Welcome to Marks Mini Cooper S Mk3 built in 1970 and registered in 1971. This Cooper S was last restored in 1997 and featured in Mini World magazine. Unfortunately 23 years down the line and it's looking tired in some areas so Mark has decided to take it off the road for a full restoration which will involve stripping it back to a bare shell, sandblasting, and a respray. Fortunately, the engine has already been restored recently by Swiftune engineering - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

Great work there Mark and glad you went for the rivet rather than the screw. That’ll hold it far longer and hopefully solve a problem that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Quite a bit of garage envy with the collection of beauties. Madgwick and Era to name a few. 👌

Hi Mark. I had the exact same problem recently when I assembled the doors. I ended up cutting off the two metal lock strips from the Check Arms as I feared it would only be a mater of time before the other spot welds would fail. Like you said I'll be double checking everything on the next one. 👍

@@markdraper7 I spent a good few hours with my head in my hands thinking it was one of my welds that had let go. Fingers crossed the rear subframe hold up 🤞

Wonderful job you are doing Mark. Agree that the rivet should be more permanent fix. I like the way the door shuts to. what door rubbers did you use as the ones from Minispares are too thick making the door stand out.
Thank you John. I got all of the rubbers from Phoenix trims and they seem much better than rubbers from other suppliers. 🙂
@@markdraper7 Cheers for the info. on the rubbers, will order a set as the seals I have leave the doors slightly proud of the body.

I agree Mark that the spot weld giving way on the door opening restrictor was very poor quality control by Heritage.. I think the rivet was the best solution, but I understand your frustration with it. Otherwise it's all looking excellent apart from your closing shot of that fuel tank ?
