Regionalizing divisions will cut back on fan investment. A Houston Texans fan not only tunes into Houston games but may take some interest in Dallas Cowboys games. Both teams are from the same state and they're not considered rivals, much a lot of times results in a fan still carrying about the performance of both teams. By caring for both teams they also care about a wider range of divisional opponents. This creates more familiarity with a wider base. Come playoff time the fan is less likely to check out whether two teams are out because they're familiarity with a larger number of teams.
You know I spent some time thinking about it and I do not understand this point of view. The NFL is a mainstream league, they do not profit from a casual viewer who MAY tune into an extra playoff game of a nearby team. Regionalizing increases monetary gains from fans who would be more willing to pay higher ticket prices because their travel costs are cheaper. Also, the Cowboys/Texans argument seems pretty specific as they are one of the few in-state duos who aren’t rivals in some capacity.

The issue is that they would have to COMPETE with the Crimson Tide instead of benefiting from them. They’d also have to compete with the already established Birmingham Stallions in the UFL.
The CFL would never allow the Teams of the CFL merge into the NFL, to make the NFL better. The CFL would just say have a nice day. But The NFL could place Teams in Portland, Oregon, Birmingham,Alabama, Omaha, Nebraska, and Salt Lake City, Utah. These 4 Cities don’t have NFL Teams, and would have a better chance of getting the League more across the US map. Forget San Diego, North & South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, not enough people. Iowa, New Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine. All because they don’t have enough people. But, You could relocate some Teams to areas with potential and population, just move some Teams to other places. Florida and California both have more than one Team. Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania all have 2 Teams. Spread the Teams around for Everyone to get a Team. Just a crazy thought idea for some People who have to travel far just to see Their Teams.

Now, like the days of old, the redskins will be brought to Oklahoma. Gatorades new state of the art trail of tears stadium... redskins, Oklahoma, it just makes since". Lol
I can agree to that, as I said in the video removing the team with a copycat name was just a move of convenience, and there was for sure better ways to remove 1 team with more respect to the history of the CFL
1. NO to expanding to St Louis. They FAILED to support (and lost) TWO separate teams: the Cardinals and the Rams. If another Mississippi River area city is desired, perhaps Memphis would be a better bet than St Louis (???) -- and it would create a natural cross-state rivalry with the TN Titans. 2. NOT SURE about whether Portland, OR would support an NFL franchise (especially through thick and thin) ??? -- but it would form a natural rivalry with Seattle and, to a lesser extent, Northern CA / San Francisco (especially now that the Raiders have left Oakland) 3. San Antonio might work -- a huge metropolitan area within football-crazed Texas. Also, both FL and CA have 3 teams each as well. 4. NOT SURE about OK City either ... an NFL team there MIGHT come at the expense of support for OU college football ??? 5. NOT SURE about the viability of an NFL merger with (assimilation of) the CFL. Canadian football is different somewhat, the people are rightly proud of their game, and belonging to the NFL would instantaneously drive DRASTICALLY HIGHER COSTS (salaries, operating expenses, ticket prices, merchandise, etc.) that I'm NOT SURE Canadians would embrace or support. SOME Golden Horseshoe area Canadians do indeed have Bills season tickets and attend most games -- BUT MOST Canadians who attend Bills games (and endure the border crossing hassle) do so as a "special" venture just a few times per season (and some just once per season) because ticket and parking prices alone (i.e., not including food/snacks, beverages, souvenirs, etc.) to an NFL game are NOT INEXPENSIVE -- especially for a family outing of parents and a couple of kids. So I'm not sure if -- economically speaking -- enough Canadian families would be able or willing to trade in their CFL team support experiences for a significantly more costly NFL one with the same frequency ??? I would think that it would be a much greater challenge in cities other than the largest cities in Canada such as Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. 6. "IF" there is ever going to be an "assimilation" of the CFL into the NFL, there would be a SIGNIFICANT problem with having three teams within 120 miles of each other on the Niagara Frontier -- Buffalo, Hamilton, and Toronto (not to mention the indemnification costs Buffalo would be owed for placing another franchise [or two] in direct competition with it so close within its economic sphere). I believe such an arrangement would cause at least one team to fail financially -- probably Hamilton (caught in the middle between Buffalo and Toronto). But having even 1 new team that geographically close to SMALL-MARKET Buffalo would definitely HURT Buffalo financially (a doubly important consideration now because the Bills are building a massively expensive new stadium whose costs will have to be paid off as well -- unlike their present stadium which is debt-free) because the Bills draw MANY Canadian fans from Toronto, Hamilton, and the Niagara Peninsula. Such being the case, IF one CFL team would be dropped to make for an even "8" Canadian expansion teams, it might make better sense to fold the Hamilton Tiger Cats to create/ensure a little space between Buffalo and Toronto (although I'm sure Tiger Cat fans will NOT like losing their team), and preserve the BC Lions thereby setting up another natural cross-border rivalry between Seattle and Vancouver the same way there would be one between Buffalo and Toronto (maybe have BC change their name to the Lynx, the Cougars, the Cats, etc. so as to not be confused with Detroit ... although for many years the CFL had TWO "Roughriders" teams -- Saskatchewan and Ottawa [before the Ottawa Roughriders folded and a new team eventually arose in Ottawa called the present-day RedBlacks], so it's not completely unheard of that two franchises might have the same team name/mascot). With 8 Canadian teams bringing the NFL to an even 40 teams, there would then be 20 teams in each conference (American and National) ... which could result in making 4 divisions of 5 teams each per conference, and maybe expanding the playoffs to 10 teams per conference (the 4 division winners plus the top 2 next teams not winning a division qualify for a bye week to start the playoffs, and the Wild card round consists of teams # 7 through #10 of the conference; the two winners of the 4 teams in each conference playing during Wild Card weekend then get added to the 6 bye week teams for an 8-team second round bracket in each conference (#1 plays #8, #2 plays #7, and so forth). 7. Better yet, if there is a genuine desire to "expand" the NFL to 40 teams (which I think would be its bursting point because a larger league would simply be too unwieldy), at least in the short term it makes MUCH MORE SENSE to do so very cautiously, especially if we're talking about internationally. As such, I think it would make much more sense to do so with only 1 or at most 2 teams from Canada -- at least for an initial decade or two -- to see just how viable the support would be long-term. Also, doing it that way would be less offensive to Canadians because it would NOT mean destroying their independent CFL and merely adding an NFL franchise as an additional option to support. As such, the singular city that makes the most sense would be Toronto -- Canada's largest city with a population and corporate base more than large enough to support both a CFL and NFL team (of course, an NFL team in Toronto WOULD threaten small-market Buffalo economically and would require indemnification). It would be a real shame if the NFL's desire to expand internationally, starting first with a Canadian franchise in Toronto, would ultimately lead to the economic failure and relocation of the Buffalo Bills with its TERRIFIC fan base. "IF" market studies show that Seattle also has a large Canadian fan base supporting the Seahawks, then I would also consider placing a second Canadian NFL franchise in Vancouver (but no more than 2 Canadian teams to start) ... and that, too, would raise indemnification issues because of the proximity to Seattle's exclusive rights zone. Next, since the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars loves going to London so much, I think it MIGHT be worth exploring having a "split" franchise between Jacksonville and London to start. Maybe the first half of the season would be London-based games, and the second half of the season (when the weather cools and hurricane season ends in FL) could be Jacksonville-based. The risk, of course, is that IF the Jaguars are non-competitive at the half-way point of the season, it might be hard to generate fan support restarting in Jacksonville for a losing team.
Absolutely not!!! The NFL will want us to change The CFL . our field size will need to be smaller . Thety'll want us to go to four downs. wNFL will want us to get rid of the extra man on the field go from 12 to 11. they'll want us to take NFL rules in general that's what makes the CFL unique is our rule set. And big brother will want to take it all away no thank you!!!
Dude Vancouver has metro population of 3millian to Hamilton's 800,000 My solution here is to add Toronto,Montreal,Vancouver, and Edmonton. Add new CFL teams in VictoriaB.C,London On.,Quebec City,Halifax, and St.John NF.
@FranchiseTagged nah not hating. I liked the video and liked the idea. Oddly enough back in the 90s the CFL had 2 rough riders. Saskatchewan and ottawa. Lol. Why can't the NFL have 2 lions? Lol Anyways good video and keep up the good work. 😀

Or 1week in Europe and 1 week in the USA .? As a Frequent Flyer I know the Jetlags You have lower recreationtime.than a US based team. Sorry it will be a bad Idea. TV times are a mess its a minimum of 6 hours to europe 1 pm eastern time is 7 pm MESZ. Thats O.K.but the second Timeslot 4 25 Is 10 25 pm in europe,or will you see a game at 7am eastern in the US ?
If they want to do Europe, create a separate European league. with a eurpoean superbowl. North American champ plays the European champ for title of best team in the world.
I think this would be too similar to the euro league of the past and would fail for similar reasons. With NFL matchups every week there would be way more viewership than in a league of its own.

Your funny, delusional thoughts. The nfl has been in talks before about joining the nfl and only 3 cities in Canada and the 3 are Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto but the biggest problem is the CFL has one of the biggest historical history as a league and goes way back and the NFL doesn’t want to be responsible for dismantling the league and that’s why they didn’t join. If you don’t believe me then do a research and p.s the reason why the 3 cities in Canada is because of the money and size and if you look at the other city’s they will not be able to afford with what sponsors
People always text about placing a NFL Team in Canada, but it’s not going to happen, for one Main Reason, The CFL, doesn’t want any NFL Teams permanently playing in Canada.
Won't happen cuz that was already said he won't go to Canada as long as the CFL is in Toronto and Vancouver it's one of those teams should fold then it's possible. But both are owned by large corporations the Argos are owned by Maple Leaf Sports entertainment. Well the lions are owned privately and has Deep Pockets

Now, like the days of old, the redskins will be brought to Oklahoma. Gatorades new state of the art trail of tears stadium... redskins, Oklahoma, it just makes since". Lol
That introductory promo to the team would be hilarious omg
I’d love to see the nfl have two Canadian teams, Vancouver and Toronto. If it wasn’t for the sorry cfl this might have happened already
yeah the nfl should expand to Mexico largest fan base outside of us
Mexico and Canada each getting two teams would be fun to see
Portland, San Antonio, Birmingham, St. Louis, Hampton Roads, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, and Toronto.
Sacrificing a team in Vancouver is a horrible idea. Vancouver is a way better market than Hamilton. Just change the Lions name there
I can agree to that, as I said in the video removing the team with a copycat name was just a move of convenience, and there was for sure better ways to remove 1 team with more respect to the history of the CFL
-- but it would form a natural rivalry with Seattle and, to a lesser extent, Northern CA / San Francisco (especially now that the Raiders have left Oakland)
The falcons share a stadium with atlanta united, so theres alr a team that shares with soccer so its def possible
Dude Vancouver has metro population of 3millian to Hamilton's 800,000 My solution here is to add Toronto,Montreal,Vancouver, and Edmonton. Add new CFL teams in VictoriaB.C,London On.,Quebec City,Halifax, and St.John NF.
i like the cfl merger except drop the Roughriders and include BC but change the name to the "Vancouver Cougars"
Saint louis, orlando, san antonio, memphis, birmingham, salt lake city, mexico city(2 teams maybe), portland, sactamento, san diego, omaha and okc
Utah has been the fastest growing state since 2010. The wasatch front metro area has 2.6 million people and growing larger every year.
when the NFL had created European league, they should have NFL teams play against them to build up more interests.
I think even South Carolina could get a team
How About The San Antonio Oilers
I think that the Texans and the Titans would have some words for you
The Titans are the oilers. The Titans even wear oiler jerseys for their throwback uniforms and the Texans are not happy about it
I did have to laugh a bit at the "disposal" of the BC Loins. Yeah sure turf the team from Vancouver... Canadas 2nd largest market. Lol.
I’m a dumb American, I simply didn’t like there being 2 “Lions” teams 🤷🏻♂️
@FranchiseTagged nah not hating. I liked the video and liked the idea. Oddly enough back in the 90s the CFL had 2 rough riders. Saskatchewan and ottawa. Lol. Why can't the NFL have 2 lions? Lol
Anyways good video and keep up the good work. 😀
As a european it will be niceto have a NFL Team(s), but I remember the World League of American Football.A League that Had 10 Teams.3 Teams in Europe (London , Frankfurt, Barcelona.) 1 in Canada ( Montreal) and 6 in the USA ( Orlando , Birmingham Sacramento,San Antonio,New Jersey.and Raleigh Durham) The logistic was a great mess and mayhem.Sacramento fly for a Game in Frankfurt through 9 timezones. The european Team are 4 weeks to play abroad in North America Which Player will Play in a country where great language barrier is?!A Division with only 4 Teams are much to Low .Every Team have 6 Games in Europe, and then? they Go abroad to US 5 or 6 Weeks( When a european Division added by NFL you will be have 20-24 gamedays)Where do the Teams make practice?
In my opinion, Salt Lake looks like it's gearing up for an NFL franchise
I think this would be too similar to the euro league of the past and would fail for similar reasons. With NFL matchups every week there would be way more viewership than in a league of its own.
@@FranchiseTagged But the travel would be a major problem, which probably can't be overcome. Having just few teams in Europe that have to fly back and forth would at a major disadvantage.
They tried that twice it failed
It was called NFL Europa. Kurt Warner and a few others played in it. It was actually somewhat popular in Germany but failed elsewhere. But Germany does have an American football league
good video
Banger comment
There will be no teams over sea, just here in USA maybe Canada and or Mexico but that's it sorry to tell you this.
Thanks for being sorry
Norfolk natives or Roanoke rebels
Bro even it out man new Mexico, Portland, Boise Idaho, billings Montana
That league team chart with half the NFC being shifted from the AFC, is not gonna happen….the league was re-alighted years ago
It has been 22 years since a re-alignment, and in that time the NFL has had extreme growth during that time, I feel that it’s enough time for a new alignment.
Hey, Fun!
It’s perfect right now leave it alone
We agree, but realistically money will always be motivator for the NFL and they will seek to expand revenue, this was just a fun hypothetical while NFL news is extremely slow
Sorry, the NFL will eventually expand again. The money is too much to ignore.
They need to bring excitement back to the NFL. Expansion teams will never do this. NFL ratings have been dropping and dropping.
How would you bring excitement back?
Also I disagree, it seems every season there’s a new record for viewership made
They should split the Carolinas, also side note but if they do expand I’d like the Carolinas to change their name/logo, the panthers is kinda boring and doesn’t have much to do with their region. Commanders is also lame.
Commanders for sure need to rebrand again, and renovate the stadium.
Shreveport louisiana has a stadium 50 cent can help bring a team there
Montreal!!!*
NAH ROCHESTER, CANANDAIGUA, GENEVA, GREECE, AND FAIRPORT DEFINITELY NEEDS A NFL TEAM CAUSE IT'LL MAKE MORE SENSE ATP SINCE NONE OF THESE CITIES HAVE A PRO SPORTS TEAM DUH LOL 💯.
Preach. Also fuck the packers - the lions fan
@@FranchiseTagged OH REALLY, AND YO YOU SAID WHATT ABOUT MY TEAM OK YOU DORK 🤣.
@@FranchiseTagged BUT I'M NGL WITH ALL DUE TO RESPECT BRO THE LIONS ARE UNDERRATED IMO, AS MUCH AS I DON'T LIKE MY DIVISION TEAM WHICH IS YOU GUYS, THE VIKINGS AND THE BEARS OFC, I REALLY HATE AND CAN'T STAND THE 49ERS MOREE FOR A REASON EVEN THOUGH 💯, AND WAS PERSONALLY HOPING THAT YOU GUYS WOULD'VE WON AGAINST THEM IN THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP🏆LAST SEASON LMAO.
@@FranchiseTaggedBTW I DO LIKE JARED GOFF, JAMAL WILLIAMS, AND AIDAN HUTCHINSON THO 💯.
World League of American Football and Nfl Europe were complete fails
NFL should NOT EXPAND- just going to dilute the product- hope it doesn't happen- and PLEASE don't go international- LOGISTICS???? pain in the ass for ALL involved
With how this season is going, the product feels plenty diluted. But yes, logistically, overseas expansion is a nightmare.
Oklahoma does not deserve a nfl team and a basketball team that basketball team belongs to the sonics
Can't go global calling your sport "football" especially in England. Need to change the name.
“Gridiron football” is what they call it in other smaller leagues, I’d imagine a similar name change would be necessary across the board.
I have a football podcast. I would love for you to be a gurst on my show
Portland will never get a team
I wouldn't say that just yet. Anything is possible.
no football culture there just expats from europe in a "trendy city"
It’s long past due for the NFL to go to 🇨🇦. Vancouver & Toronto would be the major targets up north.
Facts, give the NFC North more pseudo rivals to pick on.
Okay, here me out --
* NFL absorbs the Canadian League
* Reduces them from nine teams, to eight
* Each division gets a Canadian team, ensuring that all teams must travel north
