That 77 team could beat any team. I don't think any team of any time was better. Thomas Hollywood Henderson actually had excellent individual moments vs the Steelers, especially in both cowboys SB losses inthe 70's vs Pittsburgh. He almost ran SB 10 game opening kickoff for a TD ,setting up a early cowboys fg ,his successfull grasping of Bradshaw in SB 13, allowing his teammate Mike Hegmans to strip Bradshaw of the ball and return it for a cowboys defensive TD certified his presence as being a thorn for the Steelers in both SB games . when the Packers played at the Rams last year packer fans took over that Stadium. The Philadelphia Eagles fans has taking over that Stadium the last 2 years also so that's not saying much.
Real Madrid is a big club too. Around 660 millions of fans, at least one "Peña madridista" (group of fans) in 194 countries in the world. U.N. has 193 members. In this days, we are renovating our house, Santiago Bernabéu stadium. A big work, years, tons of money and worker's sweat. And this new stadium, and all the new business linked to the stadium, are inspired by the Dallas Cowboys. Greatness recognized greatness.
@@carlosduarte4181 Out of all the them it's DREW PEARSON EVERSON WALLS. Strong consideration to Cliff and Harvey. If they beat Pittsburgh in 1 SB another 4 go in easily.
I will forever be grateful for being able to be present for a Dallas Cowboys vs Eagles championship game in the early 80s. I've always loved the Cowboys and 76-86 were the best years ever. Tom Landry will forever be the best coach.
Those Cowboys were so good that even as a Steelers fan in W.PA I respected the Cowboys, enjoyed watching them play & wouldn’t have minded if they won. Tony Dorsett of course was a W.PA hero too. Cowboys were a dynasty in their own right.
I was born in '67 so I was a kid during the great teams of the 70's. I'm a Texan so I loved the Cowboy's. I'm not sure which SB it was but I remember watching some pregame coverage and there was a segment titled The Cliff and Charlie Show. Does anyone else remember it ? If I had to guess it probably was one of the Pittsburgh v Dallas SB's but I can't be totally sure.
Had Roger stayed, we may have won another title or two as I know we win one or two of those NFC Championship games. Danny White was better than he ever gets credit for, however, he had a knack for throwing crucial interceptions and mainly for NOT being Roger the Dodger. I think had Roger played until 84 we at the LEAST win one more title if not 2 or 3.
You are a homer....love ur passion. Roger had concussions. No way he could play into his 40's. By 1984 he would have been 42. Maybe 1 more Super Bowl had he stayed. He was my favorite player. Made 100 greatest. Betr man than player. True Christian.
That 1980 Eagle team that made he Superbowl was good. But, I think Dallas wins the NFC title game if Roger had stayed one more season. I think Dallas would have also beat the 1980 Raiders that represented the AFC with Staubach at the helm. The 1983 Raiders were one of the all-time great teams, but that 1980 squad was the weakest Oakland squad to ever make a Super Bowl appearance in my opinion.
I still don’t know how the hell the Niners beat Dallas in the 82 nfc championship with all the turnovers they made. When u make like 6or 7 turnovers, you have like a one percent chance of winning
As a Cowboys fan, I always found it very interesting about the historical significance between Super Bowl V (1970 season and Super Bowl XII (1977 season). Craig Morton was the Cowboys starting QB for Super Bowl V, and it still is the only Super Bowl in which the MVP was named from the losing team (Cowboys, Doomsday I, Chuck Howley). Ironically, Craig Morton ended up being the starting QB for the Cowboys' opponent in Super Bowl XII, and it is still the only Super Bowl to have co-MVPs (Cowboys, Doomsday ll, Harvey Martin and Randy White).
The first game I ever saw on tv was the Ice Bowl, the 1967 NFL Championship game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. I had just turned 9 years old. I saw the star on the Cowboys helmet and I was instantly hooked. To me, the glory years for Dallas were from the mid sixties until the final NFC Championship game appearance in the early eighties. The early to mid nineties brought three titles in a four year span but was not the same. The Cowboys started and ended with one man: Coach Tom Landry.
@@davidcook680 The mid sixties to the 1978 Super Bowl team (a 35-31 loss to the Steelers in Jan of 1979 in the Orange Bowl) was definitely my favorite time. Consistent excellence by Dallas. Five Super Bowl appearances in the 70s, the most by any team. Keep an eye out come Super Bowl time. Chuck Howley is a Senior Committee nominee for the Hall of Fame. He is 86 and suffering from Alzheimer's. I sure hope he gets in. He had two excellent Super Bowls, V vs the Baltimore Colts and VI vs the Miami Dolphins. He remains the only player from a losing team to win MVP honors in a Super Bowl game. That was in Super Bowl V.
My brother and myself were devastated when Staubach retired. We were in our teens, it made no sense. When the issue of CTE came about it became clear. Roger suffered numerous concussions, and had the sense to get out while he could. As far as former players from any team, he is worth the most $400M. He made the right choice.
Super Bowl 13 was devastating for the team and myself personally even though I have no affiliation I still think and wish that turned out different to this day as the Cowboys would have been the first to win three Super Bowls and then known as the team of the 70s... only thing I could think of changing NFL history moreso or a harder pill to swallow would have been the 2007 Patriots unbeaten team losing to a big Underdog in the New York Giants in the Super Bowl.
Rolando as a young fan (fan of 50 years ) I connected to the players as if there was a personal connection with the players .. As of late I did/have with Dware, Jwit and #9.. As I get older and the generational gap widens not so much connection with players however the STAR on Silver I will always romanticize.
the 70's was the best in good teams, dolphins, steelers, raiders, broncos.cowboys, redskins, vikings teams that were good during the 70's. and there a couple more that were competitive.
Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry, both were the coordinators with the Giants during the years that they were winning championships, Landry was the defensive specialist one of the best in the games history.
The 1977 Dallas Cowboys are clearly THE most underrated team in NFL history. They were the last team to lead the league in total offense AND defense as Doomsday II racked up 53 sacks in a 14 game schedule. This squad then went on to dominate the post-season by outscoring their opponents 87-23. One could argue that in the first 12 years of the Super Bowl Era, the 1977 Cowboys were the greatest NFL team of all-time.
True, but that was the Cowboys last loss of the 1977 season, and they went on to beat the Broncos in the last game of the regular season AND in Super Bowl 12. This was the same Broncos team that defeated the Steelers 34-21 in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.
Not even close - the 1972 Dolphins were better in every retrospect. They led the league in total offense and defense as well as most points scored and fewest points allowed. People can criticize their schedule all they want but look at it this way. When the 1972 season started, K.C., Min., and Bal x2, was a brutal schedule to have to face if you base it off their 1971 performance. Their schedule was soft which means they should win every game......and they did. What makes it worse, their 1973 team was even more devastating despite not leading on all categories. The 1977 Cowboys were not underrated. Everyone had them for the NFC that year since Minnesota was getting older and Los Angeles was in transition with Joe Namath. Most pegged Pittsburgh or Oakland initially but Pittsburgh's off season issues doomed them and Oakland wasn't bad, just Denver came along and didn't give up any points. Dallas was expected to win the NFC and when it was found to be Denver, no one gave the Broncos a chance to win.
IM SO HONORED TO HAVE DISCOVERED THIS TEAM IN 79, SWITCHING FROM VIKINGS, HAVE BLED BLUE EVER SINCE, THANK TO EVERYONE EVER ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ORGANIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doomsday had a great mentality. That's what all the greats had in both offense and defense had. That's a reason all the great players in NFL history are in the Hall of Fame, mentality. The mentality of the players of today is still there, it's just the NFL seems to be trying to mask it the best way they can.
Ed “To Tall” Jones should be in the Hall of Fame. The only good part about the NFL not paying generational wealth to players in the 1970s was that it allowed players like Henderson to step away to pursue dreams & then come back. Hollywood Henderson was a beast of an athlete & entertaining too.
Roger Staubach is the only autograph i have ever gotten from a famous person. I have met MANY famous people. He was the only one i cared to get. Love Rodger the Dodger!!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the error by Randy White around the 41:30 mark. Franco scored a TD midway thru the 4th quarter shortly after the controversial PI on Benny Barnes. During the ensuing kickoff White fumbled the ball. The next play Bradshaw hit Swann in the back of the end zone for the score that provided the final margin of victory.
You're absolutely right. The Harris run was right before the fumbled return, and was only twenty-something yards. Considering Pittsburgh scored two touchdowns in a three play sequence, I don't really blame Randy for being a little dazed though. -.-
There is a sequence of three or four plays in the third which doomed us. We were out playing them, they hadn't gained many yards in the second half and the call, the drop and the fumble as well as the ref blocking Charlie on the Franco run all work against us.
Interesting fact about the decline of Doomsday II. Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters never played a regular or postseason game together after SB XIII. Waters missed the entire 79 season with a knee injury and the Harris retired after the 1979 season.

I’v been to some memorable Cowboys games one of my favorites was Thanksgiving day 1974 against the Red Skins when Roger was knocked out of the game by Dirone Talbert and a guy no one ever heard of No 19 Clint Longly ended up throwing a bomb down the left side of the field to Drew Person for the game winning score, what a game Happy Thanksgiving.
In addition to Harvey Martin and Randy White, there is no question that Ed “Too Tall” Jones and Randy Hughes could have gotten a share of the MVP award in Super Bowl XII.
Five Super Bowls in 10 years, 2 Super Bowl titles by a combined score of 51-13, and 3 Super Bowl losses by a combined 11 points. The Cowboys also won more games than any team in the 1970's, and the 1977 Cowboys team are clearly THE most underrated team in NFL history. They were the last team to lead the league in total offense AND defense as Doomsday II racked up 53 sacks in a 14 game schedule. Hmmmm good points. 1993 i believe to be their best....at least of the final 3. 78 team was unreal as well. I still believe they were betr team in SB 13. Pitt got the break (s)....many of them.
@@michaelleroy9281 The 1975 Dirty Dozen draft helped the 1977 Cowboys to overcome some issues that could have derailed their Super Bowl winning run. For example, Hall of Fame RT Rayfield Wright suffered a knee injury prior to the 77 season, but Pat Donavan filled in beautifully for Wright. Thomas Henderson did the same on the defensive side of the ball, turning the Cowboy's LB corps from an aging/slow group to a young/fast group of linebackers.
Nobody enjoyed Dallas more than I did in the 60's and 70's! Nobody was more devastated than I was when Jerry Jones took over the destruction of Dallas!
I was fortunate to have met Randy White, and Bob Lilly and have my Pro Football Hall of Fame football signed by both. I also was at a autograph show where Ernie Stautner was signing and didn't want to spend the extra few dollars to get him to sign that football. I have truly regretted that since.
I loved them so much, I never saw the decline as it was happening. I saw them slowly retire and replace superb players with lesser players, but the uniform and the Stars n the helmet kept me mesmerized and thinking we were ALWAYS just barely out of it. I made every excuse there was. I rationalized but realized the front office was no longer finding and coming up with phenomenal performers. The FLEX got old and predictable. I saw it, but wouldn't admit it. I never accepted the actual slow decline until they unceremoniously fired and retired the GREAT Tom Landry. Beautiful outro here with beloved Bob Bruneg (Mr. Not Lee Roy Jordan) singing and playing.
Herb Aderly came to the Cowboys from the Packers in 1970 and Lance Alworth came to the Cowboys from the Chargers in 1971 to help Dallas win Super Bowl 6 over the Miami Dolphins in the 1971-72 season. Tom Landry also had some truly great assistant coaches in the 1970s; Erie Stautner, Dan Reeves, Mike Ditka and Gene Stallings.

This was awesome! Loved every minute of it.
Former Cowboys who belong in the NFL HOF. Ed Jones, Drew Pearson, and Darren Woodson.
Harvey Martin Everson Walls Nate Newton
Cliff Harris, Charlie Waters & Harvey Martin also.
Charlie Waters & Cliff Harris being in the hall of fame
Cornell Green as well
@@carlosduarte4181 Out of all the them it's DREW PEARSON EVERSON WALLS.
Thomas Hollywood Henderson, Randy White, Harvey Martin, Ed Too Tall Jones, Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters!
Those Cowboys were so good that even as a Steelers fan in W.PA I respected the Cowboys, enjoyed watching them play & wouldn’t have minded if they won. Tony Dorsett of course was a W.PA hero too. Cowboys were a dynasty in their own right.
NOW THATS A DEFENSE
I was born in '67 so I was a kid during the great teams of the 70's. I'm a Texan so I loved the Cowboy's. I'm not sure which SB it was but I remember watching some pregame coverage and there was a segment titled The Cliff and Charlie Show. Does anyone else remember it ? If I had to guess it probably was one of the Pittsburgh v Dallas SB's but I can't be totally sure.
Beautiful relation, that was the doomsday defense, The great test defense, I remember them, Thank you all of them. 👏 👏 👏 🤗 🤗
Legends set the foundation for future legends. Great video!
WE MITE HAVE SMH
That 1980 Eagle team that made he Superbowl was good. But, I think Dallas wins the NFC title game if Roger had stayed one more season. I think Dallas would have also beat the 1980 Raiders that represented the AFC with Staubach at the helm. The 1983 Raiders were one of the all-time great teams, but that 1980 squad was the weakest Oakland squad to ever make a Super Bowl appearance in my opinion.
Roger wouldn't have fumbled in SF.
Tom Landry was the Cowboys.
@@lichotropical3350 No doubt about it. Officially, Bob Lilly is "Mr. Cowboy" but that title should have been bestowed to Coach Landry.
Chuck Howley might make it into the HOF this year. He is 86 and in the throes of dementia. He should have been enshrined years ago.
I been watching the cowboys sense the 80's. Would have loved to been watching in the sixties
Hollywood Henderson said it all when he said the people who said the 70's weren't fun wasn't there. I loved growing up in the 70's....
The retirement of Starbach and Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters after 81 was huge
Very huge. The Defence was never the same.
Boy this brings back great memories
Rolando as a young fan (fan of 50 years ) I connected to the players as if there was a personal connection with the players .. As of late I did/have with Dware, Jwit and #9.. As I get older and the generational gap widens not so much connection with players however the STAR on Silver I will always romanticize.
Ray Ramon Ramon I remember watching these games with my father. Which made me the COWBOYS fanatic I am today! Bleeding Silver and Blue for 40+ years!
the 70's was the best in good teams, dolphins, steelers, raiders, broncos.cowboys, redskins, vikings teams that were good during the 70's. and there a couple more that were competitive.
Bradshaw (4), Staubach(4) Griese(3) Stabler(1) all was number 12, 9 Super Bowl Champs
Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry, both were the coordinators with the Giants during the years that they were winning championships, Landry was the defensive specialist one of the best in the games history.
‘77 and ‘92 my favorite Cowboys teams
Nice to see them all AGAIN
The 1977 Dallas Cowboys are clearly THE most underrated team in NFL history. They were the last team to lead the league in total offense AND defense as Doomsday II racked up 53 sacks in a 14 game schedule. This squad then went on to dominate the post-season by outscoring their opponents 87-23. One could argue that in the first 12 years of the Super Bowl Era, the 1977 Cowboys were the greatest NFL team of all-time.
Except in Pittsburgh in November.
@@1983jblack And in the 1971 season Dallas destroyed the Dolphins in SB VI. And it was about the same Dolphins team in 1972.
Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters were good enough to be Hall of Famers
Cliff Harris is in 2021
IM SO HONORED TO HAVE DISCOVERED THIS TEAM IN 79, SWITCHING FROM VIKINGS, HAVE BLED BLUE EVER SINCE, THANK TO EVERYONE EVER ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ORGANIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didnt know BoB Bruining sang and played the guitar. Cool!!
What a great time ! Congratulations Hollywood, glad you're still here.
Roger Staubach is the only autograph i have ever gotten from a famous person. I have met MANY famous people. He was the only one i cared to get. Love Rodger the Dodger!!
I remember like it was yesterday:)
The Dallas cowboys when tom landry was coach at10yrs old I be been hoocked ever since.im 50yrs old and still native sanfrancan but a die hard cowboys fan
Craig Pruitt-You're right because I picked up on that right away myself.
You're absolutely right. The Harris run was right before the fumbled return, and was only twenty-something yards. Considering Pittsburgh scored two touchdowns in a three play sequence, I don't really blame Randy for being a little dazed though. -.-
I would be willing to bet had white not fumbled that ball ,Dallas could ve won
There is a sequence of three or four plays in the third which doomed us. We were out playing them, they hadn't gained many yards in the second half and the call, the drop and the fumble as well as the ref blocking Charlie on the Franco run all work against us.
Interesting fact about the decline of Doomsday II. Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters never played a regular or postseason game together after SB XIII. Waters missed the entire 79 season with a knee injury and the Harris retired after the 1979 season.
The Greatest Dallas Cowboys Franchise Historical 💙 Team ever live. my beloved ♥ Dallas Cowboys 🇺🇸. forever.

Harvey martin and ed jones deserve be in pro football hall of fame period and cowboys ring of honor
I became a cowboys fan during the 77 season, my favorite defensive player was too tall and randy white
Denver was 8 of 25 passing, not Morton. Morton was 4 of 15. Denver also used Norris Weese and Craig Penrose.
In addition to Harvey Martin and Randy White, there is no question that Ed “Too Tall” Jones and Randy Hughes could have gotten a share of the MVP award in Super Bowl XII.
Charlie Watters and Cliff Harris....loved watching those guys...and was pissed off Randy Hughes career was cut short
So many memories
DOOMSDAY STEEL CURTAIN SACK PACK THOSE WERE THE DAYS
DOOMSDAY WOULD NOT MAKE IT IN TODAYS GAME WHERE IF THE QB NOSE IS RUNNING AND DEFENSE DONT WIPE IT ITS 15 YARDS
The 1977 Cowboys, everything went.right that year
@@michaelleroy9281 The 1975 Dirty Dozen draft helped the 1977 Cowboys to overcome some issues that could have derailed their Super Bowl winning run.
For Roger Staubach and Thomas Hollywood Henderson were their missing links in those 3 games
Hollywood was LT's idol. The Original 56. Go ask him.
Cliff Harris 2020 pro football Hall Of Fame class
Bob Breunig is a pretty damn good musician and singer.
Nobody enjoyed Dallas more than I did in the 60's and 70's! Nobody was more devastated than I was when Jerry Jones took over the destruction of Dallas!
I was upset too , however change is gonna happen, who else you gonna root for ? All teams have there bad points ! I’m a Cowboys fan forever
The Greatest Dallas Cowboys Franchise Historical Team ever to live
My heroes have always been cowboys. They still are today
Dallas Cowboys my team since they put the blue staron the helment
Dallas Cowboys ⭐🏈
Herb Aderly came to the Cowboys from the Packers in 1970 and Lance Alworth came to the Cowboys from the Chargers in 1971 to help Dallas win Super Bowl 6 over the Miami Dolphins in the 1971-72 season. Tom Landry also had some truly great assistant coaches in the 1970s; Erie Stautner, Dan Reeves, Mike Ditka and Gene Stallings.
Tom landry turned players into men cowboys greatest franchise of alltime
Randy White will always be my top favorite COWBOY.
Wow Randy hughs first time hearing this! Awesome!
I love watching 70’s nfl and I love when defenses had names

I wish that would come back
Epic video 🙏🏽🎉🇺🇸❤️🙌🏼👍🏼
They were monsters in Dallas
Every man in the video are HOF to me.....ring of honor as well. Waters, DD Lewis played in all 5 superbowls under Landry. Breunig Hegman, Henderson Randy and Too tall 3 or 4. Martin as well. Cliff Harris there as well. Rayfield Wright, Cliff Harris, Roger Staubach, Randy White, Mel Renfro, Tony Dorsett and Drew Pearson all got Gold Jackets from those years. Other ones that should at least been ring of honor include all of them plus Danny White, Tom Rafferty, Ralph Neely, Robert Newhouse, Billy Joe DuPree, Pat Donovan, Preston Pearson, Golden Richards, Jethro Pugh, Randy Hughes, and John Fitzgerald. Dallas 77 might be the best team ever in the history of the NFL!
The " flex" defense was the best in the NFL.
I'm wondering whether Harvey Martin ever had a sack where the quarterback wasn't absolutely annihilated !!!
He looked like he was out of murder every time he hit one
They would've WON the 3 consecutive NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES that they were in, in '80, '81 and '82 with Hollywood
Maybe! Yeah that was really bitter not to get at least get one of those Super Bowls really was! I blame Danny white ultimately he was like Romo. Good but not clutch. Staubach and Aikman were a different breed white and Romo were chokers!!!
We would have won the Superbowl 3 years in a row if Roger hadn't retired simple as that wouldn't even been close we would have beat the Raiders the Bengals and the Dolphins we didn't need Henderson we needed Rodger
I remember the 81 championship game we were in field goal range and Danny White fumbled the catch wouldn't even exist if Danny White hadn't fumbled we were in field goal range
@@forrestmarques7256 i wouldnt quite put white in the same sentence as tony romo.....white at least got to THREE nfc championship games....romo got to how many???

Dallas Cowboys★
Harris and Waters the best safety tandem around. My opinion though.
How the hell is Waters still so youthful and handsome!!!
Doomsday Defense. 2. Was a Awesome. Team R, White. Ed Two Jones. Harvey Martin. And others Great Players
Staubach is my favorite player ever
Never understood why in that second superbowl against Pittsburgh, they stop running Tony Dorsett, he was killing the Steelers
Craig Morton completed only 8 passes..4 to his team and 4 to the Cowboys in the Super Bowl....
😳
Charlie waters said he felt so sorry for Craig, he almost wanted to go over and hug him
Was Craig Morton still on the team during the Super Bowl game against Miami? If he did, then I guess he got a Super Bowl ring. They sure had no sentimental feelings for Morton in the Super Bowl against the Broncos!
