Great vision and terrific presentation. Was up at Renmark in mid November, and wondered how much the water levels had changed along the riverfront (a lot). Thank you!
Again another great video amy . Well done . Looks like we made the made right decision not to go up there yet. Looks pretty hectic. Good video production. Thankyou 🐢
Or human stupidity, not one water storage, no one dam no irrigation and pumps systems artificial big lake. Nothing!!! China was flooded along Yangtze permanently, no more. Holland was flooded permanently, no more with floods systems, ausis criminality negligent in doing nothing or greeni needs proof for climate catastrophe...
I'm at tailem Steve. Haven't seen a pelican for days. Guess everybody's flown off to the barrages. Btw, how do mosquitoes know how to breed up before the headwaters arrive?
"Safe" is a very subjective term... being on the water in any craft at the moment requires local knowledge, experience and a lot of caution. Each person has to assess their own skill and knowledge level to decide if it's safe to go out on the river. The rules at the moment say jetskis must only travel at 4 knots at all times, other powerboats must only travel at 4 knots near buildings and built infrastructure like Locks and weirs, and kayakers cannot get closer than 250m to a lock or weir. there are other rules too... you can find them here: marinesafety.sa.gov.au/river-murray-flood-event-marine-safety-advice?fbclid=IwAR1IIl_-zM6TAGLGM4cToGBsMN3didCbbXDYQgiAmWcnD-7y1j2LVEp4z5c
There seems to be very little on Mannum, all Renmark and Mildura. The massive floodworks in Mannum are incredible, are they expecting more than we are told.
I'm hoping to check out Mannum after Christmas. Yes, the videos I've seen of that area recently certainly do show how much work is going on to prepare for the flood peak down that end too.
Friends are away camping in NE Victoria currently. Yesterday for the area they are in, The Bureau recorded around 31mm rain in the 24 hours. Snow is predicted for tomorrow or the next day so they have packed up ready for a early exit.
so it looks like it's at 74 height now and Mildura still going up and the darling still to come down, if not for all the mozzies it would be great canoeing and camping
Any estimates on when it will become "normal" again? Don't get me wrong, I am Uber happy that this great flush is happening, but all things return to a status quo at some point. Cue "Rockin all over the world".
Ah... the ol' "how long is a piece of string" question! The peak is due at the end of December, so it'll start going down after that, assuming it doesn't start raining again. I've heard guesses that we'll still have high water until at least the end of February. Not sure when "normal flow and levels" will be back... we've had higher than normal flows since August 2021 in SA, but the levels are most likely to bounce back to normal in Autumn if the weather goes back to normal too.
If people stopped building on flood plains there would be less property damaged. Unfortunately, flood plains have some of the best soild for growing and building on.
My name is Michael Hobby, you could say that I'm lucky that I live in Loxton, in the Hollywood area., because Renmark goanna turn into a small Island by the end of February 2023, and it's going to be a sad thing for those people are going to lose their Homes.
Very good flight, thank you friend for sharing the beautiful view 👍🤜🤛
Thank you 👍

Used to live in Waikerie so love the Murray River! Looks like powerboats are OK, anyone out kayaking or is it too dangerous?

😳 ... it's summer, right? Bummer they had to cut their holiday short... I hope we don't get a repeat of that anytime soon!

Finding suitable campsites is a tad difficult at the moment too!
