Near a decade locked on an icy ledge, ´a whore for the cold world`. A prison without walls. A seemingly endless winter abruptly came to it´s end. A flower voiced, your divine melody releasing me, Tears streaming, the sigh of an awakened soul. Exposed to the colours of you, Petals more beautiful than a mind can dream. Positivity, gratefulness and a certain sense of euphoria, now surrounds me throughout my days. You radiate endless natural beauty - your expression. My wilted soul now soothed, embraced and revived. I´m no longer frozen and distant, your warmth made me melt inside. You leave a garden in your wake. Souls blossoming beside you, and an inevitable affinity awaits. To us lucky ones cared for by you. Thank you for unlocking the feelings inside of me.

Fun story! My uncle and I were talking about music and I described to him this bombastic metal that had classical vocals and the cover of the album having some sort of”Big Eye” (I was describing him Oceanborn by Nightwish btw) in it. He is a metalhead himself, so he went to his house and gave me his copy of Decipher because he had heard the music that sounded exactly like what I described to him and loved it and I was getting into gothic and symphonic metal (this was the early 2000’s btw) so happy about this “accident” I love AF and was one of the first metal bands I came to admire.
That story was a great reminder how much band activity has changed in last 25 years. Before around 2000 recording music so that every member of band could take the audio home after a rehearsal would be nearly impossible. Nowadays even beginners can make digital multichannel recordings when they still don't even know their instruments properly.
I remember about as far back as 2001, looking for After Forever songs to sneak into cds and onto playlists and remembering how special the singer was, especially after hearing her on an Ayreon album waaaaay back in late 2000. I always knew Floor was special. 😄
One of the first symphonic metal albums I got was After Forever self- titled. I randomly bought it back when it came out. Still have it to this day. Brilliant band. 😎
Wow, 1999! That was the year I got assaulted, had to take time off from school to recover, took summer classes and generally studied my butt of to try to catch up afterwards, and my sister and brother moved away from home. Some good times and some not so good times. Glad your memories from then are better, Floor.

Great story, I definitely remember when compact disc was released in the 1980’s . I promised my self I was going to get my self a decent stereo with a CD player, when I got a job. I finally succeeded in this aim in 1989, I had been in Full time employment for about a year.
I can imagine how it was. From 91 to 94, I used to follow a bunch of friends who played in a band. They rehearsed once or twice a week. I didn't play any instrument but I carried the guitar and bass amps. They often played songs written by themselves, rock or a bit heavier, it was really cool to listen to them. Unlike you, they have not become professionals. They never tried to be. But all these rehearsals are beautiful memories, I was around 19-20 years old at that time.

Miss Floor is an incredible singer and person. She is like magic wherever she goes. I have met her once at a meet and greet and seen her in Nightwish twice. She is a very nice person.
@@jeffk1482 My wife and I shook hands with her and all of the band. We are going to see them again in May in Lowell Mass if they dont postpone it again. They have twice postponed this show. I dont think they do meet and greets anymore which is a shame.

Floor, you're the best in every way! I was a drummer once, and Monolith of Doubt was one of the first songs i tried out with doble base drum pedal, it also was the first song i heard from After Forever, it brings back lots of good memories to me. I'm so glad i've got to know your incredible voice from then on.

Oh cool, After Forever.. Still have almost all CD's and I think I saw you play 4 or 5 times in After Forever and once in Ayreon.. Once in Almere on Liberation Day. That's my strongest memory .. Lots of artists performed that day and a bunch of rapper types were the closest to the stage after the previous band. So After Forever came on, you introduced the band, the band started to play, and the rappers ran for their lives! Nobody expected to get metal on that festival. It was a great performance and the children really loved it. Especially when you stopped mid song and started singing 'Kortjakje' and continued like nothing had ever happened. Really cool. Now, many years later, seeing you reminisce is really cool...
This is really cool to hear. As I was a teenager back in 1999 too. I was 16 years old and that's when I first saw Nightwish live. Seems kinda funny to me, that back in those days you were just one of us music loving teenagers and starting your career. Cheers and Merry Christmas!
I know you probably wont ever see this, but i learned of your existence just a year ago, when i saw my first Nightwish video, "Ghost love score". To say i was impressed and moved is a understatement. What a lovely intelligent person and beautiful singer you are. I am always moved when i watch your vids, and i have to say, they have softened this old heart from all the bad things i have seen as a police officer and firemen. Thank you Floor, thank you for all your training and efforts. You have touched many lives in more ways than i think you can imagine.
After Forever was in fact the very first concert I have been to. Loved every minute of it. It is so awesome to see how you have developed over the years! Amazing journey with heights and lows. But amazing all together. ❤
@@FloorJansenOfficial So it was form me. AF was my first ever concert i think it was in O13 🤔. This year i took my daughter (12 years) to AFAS for her first ever life concert (guess who we went to see 😁😁😂😂). For me that was e special moment. So thanks for that Floor.

Well I was once very lucky to have been on owner of said Demo which had a handwritten note in it. It pains me that I had to sell my complete collection due to a financial issue. Had the complete discography of AF and remeber a show in Antwerp where you presented the "Invisible Circles" Album so it must have been March 2004. The sudden smmowfall made it less then packed but you guys performed great and had some encores for us. Watched you from the front row stage left. You were so kind when you mingled with the fans after the show for a chat, picture and autograph. I was in awe first by your voice afterwards with your presence and kindness. Not a christmas story but somehow snow related.

Sander gave me that demo for free! After he found out that i was the first italian at an AF gig...ever .That was at Effenaar, kleine zaal,october 2000, opening for Within Temptation (few weeks before the release of Mother Earth but that's another story) 🙂

I remember recording a demo, with my last band I was in before changing my career direction. I myself never went further in the music industry, but others in the band have. I remember asking one of them, who eventually played with more seasoned musicians and recorded on actual albums, how cool it must be. What he told me is that his best, fondest memory was when we recorded that demo. The excitement and the drive we had back then, I guess that's what stuck the most. And we were all very proud of it too. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
Floor you were so BRAVE to start singing METAL, in an all-MEN BAND and only 17 YEARS old. I can't imagine the NERVOUSNESS you went through in the early days.

Beautiful shot little video in the snow with Fenris, and horses, looks like very cozy with the fire in the background. The little pupper also emits warmth, like a living heat jar, so you both don't freeze. First i thought I missed a CD in from after forever in my collection, but is is not available, very curious about the sound in the very early days.
I remember hearing Floor for the first time in After Forever and my taste for the Metal increased, When I saw them in México at the Circo Volador for me it was a dream and having her standing next to me was INCREDIBLE, her evolution was fantastic and she is MY IDOL 🤘🇲🇽, as a singer, songwrite, mother and outstanding woman in the Metal World. If that is to happen, it would be only in one big festival like Wacken Open Air as the members of After Forever are now in other bands. So for timing reason I believe that is the only way they can do that without causing any huge disruption, would be only in a festival where each of them are playing in their actual bands, and even doing some rehearsal would be tough anyway.
I have only recently found you, & NW, SO SAD I missed much of your early journey, but am on this musical ride with you all, so talented. I hope you know you have fans of all ages, as last year I texted my daughter late one night, that her mother at 73 is now a metal head, & proud of it. Sent her “Ghost Love Score”, she loves it too. Sadly I only discovered you relatively recently (yeah, I know...where have I been...?!😯), but I've been super impressed at how good this "bunch of teens" sounded. Prison of Desire is one of my favourite albums now...better late than never, right...?!
That is very special. Pre-Band demos have became gems. Many Bands are now releasing them on Vinyl. Fans are now discovering the great music of their favorite artists through their pre band history's. Lots or red tape of course, but hopefully one day, that music will be made available. Thanks for sharing.

@@FloorJansenOfficial So it was form me. AF was my first ever concert i think it was in O13 🤔. This year i took my daughter (12 years) to AFAS for her first ever life concert (guess who we went to see 😁😁😂😂). For me that was e special moment. So thanks for that Floor.

It's Friday night, after a tiring week. I'm glad to feel the magical atmosphere that Floor created here, it made me smile. Thank you, I needed this, the recollection of dear memories in front of the fire, when it's snowing outside ... ❤
Well I was once very lucky to have been on owner of said Demo which had a handwritten note in it. It pains me that I had to sell my complete collection due to a financial issue. Had the complete discography of AF and remeber a show in Antwerp where you presented the "Invisible Circles" Album so it must have been March 2004. The sudden smmowfall made it less then packed but you guys performed great and had some encores for us. Watched you from the front row stage left. You were so kind when you mingled with the fans after the show for a chat, picture and autograph. I was in awe first by your voice afterwards with your presence and kindness. Not a christmas story but somehow snow related.

Wow such beautiful scenes! Really nice to hear about how it all started for you. I'm really interested in hearing a lot more about your early career! For your Revamp album Wild Card you did a track-by-track review about some of the feelings and happenings that are behind the lyrics. As a suggestion for future Floor's Music Corner, I'd love to hear a similar track-by-track review/analysis for the After Forever albums. Especially for songs that have special meaning to you.

I would have never expected this video. On that demo version, there are two of my favourite After Forever songs: Tortuous Threnody and Black Tomb 🤩🤩🤩
I remember recording a demo, with my last band I was in before changing my career direction. I myself never went further in the music industry, but others in the band have. I remember asking one of them, who eventually played with more seasoned musicians and recorded on actual albums, how cool it must be. What he told me is that his best, fondest memory was when we recorded that demo. The excitement and the drive we had back then, I guess that's what stuck the most. And we were all very proud of it too. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

I have never been a fan type person ever in my life but Floor and Nightwish changed everything. Thank you for all of the incredible feelings I have felt since I first started watching about 3 yours. My life has been so much more enriched because of all of you and your music.

Black Tomb is one of the best After Forever songs ever.....it boggles my mind that was her first time on a mic 🎤 and to sound that incredible on these 4 songs ( ive heard demos on" prison of desire" ) is crazy !!!.

Black Tomb, My Music Favorite
Beautiful shot little video in the snow with Fenris, and horses, looks like very cozy with the fire in the background. The little pupper also emits warmth, like a living heat jar, so you both don't freeze. First i thought I missed a CD in from after forever in my collection, but is is not available, very curious about the sound in the very early days.
I remember hearing Floor for the first time in After Forever and my taste for the Metal increased, When I saw them in México at the Circo Volador for me it was a dream and having her standing next to me was INCREDIBLE, her evolution was fantastic and she is MY IDOL 🤘🇲🇽, as a singer, songwrite, mother and outstanding woman in the Metal World. You are and will be the example of perseverance of many people. Thank you for giving us happy in this changing World. Love for you Floor. 🤘🤘👏👏👊😎🇲🇽💗

That's one more reason to bring back After Forever to life....even for a short run of shows!!!!!
There's only one hypothetical good reason to bring it back to life : If they would all want to.
If that is to happen, it would be only in one big festival like Wacken Open Air as the members of After Forever are now in other bands. So for timing reason I believe that is the only way they can do that without causing any huge disruption, would be only in a festival where each of them are playing in their actual bands, and even doing some rehearsal would be tough anyway.

After Forever are the best band ever! I was so sad when you guys split. Invisible Circles is the one album that I have never been able to stop listening to. Just Amazing stuff.
Sadly I only discovered you relatively recently (yeah, I know...where have I been...?!😯), but I've been super impressed at how good this "bunch of teens" sounded. Prison of Desire is one of my favourite albums now...better late than never, right...?!

I found you through After Forever, the Prison of Desire album. Big fan ever since. Decipher is still one of my favorite albums of all time.
That is very special. Pre-Band demos have became gems. Many Bands are now releasing them on Vinyl. Fans are now discovering the great music of their favorite artists through their pre band history's. Lots or red tape of course, but hopefully one day, that music will be made available.
