    Holmes is the 1st GM I've seen that truly follows the draft ideology of drafting the best football player, regardless of position. At least for the most part. Obviously they had a huge need in the secondary this draft, and thats where he went early. But they were both very good players at their pick.

    • @FranchiseTagged
      @FranchiseTagged วันที่ผ่านมา

      We were both big fans of Terrion and felt like Rake was a borderline round 1 guy going into this draft so for them to come out with both was really cool to see for sure, Brad is definitely the goat of drafting in recent years.

    Need to swap a Great Lakes and Canada divisions between conferences so each has simply a Great Lakes division and a Canada division. Some rivalries are too iconic to break up. Eagles fans traditionally loathe the Cowboys. Yet I seem to recall the Cowboys consider the G-men to be their biggest rival. Under his alignment these teams might not meet every year. Send the Colts to the NE and TitansSouth. On the other hand the schedule works out better for a 17 game schedule: Divisional games 3 X 2 = 6 1 game with each team in another division within the conference 1 X 4 = 4 1 game with each team in another division within the other conference 1 X 4 = 4 1 game v 1 team within the remaining divisions of the same conference 1 X 3 = 3 ………………………………………………………………………………………………….. total ….. 17

      @FranchiseTagged วันที่ผ่านมา

      I didn’t even consider the math of the scheduling, so seeing this is pretty cool. Goes to show that the NFL can definitely expand without “ruining the game” as a lot of people seem to think these days

    The number one reason is Sheila Ford Hamp deciding to clean house. The number two reason is hiring Chris Spielman to advise her on coaching changes. She also got a new GM and scouting staff. Three they got the trades and drafts they wanted. Also Dan Campbell and Chris Spielman are former Lions. Though Campbell only spent two years here unfortunately one of those years was the 0-16 year. Let someone experience crap management and coaching and they'll not allow it around themselves again. Their decision to completely build the offense around Jared Goff's capabilities and put together an immensely talented O-line to give Jared the time to hit the receivers are the reasons they are this successful. Drafting Gibbs and Branch was big. Also the trades and drafts for defensive and offensive personnel has worked out far better than what we hoped.

    I was born IN DETROIT; 1967. Until Barry Sanders in 1989, I literally have 0 memories of the Lions at all barring 1981 and an OT loss to the Chicago Bears 🐻. So they have been completely irrelevant my entire life until the last 3 seasons. I compare them to two very special eras/dynasties: The 1969-79 Steelers who were coached by Chuck Noll and were built as champions exclusively from the draft. Noll completely flipped the script from their first 35-40 years in the NFL! My second choice are the 49ers from 1979-89. In all my days…I can only think of the 49ers offense in late 80’s early 90’s being like Detroit is now. Detroit is playing so superior football to every other team; in all aspects of the game and position even to kicking! It is mind blowing how good they are. This demonstration is once in an era/decade to 12-15 years. They must become a 3-5 super bowl winner to be the Steelers or 49ers if they want be remembered as great. I nearly came to tears watching the Rams playoff game, let alone Tampa! They should be ranked one and two, the next team at 3 are the Bills! I hope they meet in Super Bowl!

Through Bill Munson and Milt Plum and Marty Morningwheg and William and Martha .. and finally Sheila. And when we sent Aaron Rodgers to his early retirement in the last game of '22 (though he didn't realize it) and were denied a playoff berth our ascent to being the best team in the NFL had firmly begun.

    As a Jets fan, I really admire what the Lions have done. The Jets hired Saleh at the same time as the Lions hired Dan Campbell. I still remember how the majority of the league thought that Saleh was a far superior hire to Campbell. Which just goes to prove: don’t believe the so-called “experts”. Especially since the Lions and Jets are in different conferences and rarely compete directly, I’m rooting for the Lions this year. If any franchise is as cursed as the Jets - at least prior to the last couple of years - the Lions have gotta be pretty close. I hope that the Lions win the Super Bowl this year. Like the long-suffering fans of the Jets, the Lions’ fan base deserves all of their current success. Hope they can get over the hump this season. I can only hope that the Jets can replicate the way the Lions built and improved their team. I doubt Ben Johnson would come to the Jets, but maybe Aaron Glenn (a former great Jets player) just might.

    • @FranchiseTagged
      @FranchiseTagged 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      With how hands on the owner is getting, it would seem he really wants to foster change in the building, but as I touched on in the video, it’s gotta be organization wide, Aaron Glenn would be a great kick start to a new culture, but unless he is paired with a savvy GM, it could continue the trend that the Jets and Lions have dealt with majority of their existence, mediocrity. P.S. The other host wants nothing more than for the jets to burn

    • @stevenjames1138
      @stevenjames1138 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ A lot of people dunk on Woody, and I agree that he can be too meddlesome, but at least he cares. He thinks like a fan. And I think if you know that the people you hired (Saleh and Joe D) aren’t ever going to succeed, then change is good. Of course, change could end up being better or worse, but it’s literal insanity to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. So, yes, of course the Jets need a good GM too and he needs to be completely in sync and unified with the HC. I just don’t comment much on GM because I don’t know enough about potential candidates. Maybe Ray Agnew? As for your cohost, I’ll do my best not to hold his allegiance against him or this channel. (The feeling is mutual anyway.) At least we both hate the Dolphins, right? Or is that just Jets fans? Besides, his team has had enough success in general (and specifically against the Jets) to last a lifetime! So, he needs to wallow in the misery and embrace the suck just like most of the rest of the league. At least the Pats finally (likely) found their franchise QB in Drake Maye. BTW, I think you’re better off doing more videos on the Jets rather than the Pats. They’re not relevant anymore and probably still one of the least likable teams in the NFL, besides the Cowboys. Jets are unlikable too, but at least they’re a big market team and always (unfortunately) full of drama. Who knows? Maybe Belichick will go to the Jets! Doubt that would even happen, but that would sure be funny. Personally, if I were the Jets owner, I’d hire him only to fire him 24 hours later using a napkin. Yup. We (older) Jets fans are still a bit salty about that.

    • @FranchiseTagged
      @FranchiseTagged 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cohost here, I’m a patriots fan, but more than that I’m a fan of good football so as much as I may love seeing the Jets crash and burn, it would be nicer to see them do so with a quality football team. To a certain extent I also feel bad for jets fans who have to live through this, not just the faults of the current team but seeing Geno and Sam Darnold both put up respectable seasons in different systems. My team has absolutely had enough success which is why I haven’t been complaining too much about the suck (outside of wishing Mac Jones was better for a year or 2). I agree about Drake Maye, he’s the future and I just hope we can build around him with the right pieces this offseason, make the right picks in the draft and such. As for making a video on the Jets, we may just have to do that. And yes, F the dolphins.

    I would love to see an European Expansion, inviting the best "soccer teams" in Europe to have their Championship of American Football. The Sport is already quite popular in Germany and England and if the main European Soccer teams agreed to join the competition, it would be a success. A Bayern Munchen fan, a Real Madrid or Barcelona, or Juventus or Milan fans would certainly welcome a competition in which all these teams wouls be represented. Just for simulation purpose, imagine if 32 european teams would be involved in such a tournament: Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munchen, Liverpool, Roma, PSG, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Inter, Villarreal, Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United, Barcelona, Benfica, FC Porto, Atletico Madfrid, RB Leipzig, West Ham, Atalanta, Arsenal, Juventus, Milan, Ajax Napoli, Club Brugge, Lazio, Eintracht Frankfurt, Sevilla, Rangers, Feyenoord, Real Sociedad, PSV (these 32 teams are ordered here according to their current UEFA Ranking...). If there was an association of NFL and these teams, what a successful Championship it would be ! Remember, in order to have success with an Euro League you must have the right european teams playimg....

    1. NO to expanding to St Louis. They FAILED to support (and lost) TWO separate teams: the Cardinals and the Rams. If another Mississippi River area city is desired, perhaps Memphis would be a better bet than St Louis (???) -- and it would create a natural cross-state rivalry with the TN Titans. 2. NOT SURE about whether Portland, OR would support an NFL franchise (especially through thick and thin) ??? -- but it would form a natural rivalry with Seattle and, to a lesser extent, Northern CA / San Francisco (especially now that the Raiders have left Oakland) 3. San Antonio might work -- a huge metropolitan area within football-crazed Texas. Also, both FL and CA have 3 teams each as well. 4. NOT SURE about OK City either ... an NFL team there MIGHT come at the expense of support for OU college football ??? 5. NOT SURE about the viability of an NFL merger with (assimilation of) the CFL. Canadian football is different somewhat, the people are rightly proud of their game, and belonging to the NFL would instantaneously drive DRASTICALLY HIGHER COSTS (salaries, operating expenses, ticket prices, merchandise, etc.) that I'm NOT SURE Canadians would embrace or support. SOME Golden Horseshoe area Canadians do indeed have Bills season tickets and attend most games -- BUT MOST Canadians who attend Bills games (and endure the border crossing hassle) do so as a "special" venture just a few times per season (and some just once per season) because ticket and parking prices alone (i.e., not including food/snacks, beverages, souvenirs, etc.) to an NFL game are NOT INEXPENSIVE -- especially for a family outing of parents and a couple of kids. So I'm not sure if -- economically speaking -- enough Canadian families would be able or willing to trade in their CFL team support experiences for a significantly more costly NFL one with the same frequency ??? I would think that it would be a much greater challenge in cities other than the largest cities in Canada such as Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. 6. "IF" there is ever going to be an "assimilation" of the CFL into the NFL, there would be a SIGNIFICANT problem with having three teams within 120 miles of each other on the Niagara Frontier -- Buffalo, Hamilton, and Toronto (not to mention the indemnification costs Buffalo would be owed for placing another franchise [or two] in direct competition with it so close within its economic sphere). I believe such an arrangement would cause at least one team to fail financially -- probably Hamilton (caught in the middle between Buffalo and Toronto). But having even 1 new team that geographically close to SMALL-MARKET Buffalo would definitely HURT Buffalo financially (a doubly important consideration now because the Bills are building a massively expensive new stadium whose costs will have to be paid off as well -- unlike their present stadium which is debt-free) because the Bills draw MANY Canadian fans from Toronto, Hamilton, and the Niagara Peninsula. Such being the case, IF one CFL team would be dropped to make for an even "8" Canadian expansion teams, it might make better sense to fold the Hamilton Tiger Cats to create/ensure a little space between Buffalo and Toronto (although I'm sure Tiger Cat fans will NOT like losing their team), and preserve the BC Lions thereby setting up another natural cross-border rivalry between Seattle and Vancouver the same way there would be one between Buffalo and Toronto (maybe have BC change their name to the Lynx, the Cougars, the Cats, etc. so as to not be confused with Detroit ... although for many years the CFL had TWO "Roughriders" teams -- Saskatchewan and Ottawa [before the Ottawa Roughriders folded and a new team eventually arose in Ottawa called the present-day RedBlacks], so it's not completely unheard of that two franchises might have the same team name/mascot). With 8 Canadian teams bringing the NFL to an even 40 teams, there would then be 20 teams in each conference (American and National) ... which could result in making 4 divisions of 5 teams each per conference, and maybe expanding the playoffs to 10 teams per conference (the 4 division winners plus the top 2 next teams not winning a division qualify for a bye week to start the playoffs, and the Wild card round consists of teams # 7 through #10 of the conference; the two winners of the 4 teams in each conference playing during Wild Card weekend then get added to the 6 bye week teams for an 8-team second round bracket in each conference (#1 plays #8, #2 plays #7, and so forth). 7. Better yet, if there is a genuine desire to "expand" the NFL to 40 teams (which I think would be its bursting point because a larger league would simply be too unwieldy), at least in the short term it makes MUCH MORE SENSE to do so very cautiously, especially if we're talking about internationally. As such, I think it would make much more sense to do so with only 1 or at most 2 teams from Canada -- at least for an initial decade or two -- to see just how viable the support would be long-term. Also, doing it that way would be less offensive to Canadians because it would NOT mean destroying their independent CFL and merely adding an NFL franchise as an additional option to support. As such,the singular city that makes the most sense would be Toronto -- Canada's largest city with a population and corporate base more than large enough to support both a CFL and NFL team (of course, an NFL team in Toronto WOULD threaten small-market Buffalo economically and would require indemnification). It would be a real shame if the NFL's desire to expand internationally, starting first with a Canadian franchise in Toronto, would ultimately lead to the economic failure and relocation of the Buffalo Bills with its TERRIFIC fan base. "IF" market studies show that Seattle also has a large Canadian fan base supporting the Seahawks, then I would also consider placing a second Canadian NFL franchise in Vancouver (but no more than 2 Canadian teams to start) ... and that, too, would raise indemnification issues because of the proximity to Seattle's exclusive rights zone. Next, since the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars loves going to London so much, I think it MIGHT be worth exploring having a "split" franchise between Jacksonville and London to start. Maybe the first half of the season would be London-based games, and the second half of the season (when the weather cools and hurricane season ends in FL) could be Jacksonville-based. The risk, of course, is that IF the Jaguars are non-competitive at the half-way point of the season, it might be hard to generate fan support restarting in Jacksonville for a losing team.

      @FranchiseTagged nah not hating. I liked the video and liked the idea. Oddly enough back in the 90s the CFL had 2 rough riders. Saskatchewan and ottawa. Lol. Why can't the NFL have 2 lions? Lol Anyways good video and keep up the good work. 😀

    That league team chart with half the NFC being shifted from the AFC, is not gonna happen….the league was re-alighted years ago

      It has been 22 years since a re-alignment, and in that time the NFL has had extreme growth during that time, I feel that it’s enough time for a new alignment.

    The answer to the question : It's the same future. KOC had painted himself into a corner by proclaiming that JJ is their future QB. So if by some amazing circumstance, Sam leads the Vikings to a SuperBowl win, KOC will have to let him go and stick to his guns about McCarthy. Otherwise, he'd be viewed as a liar.

    • @FranchiseTagged
      @FranchiseTagged หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be fair, it’s the GMs decision on if to shill out money or not to, so if Sam Darnold plays at an MVP level and gets a large extension, it doesn’t make KOC a liar to start him over JJ

    NFL should NOT EXPAND- just going to dilute the product- hope it doesn't happen- and PLEASE don't go international- LOGISTICS???? pain in the ass for ALL involved

    Russ has a better arm. If you want to win a superbowl, you need a QB that can win it from the pocket. Someone who can move around and extend plays is great. But they need to be a dynamite passer. Elway said this and I agree 100%.

    As a european it will be niceto have a NFL Team(s), but I remember the World League of American Football.A League that Had 10 Teams.3 Teams in Europe (London , Frankfurt, Barcelona.) 1 in Canada ( Montreal) and 6 in the USA ( Orlando , Birmingham Sacramento,San Antonio,New Jersey.and Raleigh Durham) The logistic was a great mess and mayhem.Sacramento fly for a Game in Frankfurt through 9 timezones. The european Team are 4 weeks to play abroad in North America Which Player will Play in a country where great language barrier is?!A Division with only 4 Teams are much to Low .Every Team have 6 Games in Europe,and then? they Go abroad to US 5 or 6 Weeks( When a european Division added by NFL you will be have 20-24 gamedays)Where do the Teams make practice? Or 1week in Europe and 1 week in the USA .? As a Frequent Flyer I know the Jetlags You have lower recreationtime.than a US based team. Sorry it will be a bad Idea. TV times are a mess its a minimum of 6 hours to europe 1 pm eastern time is 7 pm MESZ. Thats O.K.but the second Timeslot 4 25 Is 10 25 pm in europe,or will you see a game at 7am eastern in the US ?

    Your funny, delusional thoughts. The nfl has been in talks before about joining the nfl and only 3 cities in Canada and the 3 are Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto but the biggest problem is the CFL has one of the biggest historical history as a league and goes way back and the NFL doesn’t want to be responsible for dismantling the league and that’s why they didn’t join. If you don’t believe me then do a research and p.s the reason why the 3 cities in Canada is because of the money and size and if you look at the other city’s they will not be able to afford with what sponsors

    #1 Toronto, Canada - the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area has over 7,281,694 people... by comparison the second largest city in Canada Montreal only has (4,291,732 people) and the third largest city in Canada Vancouver only has (2,642,825 people). - Toronto (1st largest city in Canada/US without an NFL team) - Toronto already has NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS teams, and each one of them is top 10 in valuations. - the NFL is MUCH more popular in Toronto than CFL is... - an NFL team in Toronto would be instantly worth $5 Billion dollars... #2 San Antonio or Austin, Texas - there are over 30,503,301 million people in Texas...Texas can 100% support another NFL team, and NO Jerry Jones had no say in 2002 when the Houston Texans joined the NFL...and he will have NO SAY when San Antonio or Austin gets a team. - San Antonio is the 4th largest US city without an NFL team (2,703,999 people) - Austin is the 6th largest US city without an NFL team (2,473,275 people) - these cities are approximately 70 miles apart, the halfway point New Braunfels would be approximately 40-45 minute drive from either San Antonio or Austin - Texas is the most diehard football state...and two MAJOR markets without NFL teams are only 40 minutes apart...that's a no brainer. #3 San Diego, California - the Chargers should have never left California, that was a mistake, LA does not NEED or WANT two NFL teams, and they have demonstrated that they support the Rams, not the Chargers, the Chargers should go back the San Diego-Tijuana/Mexican market is SO MASSIVE to turn down...there are 3.2 million people in San Diego and 2.1 million people in Tijuana....I don't understand why the owner wants to be the second most popular football team in Los Angeles instead of the most popular in San Diego/Mexico - San Diego is the 1st largest US city without an NFL team (3,269,973 people) - Tijuana is across the boarder from San Diego and has an additional (2,157,853 people) - the NFL desperately wants to expand into Mexico, and a team in San Diego gives 2 million Mexicans in Tijuana a team to cheer for, this is the best way to gain interest in Mexico (Mexico City is too high altitude for an NFL team) San Diego would be the PERFECT way to introduce the game to Mexicans...what a missed opportunity #4 St. Louis, Missouri - poor St. Louis, they lost the Cardinals (1987) and the Rams in (2015), they did not deserve to lose the Rams, but Los Angeles was a better market than St. Louis, it doesn't mean St. Louis is a BAD market - St. Louis is the 3rd largest US city without an NFL team 2,796,999 people (only San Diego and Orlando have more people) - why does St. Louis deserve a third team? where else would you go? San Diego and Orlando are the ONLY larger markets in the US without NFL teams, and Florida and California already have 3 NFL teams each.... - St. Louis battlehawks in the XFL averaged 35,104 attendance last year, and averaged 34,365 attendace this year...by comparison the next best attended XFL team only averaged 14,143 people....2.5 times less than St. Louis averages....they LOVE FOOTBALL and they are STARVED FOR PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL - Los Angeles deserves a football team, but San Diego and St. Louis should have never relocated...

    If the NFL absorbs the CFL, it would make sense to take the largest markets, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and either Edmonton or Calgary. I don't think an NFL team could work in a small market like Regina or Hamilton unless a Green Bay style public ownership model is used.
