    Hey Jaime, I realize it’s been a hot minute since we’ve talked. I wanted to give you a HUGE thank you! 🙏🏼 Because of your helpfulness & dedication I’ve succeeded with 2 pairs of mittens & 2 hats for the granddaughter’s. 3 of the scarves in this video for my son, hubby & my dad (WOW, my son’s was a bit tricky due to the yarn I chose). Also 4 of your slouchy hats (one is for myself), my daughter and a couple of friends. I can’t thank you enough! You made this Christmas happen in our family as I’m still very sick and have bronchial pneumonia atm, just to add a cherry 🍒 on top. So I can’t shop unless online & God knows I have enough yarn 🤣 Gotta have a lotta faith & humor to get through it all. I pray you and yours have the BEST OF HOLIDAYS sweetie!! 🥰♥️🥰♥️

    Thanks for the tutorial about the Stitch. I have watch a couple of your videos. You teach well, and move at a good pace that's easy to follow. I understand that you may be a little self-conscious about the use of your thumbs. I personally find it fascinating. I reduced the playback speed in order to see what you were doing. I think the way that you use your thumbs is actually very efficient, and possibly an improvement on the way most of us were taught to crochet. You use your thumbs to actually control the yarn tension as you worki the pull throughs for the crochet stitch. The benefit of using your thumb like that is that possibly, you reduce the amount of work that your other fingers are doing. The upside of this is that by spreading out the work amongst more groups of muscles, I think, that you're less likely to strain, and develop repetitive motion problems in your hands. I'm not any kind of medical person. That's just my thought about it. The other thought I have is that perhaps you could teach people how to crochet in that way. If one has developed repetitive problems, or even another condition like arthritis, learning a different way of crocheting might allow people to start crocheting. those conditions have led people to give up the hobby because of problems with their fingers and hands. Anyway just a few thoughts. I'm actually going to try doing it your way. The more options the better. Anyway, I hope that helps. We're all unique.

      @creationsmisfit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much!! This was such a kind message to receive and you're absolutely right. I can crochet for 12 hours at a time and never feel any strain in my hand or wrist. When I try to do it without my thumb, I feel an extra strain in a short period of time. Maybe I started subconsciously using my thumb to navigate away from that. Thank you so much for the insight and sweet words. I'm so happy you are enjoying my tutorials! 🥰

    I must have missed the part that mentioned his many rows or inches wide.
    One more thing, its easier when working your first row to work in back bump.

    • @creationsmisfit
      @creationsmisfit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, each row is shown on the tutorial, so after that the scarf is finished. I just did a small sample, but in the beginning I talked about how many chains for length, which is ultimately up to you. I did 160 for mine. And yes, sometimes I go into the back bump, but this was one of my first videos and I wanted to make it as easy as possible for myself and those watching. Beginners sometimes have trouble with the back bump. Thank you for watching!
