Just got the XPS 15 2 in 1 with the core i7 a few days ago and absolutely love it so far. Super speedy, great battery life (I have the 1080p version), I'm actually a fan of the Maglev keyboard, and it handles light gaming very well so far. Only downside is the fans get somewhat loud when gaming, especially if I have it plugged in. That's to be expected though in such a slim body with what all it has in it. It's completely silent though during normal use. Awesome laptop/2 in 1, definitely would recommend getting it.

I get all the power and versatility plus it makes a great workstation at home. With light to medium use, the battery can go all day. The only trade off is yes, it's not the smallest or lightest, but size wise, it's on a par with the MacBook Pro it replaced. I run some hefty virtual machines on it, hence the higher RAM spec, plus it has to last me at least 5 years so hopefully it's future proofed.

I picked the XPS 15 2-in-1 for the same reasons as Gordon. I like having the tablet ability and the near power of the regular XPS 15. I find it amusing that me and Gordon share a similar mindset breaking down these laptops but choose the shiny and new lol
I just bought a 9570 with the 1080p panel. I love the portability and power. It allows me to do CAD on the go and the 6 cores allows for rendering of the various CAD quicker as it pegs the 12 threads to max. Lightweight gaming is also good. And when I'm working at a coffee shop on homework (browsers and office products) with the performance slider in the middle and half brightness I get 8+ hours of battery life easy.

I've had the XPS 15 2 in 1 for about six months now. I thought I would use the 2 in 1 ability much more than I do but I really don't. Touch screen is glitchy at times, and lots of other minor annoying glitches. Overall, it's not a bad laptop at all but in my opinion if you are looking for a 15 inch laptop, just go with the regular XPS 15.
I would get the XPS 15 2-in-1 because the camera is at the bottom, but because you can fold it back and make it into a tablet the camera would be in a better position
I just bought the XPS 13 9370 Rose Gold I7 with 8G RAM and 256 SSD... The screen is awesome... the white color is pleasant... windows hellow works like a charm...
One big flaw of the Dell XPS 7590 Oled, is that the nvidia driver does not enable colorsetting or gamut controls. The del Premier color tool does not install. So this leaves you with only the colorsettings of the internal Intel videochip, so when enabling the Nvidia card, no control over the colorsettings! Be very aware of thes. DELL support has no clue how to fix it, their 1st and 2nd tier support have nog fix and have no idea. On the 4K Lcd touch version has these color controls are available. So Oled is nice but totally no control over the GTX 1650!!

I am a student and I'm deciding if I should buy the Dell xps 13 (i7, 512 gb, 16 gb RAM). I want to use it for bioinformatics and light gaming, but I'm not really sure if the xps 13 is right for me. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Hey guys, I love your channel! I had to buy a new laptop and I couldn't decide between the Razer Blade 15 and the XPS 15. These videos helped me alot with my decision most especially because I am a Software Engineer and well, laptop shopping can get pretty intense! But I wanted to say I love how Gordon; you are 100% knowledgeable in all of these laptops - with the configurations & hardware and you can 100 percent tell that you don't rely on a script. You know exactly what you are talking about and that is nice to see these days, you know these specs and the in depth information and can gather it on the fly... and I completely appreciate that! Keep the videos coming! - Marah Gray
@@pcworld I decided to get the XPS 15 fully loaded and I am building a desktop with the money saved by not getting the Razer! I plan to just VPN to my desktop when I want to game or need the extra power. I totally wanted great customer service and return policy/warranty. I shopped around for months and talked with the awesome guys at Micro Center and I determined that I need so much power for my engineering programs, and that it doesn't matter what laptop I get; none of them will ever have enough power! It was quite a hard decision and shopping experience because I spend all day doing 3D modeling/rendering, but I also do graphic design and web design as a side job, as well as I am a complete gaming buff. So I need a 4K panel for my content creation but for gaming.... it isn't my best option. Thankfully I am a software nerd and so I can easily tap into my crazy desktop with no problems or paying for a tunnel service. BUT, I have realized over the past month or two that my heart still isn't fully content.... So I am buying a new Razer to add to the bunch! HAHA! :D (so much for trying to save money!) I will add that I wanted the XPS 9575 because hey, who doesn't want a 2 in 1 with power. But sadly, so many TH-camrs compared the Vega GPU to the NVIDIA 1050ti Max-Q and based on my benchmarks and just trying out the laptops full potential, it was a total slouch! I tried to play a WoW session and it was nearly impossible and it looked like I was playing the Sims on Windows 2000. Haha! I ended up making the full call though based on your guys comparison video between the XPS and the Razer. I was so glad you guys did that, because I couldn't find any other videos like it and Best Buy didn't have the Razer on display. So thanks again Adam! :)
Marah Gray you mentioned that you use engineering software as well, did you by any chance look at the surface book 2? Does it have enough power for that and some gaming? And if not do you know of a high quality laptop with a touchscreen and great customer support/reliability that could suit those needs? As I have never made a computer and would prefer to not have to build one.
@@suttongriffin8154 I'd go with the XPS. No doubt. I love the surface lineup, but what turned me away was the bezels and the screen on the XPS just was a beast compared to the SB2. So since initially I was confused between all the laptop options b/c I was trying to suit content creation, engineering, etc. An awesome employee at Lenovo suggested the X1 Carbon to me right off of the bat.... That is, until I stressed that I am a huge software geek and when I need power for my 3D work (I love to flip flop between CATIA and AutoCAD specifically the 2019 version of ACAD is amazeballs) I decided that whenever I do need power on the go I'd just VPN into my desktop at home. Solved all of my problems and on the road the 32 gigs of RAM and a Samsung Evo SSD is more than plenty (the XPS initially comes with a Toshiba drive but it's not a slouch though)! The XPS screen in beautiful and I was unsure at first how much I'd use the touch screen but I use it like no-freaking-other!! If you need more than 32gigs and a terabyte SSD then you need to be looking at building you a badass desktop. But it seems like you really need the same needs met that I do so I suggest it 100% over any other similar machine. Whole heartidly, my XPS is my baby. Haha. I'll always have one now and get a secondary rig for gaming if I really get into shooter titles....but I'm a WoW girl so I'm okay with the 1050ti. Haha. 🙂 Hope that helps!
@@suttongriffin8154 Well even if you haven't done it before it's like as long as you know a lot about computers from the get go. Trust your gut on that one! It's not too bad but the cooling may get tricky! But if not you could actually just try to find a Micro Center and have them help you with the parts shopping and they can even help build it. But your best bet is buying something off of a website like Cyber Power PC. You'll get a custom built machine and you won't even have to do it yourself. My friend Chris bought a monster from there about a year ago and I really had a good experience there. :)

Anyone facing hinges problem on Dell Xps 2 in 1!?? im worried about hinges if i buy one since i heard alot of hinges problem on Hp Elitebook Envy too :(
DELL XPS is a buggy notebook. I bought a brand new one and there are problems with the WiFi and power supply. Its a factory problem, they took so long to deliver it bec they were assembling it for a long time, so I guess the parts are in conflict or something. Please do some research before you buy. I thought all DELLS are good.
What do you use it for mainly? I am an architect and will be using softwares like CAD and render engines like V-Ray. Edit- Also plan to hookup an egpu to it at some point later this year.
@@vedant_sharma I use it for 3D cad (creo and solid works) and it does a great job. Doing cad assembly renders is super quick with the 12 threads. I am curious as to know if you have hade to replace the battery at all and how long are the batteries rated to last? Was there any error and or alert that the Windows OS gave you in your discovery of the battery problem, that is did you perform a diagnostic which informed you prior? This really sucks, to where I may now consider returning the laptop for this reason. Thanks
Hey guys! I am a TH-camr as well and do quite a bit of video editing but I have no idea which specs I need. Here's what I DON'T need. Since I have an external monitor, the size of the laptop screen or it being touchscreen means nothing to me. While very nice, all the premium materials & thinness of the XPS range are also not needed. The laptop also stays in one place so portability is not needed but I don't want a big desktop. I just need a pretty quick laptop that will render my videos as fast as possible. I also would like not to break the bank. Here's what I DO(or think I do)need: I want a Dell. Intel i7 9th or 10th Gen, 16gigs or more of RAM, 512gb Hardrive and not sure if a dedicated graphics card helps in the rendering of videos or if that's for game play on the machine itself of which I do none. Any suggestions?
Bought the new 13" XPS this year, and will get a 15" XPS next year when they refresh it with a 9th gen i9. The 13" is the one I'm likely to travel with the most, but the 15" will be there when I need workstation level performance.

hello guys...I have one question...I am an architect and I cant decide which one is better for me dell xps 15 9570 or 2-1...first I liked classic xps 15. I like larger display stronger procesor and classic visual. but i think as for me xps 2-1 is better. i think i can make architectural sketches. am i wrong ? or can i do that in the classic xps to?...reason i think classic xps is better choice after create concepts i need strong laptop for assemble in the architectural programs and rendering...at the all i need to know can xps 2-1 replace me paper and pencil and woth it to give up screen dimensions and procesor power?
I'm aiming for the XPS 13 9370 i7, 16 GB RAM/512 GB SSD with the touchscreen option. The only real drawback for me is the number of ports (not a problem on the go, though), which I can fix fairly easily when I'm at home. I love the 2-in-1 functionality but I'm weary of those hinges. I've had computers with them before and they're just...concerning. And the only reason I'd go for a 15" at this point is for a number keypad, which Dell doesn't offer in the XPS. I'm looking forward to this new computer!
I want to do primarily graphic design and some video editing... Would a 13" XPS laptop be enough, or should I buy the 15" one? Also, should I get the i7, 16gb, 512gb or the i5, 8gb, 256gb?
I just got an 9570 with the 1TB SSD for video editing in adobe premier. Should I partition the SSD and save my data to the second partition or just save data to the SSD as is, keeping my footage/project files in the same place as the OS? What will give the best performance? OR should I use an external dive all together for my data? Sorry I'm late to reply to this video, but thanks in advance!! You're videos helped me with my purchase a lot!!
Does anyone know if the fans sound a lot when manipulating big amounts of data in excel and/or other data analytics programs? Also, has anyone had a problem with coil whine? I would appreciate your take regarding this questions @PCWorld. Thanks!
I was hoping you guys would talk about real life battery backup time since this video was about laptops. Can you share your experiences here regarding it?
The thing about 2-in-1 laptops is that they are designed to be a laptop first and a tablet second. This means that they don't have an ergonomic design for prolonged handheld use in tablet mode. Secondly they become tiresome to hold for too long due to their weight. It is a great way to take notes though but not so great for media consumption (speaker placement is another issue). I would say that it is not a good decision to spend money on a 2-in-1 laptop just because it looks better.
Many thanks for the video. I was going to get an xps 13 mainly for the portability, but as i'm a developer , i need performance. I did buy the xps 15 i7 8750 32gb of ram.
The service of dell in China is good , and dont ask me how to know cuz the mother board of my 17 ver. 9360 was replaced twice by dell technicians who came to my place and finished the job in no time. but even though, i will switch my working laptop to thinkpad instead for better stability.
I just bought one in 2894 dollars but I included 4 years guarantee, break or hardware or software, 1 Tetra , 32 GB 2x 1 16 GB fantastic it cost more but my veteran discount and others. As a software engineer it's great. Booting takes 30 seconds
Hi, I'm struggling to pick a new laptop , and I'm doing photo and video editing , is that have any upcoming laptop I should wait? Please give me some suggestion which have the best performance laptop I can get with a budget £1500. Thanks!
Dell XPS 15 2in1, has 16gb ram, customizable between 128gb to 1tb ssd. Standard 256gb ssd(i7)(4k) costs 1382 pounds. I think it would be the best for photo and video editing, especially since it was made for artists and creatives. The performance is great and having it able to flip into tablet or tent mode is extremely helpful and productive.
I have Dell XPS 13" 2018...I have an issue on every time charging, fan is running very hard and heat is coming very hot as well. Does it normal or can we fix it? Thank you.
I think dell laptops always have an issue with overheating. Ten years ago I got the studio xps 13 and had the same problem. Then bought a laptop cooling pad/fan that goes underneath when using it and it worked like a charm and kept the laptop cool
I hope not...id rather wait till after new years to see if they release the lower end 20 series cards and 9th gen H processors. Id honestly love it if lets say a gtx 2050ti could preform similar to this gens 1060max q with a lower tdp. Or a 2060max q .id put my money on dell doing something to improve the xps 15s thermal s to cool a chip like the 1060 max q 😂😂
So no room for usb type A but there is room for 4 type C ports?..... What is wrong with these companies, usb 3.1 is incredibly fast, supports usb2 and we have decades of products around us that still use them. It cost so little to include one and how many sales have they lost because ppl bought something else that had at least one usb A port? Seems like voluntary business suicide to me.

The XPS, when I first turned it on and started setting it up, it disconnected from the internet, but I immediately reconnected and it has never happened again. Battery life is about 9 - 11 hours. It has never gotten hot (I NEVER play games, I use computers to make money), if the fans have ever come on I have never noticed, but how can a 3 inch fan be loud anyway. The trackpad is smooth, no lag, no jumping, the surface of the trackpad is almost too smooth, like oil on water "slick", I like it. Can't say anything about the speakers, I don't use them, don't care about any built in computer speakers. I have zero complaints, I'd buy it again. Like I said, it disconnected once but never again, not a single glitch since that first hour of start up, it lives up to my expectations. The MBP with the same specs would have been $4200.00, this XPS 15 cost $2100.00 (that's US dollars), it was an easy decision, one I don't regret and will make every day of the week. No regrets.

Top choice
Are you using Edge to get that battery life? Or are you getting 8+ hours with something like Chrome?
@@Reaper31292 chrome Firefox excel Word other calculation software for homework all at once. Some of my online school sites work better in Chrome but my daily browser is Firefox so I have both open.
Wow, that's impressive battery life then.
@@Reaper31292 yeah. I was expecting 4 to 6 real life and would have been OK with that. Anything was an upgrade from my 7 year old Vaio. But when I got that I was surprised. It's the max watt hour battery allowed on planes so it's the best you can get.
Bought XPS 9360 i7 8/128 for 1000. Its already been 5 months. Absolutely loving it.
Any coil whine issue??
What is the battery backup that you are getting?
I would get the XPS 15 2-in-1 because the camera is at the bottom, but because you can fold it back and make it into a tablet the camera would be in a better position
Genius
I just bought the XPS 13 9370 Rose Gold I7 with 8G RAM and 256 SSD...
The screen is awesome... the white color is pleasant...

Saying that the XPS13 9370 has a 1080p non touch display is misleading. There are 4k touch models too...
FalconX88 4K for 13" is not very important.. the screen is too small
My comment was more about the touch display.
Is there a noticeable difference between 4k and 1080 im the xps 15? Idk, the matte display seems uncomfortable..
Why didn’t you put links to these articles n the description?!!!
Hopefully the older 15" gen goes on sale, it's still more expensive than my old macbook air :(
what is the biggest reason to buy xps series? it is playing games and high graphic ability or something else? what are the competitors of this series?
Too late, Mom bought a XPS 2 in 1 15. Im not refusing if someone offers me another one
I'm a student and I'm confused about buying the dell xps 15 2in1 or the new dell xps 13 2in1. I only do light gaming once in like a week. Both laptops are currently the same price. Please help

Marah Gray thanks! How difficult would it be to make a pc? I’ve never made one before and I’m worried I might mess something up.
I had the older xps 13. it was a great laptop only complaint is the camera being in the bottom left hand corner
Hi...please make a video comparing dell Xps 13 vs Inspiron 13 5390.I was about to buy dell XPS but got confused when I saw the arrival of dell Inspiron 13 5390 in dell’s Indian website. Help me out
Anyone facing hinges problem on Dell Xps 2 in 1!?? im worried about hinges if i buy one since i heard alot of hinges problem on Hp Elitebook Envy too :(
Always the best information on TH-cam. Thanks!
Watching this after ordering a XPS 15 9570 an hour ago.
I've had mine for a month now. You will enjoy it.
What do you use it for mainly? I am an architect and will be using softwares like CAD and render engines like V-Ray.
Edit-
Also plan to hookup an egpu to it at some point later this year.
@@vedant_sharma I use it for 3D cad (creo and solid works) and it does a great job. Doing cad assembly renders is super quick with the 12 threads. Lightweight gaming is nice so I am not stuck using my desktop. Also since I'm finishing my masters I like to study at various places so the power slider on medium and brightness at half gives 8+ hours easy. (with the 1080p model, battery gets hit more with the 4k model). Oh also if you are a touch typist. The keyboard is great for a thin laptop.
@@sliphere011 Would you mind telling me the exact specs of your machine. I have ordered the i7, 16gigs ram and 512 ssd with the 1080p screen. 4k wasn't exactly good for my use.

My dell xps15 9570 has a damaged motherboard but I can't afford a new laptop. any chance of a donor board to help fix mine?
great video, OMG, having recently purchased a 2018 dell 15 7590, recently I was not made aware of a swelling battery issue.
What laptops are you two currently using here?
Dude, you're getting a dell
I wish they had 6 cores in the 13" model! Always the battle of size vs performance
your wish has come true today
@@johnallums3134 yeah they made the i7 10gt version
Bought the new 13" XPS this year, and will get a 15" XPS next year when they refresh it with a 9th gen i9. The 13" is the one I'm likely to travel with the most, but the 15" will be there when I need workstation level performance.
My dell xps heat sink fan keep on turning on and off during editing videos. Is this normal ?
My dream laptop is dell xps 15
I bought the XPS 13 9360 over the 9370 because of the port selection and the bigger battery.
same here :) and no regret, totally in love with that piece of tech
I did the same
What model is the largest one with the most ports?? Would be good to have the models numbers in the description or on the screen. Thx
Has anyone tried the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 with digital painting and light 3D work? If so, what are your experiences so far?
Hi Guys which one would you recommend to do a dissertation, using word, ppt and do researches as im a University student and im a bit confused and yeah i urgently need a new laptop. Important to note that the Uni projectors uses HDMI cables.
Hello Sir, I have one question. In your opinion, Should we choose FULL HD or 4K on Dell XPS 13? Thank you so much.
I want a decent laptop for recording and mixing music. I want to record using an interface and a thunderbolt 3 connector. Which laptop will do the trick?
Hey I'm getting a dell xps 13 9370 in a few weeks. Please tell me whether I should get Gold/White or Silver/Black
Just I picked up xps13 9370 rose gold version. It’s actually on the way and probably tomorrow i will get it. It’s shame that no USB-A and smaller battery than previous one though I would expect strong performance with relative low heat. Let’s see.
They give you the dongle for USB-A
Dell has improved the motherboard for less power consumption, so newer model as same battery life as last year 9360
What’s the new 5th variant of the XPS that you did not have for review?
hello guys...I have one question...I am an architect and I cant decide which one is better for me dell xps 15 9570 or 2-1...first I liked classic xps 15.
I wud pick up a 13 inch 9360, simply because it is light weight. But I am looking for more options which are light, classy and yet powerful.
Just got the 15 2 in 1. Absolutely LOVE it. Fantastic display and great overall performer.
What about the Thermal Throttling I am reading a out with the XPS series Dell?
Im planning any of the three laptops(any variant of the three no budget problem): dell xps, hp envy, hp spectre... Which one should i consider
Do you guys still recommended the Dell xps 15 9560 4k today?
I want to do primarily graphic design and some video editing... Would a 13" XPS laptop be enough, or should I buy the 15" one? Also, should I get the i7, 16gb, 512gb or the i5, 8gb, 256gb?
Hello! XPS 13 9370 i7/256 8GB LPDDR3 1080p.... I really like this for its price. Should I get one for a med school?
Best for a student?
I just got an 9570 with the 1TB SSD for video editing in adobe premier. Should I partition the SSD and save my data to the second partition or just save data to the SSD as is, keeping my footage/project files in the same place as the OS? What will give the best performance? OR should I use an external dive all together for my data? Sorry I'm late to reply to this video, but thanks in advance!!
I am a student (solidworks & Autocad) what is your best recommendation?
probably a dell precision or hp zbook or lenovo thinkpad. you may benefit from quadro cards.
Which one is better for gaming
Dell XPS 15 9370 or 9360
Please compare Dell XPS 2-in-1 series with Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga and Lenovo Yoga C930 .
Is the "normal" 13 much faster than the 13 2 in 1? For sure they have a different number of cores...
Many thanks for the video. I was going to get an xps 13 mainly for the portability, but as i'm a developer , i need performance. I did buy the xps 15 i7 8750 32gb of ram.
I am an owner of XPS 13 2015 Thinkpad T450s and have used XPS 15 2017 I can honestly say 15 inch laptop is the perfect size.
The service of dell in China is good , and dont ask me how to know cuz the mother board of my 17 ver. 9360 was replaced twice by dell technicians who came to my place and finished the job in no time. but even though, i will switch my working laptop to thinkpad instead for better stability.
How are u watching TH-cam isn’t it banned?
love to see the hp spectre's on the side, those are the one to get.

Then bought a laptop cooling pad/fan that goes underneath when using it and it worked like a charm and kept the laptop cool
is the Dell XPS 15 going to get the 9th gen processors this year? Before Christmas?
I hope not...id rather wait till after new years to see if they release the lower end 20 series cards and 9th gen H processors. Id honestly love it if lets say a gtx 2050ti could preform similar to this gens 1060max q with a lower tdp. Or a 2060max q .id put my money on dell doing something to improve the xps 15s thermal s to cool a chip like the 1060 max q 😂😂
Only two of the four type C ports on the XPS 15 2 in 1 are actually Thunderbolt 3...
what about the raised track pad due to battery over heating
Does the 2 in 1 with kabi lake r chip have 4 lanes for the thunderbolt 3 port?
Yes
So no room for usb type A but there is room for 4 type C ports?..... What is wrong with these companies, usb 3.1 is incredibly fast, supports usb2 and we have decades of products around us that still use them. It cost so little to include one and how many sales have they lost because ppl bought something else that had at least one usb A port? Seems like voluntary business suicide to me.

mikej747 what’s your opinion on it, after a month of use?
@@Mikael260315 I really like it. I'm not one who gives a shit about brands, I buy what works for me and MBP works best for my web developing work. I still use my MBP for web developing, I just transferred all my graphic design files to the XPS and freed up space. Keyboard is sweet, really nice keys that don't make noise and the up and down travel is perfect to me. It is fast for everything I do. The screen is great, beautiful images. No regrets.
