    Thank you, Sukki, for being objective and talking openly about the different issues with velomobiles. It seems as if most velomobile owners and dealers only like to tell about the good sides of velomobiles. This is unfortunately resulting in lack of information for those buying a velomobile for the first time. As you do, giving the whole picture, is a very good way of informing people so that they don’t get frustrated after buying their first velomobile. It is giving a positive result for the community in the long run. Keep up your good work!

    Hello Saukki. I too have an orange Carbon Quest. Mine is five years and one month old. As of today I have put 34,356 miles / 55,290 km on it. It is my second Quest.
    I put 32,115 miles / 51,684 km on my first fiberglass Quest before I sold it.
    I first saw a video of Velomobiles and other than photos and or videos, I'd never seen a Velomobile before.
    I fell in love with the shape and lines of the Quest. I still am.
    In regards to my Carbon Quest I had to rebuild the front wheels at 3,000 miles / 4,828 km. Half of the eyelets in both front Gecko rims had cracked by that time.
    I run the aluminum alloy swingarm that cracked at 10,000 miles / 16,038km. I had it welded.
    At 12,500 miles /20,116 km the the "L" mounting bracket for the swingarm that is bonded into the outer shell snapped. I made a new "L" bracket that was considerably stronger than the first. It won't fail.
    At 15,000 miles /24,140km the swingarm cracked again. This time Velomobiel.nl made me an extra extra strong swingarm that will most likely out live me.
    At 31,000 miles the front right suspension strut failed. Apparently the spring inside the strut had broken at one end. I don't know when it broke nor felt anything different but it cut it's way through the body of the strut until it failed. I got new struts and brakes from Velomobiel.nl.
    Two days ago a tie rod end in the steering linkages failed. I rebuilt it with tie rod ends I had here at home.
    I will soon be rebuilding the rear wheel with a new rim as that 26" Gecko rim too has a number of cracked eyelets.
    Today I hit 1,009 miles /1,624 km since July 1st. Today is July 27th.
    I love my Carbon Quest

    always puzzles me when any kind of biker endangers his own safety so that cars can pass them ... after thousands of kms the golden rule is bike at least one meter away from the curb or parked cars...

    On my second Quest, so yeah, I think it's a great machine. But i also buy mine used.....so my choices are more limited.

    early Quest user here in the UK. I have no complaints about the stability and center of gravity. It handles better than an average car through the bends. The stability of the steering mechanism though is pretty poor. The steering geometry doesn't have a self-centering tendency. Any gust of winds or road imperfection will tend to throw it off ballance. I have added a steering damper and it has improve significantly, but still not ideal. Great machine though. good for mile munching. Thanks Saukki for the review and all the great videos

    Great review Saukki! I bought my Carbon Quest #818 about 1 year after you and our machines are almost identical. The one issue which I have faced that you have not is broken spokes. Apparently, Velomobiel.nl had issues obtaining wheels back in 2017 and therefore used tubeless rims when they built my bike. I have had constant problems with broken spokes (almost always where the nipple threads to the spoke). In total, I have broken at least 15 front spokes, and this is after having the wheels serviced twice. I even had the wheels re-laced with 1 size heavier gauge spokes before a long trip I took.
    I would like to replace my front wheels with something more robust. Perhaps you or another viewer could make a recommendation? I also love the Quest and after 16,000 kms I would definitely recommend it to others! Thanks for the great videos!!

      I don’t have any recommendations about wheels. But I would probably contact Ginkgo and ask if they have something more robust.

    You mention some improvement in reinforcement in new ones, I wondered what year this take place.
    I found a used Quest made in 2005, running at 50,000km. If it is still worth to get and use the savings for upgrades.
    I heard that Quest is good for tall person, if I can fit for around 160cm in height?

    Your horn isnt needed if you just going to use it to rebuke , not to prevent an accident. Never needed to use the horn myself. As and advanced driver and rider aswell as being a cyclist and recumbent trike rider, I consider it bad planning if I put myself in a sitution that it is needed.

    If got enough space and money I would by a Alpha 7 as my second velomobile. Not a Quest. :)

    How much faster are you with a velomobil compared to a bike? I go about 25kmh on avg. with my trekking bike. What kind of speed increase would I have?

      It depends of the model of velomobile and some other things like terrain and amount of intersections where you have to stop etc. But I'd say you could probably average something like 35 - 40 km/h with a decent velomobile like Quest or DF. Maybe even faster.

    I have the 2006 non-carbon quest. The cons are not a huge problem with my version. It is more stable then the carbon quest, because it has more weight. Not only in corners but also in situation with massive wind from the side.... my quest rides safe. :) In my latest videos I show, that you can ride a quest in winter, but as you said. It is not perfect and it is not made for it. The turning radius is bad, but you get used to it. Thank you for your great videos! :)

    Quest and Strada become more stable in side wind after adding a storm strip to the body.

    Ei Saukki, clear over view and very nice pictures showing details. As Alve mention it's good to have pros & cons that help figuring out in cas eof selecting the most suitable enine to buy. Last good point in your video is the sequencing : very professional + drone views showing how Finland is beaufull. Ei huolta

    Great video as always! I've always been impressed by the work Velomobil.nl has done over the years. I have the Quest's smaller cousin the Mango Plus, here in Helsingør, Denmark but want to sell it. I really love riding it, but it's too narrow for me, and climbing in and out of it like a kayak is rather difficult. I also do not like the large turning radius it shares with the Quest.
    I will probably go back to a full suspension recumbent trike or quad and use the Leitra Wildcat fairing, or go back to a standard Leitra velomobile. For myself, it is much easier to get in and out of, has tight turn radius, it is practical all year around, and has the largest storage of any velomobile.

    I rode several Quest for about 10 years, and still believe it to be a very good machine. However, I agree with you on the stiffness and stability. That is why I changed to a DF in 2016. I miss the limousine type of ride comfort of the Quest but love the sporty feel of the DF (which still is surprisingly comfortable).

    I'm about to change the chainrings on my Quest (from 2006 => heavier). So I'm wondering if you really used the 57/12 ratio you have or if it's better to go for smaller top ratio?
