They were looking at putting in some trams about a decade ago - including on the Otely road past the uni and Headingley. But they got protested out of doing that. :(
Your best work so far. The Leeds metro is something even Londoners are jealous of and my commute from Huddersfield to Leeds is made even easier by being on trains run by Transpennine who are very reliable
I’m a londoner, and jokes aside, I am actually kind of jealous that we don’t get fishbowls and 195s and some more of the fleet in the south

Loved the video lol, though really there honestly should be a metro/tram system of some kind around Leeds, it's literally the only city of that size in the UK that doesn't have one.
Manchester? Trams. (Metrolink)
Birmingham? Trams. (West Midlands Metro)
Liverpool? Metro. (Merseyrail)
Sheffield? Trams. (SuperTram)
Edinburgh? Trams. (Edinburgh Trams)
Glasgow? Metro. (Glasgow Subway)
Newcastle? Metro. (Tyne & Wear Metro)
London? Both. (Underground, DLR & Tramlink)
Even the smaller cities Blackpool and Nottingham have trams. Leeds really needs to catch up.
Only reason Blackpool has trams is because they kept the original one, while all cities/towns in UK removed them
Bristol needs one as well. And South Wales (i.e. a Cardiff-Swansea tram-train network would be nice).

Great video, a perfect blend of satire and fun! Even though in reality I wish Leeds had a system that was at least good enough it could have a video not on April 1st
ironically there is a tramway in leeds/bradford area... called the shipley glen tramway! its only really ran on sundays now but its entirely volunteer lead. some pretty cool history too

I remember visiting Leeds and Bradford on the train when visiting their house.
Apparently there was once a proposal to get rid of that line!

If you came to West Yorkshire 10 years ago there was actually a bus that looked like a tram,it was called the 72:hyperlink that ran between bradford and Leeds but they discontinued it for some reason but look it up on Google,it actually.looked like a trackless tram
72 still exists. They stopped using bendy buses though.

@Cal Alaera Thats how the public transport works in Europe. Less seats, more standing people, more doors, and ticket machines (buying tickets from the driver would cost more money).

i really enjoys this the Leeds Metro is amazing i used the metro when i was up in Yorkshire a few weeks ago the trains on the Leeds to Bradford F S are awesome especally the class 333s & Yorkshire is a lovely county brilliant video
That was pretty good. Loved the pointless journeys, not sure how you'd do them without using that train or walking (Well, not in a boring manner anyway). Good pick on the "Trackless tram" to get, the 110 bus is very reliable cause it take the back way out of Leeds so it doesn't get stuck in Leeds.
Joking about aside, this is basically why I think a Regional Metro in WY is a great idea. Everywhere big/of note is ~20 miles or less apart, the biggest changes are some separation from national rail line and new rolling stock. You put the frequencies on these lines and boom, much better serves to a lot of places.

Leeds have such great transit infrastructure pointless journeys trackless trams that are never delayed or cancelled especially route 110 what a delight!
When I first heard about these “trackless rubber tyre trams”, I thought isn’t that a bus 😂 great video anyway 👍🏻
I hope you share this with Leeds City Council who probably now do believe buses are trams!! I know people who have spent the whole career working on various tram projects for Leeds and so far delivered nothing. I remember attending a meeting of councillors who said they wanted to invest in a rapid transport ‘system’ that may not currently exist!

Very funny. Knowing how there were articulated buses in Swansea with Metro on them, it's not so far fetched.
And they were actually IN Leeds/Bradford before that, and also spent some time in York
ah, it's always nice to see other train nerds visiting my old local branch- one stop over and you would have been in my home town, burley in wharfedale.
I remember being really small and getting the train into leeds with my dad; I'd have an optometrist's appointment near his work, and I'd get to commute in with him. it was always a special event.

I know this video is now a year old but at last a train(erm tram) youtuber has visited the city were I am currently sat and that`d the Merry city that is Wakefield. I noticed you walking past the former cinema whilst walking down to Wakefield Kirkgate, That building has now been demolished and is now earmarked (like cattle) for MORE housing. If you walk past Kirkgate you will find the joys of the River Calder and the Hepworth art gallery that well worth a visit.
Later in the year you need to come to Manchester to try out the new yellow trolley-buses that are being introduced.

Leeds trams. Of course a few years back they had those Wrightbus Streetcar things that ran on guided busway which you can argue were rubber tyred trams. I assume you were making a nod to those in the video.
Leeds does kind of have a Metro with the Metrotrain brand. Of which one of their signs arrived at St Budeaux in Plymouth two years ago
glad to see that they are saving OLD BUILDINGS......even if turning them into housing......
Menston is the closest station to Otley, the train service from there to Leeds is so slow that if you are in Otley (which lost its line and station) it is as quick to take a bus.
i remember in the early 2010s when i used to drive the trams they had this circle to stear the tram incase of any issues on the line
I was going to say we don’t have any trams here but we have uncovered some old tracks for them.
The fun is great. Hope you can explore more real Belgian trams in Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels, and Coastal Trams if you could afford it, or I'd love to sponsor if I were rich.

What happened to the FTR, which really did look like a tram?
Reminds me: Wiesbaden in Germany only uses those rubbertyre trams without rails. They had the chance to get avreal tram but refused to build it. And now they scrap their hydrogen fueled ones and buy more diesel powered ones. So, you certainly can be worse than Leeds and go backwards.

Correction....its not the Leeds metro,its west Yorkshire metro,its a commuter network in West Yorkshire and the Red "tram" stop you saw is actually a bus stop 😂 but despite you embarrassing yourself by thinking bus stops are tram stops and buses are trams like an idiot etc....I do enjoy your videos,why don't you ride the Sheffield trams
