French is the furthest "sounding." Spanish sits closely between Portuguese and Italian. But vocabulary-wise I tend to find more common words between French and Italian - they just don't sound similar at all! (vs. Spanish and Italian where sometimes they sound sometimes exactly the same)

@@SuperJ213 I'm learning italian in Duolingo and yes, is easier to learn Spanish knowing how are written the words. Practically, we spoke the words literally how are written.
And since Italian is practically identical to Spanish, it became much easier for me to learn. Now I am trying to learn Portuguese, but the pronunciation of some of its words is a bit difficult.

I still can't understand perfectly because they speak too fast and I never know which accent I should be listening for. They say the same about my brasilian portuguese so I guess we are even.

“Aglioso” isn’t an Italian word and “rollalo” neither. 😂
Sometimes in Italian we add “oso” at the end of the world, to say “this taste like..”
“aglioso” means it takes like aglio (garlic), but we made up words like this, its not actually a real word.
Also, we take a verb in English and we spell it in Italian with Italian grammar to make it more Italian, creating new made up words. “rollalo” = to roll + it, “Roll it”, in Italian should’ve been “Giralo”, from the verb “girare” = to roll, 😂
So yeah This is something we do for lots of words, “Rollalo” instead of “Giralo”/“Attorciglialo”😂

I was losing track of what was which language while still understanding the conversations. And (surprisingly or unsurprisingly) that helped quite a bit with the Portuguese as well, although it was hard to get still - I just got the main ideas. But, what was interesting was, I had no idea through which language I was understanding the Portuguese - it was just like the words were making sense in my head!
