It was great to hear the story of Swiftune, a modern mini tuning firm. Back in my mini racing days such firms didn't exist, it was all DIY. I stopped racing in 1963/4 after the introduction of Broadspeed's S's. There was no way that we could complete with them and their (relatively) vast resources. By the way I was a member of TEAC when they invented rallycross and involved in its promotion.
Wonderfull mini company and familly. I had the luck to sleep in their campsite in last september and Nick offer me a full of passion magic 2 hours factory tour. Thanks a lot one more time Nick and Ali ! David from Belgium.
I used to do a lot of business with the late Keith Ripp back in the day & I remember your father. I hillclimbed & raced a Cooper S in the late 60,s,early 70,s.Special saloons then Miglia in 1974.We used to do a whole season on about a grand!!;would.nt pay for the sandwiches now!!
Absolutely brilliant, had to watch it twice, same sense of humor, cool chap,'mizog', haven't heard that in years.Great vid. entertaining, informative doing what he loves with his family.
Hello Nick ,just wanted to say that was a really interesting programme. I’m sorry the blocks you sent Capricorn did not work out for you , I had one as well. When if we chat ill update you . Best regards Bruce Penrose
Great video and story. I especially loved the engine development, specs, head castings etc. My pal since we were kids Graham Davies (rip) worked for Downton engineering and on their famous A40. A genius mechanic since he was 18 got me totally interested and involved in his racing world, so i thoroughly enjoyed this video, thanks.👍✌️🇬🇧
One of my favorite guys to watch racing against Alfas, Cortinas American V8's etc. Magical. Also got a SW5 cam in my car. May you continue long into the future.
Awesome! One of my favourite parts of Goodwood is when Nick comes out in his Mini and embarrasses the larger cars. I have a "new" Mini Cooper so when there's a Mini in the race, that's who i'm cheering for. :)
Hahaha I remember rallycross from back in the day …as a kid I didn’t realise there were different racing series but loved BTCC because my father’s car was on track …and then rallycross had cars racing on a dirt…so just like me racing my toy cars in the back garden 😂😂😂 Ps Nick looks way younger than I imagined lol….I swear watching the in car footage of him racing at Goodwood ALWAYS puts a smile on my face! Would love to be a passenger with him in one of the Minis tearing around Goodwood 😈😈😈
Swiftune probably have more experience of extracting maximum power from A-Series engines than anyone. Their crankshafts with two dummy main journals and extra counterweights are brilliant.
Hi Nick Out of interest, what camshafts do you use? or do you manufacture your own? In the days when I had a 1275 I put , I think it was BL 88g229, with more valve open times than a 1/2 race cam, made it quite a lumpy engine but boy, did it go!.
Issigonis tried to replace the "A" engine with a flat four in both the Morris Minor and then the Mini, but here we are with that obsolete long-stroke engine designed to beat the English tax systems still being refined.
That was thoroughly entertaining by a genuine guy who knows his stuff ! 🇬🇧👍🏻😉
My favourite thing about Goodwood is Nick Swift and the Minis’ Wilo3 and the Patrick Motorsport mini are my dream cars 😊
The Minis versus the American barges at Goodwood is probably the best spectacle in motorsport.
number one engine builder. Your dad built a970s for my autocross mini in the 70s.and I have a1293 from you still going strong some 27 years later .
I loved watching these cars racing at Mosport back in the 60's.

Great segment gentlemen, thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story.
11:03 A joyous noise. Enjoyed this, especially the insight into engine development. So cool!
I agree, it was GRAND!🙏🏻🎧🏁
Yeah Nick Swift is an integral part of Goodwood! He's awesome 👨Roy

Nick Swift summed up; Been there, got the T shirt, made the T shirt fashionable again. Genuinely nice chap.
My late Father use to race and build Mini engines 100mph was a big deal ❤
😂bit of a ‘dangerous dad’ nice one
I see Mini's, I *_HAVE_* to drop a like.

I bet anyone that one day Lewis Hamilton will 100% drive a Mini like Nick at a Goodwood race.
Just picked up my car from him :)

Sehr geil from Germany
Has anyone built a replica of the Richard Longman Paper Chase MKII Copper S. Two tone green. My favourite Mini of all times.
Seems there’s a market to make a NEW Mini engine for purchase.
Why did they not use the K 1400cc engine in the last original Mini?
It was a bit to tall, think I’am right in saying there’s one at gaydon with a K series in and the gearbox is 2 inches above the deck!!!
I had a 61 austin 7 I paid £25 out of the guys garden put about 10 hours in it and was offered £500 wish iI had kept it
Why is the Neanderthal using a hammer on the milling machine bed.
Maybe because he couldn’t get the valve seats in place by saying “please”?
Enfin rover avec nous a dakart dakart les rover Peugeot ne pouvait que être une obligation merci les cousins 🙏😑🤲🇫🇷👉😇
The car is too low.
