again, who really cares cause I work in a supermarket now anyway. I Parkinson lawed my entire f***ing life.

1 minute habit: focus for 3 hours on your job
1 minute habit: make it a challenge for several hours
1 minute habit: read summaries that definitely take more than 1 minute
    etc
these are not 1 minute habits - at all. Maybe the cold water one can be considered as such, but the rest are not it. I'm not saying it's bad advice, but it's a misleading and clickbaity title that lower quality TH-camrs use.

The "don't read" version for this:
    Don't
    One item
    Pay others
    Sleep
    Freeze
    Don't email
    ......
It's the shortest possible, contextless version. A twenty minute read of a 13 hour read is not going to get you the info.

I get it. Your channel is about this stuff, and you have some good things to think about. Please think about that precious baby who will be graduating high school in a minute. We live in a time of ME ME ME, all about me. You will say that these things help you to give 'quality' time to your baby. But, do they? Do all of them? Maybe just think about these things, not so much attention to your 'zones' and rush, rush, rush to save time. I like you here, but I love that baby! Thanks.

  • @mattday7788
    @mattday7788 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If I had to batch your most valuable ideas into 1-3 from this video (actually 3 because it would be hard to choose 1), it would be,
    1, Focus on finances
2, Choose 1-3 tasks that are the most important each day (focusing on finances, creating systems, and batching are great tasks to start!)
    3, Work from home
The rest don't work as well unless you've done these things. They're all good ideas, but I think some of them can be unrealistic for certain professions or situations/seasons of life. One might work during the day, but be more productive during the evening or night (or vice versa). This would prevent good sleep. Still really good principles to follow. I'm sure you're well aware of different job/financial situations or seasons of life which is why you emphasize working from home if possible. Also, for those who lose track of things easily, make sure you prioritize 2 or 3 things that you CANNOT lose and build a habit of always keeping track of them (i.e. keys, phone, wallet, etc).

I have the same bio-zone as you have. I am always arguing with myself about when to do exercise. All the experts say that you should get outside in the morning, that getting sunlight early helps you get in a good circadian rhythm and sleep better. (I am kind of a night owl.) If I exercise in the morning, it's during my productive time, so I am not getting stuff done. And, when I come back from exercise, I have to stretch, shower, eat, etc, so by the time I start "working", I'm feeling my slump time. I would much prefer to work early, then eat, then get outside and exercise between about 3-5PM. But then it is hotter in the summer, or getting dark in the winter.

    • @Wendathena
      @Wendathena ปีที่แล้ว +1

@_monicamjohnson_ Thank you for that suggestion. I have been thinking of this as well - just getting outside in the morning for a quick walk around the block. I can then get my work done first, and save the 1 to 2- hour exercise block for the afternoon, as I really do perform better physically later in the day and it doesn't matter if I am worn out afterwards.

I found your channel a while ago but since someone mentioned you reading the Bible, that was a clincher for me to subscribe. I recently unsubscribed from someone else who was using swear words in his video. I didn't need that. I've been trying to stop swearing myself but I just feel that it takes credibility away when people use swear words on their channels.
I noticed that you sit on the floor to eat. That's really cool. It's something I've considered doing, spending more time sitting on the floor. I've heard that it's a good thing.

Also….I love making lists I feel like I get waaay more done! I am totally a perfectionist and my son is also. So acknowledging and working on this helps me and it helps my son to be able to tackle early in his life also.
I’m so glad I took the time to watch this video!!

how long does it take to raise capital? to invent something that works? to test a business idea without spending money??ahhh seee? its not so easy to just estimate where you will be in 5 years...if you cant raise money, or you lose every election at the local level life doesnt give a crap about your ten year plan

The work from home one has the opposite effect for me. I can't focus, my neighbors are very loud, everything takes longer, and it makes it harder to relax when my day is over. Plus the commute acts like a reset button. But I know it's worked well for others.

Yea, and you turn your home into a workplace, which is the exact thing you don't want it to be. Plus, I eat a lot more. But, giving care and consideration it can be a good thing.

I probably misconstrued the meaning of study finance. I'm not as interested in streamlining my ability to make money as I am learning how to not have to use money at all. So I don't need a better understanding of how to make money. I need or more accurately I am more interested in needing less to no money.

Great video Gabe - Found your channel today and loved these tips. I am a biz owner (solo operator) and some really solid tips here. Do you also allow yourself to just do things 'spontaneously' at times? I find lately I'm not as creative and feel a little dull/bored/stuck. I hope to get out of that funk soon. Thanks for this video!

#4 dont agree. I enjoy reading books, you are talking about self development books, but I mostly read fiction and there is nothing about using shortform in that case. Once I had to return book to library in two days, I read 500+ pages in two days and I don't really enjoyed it so much. Usually I read 15-50pages a day and I am enjoying and waiting for time I will be able to read.

The deal is though that your green and red zones and yellow zones don’t always line up with the reality of your situation during when I have a red zone which is usually between 330 and 630 in the afternoon that’s when I need to be doing things for my clients it’s a challenge

Yeah maybe for you, the morning and early afternoon is to do self-care or take care of stuff around the house so you can be motivated and energized enough to do your main work in the late afternoon/evening and be able relax after

I disagree about the whole perfectionism thing. Yeah, you want to be efficient and not get stuck in paralysis by analysis, but you want to avoid that nonsense where that ONE mistake just destroys all the work you got done and/or stops EVERYTHING until you address it.

paying others less than you would charge for a task is simply exploitation. plus, as an employee, you are not allowed to outsource any of your work.

    • @GabeBult
      @GabeBult  ปีที่แล้ว

I would strongly disagree with that not every single person has the exact same skills and is worth the same amount as an accountant. I wouldn’t be worth a dollar an hour. Never mind 100 that I would pay somebody else. It’s literally creating jobs for people.

I honestly love my commute to work. Used to work from home (which was fine and does save money in the long run) but now I really appreciate the exercise on my bike and in the winter the time on the train to read, look out the window and calm down. I realize that is different to being stuck in traffic, so im very lucky to have public transportation
