    I really appreciate the fact that you show us things like this that will help us out!
    I already have a pump I got off Amazon. It fits my 5gal bottles! So, I
    Can appreciate the convenience of these
    Pumps. Mine fits the smaller size 5 gal jugs but I can also use it on the 5 gal jug that is a
    Just alittle bigger!
    There is no repairs for
    This water pump & it is
    Also USB chargeable.
    Good to know about the one Tristzn has! I always appreciate his
    Sharing products to help us on our way!
    Thanks again Tristan!

    Thanks for sharing. My trick for 2-3 g water cooler type jug (with a gravity spigot permanently at the bottom) is to fill it with ice and top off with whatever water can fit. Relatively easy, because the whole top opens up, so easy to pour ice in.The luxury of icy icy cold water for many days...:) my water jug is an igloo, so lightly insulated. Another idea i saw was adding a sprayer type feature on a hose, for cleaning feet on your way in, spraying off puppies, etc. As always, thanks for sharing in good detail :)

    I just did the same project about a month ago, using a Reliance 7 gallon aquatainer. I had a dual-threaded hose/pipe adapter from the sprinkler section at the hardware store that I was able to thread into the reliance cap, and then thread it onto the rechargeable water spigot. I didn't need to cut the original spigot. Well done!

    Great solution for age old cumbersome problem. Your pump selection was great 👍 quantity dispensing for cooking those freeze dried dinners is great! I think your right about the hot glue not that effective, I have never had much success with hot glue on plastic even if I ruff up the surface. I think having it removable is a plus for filling and cleaning. Thanks for the mid-week video!

    Very clever approach to the drinking water problem. I have ended up just carrying a ton of water bottles, I think typically 5 or 6 BPA free large bottles at a time. Only two of those I actually carry on hikes, the other are for extra drinking water. Then when I need more water I fill up a lot of different containers at the same time. This works pretty good for my current vehicle that has a bunch of side pockets on the doors that aren't really needed for anything else, whereas floorspace is a premium (for a collection of shoes). My van however does have a sink for hand and dish washing. I do agree on the water jug size! 5 gallons are quite heavy to lug around.

    As an avid SUV/Teardrop Camper/Cabin life enthusiast, this is a great hack! At the cabin I have a water jug that I pour water into from one of those combersome blue jugs so if I need a small amount of water I'm set to go. Having a rechargeable pump on hand will make dispensing small quantities that much easier. Perhaps one should be cautious of leaving it unattended. There's a few reviews stating that it would come one by itself. That could be disastrous in your vehicle or quite serious if you lose all your drinking water.

    I've been using a pretty similar setup. What I do instead is I took a 2 inch to 1.5 inch rubber adapter, which fits very tightly over the threads of the Reliance jug, and I put the faucet over that. Doubt it'll hold when offroading, but I don't have it set up while driving.
    Actually posted it on the budget overland Facebook page a week or so ago under my actual name and not my middle name that I use on TH-cam, so for a second I thought you got the idea from that post haha

    If you ever have trouble getting all the water out of the jug cos the tube doesn't sink where you want it to, I suggest cutting a small pipe the length of the jug put on the inside to rigidly direct the tube where you want it to go. I've seen many different iterations of this. Thanks for the video on how to put something like this together, I might try it in the future if I get the spare change

  • @jwagnermail
    @jwagnermail ปีที่แล้ว

    The only improvement I can think of to your water pump would be to figure out how to mount it onto the side of the jug, instead of the top. The top mount is simple, but I think it will get knocked off often because it is unsupported. You came up with a good solution though, the bungie cords allow the top to take an accidental hit and not go flying off into the dirt.
    I would be looking at ways to mount the pump onto the side of the jug. This would probably require fabricating a bracket that would hold the pump securely to the side. Maybe SS bolts holding a plastic bracket made from some PVC pipe. The water inlet can be drilled into the side of the jug, allowing the cap of the jug to still work as intended.

    Question: how well does the faucet handle being in the car on a hot day? I live in So Cal so a chunk of my trips are desert areas.

    I’ve bought 2 of those pumps with the same idea but they either didn’t work right out if the box or worked at home and once I got put on a trip failed to work again so I’ve given up on these. I ended up getting a usb shower that has a button to turn it on and off outside the water container. I can take off the shower head and it flows through the hose. I keep the 4 gallon water jugs in the cab of my truck in the back and I put the hose out through the window. I then have a shower option as well. I wish the usb pumps I bought had worked as advertised so keep us updated on how long this pump lasts.

      @livinglike_lisa7954 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know how to do links on TH-cam but the brand is AZXJC. I picked this one because the pump fit inside the jug and it had a remote starter so you don’t need to pull it out every time to use it. The shower head screws off and you can use just the tube. You need to hit the button twice for it to stop for some reason.

    thanks for the video Tristan! good notion with the bungies, but consider that plumbers use some sort of a cement/glue thing to glue together two PVC pipes, so that would be an application that is neither hot glue nor bungies, and it designed to keep friction-fitted pipes stuck together. I've gone ahead and built a powered water dispenser out of a Jerry can and a submersed pump (about $200 in materials alone) last year. Works great but I'll be building this and retiring the jerry can (too heavy/bulky) [that inspiration was th-cam.com/video/HU5wpRgLOU4/w-d-xo.html] in favor of the smaller jug with a spigot (vs a garden hose).

    Just use the glue used for PVC pipe and you're good to go.

    I assume the pump needs to be recharged. I like the spigot method but, of course the jug needs to be elevated which is easily created. It’s a neat gadget but unnecessary.
