    Just wondering how Cobdogla is going. When growing up my family would always go camping on the river bank at Cobdogla at every opportunity

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The riverbank areas around Cobby are underwater now... ie. the road along the Kaiser Strip is now a lovely creek to kayak along! Cobdogla township is dry for now though.

    • @frizzy60
      @frizzy60 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So sad to hear. Was last at the Kaiser strip in March 2016 when my family spread my Dad's ashes into the Murray, near the weeping willows and ghost gums. That was his happy and ever lasting place

    Beautiful stuff Amy. I'll keep copies of these for the next drought when all the "experts" start touting that it will never rain again. Remember 10 years ago?

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh, I remember well! I am rather looking forward to it not raining for a while though - it'd be nice to have a dry winter in 2023!

    Hi amy w
    What are our chances of an over night starting at milichs landing then heading up katarapco creek. To camp on the bank then back down the river to milichs again. Is it still doable in this high water . ????
    What is your opinion 🤔
    Thakyou

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day Turtle, hmmm, I'm not sure... At the moment putting in at Milich's wont be difficult (assuming it hasn't been closed off!) , but camping up the Kat might be... but if you leave enough time to go looking for a suitable high-ground spot (they'll mostly be off the creek course now) then you should be ok. The flow is fast coming out of the Kat itself - you'll have a good workout going up against it... if you stick to the shallow flooded areas you should be fine though. Katarapko Island is almost entirely submerged now, so don't plan on camping on that side. There will be higher ground on the other side of the creek, so I assume you'd be able to find a spot somewhere.

    How beautiful but I’m sad so much devastation on the way. I will pray for all. It’s so cool to see the river run again.but it’s stupid all this water and it’s going out to sea. And when we have droughts again. ????????????why didn’t any government built more dams and levy’s in the past. Go back to floods gone by. The population is greater now and so so many are homeless. I’m devastated and cry a lot watching these videos. I don’t know how people will get through the depression caused by all of this. Stay safe when able. My heart goes out to all.

    All comments and no ONE expressed concern about human drama and governance criminal negligence in not doing anything to stopped floods We must build huge dams and pumps systems, deepen rivers and bigger levee, huge artificial lakes and irrigation systems...but nothing is build. Human tragedy is no concern, each flood is billions in losses and no one will build anything

    • @nordic5490
      @nordic5490 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Notice how all the older houses are built on high ground ? There is a reason for this. It is the old adage, build on a flood plain and you are going to get flooded. If people want to make that choice, fine, but, I dont want to pay for it. All the long time established towns are built on high ground for a reason.

    • @alibenkahn5092
      @alibenkahn5092 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Let's not get carried away. Certainly people are suffering but we've done enough damage to ecosystems and the environment with all our changes, some of which have contributed to the current situation. Not to mention building in inappropriate places!

    • @nordic5490
      @nordic5490 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alibenkahn5092 correct. This flood is doing a much needed repair of native forests and habitats.

      It’s funny how in a drought people want the government to do something about the low water levels, and now they want them to do something about the rising levels. Just ist the river do it’s own thing and we should work around it
