Repairing the Body of my Carbon Quest Velomobile

- Someone's bike fell over my Quest last year leaving this ugly crack on the body of my Carbon Quest velomobile. My brother did the repair work. And here is how it was done.

Great video Saukki. That was a good idea to show how your brother approached the crack repair. It was easy to follow... but I am sure he made it look easier than it actually is...
Well now , what a blessing it is to have a brother to have who is an expert in carbon fiber!!! And he made it stronger nice!!! I'll bet if he wanted he could make a carbon fiber Velomobile , but i can see why it makes to make small parts for RC planes, less work more money.😊👍
I used to work on boats while living in Hawaii, and we used an aeronautical/marine grade wax called "Fleetwax 885" for the fiberglass finish. I used it for my BMW as well, and it will work well for your Quest. I really recommend it and it is easy to have your Quest looking new and protecting it relatively easily. If you are interested, I'll give you a quick rundown of the steps.
(1) On a sunny day so you can see what you are doing, use Collinite's Fiberglass Boat Cleaner on a wet rag in small circular motions to remove the water spots and grime stuck on your Quest after washing it. It's a bit abrasive to remove the grime, but use light pressure so you don't rub through the paint. Wipe off the cleaner with a dry fluffy towel, again, using light pressure.
Now that it is clean and shiny, you can put the wax on. I'd recommend waxing your Quest in quarters due to the size.
(2) In the shade, put the wax on 25% of your Quest with a small soft sponge, or a piece of a small cotton towel, then using a soft towel (such as a fluffy golf towel, buff off the wax by hand in circular motions to remove the wax after it dries (about 5-10 minutes after application). Repeat that step until all of your Quest has 1 coat of wax all the way around. What a couple of hours so the wax has a bit of time to set, then apply another coat of wax in the same process. Each subsequent coat application and buffing will get easier and take less time as the layers build up due to the surface smoothing out.
If it were my Quest, I'd probably overkill it with 6 coats, but 3-4 coats over 2 days will have it looking great and protect it for about 6 months depending on how often you wash it.
BTW, I am not a sales person for Collinite, I just used them exclusively on Hawaii yachts because there is nothing better on the market, and their products aren't expensive.

Another excellent video Saukki. Just a word of caution when rubbing your fingers over the carbon fibre (or fibreglass) - it is possible that one of the fibres will penetrate your skin (like a splinter) and you may well find it very hard to remove. This has happened to me a few times now! Keep up the good work.
