What a cool post, Floor! I remember that day with great pleasure. We were really creative and came up with the melodies and harmonies on the spot together. Already then I could clearly see your potential! So glad we’ve been able to work together so many times since then :-) Up to the next one I hope!
Thank you for decades of great music, Arjen. Looking forward to 18.02. Floor and Brittney one on album is only one of the things only you let become reality.
Thank you for giving her the opportunity! You brought us an angel, and your recognition of that just proves your genius. I love everything you do! Cheers from California!
You, sir, have a rare gift of spotting other people's talents and putting them to good use. This alone makes you the GLOAT (Greatest LUL Of All Times).😁
Arjen is the gentle giant of that genre. The Brian May of prog. He has revealed so much talent for us, for example Toehider Mike Mills. And he jogs alot.
So cool to be featured on Revel In Time and The Source along with you. I'm part of Arjen's "circle of trust" now. I bet you've heard about it. I became a fan in that same year (2000) when I heard ITEC on headphones for the first time. The only music I listened to back then were bands/projects like Pink Floyd, The Who, Jethro Tull, Mike Oldfield and Metallica and when my father's listening to ITEC, he said: "if you'd be able to create something like this one day, you may call yourself a musician!!" As a stubborn 15 yo I said: "whatever" and walked away. I didn't quite dig the little snippets of ITEC I was hearing back then. In fact: it drove me nuts! Then, one day, at six o'clock in the morning, I couldn't sleep anymore. "What shall I do?" So I saw ITEC laying on top of my dad's HiFi amp with his headphones beside it, so I went like: "f it! I'm gonna listen to it from start to finish!" If I hadn't done that, someone else would've probably sang on Arjen's solo album. I was totally blown away! After listening to it, I was even more amazed by the fact that it's made by a Dutch guy. I emailed Arjen and since 2005 (or so), I started sending him mp3's of stuff I sang and he always replied with: "heel goed hoor Wilmer, ga zo door!". Back in 2010 I asked him if he could send me an instrumental version of Newborn Race, which he did. I sang it and again: "nice Wilmer, keep it up!" It was at a time when I was about to give up on sending him stuff, because I wanted to be a part of his Ayreon Universe so badly, but at that point I thought: "why bother anymore?" He's got so many people to choose from nowadays, so what I did.... I decided to record Newborn Race once more, but this time around, I did it pretty quickly and sang the way I would when taking a walk in the forest or whatever, recorded it, mixed it very quickly and after I sent him that version, he just replied with: "may I call you, please?!" I was like: "WHAT?!" :O Oh, I was so happy and also really nervous at the same time while waiting for the phone to ring. Once it did, I immediately told him I was nervous af, haha. He said: "I understand, Wilmer! I felt the same way when I was on the phone with one of my heroes (probably Barry Hay). This man makes you feel comfortable from the get go. Before you go to his studio; etc. He sent me the demos for his solo album (still got them actually. Some songs are completely different from the actual released version) and I recorded my vocals in a free DAW called Kristal with my computer mic. LOL I did have better equipment in my little studio, but I just wanted to practise and I sent those files to him and he's so impressed. The studio version's of course way better, but it's fun to hear those little recordings again every now and then. Nice video, Floor! ;) Sorry for the long book. I'm just feeling enthusiastic, haha
I remember when I seen you with Ayreon Universe for the first time! I lost it!!! Omg Fenris is making me envious of his glorious of his beautiful beard!!! Oh and I'm loving the new Floorworld!!! It's my replacement for FB!!! Zero toxicity whatsoever!!! Will we get to see you work with Arjen again soon?!
She will be featured on the new Star One album by Arjen. I think she is only doing one song but I can’t wait to hear it! Her sister Irene will also be featured for backing vocals on some songs.
What i really love about Arjen is he also includes the very talented Irene Jansen on his music too..Looking forward to seeing Irene singing with her powerful voice soon..
One thing you can surely say about Ayreon is, he does recognize talent when he hears it and you have proven it right ever since that first album with him.
Arjen is the Dutch Tuomas, the ability of both genius project composers to make already wellknown famous musicians and vocalists even better to a next higher level. Both gentlemen are the combination of Mozart, Bach and Beethoven in our century.
Arjen is just up to another league. He cares about the music more than ego and its not afraid of making everyone shine. Tuomas is good but he really put Floor on a leash. Everyone is, except him..its a pitty
The old Ayreon albums contain (for me) some of the best pieces of music ever written. My House on Mars, And the Druids Turn to Stone, Into the Black Hole, Time Beyond Time, Valles of the Queens.. there are so many marvelous songs. Arjen has a very great taste when it comes to picking the right musicians for every single song. I hope we will here you on any future Ayreon, Star One or Guilt Machine album.
What was the first time "Valley of the queens " was performed? First time i heard the melody there was an dayja who for me,there was something hmmmm have i heard it before or what,i will think some place in the 90ts 97-99 i heard something familjar on an radio channel call nrk P3 here in Norway but im not sure
@@jensenmekk "Valley of the Queens" is on the 1998 album "Into the Electric Castle", so it would probably have been written between the 1996 album "Actual Fantasy", and the 1998 album its on. When it was performed first, i have absolutely no idea.
I have fallen in love with this Dutch genius since learning about Arjen through your performances with his Ayreon "Universe" and "Star One" shows. His creations are so amazing. I love how on the Universe dvd you come spinning out to climax "Star of Sirrah". Then there is your epic entrance on "Everybody Dies". Arjen really knows how to save the best for last. Even on "The day that the World Breaks Down". You look so snug and comfortable with your coffee and fire place. Keep warm. All the best to Hannes as well. Sabaton Rocks. the reactor are starting to light it up on Sabaton as well as Nightwish and the Queen!

New Fan here just for some reason came to you in the last couple of days. Thank you for this, in these times the need for connection is important. It is cold here in Minnesota also and I have a fire going. You memory brings back an echo in me of the time Joel Grey allowed me to attend one of his master classes long ago before I drifted away from theater, although the height difference went the other way. Having the chance to work with people we admire is an awesome moment and something I hope we all remember to pay back.
I listened to that Ayreon album at a friend's house I liked it from the beginning I paid special attention to my house on Mars because of the singer of Tiamat and I was wondering who is that angel who did the backing vocals, and it was the first time I heard you my Lady that's why that's my favorite Ayreon album ....good memories ♥️🌼♥️
The album that got me in to the Ayreon universe. It was mindblowing to se it live with you on stage in 2017. Love and respect from Norway. And so happy for the Nightwish show in Oslo in november last year. You are always amazing Floor🤘
Oh, Fenris!! You are so beautiful 😍 "Woof-woof" or should I say "voff voff" in Swedish 😄 Fantastic episode, Floor. I found out about Aeryon thanks to you. It was a wonderful discovery. Have a great weekend everybody 🌹❤️
Floor you are so beautiful inside and out. The first time I heard you singing at Wacken with Nightwish, I was hooked. Your voice is so powerful and mesmerizing I became an instant fan in whatever you do. I’ve listened to that concert numerous times, you guys were so on point that night. Thank you all for making such awesome music.
At first I found you and then, because of you, I found beautiful music world of Ayreon with whole bunch of great musicians and awesome compositions wrote by genial Arjen Lucassen. It is your merit and I am grateful for it. Thank you. Have nice weekend, stay safe and see you tomorrow with another piece from your solo concert (I hope I'm wright) .
Arjen is amazing. Very exited for the new album. Was so happy to learn that Brittney Slayes is singing on it too, grown to love her vocals over the last year since I first heard her sing. I feel like most of what I listen to these days is metal with female vocalists, there are just so many amazing singers in the genre.
That's also what my first impression was: You/every Singer can really shine in Arjen's compositions. Singers are great with their own bands and music but in Ayreon or Star One they are just on another level. Such a nice video. I love how you share your thoughts and memories witch your fans! 🥰
Arjen's music came to me thanks to your singing 🥰. I have The Dream Sequencer , and I think .... I am missing two or three albums AND I pre ordered Star One , so.... Thank You Floor 🤘😎🤘
It’s funny to hear you talk about “so long ago” ….22 years ago. Imagine looking back being that same age and having it be 50 years ago. I still cannot believe it! 😱
I remember when I was in highschool me and my friends were listening this album from ayreon website as it was streaming there like a day or two before it was official released. Gosh, feels like it was yesterday 😟😍
Arjen, through his various projects, has been able to bring together both recognized and less well known singers and musicians to help showcase the talents of everyone while making the best album possible. Floor, I first heard you on the Dream Sequencer and remember being blown away with your young and powerful voice....from here I got into After Forever and have been a fan of you ever since. Thank you for collaborating with Arjen and thank you to Arjen for introducing me to you or else I may never have discovered you and your extraordinary talent, or at least not until much later!
Floor, youre the reason why i listen to metal, Symphonic Metal and of course Ayreon now. But only since last year ;-) My 8 year old daughter shares my enthusiasm and loves your music and voice too. ♥
With -40C right now here, your videos always bring some smiles and warmth. Thank you for that! Arjen is such a genius musician, isn't he? I can't believe it's been that long, already. I first heard Neal (Morse) on that album and since then he's become my favorite male singer. Another genius musician, for sure.
I recently had a brief conversation with Arjen over his website. He was so gracious to answer this fans question. I was stunned when he responded. I asked him what it was like to be in the studio with you Floor and hear those belts for the first time. As you can expect, he was stunned. Take care and thank you for this trip down memory lane.
Thank you very much for uploading these videos. I really appreciate that you still upload this type of content for those of us who are unable to pay patreon
I discovered Floor thanks to Arjen. Arjen is a Genius and Floor is a Diva. I was a fan of the Genius and I became a fan of the Diva. Thank you so much thank you both
Is funny how circular this all is. I'm an old-time who discovered Floor through Arjen as well, but these days the flow has been reversed and awareness of Arjen's work is now largely driven by fans of all the young (at the time) vocalists he showcased through his music.
I'll talk about future and I'll say that we're waiting for you Nightwish guys and especially you metal Amazon to the most beautiful place on earth,Greece.....many wishes and millions of regards!!!! God bless your voice!!!!!
i met ayreon through dream sequencer in 2008, a friend showed me that album saying: "it's a great album, you listen to the first song and you imagine a lonely man walking down an alley at night". and it was there where ayreon took me to imagine a new world. a new style and it is the band that I treasure most personally until today...🍃🍂
I’ve discovered so much great music because of Ayreon. I first listened to “The Day When the World Breaks Down” because you were on it, and as a result I’ve found awesome projects like Toehider!
The Dream Sequencer was my first Ayreon CD, all the way back in 2000. I remember hearing you and reading the credits and immediately began looking for After Forever songs to listen and making a Playlist of CDs with songs of After Forever, Within Temptation and the Gathering. All bands I was introduced to by Arjen, the legend
Being that tall makes it easier to fit all that talent! Kudos to you, Arjen, Ross, Michael Mills, and all of you suprimly talented multitasking creators. Wish you the best, cant wait to listen to your amazing collaboration
Awesome flashback, and yes I've totally enjoyed everything you have done with Ayreon! Still at least two months of Winter here in Alaska as well!! Thanks for the great video....stay warm!
I discover Ayreon because of you (and Russel Allen too)!!! As both of you were on Star One and in pt1 and 2 of the Universal Migrator. You can' t imagine how much I could thank you to make me discover Arjen's Universe. My favorite artists are part of my life, you help me through hard times, you share my best moments, with all the emotions you can give through your music. Keep going on, I'll be with you... 🤘
I first discovered Ayreon last September while working a job I hated, unloading trailer parts in a garage. "My House on Mars" was the first song to really grab me. It took me away from my surroundings and unfurled this glorious world of music. I didn't know who Arjen Anthony Lucassen was nor who you were... I listened to a lot of metal in college but hadn't gone back to it in several years. Now, it feels like I've spent a lifetime listening to each fantastic Ayreon and Star One album. Funny that I should get into this music right around the time I began making friends with several very tall Dutch people - just a strange coincidence, I suppose! Dankuwel for all the gorgeous singing you've done over the years.
Lovely to hear you reminisce about this...😀 I've only delved into Ayreon's music so far via your Spotify discography (which is taking me a while to get through as there is so much you have been involved in over the years...!).
Arjen really is a musical genius, with impeccable taste in musicians. I discovered you, and him (and Russell, Damian and Dan) through the first Star One album, which I bought purely because Jens Johansson was playing keyboards on it. Wow, was that an expensive purchase... that album was a gateway to a whole new universe of music, and having bought albums featuring all the Star One vocalists, I went back and bought the Ayreon back catalogue which led to yet more purchases of newly discovered bands and artists. Thanks to Arjen, my musical collection and knowledge expanded massively and I've found many of my favourite musicians, including you. I can't wait for the new Star One album, it must be his greatest line up yet!
I really love the respect and admiration you have for Arjen Lucassen, I have a couple of ayreon cd's, but not this one, shame on me. Happy Baby Floor looks adorable next to giant Arjen.

Is funny how circular this all is. I'm an old-time who discovered Floor through Arjen as well, but these days the flow has been reversed and awareness of Arjen's work is now largely driven by fans of all the young (at the time) vocalists he showcased through his music.
Great tribute to the best prog rock producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen!
Ayreon and Star One were why I have become a big fan of your music Floor. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!
I remember being blown away by the vocals on the records you participated both in Ayreon and Star One, now I know why
I also still remember that day, lieve Floor 😉. I'm proud of you 😘
Thank You again.
Just love the sound from the fire in the background.
I’ve discovered so much great music because of Ayreon. I first listened to “The Day When the World Breaks Down” because you were on it, and as a result I’ve found awesome projects like Toehider!
I love these and make me feel so warm with the cosiness of it all. Thanks for sharing these Floor,
The Dream Sequencer was my first Ayreon CD, all the way back in 2000.
I remember hearing you and reading the credits and immediately began looking for After Forever songs to listen and making a Playlist of CDs with songs of After Forever, Within Temptation and the Gathering. All bands I was introduced to by Arjen, the legend
Great to hear about your first time working with Ayreon .He is such a talented guy. Waiting on his new album to arrive.
Ayreon was my first exposure to artists like Floor and Sir Russell. Been enjoying their music ever since.
I had no idea I was listening to you on that album I was 8 now I'm 30 and still listening to you!!!
Is from another album but my fav Floor collab with Ayreon is Liquid Eternity
Always great hearing from you Floor, have a beautiful day. Thank you.
Being that tall makes it easier to fit all that talent!
Kudos to you, Arjen, Ross, Michael Mills, and all of you suprimly talented multitasking creators. Wish you the best, cant wait to listen to your amazing collaboration
Ordered the new album bundle. Can't wait to hear it.Stay safe.😊👍🏻🤘🏼
Wow I love 💘 ayreon I love their music so much
Lovely to hear you reminisce about this...😀 I've only delved into Ayreon's music so far via your Spotify discography (which is taking me a while to get through as there is so much you have been involved in over the years...!).
And the rest is History!
So amazing! Thanks for sharing this with us! God bless you and your family!
Nice memories and a beautiful story😊😊🙏🙏🤘🤘
Floor looks gorgeous but so does that fire on a cold evening. Thank you.
My Favorite Singer !!!
@charlie carlotta says Marko and Russell should have shirts saying Floor Jansen is my back up singer lol
Arjen is one of a kind. Humble to a fault, loves interacting with his fans, brings out the best in every musician he showcases.
