From what I hear from fellow travelers, Richmond isn't high on many lists of places to see in the U.S., but we believe Richmond is highly underrated.

We drove 2 hours north to spend the day in Richmond, and see for ourselves just what great things this city had to offer. We tried to fit a lot of things to do in just one day. Check out a few the links here in the description to find out more about the locations.
Richmond is quickly transforming into a cultural hotspot, and great restaurants are popping up every week!
We dropped a pin to the location of the Pipeline Trial for anyone confused like we were. After walking down E. Canal St., we turned onto Virginia St. There is a small parking lot at the end of the road where you can park, and walk a short distance to the entrance.

I was born and grew up in Richmond in the 80s and 90s. My family left and moved to DC in 2001 right before 9/11. I live out west now in Denver Colorado but I miss the east coast. My mom still lives in Richmond, the city has changed and become so much more fun and enjoyable
I was born and raised in Richmond and lived there most of my life. Living there is a fishbowl but kudos to the visitors who thinks our city is great. 👍

Oh wow thank you! I got the transitions from watching a lot of IZ Harris videos. My YT goal is to make a travel film as good as Sam Kolder or Ben TK, but they put a massive amount of time into editing and effects. I do think we're finally getting more comfortable in front of the camera so it's less awkward.
I'm from the 804 and now live in the 757. Maymont Park was the go-to for family outings and school field trips growing up. Such a beautiful place. Nice video.

It was so bad. Not the worst we've seen but you know when you can just see a ton of it flying around you're not in for a good day. 🤣. Take awesome pictures if you go to the sweet spot. That's our favorite spot on the strip.

I recently moved here from Virginia Beach- Still learning my way around.
Just came from Virginia beach actually! We live in Norfolk. First time we visited Richmond we admittedly didn't love it, but after being there three times now we both agree that there's really a lot to explore. Seeing all of Maymont can take up a weekend alone.
Is Richmond better than Virginia Beach?
I'd say they both have things that make them great. If you're a person that likes the beach then VA beach is better. But if you're a person that likes big city life then you'll lean more towards Richmond. Personally lean towards Richmond because it's easier to travel up north where most of my family lives

You should! And if you love outdoors, which it seems you do, Va has great stops, especially the western and southern parts of Virginia, and along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I missed the Triangle Park area close to Monument Ave. That's where I grew up in the 40's and 50's. Missed Broad Street. Missed the Museum of Fine Arts and the Russian jeweled egg collection. Once had a picnic in Hollywood cemetery, so beautiful.

Richmond is a beautiful City however you shown it as more beautiful than it looks very good video.. I am living in Richmond but don’t know about this pipe line trail.. Today I searched a lot and reached there it’s really a hidden wonderland.. Thanks for showing it..

Richmond is the best! It's hard to beat a huge river running through the city along with the art, mural and culture. I love seeing all the confederate monuments getting removed and taken down, but there is also something satisfying and encouraging about seeing all the positive messages that have been painted over top of that one as well, and the fact that the spot is being used for activism. Very cool! Enjoyed this one guys, one of both mine and Lauren's favorite cities in the US!
Thank you! If we spent more than a day we would have totally went rafting down the James river. That looked like a lot of fun. We were surprised it was such a cultural melting pot. Kind of glad they left the Lee statue up because it sends a strong message of change

Soo much to unpack in this video!!! We had NO IDEA that Richmond was so DOPE!!!! We have been planning a trip to Morgantown, WV but now are going to set up a few days to check out Richmond on the way home!
Oh Morgantown is fun. We've been trying to plan out how to make our way that way for Morgantown and new river gorge. Honestly feel like you have to go to Richmond at the right time. We stopped through in Feb when it was cold and nothing was colorful and though meh. But coming back in the spring/summer it gets live! So happy we gave it another shot
Just amazing to see how something built to honor the leader of something so destructive has become the rallying point for the cause of love, the enemy of destruction.
Live in Chesterfield, just south of Richmond, could go there in maybe 10 minutes by car, but I've almost completely ignored it most of my life. Apart from one interview, and an instance I tried to explore the city (at rush hour, and thus got pushed back out onto a toll road by traffic) I've gone there less than 10 times in my almost 30 years here, and videos like this make me think that's a shame. The shops and community to look appealing, but as a suburban boi, I don't much know how you go about driving in and parking in a city like this, nor where to go once I'm on foot. Glad to have at least a few more examples.

Love the intro and drone shots!! That place looks beautiful. We would have considered visiting. It it was for you video. I love the trail, sounds like fun. Wow you can white water raft there to, awesome. The views and the art work are beautiful. Are you staying there a few night or is it a day trip? How many days you recommend?
You should give it a visit! We just went for a day trip and fit in a lot in just that day. Also missed a lot too. I think a weekend would be enough to see a good deal of the city. Get a chance to visit a bunch of restaurants and shops and still have time to go places like Maymont. We only showed the gardens, but you could spend at least half a day there alone it's so huge. If you want to hit the river I'd dedicate a few hrs to that as well.

I have lived in Richmond all my life. That shot of Main Street Station made me remember it used to be a shopping center. I wish they would repurpose it because of the rich culture it represents.

Byrd Theater Carytown. Also, there’s a different Hill up Broad Street into Church Hill that overlooks the James River and the view is virtually identical to one in Richmond, London England that overlooks the Thames River.That’s how Richmond Virginia got its name in the 1700’s.
we knew how Richmond got its name, and some of the similarities, but we had no idea that were that identical . Always nice to learn something new. Thank you.

It basically was! Kinda like a when you get a slushy from a 7 eleven and add alcohol to it in the summer time. It was so good.

Visit the Maggie Walker center and black history and cultural museums in the historic Jackson Ward. Also there the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts on Arthur Jr. Blvd

Thank you. That's the hope with our video. We had the same thoughts initially as a lot of people do. Thinking there wasn't much to do in RVA, but we were so wrong! Hopefully this video grows and gets shared out so more people can learn about how great an area it is!

I think it was lime. Don't remember the other flavor they had, but lime was the only one they were selling at the time. Def worth a trip unless some other place serves them. We haven't found another yet though.

If they would finally reopen back the city hall observation deck that would also be another great spot it's free and over looks the whole city but if you still insist on seeing the city from high up three great spots starting from my fave to good is kabana rooftop bar quirk hotel RT and the graduate hotel RT

We're down in Va Beach, but we work a lot with Virginia Tourism and they have us travel to Rva a bunch

Best thing I can tell you is do your research. Every state along the coast and in the south has a deeply rooted in a history of racism. What I will tell you is Va is trying to be progressive. Especially in areas like Richmond, Norfolk, and Va Beach.

This was posted nearly 2 years ago. We have a new Mayor that turned this city on it's head in that small amount of time. Just keep heading north or south on 95....not worth the stop in one of the worst managed cities on the east coast. SHAMEFUL

You want a better Richmond city? Then you need a union in city hall. Why? The workers are not the problem. Bad management creates bad emoyees and the current solution is love it or leave it or get pushed out. No, to have an actual change the members of management and human resources need to change.

@@TheDetourDuo city representatives broke the city to suit their purpose. No city representative listens - none. Thry pretend but don't. A sidewalk repair was put in over 10 years ago several times. Still never repaired but receives plenty of lies. So ?
The best kept secret city in the USA ever Richmond is like having the best of all worlds 🌎 I call it the melting pot of the mid Atlantic perfect location right in the middle of everything north, south ,east and west extremely diverse, Hispanic, Hindu, african, Asian, Caucasian African American, you name it has all races living there so cultural so much to see explore more restaurants then days of the year and oh my such a walkable city excellent transportation system downtown the pulse takes you all around runs every 10 to 15 min The Main street train station u can hop on downtown and take a ride up to Dc our Nation capital right up the road ,downtown is amazing from broad street to carytown to the fan distric, to Scott's Addition row houses like up north restaurants on every corner in the Fan district, boutiques and quaint stores line Carytown I could go on and on I love ❤️ RVA and I love your video of Rva thanks for sharing 👍 ❤️.
