Julie, I have never taken Feng Shui into consideration on any of our prior homes, but I am so excited about incorporating it into our new home. So much so that I actually had my husband change the door location to our bedroom so that it was not opening to the foot of our bed. And the full-length mirror that was going to go in our bedroom will now be located at our front entry to reflect the energy into the home (and equally important, to remove it from our bedroom). I am learning. 😊
Thank you Julie!!! I'm pretty good at designing homes, and interior designing, although I can always learn more. So I enjoy your shows greatly. However my very favorite are your Feng Shui series, because this I know very little about. I designed a 9K square foot home all by myself, custom to our family, and our front door came out gorgeous - it's very different than what people in my region are used to. I wanted this double door for for years, and kept it in mind when building. My whole front door area looks European, and now I'll make sure to Feng Shui it (so far I'm doing well!!!) and our entire l home little by little. Thank you!!!
Hi, I never knew that an entrance would fill in for a whole video. Hence I understood the importance of it as it is not only the first impressions but the place which invites everyone who live there and make them feel like there actually in their "home". I also never expected a pop quiz in the end. Thanks for another amazing video and have a happy new year
I have an all glass front door with a frame around it. I see it is not ideal, but I love it, I love the light it lets through and makes my room light any airy and fresh looking.
Hi, Julie! I'll be moving into a new home pretty soon and while its red door charmed me at first, I realized after watching this video that it will look much better in a crisp white since it faces West according to the Feng Shui chart. We're feeling really blessed that we got this house (first time homebuyer stress like NO tomorrow!), so your video came at the perfect time as we start a brand new chapter together as a family. Happy Lunar New Year! 🐅🏮
Hi Julie! I absolutely love your videos! Could you do a how to design a winter entryway? I live in Colorado where the winters are harsh and plants don't survive outside this season. I've been struggling with how to put together a timeless year-round look for my front porch that is not holiday-related or holiday-specific. Thank you!!
@@YourFavoriateJewelrylady Thank you! I've been considering evergreens actually! Just trying to decide what kind and in what pot to give them the best chance in this climate.
This subject would be interesting to see. I’m in Houston and it doesn’t stay cold very long here; however the main point is, it does get cold. Thanks for suggesting
Happy New Year everyone! 🎉 Well it's good I saw this video. I live in a 60 ft long mobile home and my main entrance door is a South facing slide glass door with a glass side panel! 😱 I'm definitely going to fix this problem.
Thank-you for the tips, I always wanted to change that front door. I'm not crazy about the glass panels, and the paint chipping off. I'll look for a gorgeous solid dark blue door (It's facing North), and thanks to your video, my choice is narrowed down. Now just have to look for lovely plants that can handle the lack of sun (and hide the garbage bins not too far. Happy Lunar New Year!
What about storm doors? What about plants in the winter that go dormant? What if you don't have an entryway with a foyer? Door enters directly into your into your living room? So many questions. I did get my front door and my back door correct. My front door faces north and it's a black and my back door faces south and it's red. I like your video but a lot of the pictures were nice and flush with spring and summer plants.
Thank you for watching Grandma! 1. Storm doors are fine, they’re purely functional 2. Dormant plants may still have symmetry and clean, beautiful pots. We can’t control the weather 3. Watch my video on awkward entryways in the awkward space series where I share solutions on how to create an entry where there is no clear foyer Yay for the door colors 🙌🏻 Hope this helps!
As always, thank you for your knowledge, Julie! Our front entry opens directly to the living room, there's really not an entryway, is that ok? If not, what are your recommendations for "making" an entryway with furniture or dividers?
Thank you for watching Geri! I have a video to help you carve out a beautiful entry. Watch the entryways video in the awkward space series for a ton of tips! 👍🏻☺️
Once again you give the best advice. I am thinking about changing out my front this year and this will help me greatly. My door faces sout but right it's all glass because I'm in a middle unit of a town home. I only have front and back windows. I really need the light. I will except any suggestions. Thanks again
Thank you for watching Gina! Feng Shui really is all about what you’re willing to change for something you can only feel ✨ Colors that relate to that sector can help elevate the energy if you’re keeping the glass.
HappY Lunar Year of the Tiger! I've been loving all of your feng shui videos and I'm taking notes as I'm working on plan for a new apartment I purchased. This brings me to the next question - how would one address the FS elements in a apartment building when there are limitations as to what one can do with the outside of the door? I'm hoping that in the next video you are planning (the foyer / corridor) you will bring up some solutions that are apartment friendly. Many thanks!
Yes, I thought of this when I made the video and it all starts with how clean and tidy the front door is Dorothy. You can still keep it dust free, clean the light fixture, add a fresh doormat, and maybe symmetrical plants! A little effort goes a long way even in rentals, apartments, and condos 👍🏻☺️
@@JulieKhuu thank you for your response! As always super helpful and absolutely appreciated! I’ve been doing some deep-diving into your channel for so many gems of practical advice! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience!
I got all exited about painting my front door red because I thought it was good feng shui and would look beautiful, but it’s N/NE so blue it is …… so much to learn
Hello Julie, thank you for sharing these great tips for front door Feng shui. I have a question about my door as there are 2, I live in an apartment above a garage/storage space. So I have an exterior door that opens to steps and a small landing which there has another door that opens into my apartment. Should I apply these tips to both doors or one? Inside or outside door? I would appreciate any input! Thank you😊
Hi Julie, Saw a few of your videos yesterday and was surprised as to how much I’d remembered from a couple of Feng Shui books I had 10 years ago. I’m sure like me, you see designers knock down so many walls in the Home Improvement programmes and they say, “ I just love that you can now see right through to the back door …… etc etc “ ……. I’m sat there saying “ You do ? “ The bedroom video had me saying this though. ( I have mirrors above my bed side tables ) If you need a mirror in your bedroom and most of us do, hang it on the inside of a wardrobe door / doors. All for now. Off to see if I’ve missed any of the other Feng Shui videos. Gerry
Will do in more depth for the entry foyer video Patty! It’s typically easier to address what’s happening inside once you figure out the pathway of chi 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Julie - love your videos! I have a question I hope you’re able to answer for me. I live in an apartment block/complex, which door is considered my front door? The front door into the apartment block or the front door into my apartment? Thank you
Hi Julie! I’m confused about the glass in a front door, I think you said front doors should be solid wood, but so many of the images in your video show lovely front doors with glass, My door is wood but the top is glass. Does it need a curtain over the window? Maybe a wreath ? Thank you for your wonderful content! 🌸 Edited for typos
I show a lot of glass doors because so many homes have them A. We can’t always change these out, so best to “cure” them with elements that may help. Curtains are great, a wreath works too. If the glass portion is small and minimal on the upper portion of the door, I believe chi will do just fine permeating the space 👍🏻
With God's help and protection everything is easy and good. God is The Almighty One. The Powerful God is Merciful, superstitions are sinful Plase take the Holy Sacraments and follow the 10 Commandments to be in Heaven Eternally
Happy Year of the Tiger Julie! Thanks for your informative, interesting videos. My home has double doors w/one used. The house faces South but I’d like Navy blue doors which is a North Color - exactly opposite compass direction. If repainted blue is my chi cancelled? Would mixing some red in making result a dark periwinkle help? Or repainting the dark green double lanterns flanking the doors? Or both. Does lantern size matter? I believe mine are too small. So many questions, huh? Thanks for your inspiration whether or not you can chime in with brief answers!
Happy lunar new year MacAngus! 🥳 The color of the door helps energize that Southern element, if it’s the wrong color, chi doesn’t get cancelled. That element is simply not as effective. There’s no such thing as “negative” Feng Shui, just some (considered) bad moves that we can help cure. You can add red flowers outside or inside the foyer and definitely amp up the size of your lanterns/ wall sconce since they fire direction is all about the biggest, brightest lighting possible. Good luck! ✨
I did pretty good on the quiz, but I was as baffled as the chi, with the door within the pivot door. A previous home had a glass front door with divided lites, and it DID feel like we were exposed and vulnerable. My current home has a double door with horizontal weathered wood strips, alternating with glass strips. It faces NE. I could improve it by frosting the glass (the entry needs the light) and painting it black or green. Julie, it faces a front courtyard with arches, which I am thinking of walling in with wood. It would still be open to the sky. Would the present front door still be considered the front door, or would the enclosed entry arch then be the front door? The entry arch is perpendicular to three arches across the front, and it has a sidewalk to it.
Thank you for watching Merry! The front door is front door, not the arches you enter through to get there. Frosted glass would help, covering it completely with more wood slats would be a game changer. NE could support both black and dark green, so go with your gut Merry! Painting it would be the easiest first step 👍🏻
I love your videos particularly the Feng Shui and plant ones. Can I ask a question please? I have front door but the whole family always use the back door to gain entry on a daily basis, for convenience. Does the Feng Shui chi still enter via the front or does it follow our pattern of entry ? I really need to address the front of the house either way after watching this. Happy year if the Tiger to you . Hope your years fabulous xx
Chi follows the pattern of entry Joanne, so treat that back door like your front door and implement these tips! Thank you for watching and happy lunar new year! 🎋🏮🧨🎊
Hi there! Thank you for these videos, they're very helpful. I'm a relatively new subscriber but have watched almost all of your videos so far. What if you're a renter and the front door isn't the right color? My other question is what should you do if the front door opens to the coat closet? They're literally back to back. Thank you in advance. Happy year of the Tiger! ⚘
You can only do so much I understand Helena- keep it clean and tidy, add some plants for color, clean the lighting, add a nice doormat. Check out my Feng Shui for the new year video for more entryway tips! Thank you for watching 🙏🏻☺️
@@JulieKhuu Thanks so much. I picked up a rug today and washed down the front door. I thought about removable contact paper to bring in the right color. I will watch the other video again. Congratulations on your most recent pregnancy as well! 🙏🏽🌷
This makes me feel a little sad 😔 If Chi likes beauty/beautiful things and can avoid things not considered beautiful, what happens to those of us who are just everyday people living in average homes? Are we impervious to positive Chi because we may not have enough beautiful things or own huge homes? Many people see the beauty in imperfections, things that make something unique. Isn't beauty subjective? The houses in your videos are stunning, but a far cry from my reality. I rent my home so I'm limited to changes I can make, and I certainly can't afford, nor have the space for, a water feature by my front door. Plus, I live in a block on the first floor. I can't afford to leave my hall light on all day either. Would it be a waste of time/money for me to invest in basic things in an attempt to attract positive Chi because it may not be beautiful enough? I was looking forward to doing something to help bring life and positive energy into my new home, and have been watching lots of videos, but now I'm not so sure 😥
I hear you…have had similar situation renting a 3rd floor apartment, really old one with wooden oak handrails. Consider videos for small spaces. I looked at aspects I can control like choosing a circular rug versus a rectangular. Or repositioning furniture. Swapping out wall art for something that complimentary to the principles of feng shui.
So are you going to buy a land and build a new home with everything she said? Whether your entry door is all glass and faces northeast are you still not paying the same mortgage/ rent? Please watch all those videos with a lots of discernment, whatever she says are her own beliefs. Some people have dirty homes yet they are successful and happy 😊
I hope you’ve discovered this by now - that it’s really about you and your intention. What brings you joy. It doesn’t have to be expensive or perfect. I love Julie’s videos, but most are not suited for rentals, but there are a few feng shui people on YT who do focus on this. And almost every feng shui book I’ve read stresses that it’s really about how the energy makes you feel, not these strict rules. I rent a small cottage and the entry door is 1/3 window, but it feels amazing in here, I feel so happy when I come home, like I’m being hugged by my home. That’s what’s important. I feel that sometimes feng shui experts get a bit too controlling with what’s good feng shui. That’s not healthy. If you’d like some names of more rental-friendly feng shui experts, let me know. Maybe you’ve found them already. But in case you haven’t had the time, I’m happy to share. Like I said, I love Julie, but I do take a lot of what she says with a grain of salt when combining with my rental.
@AngelaPeck-bo6tx That's really kind of you Angela, thank you 😊 I've seen Cliff Tan on TH-cam and I'm considering buying his book, but I would certainly appreciate recommendations from someone like you who has personal tried and tested methods and ideas 🪷

I love your videos - especially the examples of what NOT to do as it’s easy to find plenty of good/pretty images online but it’s tough to spot mistakes in real life.
Because I live in an HOA community and my front door faces East and all doors in the community must be painted a dark green and I had mine repainted last year, also it does not have any glass. I love flowers and plant them beside the door each year. Also I am a Rabbit and I have a Rabbit along the walkway to my home. Thank you! It's 2023, my year of the Rabbit!😎

I love these videos. Thank you.
Thank you for watching Elf 🙏🏻☺️
❤❤❤ I hear you! Can Julie be bothered to respond 🙄
Great advice. Thank you

Awesome! I love green in general, the color of renewal and rebirth 💚
Thank you Julie! I’ll keep these suggestions in mind. 🤗

5:06 for my reference ... this is home - I love the door and facade - and I'm a 'white linen and everything else against rattan/timber person'... I am just coming back to feng shui because the subject is a joy and even if mind over matter, it's all positive...
Positive mind, positive vibes always 💫
Happy New Year!! Love, love, love your Feng Shui videos...good to have a quiz at the end :))

Hello Sally how are you doing today hope you are doing well?
I need to Feng Shui everything. According to Janet Yung, this will not be my year. On the upside, I got all the quiz answers right, except the first one. Those windows tripped me up at first. Great info, thank you, Julie. Your baby bump is looking so cute. I think it's a boy.
Thank you for watching! This isn’t the most auspicious year for me either, but that simply means I have to work a little harder and be more mindful of my decisions. It will humble us Psalm! 🙌🏻✨
I really enjoyed this and look forward to the front foyer segment! Loved the quiz at the end as a recap!
The quiz helps to retain the information I hope! Thank you for watching Daniela! 🙏🏻☺️
