I think the awkward lid James hoffmann mentioned was the square one. Where you can literally drop into the kettle itself.
Bit late to the party - thanks for the helpful review! I believe the boiling 'issue' is normal (the manual states that it technically goes up to 98 celcius not 100). Boiling point also varies depending on how high or low above sea level you are so that's another factor to consider. I've noticed for example that where I am the water goes to a rolling boil before reaching 100 celcius.
I have also noticed that too regarding the rolling boil. I never knew it was rated to 98 Celsius so that’s good to know!

How well does it hold the temperature on the Hold setting? ie. how many degrees will the temp drop before it starts heating again?
I haven’t used the feature in anger to be honest so let me give it a test and get back to you.
Thought I had replied sorry! Roughly 2/3 degrees and it will start to heat again. Dependant on what temp you have set.

How was the pouring experience and flow control? Have you ever compared with another brand?
Really good. I have another kettle (brewista) where the spout tip is not as angled/sharp plus a wider diameter so pouring is not as precise . I like the small capacity of the Timemore, also helps with the control.
Can it hold the temprature back automaticaly after pouring?

@@fhmcoffee having tested yes it does. Set it to whatever temp you want and hit the hold button. If the water has cooled or you have added some say for another cup it will automatically heat back up to the set temperature just don’t turn the kettle off for this to work.

I purchased the 0.8L version of that kettle last night. Do you mind if I ask what scale you use and how you like it? Looking for a scale myself.
Great purchase. I use the timemore black mirror nano which is amazing. I have made 2 videos on it. Basically a scaled down Acaia Lunar for a lot less money. Depends on budget really.

I am glad to hear you like your Timemore kettle. I should receive mine today. Last night when I was reviewing scales, I saw the Acaia scales but wow they are expensive. There are some positive and negative reviews of some of the other Timemore scales but the reviews seem to be a bit better than the Hario v60 scale. I'm just getting into pour over coffee and have used french press, and percolators.Need to find the scale and then decide on the Hario V60 Drip Decanter or the Hario V60 Glass Range Coffee Server, 600ml. I also think I will pick up the Hario V60 Metal Coffee Dripper, Size 02, Silver vs the ceramic dripper. Any thoughts from you on drip equipment would be welcomed as it seems you may have more experience than me. For example, if you use 30 mL of coffee, how much water are you supposed to use? Also need to pick up a manual coffee grinder.
@@linux_admin2501 I am indeed. Pack a coat and cold weather clothes. Thats our climate pretty much all year! I used a £15 scale before the timemore black mirror nano and it did the job just not as well and the small size is perfect below my espresso machine. There is so much pour over kit out there. V60 and flat bottom brewers are what I commonly use. Hario V60 is cheap and great, kalita wave 185 is my go to flat bottom with the Orea V3 on the way soon. In terms of coffee ratio I brew 16/1 so 20g of coffee I brew with 320g of water. Hope that helps. Grinders again is a whole world in itself. Commandante V40 is a great folter grinder but not cheap either.
@@SteveHowkins Wow, I like that Kalita Wave 185. May decide on that one vs the metal Hario v60. I did a quick search for the Orea V3 but looks like it may only be available in the UK at the moment. I appreciate the info on how much water to use for 20g of coffee. I need to learn those measurements. I have a cheap manual grinder from Amazon, but it takes forever to grind the beans. I will check out those Timemore and Commandante v40 grinders as well. Someday I would like to purchase an Espresso machine for home use but since there are so many out there it is hard to choose. I saw someone in a scale review mention the Gaggia Classic espresso machine.
Do you still use the Hario V60 Glass Range Coffee Server, 600ml that I saw in your Timemore kettle review?

I use the Gaggia Classic. I great machine with many mods you can do.
I do still use both the 300ml and 600ml Hario servers, no complaints.
Is this the 800 ml or 600 ml ?
Believe mine is the 800 but it comes in both sizes.

It does as long as you only turn the unit itself off and not all the wall. It needs the standby power if you like to retain setting
