    I had the Dell XPS 13 from last year and boy did it get noisy sometimes, but apart from that I had no other complaints and enjoyed it thoroughly. Definitely agree that the dongle life would be so annoying on a plane!

    I have this laptop and the performance is top notch. It is very fast and the 4k screen is beautiful. The weak point for me is the sound volume due to speaker location, but not so bad as to be a veto on buying. My wife just bought the 9575 hinge version with the Radeon graphics card and slightly inferior processor, which I am eager to test out. She wants to draw and do photo/video editing on hers, and I like to play games on mine, so both of us got what we both needed from Dell. I spent more than I usually do on a laptop this time around, but I think the extra cost is worth it for the quality and performance.

    Hey Sara ! Nice review(again ). I switched to this exact laptop a few month ago after 5 years spent on a very good MBP retina 15,. I got the i9 version with 32gb of ram and upgraded the 1to Toshiba ssd to a 2tb samsung ssd evo 970. It has the power of a workstation but it’s almost as thin and smart as a macbook pro. Except my headphones, i don’t have to carry around any dongle and adapters. It’s really fast for rendering tasks and editing under premiere pro ! The only 2 two things i would regret from the macbook is the trackpad which is a bit more precise on apple computers, and the fact that it can sometime be a little bit noisier. Keep up the good work ! Hadrien

    • @syedfahmi1436
      @syedfahmi1436 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Hadrien Brunner, does the laptop have a problem with thermal throttling?? Because it is cramped inside that thin laptop and that i9 is a powerful processor.

    • @NuclearFuel
      @NuclearFuel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@syedfahmi1436 it does throttle a lot xD. That's why the Razer Blade 15 is a better choice because they have limited thermal throttling cuz of their insane vapour chamber.

    • @syedfahmi1436

    • @NuclearFuel
      @NuclearFuel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Syed Fahmi the thing with the dell is that even though it has an amazing core i9, the razer blade still gets better cpu scores with its 8750-h because of its crazy solution while the dell’a core i9 can’t stretch its legs with the thermal constraints

    • @syedfahmi1436
      @syedfahmi1436 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah i know right.. i think they need to think about making better cooling compartment before just putting this i9. No point when using it if the performance is not at its peak

    I just got mine a couple of months ago. I am loving it. I had never been into games but this runs games impressively well so now I got a couple tomb Raiders and Ghost Recoon Wildlands and after playing around with some display settings I am so impress how it can run such graphics and it does not heat up much when i play it at 1080. Editing video is a breeze! I love this computer so much. I am already thinking about getting a new one in a couple of years maybe. I seriously am loving this computer. so much power and great quality. Only downside for me is the battery life but i mean, there is a price to pay for a 4k monitor, right? still 5 hours of battery life is not bad when i am running a few programs at the same time. :)

    I was looking at the same two laptops when choosing mine, but I chose the XPS 15 9570. Mine came spec'd with a core i7, 32GB ram & 1 TB SSD. And can't forget the 4k touchscreen! So far so good! It truly chews through productive work and when you want to take a break to watch TH-cam videos, such as this very one, the screen is beyond stunning in every single way imaginable. The build is also quite impeccable, although I did snag a carbon fiber dbrand skin for it for protection and to spice up the looks a bit more. I will see how it goes over the long term, but definitely enjoying it so far!

    I have the Dell XPS 7590 which is the newer version with the OLED 4k screen and I am so glad I went with this computer. WOW. It's the most quiet laptop I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of them. So this thing is a beast of a machine and is so fast and does everything with ease, but other brands can accomplish that. What they can't accomplish, is the build quality this Dell has. The fit and finish this Dell has. You have to feel the palm rest to understand just how insanely comfortable it is. I've never felt anything like it. Sometimes I just run my fingers over it over and over again and my coworkers are like "what the hell are you doing" and I say, "here, you try" and they're like "oh shit, I get it now."

      Can confirm, Razer Customer Support is absolutely trash. I bought a blade stealth, the screen cracked.
      1. They wanted like 350$ just to diagnose the problem (clearly..I knew the exact problem. It needed a new screen)
      2. They refused to sell me a new screen(it was going to cost be another 4-500 for the part and to have them install)+ shipping.
      3. Geek Squad can't even get the parts from them...an actual repair and authorized retail partner of theirs, cannot get parts. That's ridiculous. In fact, if you have a warranty issue with a razer from best buy, they will literally just give you another laptop and have their corporate deal with razer...that's how unreasonable razer is. Unfortunately for me, I didn't buy mine from Best Buy😭
      The laptops are absolutely beautiful, but the hassle they bring is a nightmare.

    3:23 The only thing that really gets hot in the laptop is the processor, but that sits at the top left corner of the keyboard. (That's at least the case with the Dell laptop that I am writing this on) You were just touching the battery and that usually shouldn't get hot.

    I ordered this laptop a few days ago for my personal projects aka C#, Vue, SignalR projects. At work we use powerful Dell precision workstations ( laptops) that are extremely good for what you are trying to accomplish (video processing), however they are much higher tier than the XPS and while you won't get the thin and full edge screen, I'm pretty sure the precision models will process those videos much quicker than anything on the personal market. There is a huge difference in video graphics cards that are made for CAD vs the gaming cards. I would really like to see a comparison now that you have reviewed the 9570 with something like the precision 5000 or 7000 series.

    After investing in 12 MacBooks for me and family within 3 years I stopped cold turkey in 2016 (yeah, Apple haven't seen a penny from me since then). The love/hate relationship with my old macs and the new drove me to search how much people detest the current Apple. Came across Sara's video the other day about moving to Windows platform presented in a nonintrusive way that was calming while providing positive points on the how. Love her presentation and the Evil Elf. SUBBED!

      That's the biggest issue. I had similar issue in the beginning. Later left speaker blew. And now I'm still waiting for the replacement. They are saying they won't the machine even though they have to replace speaker, motherboard and now palm rest. (Basically everything apart from screen) they will just replace the part.
      Complaint about it in the first month. They might replace your machine.

    The fact that it has screws on the bottom is actually a HUGE plus point for me, you might have to clean it eventually a few years down the road or upgrade, especially as a professional.

    Great video. As a suggestion, could you do one that addresses the differences (pros and cons) of the two main ecosystems (Windows/Mac) and how each one "plays" with the other? So if I'm invested in the Apple system and got a Dell laptop, what can still work and what won't, etc.

    Great review! My XPS 15 trackpad curser sometimes jumps down when I click and transfering to the laptop SSD is painfully slow. Could be from all the raw files, but I think I might need to upgrade my SSD. Do you encounter that same issue? Also, my battery doesn't run very long. Davinci Resolve with power saver option lasted me 1.5 hours while editing on the road. I hope my battery isn't faulty - could be something to due with the GTX 1050ti being in use instead of the integrated graphics.

    I have been using this laptop for almost a year now and the performance was just amazing! I fell in love with it for the same reasons you did, especially when it comes to editing. Didn’t have any problems up until a few days ago when it just would bot turn on, the keyboard would light up but the laptop itself would be off. After a couple days of figuring out what was going on, the laptop stopped working all together and I realized lots of people online expressed their anger with Dell for having the same issue for no apparent reason. I am insanely disappointed with Dell, considering this is not a cheap laptop and it seems like too many people have the same issue.

    Nice vid. You ever see the Precision 5530? It's basically an XPS with better processor and gpu. You can get a Xeon 6 core processor and a quadro p2000 gpu in the small form factor of the XPS chassis along with the 4K touchscreen, 32 GB ram, 1TB SSD, and a 97 kWh battery. It is expensive though. Mine ran about $4300

    I'm looking to upgrade my MacBook pro and a direct comparison would be great. I'm reluctant to move away from a mac now after being on it for so long. Apart from the dongle issues would your preference be this or the latest MacBook pro. Cheers

    Thanks for this review Sara. I'm in need of a workstation laptop and I have my eye-balls juicing over the XPS 9570, BUTTTTT....
    I have a spec question!
    Does i7 vs i9, or 16GB vs 32GB really matter?
    I don't edit heavy duty 4K videos, but my mindset is that I want this laptop to last years, so I want it to be future-proof. Of course, I love speed, power, and fast rendering - I'm a Premiere user, and hopefully will soon get into After Effects.
    Being one of those "I should probably get all the best specs" kinda guys, I'm wondering if it's even necessary? The price tag differs by a few hundred dollars depending on specs, so I'm not too sure what to dooooo!

      I've heard the i7 is the way to go over the i9 b/c the 9 gets really hot. These are very thin computers as it is. The 7 is the perfect chip for it.
