Which place would YOU visit? 😍👇
Rest In Pieces on Laurel St
@@JOEmfnAUSTIN that place is sooo unique!
Subrosa Bakery
@@hondapilot love it there!!
Proper Pie Co is such a gem! Moving out there in August, so please keep these types of videos coming ❤
For sure will! Need to keep sharing my favorites, as there are so many! 😝😍 thanks Austin!
Two of our favorite places the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and The Byrd Theatre . We never think to eat around there. Now we will. All the best. Jim and Harriet
@@costasworldofmusicmemories5792 so much fun!! 😍
The vmfa is so underrated! Nobody ever goes there! A true hidden gem
Everytime I’ve visited back home it’s back backed . Especially Fridays when they have jazz and free wine tasting .
????????????
@@michaelbumbalo6116 it’s a joke. Not a single thing in this video is underrated
@@alex-lk4gh what in the fuck do you mean the vmfa is ‘underrated and nobody ever goes there’
@@michaelbumbalo6116 did you not just see my response telling you it was a joke
Hey girl!! I love watching your channel, you’re one of my favorite creators!!! I would super love to see you share some vlogs about your day to day life, maybe less centered on Richmond/Virginia/travel and more about you, veganism, and life in general (more chill and unscripted). I think it would be super fun to watch 🥰 much love 💕💕
LOVE this idea! I would love to do a day in the life vlog! Will work on something soon. Thanks Madi for the kind words too 💚💚
Agreed!
I absolutely 💯 love Richmond Va the whole city is underrated reminds me so much of cities like Newark, parts of DC and Baltimore has such a mid Atlantic to North Eastern vibe so many restaurants downtown in the fan row houses shopping museums extremely diverse who knew love ❤️ your video📹. I also agree with the comment hidden gem 💎 I want Richmond to stay a hidden gem 💎 it's like having the northeast vibe without the northeast traffic cost of living its so centrally located near everything not to fast but not to slow either the perfect city .
I love the vmfa!! It is definitely worth checking their website to see what attractions are coming into town!
Paix is legit. Solid vibes and solid dudes. If you haven’t been to Shoredog, that’s a great coffee shop to work from. Conejo has incredible upscale street tacos. And Bar West has really good vibes. Also, if you haven’t been to Stellas, you’re missing out-insane Greek food! There are just so many pockets of personality in RVA. I’ve only been here for a few years and I’m always finding new spots!
@@jonbannan7647 thanks for these tips!! Will def check them all out 😍 Shoredog looks cute!
@@LaurenZRay totally! And Shoredog is attached to a Home goods store. It's a dangerous combo haha 😅
@@jonbannan7647 ohhhh I love home goods!! Very dangerous haha
Don't know if this counts as Richmond, but when I used to live there, sometimes my friend and I would drive out to Goochland, it's a little past Shortpump. There's a drive-in theater out there! Still running too as far as I know. Great place for dates. They of course have food and drinks and restrooms there too.
@@Jenibirm6114 love this idea!! Thank you 💚
Grew up there. Moved away 28 years ago. All of my family are still there, so I’m there for frequent visits. Awesome city. Here’s hoping Richmond remains an underrated hidden gem. Nashville (where I currently live) used to be an underrated gem. Now it’s a hillbilly nightmare with a carnival atmosphere and aspirations to be the next LA, NY or Hotlanta.
I’ve heard Nashville is now known as Nash Vegas 🤣
Yes, it is known as NashVegas! And I have moved away from that place since posting my initial comment. I’m officially back in RVA.
Lauren, love your vlogs for their inquisitive, thoughtful reporting. Richmond also has many amazing coffee shops and bakeries. If you have an opportunity visit them and provide your review
Love the VMFA. Our Virginia history museum -- The Valentine -- is also fun. We get Proper Pie as often as possible. They also serve their pies at a table during the Church Hill Irish Festival -- another longstanding RVA tradition!
@@amyzzon I’m sad I missed the church hill Irish festival! Can’t wait to go next year though 😍
Maymount is wonderful
I’ve lived just outside of Richmond for nearly 5 years, and I’ve not heard of any of these places. Definitely want to give them a visit when my husband and I get a rare date night.
@@amandalynnlucarini9517 yes! Blue Atlas is great for a date night too 😍
septal ring is the key to her heart
casually running into the video having no idea it had vegan recommendations. def visiting paix coffee and proper pie, thank you so much ♡
@@renshous.2047 for sure!! Such good vegan food in Richmond too! I have another video with some other great choices 😍
Good list! As a local, I love a good CVS (down the hill in Shockoe) Proper Pie, Libbie Hill run! never heard of PAIX but I plan to check it out.
Love that day for you!! Also Paix is pretty cool! Love the unique vibe & interesting drink choices 😍. Thank you so much for the kind words!💚
i live in VA and never visited these places! cant wait. Thankyou!
@@LittleFlame93 of course!! 💚 Have fun!
There are actually three presidents buried in Hollywood Cemetery, not two, though the third one was not a president of the U.S., he was the first, and only, president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis. His tombstone is quite something to see as well: it would appear that ol' Jeff Davis gets the final word on the lost cause.
Now that I know Im moving up there, I'm watching your videos multiple times, lol.
Haha I love this!!
I really like the baroque paintings section at the vmfa
@@andrewparsons3277 such a good spot! 😍
I believe the VMFA’s Lillian Pratt Collection of Faberge’ is the largest single collection in the US. (Malcolm Forbes, of Forbes magazine and other fame, used to have the biggest collection until his passing then all was sold off.) Back to L. Pratt’s collection, interesting story of how her collection assembled. Back in the day (82-83?), Forbe’s collection was touring and both collections combined for VMFA’s special exhibit. 😍
@@MaryCawthorne-ov5qw whoa that would have been amazing!! Hopefully they do it again 😍
I can't believe people still don't know about proper pie. That place is bombtastic. Thanks for showing my city!
@@danielvogel9453 it’s the BEST! Of course. I love it so much 💚💚
The savory pies are tha bomb!
@@illPhil185 for real!!
I had no idea what the Byrd theatre was, thank you!
You’re going to LOVE IT! In my opinion the videos didn’t even do it justice. 😍😍
@@LaurenZRay I can’t wait!! It seems like the perfect place to watch an underrated movie like The Big Lebowski !
@@groundupRVA it truly is! they play that one for sure!
the sarcasm in here is awfully thick lmao
Hey love your videos! I currently live in Greenville, SC and because of my remote job thinking to move up north. Confused between NC (Raleigh Durham areas) or Virginia (Richmond or Charlottesville). Me and my wife are in early 30s and planning to start a family, how's Richmond for a move? Since I work remote, I am looking to area with low cost of living. Thanks
I would definitely research which has a lower cost of living but personally I love Richmond because it has so much going on. I love activities, history, good food, great views, outdoors, architecture, small businesses - and Richmond has all of that! Plus it is central to mountains and beaches.
Also tons of my neighbors have babies and some of my friends - and many people have told me it's a great place to have a family. A lot of people prefer the suburbs like Midlothian etc too, so it really is more about what fits your vibe.
I have friends from Raleigh area and they say that is nice too. I'd definitely visit both and see which speaks to you! Thats what happen with us anyway. Hope this helps! :)
@@LaurenZRay Thanks, will definitely do more research! I lam liking the Richmond vibe, feels very artsy. Me and my wife are history buffs, so Richmond will fascinate us, so is the food scene. We love experiencing outdoors, so that's a plus as well. If I choose Virginia over NC, Richmond is where I will most likely settle I believe.
@@BilalKhan-rh1ei yes it’s a very creative town! Tons of art and of course history. Lots of hikes & trails in town and close by outdoors. ☺️
Paix is a great place. My wife and I have stopped in a couple times.
@@traitken love the vibe in there! I really want to try their new summer drink!
Dude, the green bean and cheese is one of my favorites!! No hatin’ on green bean proper pie! 😂🎉❤
@@thegoldsinno haha it’s still great! But yes, how dare we!!😂
Keep up the good work! Now i have new stuff to do.
@@JoseLinaresTorres thank you so much!! 💚💚
Great video. I’ve been in the museum and made some photographs.
@@cw7422 it’s such a good one!! Thank you!
I mean these are good things to do, but underrated not so much. Here's the real list 5. Hang out with the Regulars in front of Sidewalk Cafe, 4. Beer crawl on the shitty trail (start at City Beach, then walk to the two City Dogs, and finish up at Penny Lane. 3. Swim near the Pipeline Rapids. 2. Ride the pulse to stone brewery, 1. Karaoke (Sticky rice, banditos, gwar bar, Cafe diem. Wherever there is a big Karaoke culture).
Definitely eating at Proper Pie
Thank you!!
@@nestabus yes!! 😍😍
I love proper pie!!! (I live in a nearby county to Richmond)
It’s so good!!
Hells Kitchen and Texas Beach. The Science Museum. Boulevard and Broad. Village Cafe.
@@mntnwzrd66 amazing tips!! Thank you for these 😍
Great video! Thank you for showing me my hometown in a different light. Whenever l go back to visit, l am amazed at how much Richmond has changed. I now live in Madrid and fun fact, the big head at VMFA, one is also in Madrid at the Plaza de Colon. Keep up the great videos. Wonderful quality and information.
That’s so cool! Also I love Madrid. Stayed there for a month last year. 😍💚
@@LaurenZRay Madrid is a wonderful place to live. Keep up the great work and l will be watching your vids more. They are great. I am happy that you call Richmond home.
@@TeacherTrainerMadrid thank you so much for the kind words!! 💚💚
I grew up in Richmond. Lot of cool stuff to do in RVA
That’s awesome! Also, Agreed. It really has so many cool spots! I’m excited for it to get warmer for exploring 😍
So hyped summer is around the corner ☀️
Can’t wait either!!🤌
The Thai butternut curry pie is my favorite! The vegan chicken pot pie sounds really good!
They have the butternut one right now! Haha we just went today. 😜 They also had a breakfast one I had never seen before & it was so good!
@@LaurenZRay yes I just looked up what they have after your video. The blackberry peach cobbler sounds yummy too. I don’t know if they still make soups but they were always really good. Might have to visit this weekend!
@@Hokieashley jealous about the soups! Also yes, totally go & try the vegan brekkie. So good 🤌😍
Hi!! I’m a big fan of your channel and I was wondering, what happened to some of your older videos? I really want to see your review of other places
Hey Tatiana! Thank you so much for your support all these years! 💚 I’ve archived my older videos for a few reasons including changing to focusing more on Virginia only content (algorithm reasons) and also a few personal ones. I’m so sorry if this is annoying & disappointing. Totally understandable! Let me know if there’s any particular video you’d like to see & I can send you private links. ☺️
Thank you so much for responding! And yes, I completely understand your decision!! 😊 If it’s possible, could you send me your review of the Disneyland hotel? I love knowing about all the pros and cons at staying at theme park resort hotels
@@tatibear15 yes! The LA Disneyland hotel? Or Paris or Tokyo? 💚☺️
LA Disneyland hotel pls 💛

Need to stop by Paix! Thanks for the reminder!
Yes!! Try the lemonade espresso if you haven’t already, very unique flavor! 🍋
I never been to Virginia.
Northern Virginia.

If you go, check out Maymont Park and look for the Japanese gardens. It has a waterfall, a cool bridge perfect for pics and stepping stones that kids love because they are above the water. It also has a petting zoo and black bears, eagles, owls and other animals.
I will check out everything!
Yay! Let me know which is your favorite too 😍
I loved the VMFA when I visited!
It’s so cool! I still haven’t seen everything either 😍
