      @@spazemfathemcazemmeleggymi272 Because the unborn child is not capable of expressing any wishes on the subject.
      That's the fundamental difficulty of laws around abortion. Once an unwanted pregnancy occurs, two people have claim to the same organs. The question is whose claim takes precedence: the adult woman who can speak for herself, or the zygote/embryo/fetus who must be spoken for by government.
      My preferred legal standard would be that a woman has the right to stop being pregnant, at any time, for any reason. The zygote/embryo/fetus has an equal right to try and survive the separation process. Then put a bunch of research money into being able to save younger preemies. Right now the record is 21 weeks, one day gestation. To get lower than that, we're going to need to develop artificial womb technology.
      More significantly, let's do everything we can to make unexpected pregnancies rare. Let's also do what we can to avoid unexpected pregnancies becoming unwanted pregnancies. That starts with a great deal more support for pregnant women. And humans in general, really.

    • @nahamston
      @nahamston 2 ปีที่แล้ว +261

      Yes, her body, her choice, her responsibility. A woman has every right to choose wither to spread her legs or not. Choosing to have sex means she should be expected to take full responsibility for carrying the child to term. After the baby is born she can put the child up for adoption if she wants. No one has the right to end the life of another human being.

      I think that the vast majority of people, go from cradle to grave, never questioning the beliefs of whatever culture/family that they are born into.
      "My belief makes me happy. And if I critically examine my belief, I might decide that it's wrong. And that would not make me happy. Therefore, I will interact only with friends and family members who reinforce my preconceived idea, and form an information bubble, comprised solely of sources of news and information which also reenforce my preconceived belief".
      It's not a Liberal or a Conservative thing; it's a human thing.
      If you were raised in a cult, then one day, woke up to reality, realized that all of your friends and family were literally insane, then left the cult, it would be very difficult for you.
      You'd have to cut ties with everyone and everything you'd ever loved, come to terms with the fact that you'd spent your entire life being a sucker, figure out how to make your way in the real world, and form a new support network.
      One comprised of people who ARE in touch with reality. New co-workers, new friends, a new significant-other...
      Eventually you'd probably get married, and start a family of your own, but you'd probably still miss the one you were born into.
      You might reach out to them and try to reason with them, but you'd be lucky if you managed to deprogram even TWO loved ones from your old life.

      The real main objections to voter ID laws is the way Republicans try to implement them. My state of North Carolina now has the law, but only after a legal battle pointing out the unconstitutional nature and obvious biases the original draft of the law had. Before the voter ID law went into effect, you had to pay to get an ID which is in violation of the supreme court's ruling against poll taxing. Now though, a basic non-DMV ID is free. That still has issues attached to it because in order to get it, you have to provide two forms of documentation proving you're a resident of the state, which of course means a lot of poor people (most notably the homeless) can't get one because they don't have any official documentation in their name. This just helps to continue the vicious cycle of keeping them in their place at the bottom of the totem pole.
      The drafters of the original bill also tried to be tricky about what counts as acceptable identification. Fishing and hunting licenses are a-ok, but student ID's from state universities are not. Any American with an inkling of sense can see that obviously Republicans are more likely to have the fishing or hunting license and Democrats are more likely to have the student ID. This element of the bill was later scrapped since its political bias was very blatant, but this is the kind of crap that Republicans repeatedly try in every state they push for voter ID laws.

When you go to vote or register you give them your fingerprint that is free you don't have to pay for that and you can't fake it. Once you and the guy agree to sex, it is now a union, a coupling.. between you and the man.. and anything that comes from that situation, you BOTH have a say in. If you do not agree with that, then do no sleep with men. That is Your Choice.

      Caring a baby to term does not force anyone to stay in motherhood. The waiting list for newborn adoption is long throughout all of society. Adoption has always been the best option for those who refuse to care for others. It’s only recently that children are slaughtered in the womb at such a high number while others remain infertile and long for a child or even pay for random peoples s perm and eggs because there aren’t babies to adopt. 20 days after conception the only choice abortion gives you is to have to spill his blood from his body in order to cut him off from the breath of life he does received through the mother that she makes a choice to deny him of. There are more pro life pregnancy, parenting, women’s health education centers that provide free care that plan parenthood do not provide or even charge for if they do provide. Republicans absolutely support these centers and it’s actually Democrats that stand against the support Republicans have for women and children including tax breaks for those who want to give their money to local pregnant women instead of abortion/birth control in other Countries the way Democrats have used our tax dollars. That’s wrong.
