  • The Fellow Stagg EKG Kettle is an electric temperature variable kettle. The best kettle for pour over coffees but would make an ideal tea kettle and would be perfect for home use.

Brew better coffee with the gold standard of water kettles: the Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Kettle. Featuring a control-enhancing gooseneck spout, variable temperature control, and a matte black facade that looks stunning in any kitchen or cafe, this kettle has taken the coffee industry by storm as a world-favorite.
The thin, perfectly curved spout gives you complete control over the speed and placement of your water pour, enabling you to saturate the grounds evenly and achieve a more balanced extraction when making pour over coffee.
No stovetop is needed with this kettle-just press the dial to get the water started. The dial also allows you to set a target water temperature from 57 to 100° C, with the reading on the LCD display.
You can also use a built-in stopwatch feature in the LCD screen to track your extraction time. The HOLD button sets the kettle to keep your water at the target temperature for one hour.
The 900ml kettle itself is a work of art, featuring a minimalist and matte black facade. It looks stunning in any cafe or kitchen. The handle is natural to hold, thanks to the ergonomic shape and counterbalance.

Good, helpful, concise, and informative--thanks for this excellent review! I've been looking for someone to comment on the utility of this kettle for tea.

Not sure I’d have the patience to play ‘snake’ on that tiny display, but it’s a really cool kettle

How does it actually pour compared to the Brewista kettles you also stock? Which do you prefer?

I'd say the Fellow pour much slower in a finer stream. - A little more titl if you want to get a fast pour going - whereas the Brewista is capable of s slow pour but I would say at the same tilt is about 30-40% faster in it's pour rate

I wanted to know if the new EKG Plus with Bluetooth feature is really worth shedding some extra money for it? Like the difference is 149$ vs 199$.

Bluetooth Feature I find too often I never use - wether it's scales, brewers, kettle, espresso machines even some commercial grinder... If this is the only thing that seperate the two models - consider if you're a person who uses these blue-tooth functions alot. - It does also have 100 recipes in the app ..

Have you tested the Chemex Chettle? Also, how does this kettle compare to Bonavita kettle?

I haven't yet, but am keen! The Fellow EKG has a larger range of heating than the rest of the kettles, (40ºc - 100ºc vs. 60ºc - 100ºc) .. Its aesthetics are admirable and different to the rest of the kettles. . that's the major differences - although some kettles have an auto-on function which I do like, the EKG has a brew timer.. so it's tit-for-tat really.. I only brew with two temperatures at the end of the day .. 80ºc & 94ºc... so how much more do I need?

@@AlternativeBrewing I am fairly certain the Bonavita also has a brew timer. Also, one nice feature of the Bonavita is the rapid boil function. You can have it set to 205 degrees F and without upsetting the set temperature, select rapid boil. The Fellows most likely heats faster. The Chemex looks like an elegant design, and with glass you can see the water. I like that feature, but the induction method they use appears to be kind of noisy.

I can not decide between this and the corvo non gooseneck one. I don't do a lot of tea, don't do pour over coffees, sometimes a french press, but partner drinks tea. not sure which is the best.

I find the gooseneck, more aesthetically pleasing and there's no issues pouring with it fro your day to day

Hi I have a question. Does the kettle always automatically boil the water before it goes down to the temp you set? I tested it with less water than the min line but it went to a higher temp than set and then went lower than my set temp. And you should set the temp before you put the kettle on right? Because as soon as you set it it automatically starts brewing?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

It won't begin heating the water up until you press the button. Before this, you're able to set the temperature you want - than press the button down and it will begin heating to that temp. Do not use too little water - as this will over-heat and boil dry the kettle thermometer and break the kettle. So always have a good amount of water in there to begin with 😀

I just bought one, and it will not heat up. I tried different electric outlets, the unit does not work.
