Diagnosed with fatty liver and fibromyalgia. It led to Ibs. They put me in low fodmap, they put me on aip, nothing worked. I put myself on keto, now ketovore, and guess what? Everything is getting better.
JUST Meat and nothing else huh? The Hosts here say they eat other things like onions, avocados, fish, shellfish etc... PLUS @Sarai_Anna_bornagain says she is on A KETOVORE diet. Not just Carniovore! @@GameChangers777.
Again. Diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver 2 years ago. Been on carnivore for a year. Just had my bloodwork done to include cholesterol panels. All are normal! Doctors are asking what I’m doing. lol.
I've been on carnivore for 2 months now. My story... I'm a 5'3" short guy. I was 230 lbs. last year. I was on 2 medications to control HBP & a statin. I began exercising & making better food choices. I got stuck around 175 lbs. Started carnivore and now down to 155. I'm off all meds & feeling great aside from impingement in my R shoulder. I still take a multivitamin & iodine drops though. I do need to get labs & physical done, which I do annually. It will be interesting to see how they go. I'm glad I stumbled onto your channel.
@boblaser7385 I will. I've always had a problem with it. There just isn't enough room in my shoulder for the muscles/tendons to move correctly. I had decompression surgery on my L already while my R already sounded like ripping chicken bones apart. Grind, snap, crackle, pop. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll gladly give it a shot.
If someone was recently diagnosed with (quite advanced) Barrett’s Oesophagus and advised to take 2 types of PPI’s therefore reducing stomach acid production, would it still be possible to digest beef and lamb efficiently enough to benefit or would the acid reduction impact the digestiblilty of the meat? Conventional advice is reduce the fat intake but it’s hard to find anyone here who would understand carnivore let alone accept it as a possible solution. Any comments welcome (except to increase stomach acid, that is not possible for now)
I tested in March. Total cholesterol was 472. Glucose, 95. Triglycerides, 85. HDL, 48. 2 years ago, CAC score was 32. I'm 71 years old and generally work out 5 days a week. I've eaten carnivore for almost 6 years. I feel great.
I've been carnivore for just over a year and will be getting my labs done soon and expecting great things. Lost 60 pounds and reversed type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure! Just ate 10 farm fresh eggs fried in butter and feeling fantastic!
I had painful aches in my feet every morning, snoring like crazy, hyper tension, and prediabetic. Ive been on this diet over 2 weeks now and lost 20lbs, feet dont ache anymore, my snoring isnt completely gone yet but has gone feom a chainsaw every night to now a paper shredder once every 3 or so days and getting better. As for my hyper tension and pre-diabetic symptoms, i won't know until my 30-day check. So far, so good. Thank you, Dr. And also thanks to those who comment.
4 weeks into carnivore I had labwork done. My Dr was super happy with my improvement in most areas! This is week 6 and looking forward to new labwork in 10 weeks!
I don't understand my labs and mine are not details like yours Dr. Berry. But I feel good and no longer diabetic also no longer morbidly obese. Thank you for the proper diet for humans!
I live in Canada, I don’t have a family doctor, but I do go to a walk-in clinic that I see the same doctor all the time. He was the doctor who ordered the CAT scan after I passed out and hit my head. I saw him for the first time after losing 50 pounds I’m now 149 lb, he was so excited for me. I just said I lost it by no sugar and low carbs and he said keto, he said I do keto and I got my whole family on it. I needed some medication and he said to me he said I’m doing a whole panel of bloodwork because I may not need as high dose of Synthroid. I am so happy that I have found a doctor that believes in keto.
Dr. Berry & Neisha, thanks so much for sharing and all you do. I started carnivore in early January and am down 25lbs, A1C down to 6.1 so now in pre diabetic range vice type II, brain fog gone, fatty liver reversed with normal enzymes from panel, etc. Long way to go and yes my cholesterol is 246 total with low HDL and high LDL but i refuse statins. CAC test tomorrow. May you be blessed the way you both have helped and blessed so many of us!!😇🥰
That's it. This proved to me this way of eati gwould be the best to get rid of all my inflammation from my autoimmune diseases. Thank you . I eat a ton of eggs too!
I'm a newbie a carnivore... can't wait to see how my kidney numbers are at day 90. I'm only at stage 2, but have several family members with kidney disease. They are petrified about me doing this kind of eating. I'm praying for good results, getting off of HBP meds and curing my fibro and arthritis! Thanks for sharing your labs.
I'm shocked that my A1c is lower than either of yours! Type 2 since 2000, now off all meds and insulin completely for overv5 years. A1c 4.8. Definitely PHD, very close to carnivore. Feeling proud.🙂
Thank you! that was really awesome. I have seen other people saying, Dont just believe what Berry says, he's never even shown you his labs. So this is really helpful. Thank you again
Thanks for sharing. With anything your mileage may vary, and that's very true for diet as well. I have been restricting carbs for about 6 months now and have really restricted sugar and carbs since an 18 day stay in the hospital where they pulled around 70lbs of fluid off of me at the end of Nov 2023( night and day difference real fast, went in at 372 come out 301). As a Diabetic I have seen the benefits of a low carb diet (most days 60grams of carb or less a day). I call it " giving my pancreas time off". To the Doctors I tell them that "I am carb restricting a bit more than the south beach diet calls for" And doing this I have lost another 27 pounds the first 3 months of this year and still going. Restricting carbs has been my best diet, one I can live with. No hunger, well nothing that can't be fixed with some meat. So far my 3 doctors reaction is wow your loosing weight quick, keep going. I still have a way to go, but I'll get their. I appreciate you sharing you experience and knowledge with us. It took me a long time to come to this type of diet. Your mileage may vary of course, this works for me.
Thank you both for being so open and honest about these results. I think this will help many people to better understand their own health and lab markers!
Recently had bloodwork done. LDL of 280, Triglycerides at 83, HDL at 47. My doctor freaked out and told me Im going to die. A1C is 5.2 and CRP is .92. Im still a little scared but this video along with many others of Dr. Berry’s is comforting.
I have the same issue with my LDL - my doc wants me on statins and I refuse. I use to be low on my junk vegetarian diet that was killing me. And now I’m Healthy on Keto/carnivore and list 45 lbs and feel better than ever!
That is a terrible report, but you should just order an ApoB test on your own. If it is normal, then I wouldn’t worry about your LDL-C. If it is elevated (and Dr. Barry is extremely high), then you are at high risk of cardiovascular disease. Risk follows ApoB.
May your faith in God bring you peace hope and love to your heart and everlasting joy to your soul may the blessings of the Lord shine upon you this blessed holy resurrection Sunday and always praise God praying for everyone everyday God bless you all
@steveguiti6452 I watch for your love of God on many podcasts, haven't seen your comments in awhile, glad to hear from you hope all is well. God bless. 🙏❤️✝️
Thanks to the both of you. Lab work as always been confusing to me. With this pod cast I am less confused now. Thanks for sharing you labs. I've been ketovore over two years now. 😊
Scurvy and beriberi are both vitamin deficiencies, as you know. But what isn't discussed is that you have to be extremely malnourished to get symptoms of these diseases. Sailors got these diseases because the ship owners fed the crew with the cheapest thing they could, usually grains. The officers didn't suffer from these vitamin deficiencies because they were eating a better diet. It's not like fruit was being flown around Northern Europe when these were discovered. So, they really aren't a concern.
Worth knowing I had (past tense) very mild symptoms of both for years. Bleeding gums, etc. In spite the fact I took vitamins supplements! Lo & behold now that I'm a newbie carnivore it's all GONE! BTW I don't take any supplements now! The most I do, is get some liver maybe once a month, tops. Honestly because I like it. 🙂
Ships biscuit, hard as a rock and not terribly nutritious, they also thought scurvy came from not being clean or being to lazy or other excuses. "Two Years Before the Mast" is a good read about the life of a common sailor on a commercial transport ship in the early 1800s.
Thank you so much 😊 I being eating the propped human diet for 3 weeks and I next week I getting my labs tested. I learned so much from your life experience ❤ THANK YOU 🙏
I would never underestimate the value of fat and red meat…but …I take a long list of vitamin supplicates. Every day ..my blood tests are always perfect except for cholesterol ..like you , I’m not concerned about it …I’m eighty one and limber as a child ..moving a lot is necessary .. …Recently , I was diagnosed with cervix cancer …was tempted to do nothing, ..I’ve asked God to heal me and I’m believing for that , ..however I may take radiation , if they keep it as low as possible ..going to city of hope cancer center tomorrow and must make a decision…prayers will be appreciated .

Ask Dr. Robert H. Lustig. He says that the "normal" or "average" lab numbers are worthless because almost all Americans are pre-diabetic. The lab measurements today are far higher than the "normal" or "average" measurements that he saw when he was a medical student 50 years ago. Normal is pre-diabetic, not healthy.
@@alexr6114yrs because the averages are calculated based on all people who take the measurements, including a large percentage of sickly and fat people. So you don't really want to compare yourself to sick people.
My history of UT infections is outrageous! Have been too many specialist. The last ones put me on a very expensive high vitamin C treatment! Guess what, it did nothing except give me heartburn! It would be wonderful to see if by being on this diet will help my UT infections go away! Because all these specialists have not done a dang thing to help that’s for sure Thank you for all the information that you all provide very much appreciated by myself and my husband
Male 57 years old been Keto for last 3 years or so and Carnivore since the start of this year. Last year I had 6 months of consecutive water infections. Yes you heard that, right SIX MONTHS ! Went to see a Urology specialist, he undertook all the usual procedures only to reveal the infection had cleared up and I'd been asymptomatic for probably the 3 weeks prior to seeing the specialist. Like I said I've been full on Carnivore since January the 2nd and as of yet no infections. Fingers crossed with that one.
You should sit on the toilet for a minute or two after your urine stream seems finished. Relax and just sit there and you may have some more come out because your bladder didn’t empty completely. I had horrible uti for years and when I started doing that I never got one again and that was decades ago.
@@loriegosnell9355 I already have been doing that and it has helped some But it has not helped with the bladder control! I’ve done all the exercises and they cannot tell me why this is happening!
Thank you for sharing these with us. Really interesting (but not unexpected:) results. Glad you clarified the fasting times; which I had thought were a little longer than recommended. Very much appreciated.
Dear Ken & Mrs. Berry, you 2 are fantastic examples of healthy human diet. ❤❤ keep up the great work on spreading the truth about eating carnivore as a diet source.
I started carnivore Sept. 2023 to try to improve my biweekly diverticulitis episodes. I have had no episodes since then. BTW my lipids and A1C all improved significantly in just three months. I am confident my next labs in June of this year will show even more improvement. Another BTW is a two-inch smaller waist.
I have inherited high cholesterol levels too and have a calcium score of zero for the last three tests. Triglycerides are 61 and HDL is 68. My cardiologist is not concerned at all and doesn’t insist on a statin. Love the Keto way of life😊
Hi emme do you live in the UK My total cholesterol has just come back at 7 my dr said I have to go on a statin all the channels I watch are American and I can't compare them Would you know if total cholesterol at 7 is bad enough to go on a statin .
I had a heart attack at 7.2. Don’t listen to these baffoons. Get your Apob checked through a company called Thriva. Watch your LDL. Anything above 4.9 may mean Familial hypercholesterolaemia. Don’t ignore the doctor. If you saw a lipidologist you would soon see the light. This is a cult that you are viewing. Beware and wake up.
CAC just measures hard plaque. My score was 12. Cardiac catheterization discovered 3 blockages. 90% and two at 70+%. Just because someone has a low CAC doesn't mean there's no atherosclerosis.
Following your proper human diet I’ve made amazing progress with my health in the past 6 months! Thank you for making it available and for all of your excellent videos
Just finished watching a video lecture by Dr. Paul Mason on the benefits of LDL and how people with low LDL are the ones having the heart attacks so good job Dr. Berry I prefer to follow your advice❤️
I've been on carnivore for a year lost 75 lbs blood work was way below target, but my doctor said that I was pre diabetic at a a1c of 5, before it was 9 I said no im post diabetic
I’m 70 and recently took a spill on my e-bike. I had road rash from parking lot asphalt on all arms and legs. Big ones. I never cleaned the wounds. Just let nature take its course and the healing seemed faster than in the past. Tells me I’m healthy. Ketovore
Natural defense is awesome-have had wounds (stitches galore) dog bites etc. with tissue and “elec” tape and never an infection, absolutely not into meds of any kind ( carnivore diet 74 years old)
Good day and good greetings from Canada. Thank you both for sharing this information, educational, and very useful. I am starting to understand my lab results better now. I'm now eating 70 percent wild red meat, 5 percent white meat, 5 percent fish, 10 percent eggs, the remainder of my diet consists of berries (blue berries & raspberries), some nuts, alternating with (1 yellow golden apple one day and 1 orange the next day) even a very limited amount green & white vegetables (broccoli, asparagus and cauliflower only), small amount ofsweet potatoe in the airfryer as treat, some beets and coleslaw mix with very small amount of dressing, small amounts of popcorn as movie night snack. No white potatoes, rice, flour, or pasta. Started my first lab work in mid January, and my doctor requires quarterly (every 3 months) results. Most of my numbers have dropped significantly. Some of my examples: My a1c dropped by 17.9 percent in 90 days, my triglycerides dropped by almost 41 percent in same period, and other positive results as well. So I'm about 90 percent carnivore and it is working for me. Before watching your program and switching my diet, I always felt in a haze not able to concentrate, tired, no energy, not sleeping. That has all changed dramatically all in only about 6 months. Thanks
2 yrs ago cac total 43.6 , after being harassed by endo to take statins for atherosclerosis, I asked if I had atherosclerosis. She said she didn't know, I'd have to see a cardiologist for that. Asked her if she wanted to prescribe prophylactic statins. She said yes. I said no, asked for a referral to cardiology. Just had a CCTA, will see if I have disease.
Excellent ! Watching this and I see the book 'Common Sense Labs' Dr Berry & Kim Howerton was delivered to my mail box. Normally I would wait for the rain to stop but not when I know something good was in my mail box !
PS My daughter mention to me yesterday(Easter) she was getting me labs for BD & fathers day with a new company that has a annual subscription that has a lot of test they do. I looked at her app & results. Besides the ranges you can click on each of the names of test & it explains what they are for, like kidney inflammation & so on. May even try to explain causes of H and/ Low readings. Not cheap but if I remember right, don't quote me but site said 100 labs for $499.
I had several tests in my cart with 'Request A Test' which I used once before. Just waiting for Dr Berry's book, but I think my quote for the tests in my cart were around $900. I was just going to do what I could afford and split my wish list up. I think the Functional Health program includes most of these. Heading to my mail box for Berry's book on labs
@@MichaelDirk - Well and good; it doesn’t meet the definition of a LMHR, which, according to the people who invented the definition of the phenotype, is specifically LDL > 200, HDL > 80, TRG < 70, as well as other criteria not given here.
Thank you both for this! But I believed you all anyways. I think this way of eating is so much better than any I have ever done before. But it's still good to know,we are On the right track!💓
What's interesting Dr. Berry is that the HDL/TRIGLYCERIDE ratio correlates with LDL-P....this proves what I have researched with Dr. Attia's meta study. He found that if the HDL/TRIGLYCERIDE ratio is under 4, the LDL-P will be normal. So basically, if your HDL/TRIGLYCERIDE ratio is good, so is your LDL-P. That's what I got from Dr. Peter Attia's meta study on cardiovascular events correlating with disregulated LDL-P.
Dr. Berry, while Homocysteine (Hcy) of 15 is within the “normal range,” it puts you at risk of stroke. If you are homozygous for MTHFR C667T, this can increase Hcy which can easily be decreased by taking Methylated B vitamin. Took me 6 months to decrease Hcy from 12 to 9. Optimal Hcy is 5-7. Do not want it to fall below 5. Also, alcohol consumption can increase Hcy so avoid / limit alcohol consumption.
A bunch of Korean centenarians had Homocysteine levels of about 25 umol/L. 2012 study: Discovery of Novel Sources of Vitamin B12 in Traditional Korean Foods from Nutritional Surveys of Centenarians.
My Homocysteine was tested after a stroke aged 34, it was 9. They found I had a PFO (hole in heart) but decided not to close it. I suffered another two strokes last year aged 52, my homocysteine was just under 8.
I love this video!! I educated my doctor about how I need to start carnivore for autoimmune issues, inflammation, a lot of GI issues, and fibromyalgia. I tried keto back in 2019, my doctor freaked out and I took their advice and stopped when my labs came in. I just signed up for a patient portal to the lab I've been going to since 2011. I saw all my labs. my LDL was still high but lowered 50 points in 2019 when I was on keto 3 months than it had ever been in my adult lab history. I educated them this time that my body will need time to adjust and to not freak out about my cholesterol levels, I went in like a scientist/researcher (in college for psychology, this term has a research methods class) with a plan and the exact supplements I will take (just found about Orotate for the important electrolytes and the homemade powder mix I'll be doing) and she was on board with it, she wants to see me monthly and do labs at least every 3 months for monitoring while I take my health into my own hands since Fibromyalgia is so misunderstood in traditional medicine. I'm the heaviest I've ever been, almost 37 in a month, and at 361 lbs (5ft4in tall) - I'm sick and tired of it all in the metaphorical and literal sense. Glad to see there's a community with a decent monthly membership fee! Thank y'all!
I’m 59, 6’01” 203 lbs. I’ve been vegetarian for 10 years. My limbs are thin but my midsection is fat asf. The dangerous type of fat. In the last 10 years my BP has gone from normal to 180/95 without the valsartan and amlodipine I’m taking. I’ve gained 30 lbs, I snore, have sleep apnea, little energy, lost testosterone, lost vitality, have urticaria, have autoimmune symptoms, dangerously low B12, low D3, high cholesterol, high LDL, low HDL, high triglycerides, prediabetes, and chronic digestive problems. As of 4-8-2024 I am going on the carnivore diet. I hope to be able to update this comment with positive results.
If you haven't destroyed your liver, pancreas, and thyroid I think you will be very pleasantly surprised. And it doesn't sound like you have, yet! I was never vegetarian except for 9 months and quitting after a few bouts of narcolepsy, but did eat "clean whole foods" type of diet low in saturated fat and minimal meat/animal products for 10 years and ended up in your current state, not quite as bad but close. After 6 months of keto my BP was back to normal and pretty much everything you described reversed. Year and half later I feel and look physically better than in my 20s. Just do it👍
Re Vit C - if you think about it, the ref ranges are for those who are on SAD, so they need double the amount of Vit C because of the competing with glucose to enter the cells. So, maybe that is a good level of Vit C for carnivores. I bet Prof. Bart Kay would have an idea. Neisha, re your Ferritin, have a look at Izabella Wentz, she recommends a ferritin around 80-90 if still having periods. I have Hashis too, and when I was off meds, my ferritin tanked badly as it is used to make thyroxine in the body. Also, could do with B12 being higher. Been at this Hashis thing for 17 years now. Just sharing what Izabella and Datis Kharrazian say. Thanks for sharing your labs. We would have no chance of that over here in UK, even private.
Anytime I had my blood work done. I had to have my OBGYN M.D. read my charts because inevitability the Dr's office always said something was off..... My OBGYN retired. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
I'm 76 come August and raise / eat beef, but the cows are getting more and more hard to deal with, so I'm transitioning to raising meat rabbits. One buck and two does make 900 pounds of rabbit meat annually at a fraction of the cost PLUS beef needs to be smoked, canned or frozen to stay fresh. "LIVE" rabbits are shelf stable year round. I plan on dispatching 3 or 4 a week and eating 4 eggs daily to supply the fat missing in rabbit meat. Give sustainably-raised rabbit meat a thought as the world approaches Armegeddon.
Always a good idea to have a CAC test. I’ve had it done two times as an extra check. Both times it was “0”. Did it early 50 & late 50 because of high cholesterol after I told my doctor I will not take a statin 😊
I agree, but even with a 0 score that doesn't stop them wanting to prescribe a statin. I'm glad that I got a CTA one year after going low carb and my LDL had increased a lot (no I'm *not* a LMHR). I'm now 66 and the CTA was 0 at age 65. After the CTA cardiologist recommended low dose statin and GP told me that I am at a high risk of heart disease and that she wants me on a statin. All my metabolical blood test results were improved. I an not going to take a statin, but will get my CTA redone. One thing I noted and commented on to the GP was that she (graduated in 2018) was using the TC/HDL ratio which of course was high due to the LDL, and I was going by the Trig/HDL ratio which was good. My fasting insulin was 5. The GP said that it wasn't worth me having another blood test done for 1 year because I wasn't going to do anything about it. Interestingly she didn't even suggest that I consider what I am eating; she knows I am low carb. I also told her that there is research showing that statins cause/worsen diabetes (I was diagnosed in Oct 2021 and had remitted it) and she said there is new research coming out showing that it helps diabetes. ?!?!?!
@@jobrown8146these docs. They are drones that can’t think for themselves and are more worried about their licensure than saving lives. Dr. Barry is a true doctor and medicine man healer. We’ve dealt with enough of this BS, right?
This Labs video was incredible, I am so charged, I want to get my Labs done and see where I am been Ketovore since Aug 2023, so I am ready to get my Hormones in order LOL thanks you two keep up the good work; I love what you do 😄
Dr. Berry, Inwould urge caution with your labs. I am an internist and in psychiatry on faculty at our local medical school. Those lipids you report are concerning. An expert opinion may be useful as we are often not reliably objective with ourselves. Personally, I would not do carnivore for myself because I already had a CABG > 15 years ago. I have done great, improving my health eating a balanced diet. But I could not risk cranking my lipids with carnivore. They are all in normal range with my diet. My fear is that you have had such success with carnivore straightening out your metabolic syndrome that it has become your identity. My worry is that we do not have large scale studies, especially with regard to coronary outcomes. When in doubt, we need to leverage the good studies such as they are. Glad you are getting it checked out. And I am glad you are getting a little more equitable regarding other modes of eating. Humans are designed for a diverse diet. It is remarkable that people can live so well on keto, but effects on the heart are unknown except for anecdotal data. Also, the microbiome is a big unknown. It is remarkable that keto helps so many people with inflammation. But there is also very strong data suggesting a diet rich in fermented foods have demonstrated marked reductions in inflammatory markers. Highly fermented diets probably comport better to historical human diets as fermented foods were how people preserved food. Good luck with your journey.
Thank you. In the next couple of weeks I will be going in for a blood draw, seeing my Primary Care, and starting a 3 month carnivore regimen. When I get the labs I will refer to your explanations (NOT the actual numbers) to help me understand anything my PC didn't.
I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that Dr. Ken Berry’s CAC score will be in the 200 or so range. I’m basing that on his previous health history of obesity and diabetes, along with other values he reported in his blood work. I believe homocysteine is a bigger risk marker than he thinks. His value of 15.2 seems to be just above the reference range of 15. But that is a very relaxed reference range. Many labs now use a cut-off of 10 or 11. But an optimal homocysteine would be more like a 6 or 7, based on some reading I’ve done, including Dr. Mark Houston and others. Low folate and high homocysteine (and maybe high B6) could all be pointing to genetic SNPs. It would be interesting to see Dr. Ken Berry’s MTHFR SNPs to lend further insight to this. But again, there could some sort of genetic predisposition that could predict a positive CAC score. High Lp(a) is sometimes referred to as a potential independent risk factor for heart disease. Dr. Ken Berry’s value of 86 is slightly above the reference range of 75. Not brutally high but in the context of everything else it could contribute to a positive CAC score. For example, low vitamin C. Linus Pauling followers would perhaps say that Lp(a) risk could be reduced if vitamin C intake is increased. Having low vitamin C in the context of highish Lp(a) could add some oxidative risk to the equation.
His hs-CRP value of 2.7 falls within the standard reference range. But not so long ago a value of 1 or less was considered to be low risk, while a value of 1 - 3 was flagged as moderate risk. I realize that hs-CRP could be elevated for any number of reasons so I don’t put a lot of weight on this value and would have needed to see what that value was in previous years. Ferritin (especially in men) usually has a fairly broad reference range. Dr. Ken Berry’s value of 368, however, would be considered high by various alternative “experts” I follow. Back in the day, experts like Dr. Mercola and others were saying we want to see Ferritin no higher than 80. High values might infer some sub-clinical inflammation is happening. It's another hint, to me, that Dr. Berry might have a positive CAC score. Cardiologist Dr. William Davis uses a strict cut-off for small LDL particles. He believes this metric is strongly predictive for cardiovascular risk. (In Dr. Berry’s case the reference range is 142 or less). Dr. Berry’s value of 354 is high. So that reinforces my prediction of a positive CAC score. Dr. Davis also puts a lot of weight on optimizing your vitamin D3 level. He has achieved good results when patients maintain a value of 60 - 70 ng/mL. Dr. Berry’s value of 47 (even when taking supplements, albeit erratically) is not optimal. He's probably had low vitamin D (by Dr. Davis's standard) for many years. Another possible contributor to a positive CAC score. Although Dr. Ken Berry feels that a value of 5.6 or less for HbA1c is healthy, some experts I follow suggest it needs to be closer to 5 or less to be optimal. Dr. Bret Scher showed a study in which sub-clinical heart disease was observed with HbA1c values of 5.5. Risk increased as that value got higher, and declined as it got lower. But 5.5 was not what one would call optimal in this study. Anyway, chalk that up as another reason why I’m predicting a positive CAC score of 200 (plus or minus) for Dr. Ken Berry. I am by no means knocking a carnivore diet or the Proper Human Diet that Dr. Berry advocates. My diet is strongly animal-based as well. And I’m a lean-mass hyper-responder with very high LDL. But I’m simply predicting (guessing) Dr. Berry’s CAC score based on a constellation of factors, some of which occurred well before he adopted his present diet, and some that may even have a genetic component.
A CAC takes minutes and you will have the test back in five days or less. It’s puzzling he didn’t have it done given that he has been talking about this video since December.
I plan to start again tomorrow after blood work is drawn. Doctor agreed to supervise me so I’ll be getting labs done every 1-2 months as he deems fit. I’m finally getting a crp done and what not. I’m excited. I tried carnivore for 32 days previously over a year ago and had heart palpitations after 3 weeks and chest pain. I got scared and went back to eating my old diet which is supposed to be "healthy" but I've gained a ton of weight in the last two years. I’m just praising god I found a doctor who cares. He isn’t a low carber but he understands it has its place. I’m tempted make a vlog or something but I don't want to deal with the hater lol.
My Cholesterol was just 151 in March. And was put on Rosuvastatin of which I didn’t take. I’m not to worried seeing your wife’s cholesterol. I’ve been eating meat more than vegetables since I was 16, as my parents would tell us if you’re hungry pull out and broil a T-bone steak. But my doctors always tell me to NOT eat red meat. My metabolic and other blood test look great.
@@Truthful_living9 there are some new studies out saying that the people that have higher cholesterol live longer. It’s the triglycerides and the HDL that are the important markers.
Interesting to hear that higher fasting sugar is not unusual on carnivore- I had my fasting go from low 80's to high 90's and low hundreds when I did carnivore for several months last year- I was stumped, since I thought it should be at least what it usually is, if not lower. I also had a terrible time staying in ketosis when I did carnivore- my natural Dr checked my cortisol levels and they were high, so apparently my adrenals reacted in an unexpected way to carnivore and the high cortisol was raising my fasting glucose level, which was making it difficult to stay in ketosis! It's been quite frustrating! I honestly did better by doing a Keto version of the Whole 30 and just staying grain/ sugar free- doing that I lost almost 100 lbs during 2017-2018. I gained some back the 2 years of the pandemic because I stress ate- and yes you can gain weight eating ketogenic foods, I'm living proof! Now I'm going through menopause and can't seem to lose weight no matter WHAT I do! Even 4 months of strict carnivore last year WITH logging my food into an app to keep track didn't help! I lost about 10 lbs of fluid the first month and then that was it! I'm so aggravated!
I feel ya! I lost weight on the Keto diet the first time I tried it, then couldn't lose any the second time and tried Lion diet as my inflammation was high. I lost 42 lbs quickly on Lion, but my cholesterol has gotten higher and my inflammation too, though I feel great! I don't exercise much though, have a high stress environment and found out recently have mold exposure, so it could be any/all of these. I also have lost more weight than I wanted to and am unable to add dairy in as I have histamine reactions to many foods. It can be frustrating to know what to do.
Dr Berry, when I was in my lab testing internship in the early 1970s, the normal total cholesterol range was basically 150 -300! It was dependent on sex & age but I do not recall the exact differences. Back then it was a test looking for a disease. We basically were only looking for those w/genetic-based hypercholesterolemia. And BTW everyone was much happier & healthier. Then later we developed HDL normal ranges & everyone who participated as “normal” gave us NO diet data.
I got a question for Neisha, have you ever been on thyroid medications for your Hashimotos? I have been Hypothyroidism most of my life and now I am been ketovore for almost a year now and I started adding iodine , Lugal drops , one a day and I can tell some energy spike and did the skin test and t disappears within 15 mins. Besides your TH-cam channel, I'm also a long time follower of Dr. Mercola. Until very recently he was an advocate of low carb diets, but has now started saying that eating low carb long term is not good for you. I would love to have you review some of the articles he's been posting about this on his website and give your feedback about them. I would also LOVE to see you have an interview with him! I feel like both positions can't be right, so which is? Please, help alleviate the confusion! TIA
I'm a long time Type 2 Diabetic 76 years old. I started a Keto diet around the end of March. My 30 day avg. glucose has dropped from over 130 down to 115, and seems it is still dropping. I have a semiannual physical and bloodwork due in 30 days. My question is: How does one know when they can be weaned off their medication? I'm currently on Metformin 1000mg twice daily and Alogliptin 12.5mg once daily. I get health care from the VA, and I know NOW since watching you, Dr. Cywes, and others that The VA has GROSSLY mismanaged my care regarding my Type 2 diabetes. I plan to get some basic lab tests before I go for VA labs in late June because I know my doctor won't order what I really need according to you and many other Docs here. THANK you and you wife for maybe saving, or at least extending my life....Pete
Just what I was looking for. Thank you Dr. Berry! 15th month on a carnivore lifestyle and I had my labs done recently. Vitamin C was 5, range is 23 - 114 I must admit, I was freaking out! Doc had me come in because she was completely sure that I have scurvy, and checked every inch of my body, and gums. Then she says "hmm, you don't seem to have any scurvy symptoms"
@@kschulte9847 It depends on who you ask. If you ask a low-carb doctor or a knowledgeable low carb aficionado the answer is yes, ignore the cholesterol numbers. If you ask a conventional cardiologist (like Dr. Alo on X) most of them would say coronary calcium is a late stage finding and therefore you should absolutely treat the lipids. PS: The only good CAC score is zero, though a low score in your 70's isn't awful since you've got a shorter runway for heart disease to develop and something else is likely to take you out before the ASCVD does.
@@KismetWLS Certainly other markers for severity can be evaluated. A CAC can show if your heart has been repairing itself with calcium due to inflammation over years and years (from the SAD diet). My CAC was 1514 with no symptoms. The CAC likely saved my life.
My biggest question about nigh pure carnivore is how do you meet the daily potassium rda? I remember earlier you explained how carnivore requires less vitamin C die to lack of competitive glucose, but the potassium issue is a concern because most keto and carnivores just hand wave it with electrolyte supplementation, which I conceptually support but it's obviously not ancestrally approved (where would neanderthals get a pack of lmnt). Do K requirements lower on carn-keto or is electrolyte packs or cruciferous veggies the only answer? Like, I eat ribeyes and other fatty cuts every day, but I quickly get those K deficiency cramps and other symptoms when I don't eat some broccoli or spinach that day
Potassium comes in the meat if it's truly pasture raised. IF not, you might be able to get it from puddles in the yard, just like the ancestors would have. The problem is that our soil is so depleted that it's hard to get certain minerals from nature.

Look up face pulls for the shoulder impingement. 😉✌🏼
Congratulations! ❤
@karenreaves3650 Thanks.

Same as mine. No statins for me. They are indoctrinated and have their heads in the sand.
I have the same issue with my LDL - my doc wants me on statins and I refuse. I use to be low on my junk vegetarian diet that was killing me. And now I’m

That is a terrible report, but you should just order an ApoB test on your own. If it is normal, then I wouldn’t worry about your LDL-C. If it is elevated (and Dr. Barry is extremely high), then you are at high risk of cardiovascular disease. Risk follows ApoB.
Your A1c is fine triglycerides are fine. Hdl could be a little higher. Triglycerides and hdl are your important markers

That's important information. Thanks for sharing!

I had a heart attack at 7.2. Don’t listen to these baffoons. Get your Apob checked through a company called Thriva. Watch your LDL. Anything above 4.9 may mean Familial hypercholesterolaemia.
You can get trymetylglycine, glycine, or (normal) cysteine (not NAC).
My Homocysteine was tested after a stroke aged 34, it was 9. They found I had a PFO (hole in heart) but decided not to close it. I suffered another two strokes last year aged 52, my homocysteine was just under 8.
@@tracyloader9534so are you saying that it wasn’t low enough?
My level isn't bad. I've been informed the optimal level is around 7 on a Vitamin B12 group.

Good luck!
Best of luck to you, will be an interesting experiment huh
If you haven't destroyed your liver, pancreas, and thyroid I think you will be very pleasantly surprised. And it doesn't sound like you have, yet!
I was never vegetarian except for 9 months and quitting after a few bouts of narcolepsy, but did eat "clean whole foods" type of diet low in saturated fat and minimal meat/animal products for 10 years and ended up in your current state, not quite as bad but close.
After 6 months of keto my BP was back to normal and pretty much everything you described reversed. Year and half later I feel and look physically better than in my 20s. Just do it👍
God created an amazing machine, our body to heal when given the proper fuel. Wish you the best!
Would love to hear how you are doing now! I have a decades long vegetarian client who is in the same poor health boat.
Take 'yet' out of your vocab unless you actually want it to happen. It's worked for me. Thanks for the great videos
Great vid. Thanks for sharing.

The most tubes I had taken from a patient was 9.. 24?? Bless the lab techs for doing it!

Mmmyeah If you ate less of the ”balanced” vegg poison Maybe you’d feel less worry and anxiety.👍🧠
Thank you. In the next couple of weeks I will be going in for a blood draw, seeing my Primary Care, and starting a 3 month carnivore regimen. When I get the labs I will refer to your explanations (NOT the actual numbers) to help me understand anything my PC didn't.
Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks for sharing your labs.
Your post mirrors my own thoughts, though I wasn't aware of the Dr. Davis specifics.
@@chaz6399 please share resources. My CAC is 330 and I need more guidance.
Please share all resources for experts. My CAC is awful at 330. I need to learn more!!
I agree. Before reading your post I thought Dr. Berry's cac would not be 0 but probably 200 to 400. But I hope I'm wrong and it will be 0.
Average for cholesterol was 200-220 last century, and heart attack rates are a lot lower than now. Maybe it's not the cholesterol.

Carnivore is the best way to stay in Ketosis.
This is super-informative. Thanks for doing this Mr and Mrs Berry.
Thank you for posting this information.

I must admit, I was freaking out!
Doc had me come in because she was completely sure that I have scurvy, and checked every inch of my body, and gums.
Then she says "hmm, you don't seem to have any scurvy symptoms"
Shocked you have not done a CAC. Get it done!
What if you have bad cholesterol numbers...but CAC comes out good. Would you discard those cholesterol numbers?
"Bad" as in low hdl or high triglycerides?

Yay! Ive been waiting 4 this!!
You can get the other things you need from Organ meat, but people generally don't want to eat that, so they use electrolytes instead.
Very valid points!! One of my problem with carnivore aswell...
Anyone still reading this comment, bone broth is an excellent source, I gotta stock up on bones or buy more beef ribs
