Would love to see more feng shui videos dealing with the kitchen , the bathroom/toilet, laundry? and also front yard and backyard if possible. love love loveee this content thank you so much for posting ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, I took your advise and moved my furniture around. I loved how my living room felt when I pulled all the furniture forward toward the center of the room leaving a space around the perimeter of room. I like how it feels airier and pulls in the sitting area for conversations. I’m thinking of buying an area rug to designate the space.
To me toilets are lucky, especially when I really need one. I do enjoy your channel and am in a constant mind set of decluttering. You have very good taste.
Very good! Thanks, Julie. I used to use these principles. I have moved so much around since the pandemic started. Spread seating out to combine living and dining room as one big space. You are so right. Things change. Your first point was so key - declutter. I find if I stay on top of that and keep things clean and in good repair, life is better.

Great Vid! I have studied Feng Shui, but I have been hesitant to try it in my home ..... afraid of making a mistake. Thanks for telling me, "Just try it in small ways to begin with...." Also, thanks for the advice about mirrors - I need to go watch that RIGHT NOW.
This might be your best video to date. So much information and easy to understand in 20 minutes!!! You rock. Interestingly I didn’t know any of these feng shui for the living room and I’m already doing a lot of them. So Julie, why do some people naturally just do it? what does it mean when people do it naturally?
I was super excited to see this post! I took my time before watching it. Kind of like saving the best gift for last. I'm a Kua 6-West, Hour: Earth Dog, Day: Fire Horse, Month: Wood Dog, Year: Wood Dragon. Did I mention that I love Feng Shui? Time to get rid of more stuff. lol What I like best on this one is how you made sketching out your space and dividng the quadrants looks so easy. Interesting that dried flowers are a no no in Feng Shui too. I kind of love them, but that's okay. I have plenty of silk peonies. Thank you, Julie. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you Julie! I have enjoyed and benefited from every one of your videos I've so far. And I couldn't have found this one at a more auspicious time - I am in the process of purchasing a new home. I am enriched by your generous sharing of your knowledge.
I am totally hooked and smitten! Just found your channel Julie and find you so talented and informative. I know I'm a little late to the party, but really enjoying every video - and just love the whole TJ Maxx story about how this all began. I never really thought about Feng Shui before, but found this completely fascinating and am eager to apply it in my new home. My biggest challenge is that my home is situated on a cul-de-sac and therefore on an angle which positions my living room's primary/focal wall on the southeast wall of the room (while the corners of the room face N, S, E and W.) A floor to ceiling built-in bookcase takes up the entire southeast wall. It is devoid of windows thought the entire northeast wall is a sliding glass door. The southwest portion is where my 92" sofa sits with a long console table behind it. This is sort of the dividing point between my living and dining rooms. Any thoughts on how to better achieve good chi in this type of floorplan?
Thank you for watching Jane! My childhood home was on a cul-de-sac and all our corners were angles as well. This is how I first learned to apply the map- it can be done! In this case, focus on placing large furniture away from the entries and alongside the rear/ largest walls. It will help open up the rooms and allow chi to flow and meander. Colors help to fill up the elemental corners and directions. Good luck!
PS Collected beautiful pine cones and would love to display them in the livingroom but need to know are they considered wood or "dead flowers" (since they contain the seeds of the tree) ?
Hi Julie, thank you for the new content on Feng Shui. It's one of my favourite topics. I admire your plant collection, it would be nice for you to share some tips on which plant does best in which room and what kind if lighting and care required. Do you recommend plants in the bedroom?
I’ll definitely work out a video for best plants for Feng Shui. Plants in the bedroom are tricky- they should only be used to cure challenges since plants are yang energy and bedrooms are yin.
This was amazing! So informative and easy to follow. I literally drew it out as you described it and I understood everything completely and I have such a great visual in mind. I'm excited to get my livingroom in the right order! Thank you!
Your videos on Feng Shui are so extremely helpful Julie. I have just recently downsized from a double storey with a huge garden to a TINY granny cottage, which is all the rooms are in one straight row, the doors to each room are on the same side. I believe this must have been storage rooms in the past (it is on a farm). To apply Feng Shui in each room is very hard so I am super grateful for your last comment... "don't take it too seriously" 🥰 (I have to downsize a lot more but I am so not getting rid of my favourite couch, just yet 😐 At this stage I am tossing up whether the back door is my front door or vice versa ...couch fits if I use the "back door" as my front door 😂

Q? How do u feel about "House Smudging" a home. Is "House Smudging" apart of Feng Shui practice or should I not apply that to my home? I absolutely LOVE learning and applying Feng Shui tips to my living space. I LOVE your videos on this topic please do more!! I can feel your positive energy right threw my computer screen. Thank you Julie, it was great!!👍 I will enjoy following the rules without being too serious and nervous. As you said, it’s all about how we feel in our living space. Thanks again for the guidance, and the chart was so helpful!❤️
Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this video has helped me. I've recently moved into a new home with my husband and our baby after spending almost 3 years in a tiny damp room of a shared house. I am very excited to try these techniques out. New subbie☺️❤️
@@JulieKhuu 😊 I'm just waiting for a compass since my phone isn't compatible with any compass apps. But I have incorporated a little from your mirrors video, had my mirror facing my bed this whole time but have changed it since. I have been working with what we have here and have already noticed the difference in my mood and the energy☺️ told my sister in-law about this channel too, she is also moving out very soon. Thank you your channel is great!
Compass settings need to be reversed Brett. Feng Shui originated in China/ northern hemisphere so the North element of water would be South= Water/ North= Fire for those living in the Southern Hemisphere. I need to make another video that spells this out! Thank you for watching and the feedback 👍🏻
Thank you Julie. I live in the southern hemisphere (Chile) and my feng shui master applies that same logic. To us the north is the place of the fire element as the sun is at its peak in the north and our north is warm. The south is our darkest, coldest direction and is the place of the water element.
Thanks so much Julie. Such a great series. I am struggling with deciding on a couch/ sofa for my home. Please can you do a series on sofa styling. I was considering a brown leather couch but think it’s too masculine and not sure about an upholstered couch. Please help. Thanks
Yes. Couch buying is a struggle. A show on furniture pieces. Ie things you sit on. Then things you put things on or in. Things you sleep on. Best materials for different buyers. Kids pets multi generational households. A new series for you!
I am very happy you talked about water features outside, I am wanting to put one in front of my home, I was confused about which side to put it on, which side when walking up to my home. I am wanting to do Feng Shui on the exterior of my home, can you talk more about exterior Feng Shui? I am going to be painting, and doing minor landscaping on the exterior this spring. I have updated the interior following your Feng Shui advise to the T, I love the way it turned out, when people walk in their remarks are WOW. THANK-YOU.
Hi Julie. I've just discovered your videos and really loved this one in particular. I have a few questions... I live in London, UK and my house is about 120yrs old (which is pretty standard for the UK and not considered that old). I have quite a small, late victorian/Edwardian house but the original fireplace, (which we still use) is placed on the northwest wall, with all the corners of the rooms being either true north, south etc. etc. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for making this space more harmonious? Or even advice for people with older houses where it's not really appropriate to reposition things. Thanks so much. xx
Keep up the great work!! Love your videos because of the content mixed with your upbeat and self-assured personality. Very refreshing in our drama loving culture. 💜💕
Did you see the two grids I mapped out? You can use the living area only or the whole shabang Patricia! Whichever your family uses the most for daily activities
Loving the series❤! DO you have any tips or suggestions on what we can do if the 🔥 fireplace is in the north part of our livingroom?!😬 Also, our condo is an open concept with the dining room & living room basically being like one big rectangle; what is the best way to separate the two spaces without blocking the flow of chi? & last question: our front entrance is on the first floor with an open foyer & staircase to the 2nd floor where the rest of our entire living area is (its a 2nd story condo)... does this have any sort of impact on anything? I'm thinking because its pretty open that its fine & I actually love the space & high ceilings in the area, but if the 1st floor entrance is an issue is there anything we can do to help keep the chi flowing up & in to/through the actual living space?! I'd love to hear your thoughts if/when you get a chance! We're actually moving in this week & haven't even picked out our living room furniture yet and I really want to make sure I get the best furniture for the space, so I'm not rushing into it. (But I also don't want our guests to end up sitting on the floor either though!😳 I look forward to hearing what u think. Thank you so much! 🙏🏼
Hello Julie, Mary here, I’m not into this concept of decorating according to Chi or Feng Shui- but I am always able to glean something from your videos. Thank you!
thanks for this, jk! i am happy to say that my living room is pretty much following feng shui guidelines, and that's no surprise b/c i often get accolades from visitors about how much they love the room. i wonder if they can feel the FS vibe. question--can a big, sunny, bay window count as light instead of having lamps/candles/light source?
Julie, Thanks so much! I love this info and am looking forward to moving things around a bit. I was able to find a Lillian Too book (168 Ways to Success) as you recommended and was able to get my Kua Number and much more. We’ve just added some hard wood to our stairs so as soon as touch ups are done I need to get my entrance set up. Thanks again for all this info, I enjoyed this video! Yes, I’d love more Feng Shui, it certainly can’t hurt to get all energies in the right place right?
Thank you Julie for the wonderful video. I have watched a dozen of Feng shui videos but you have simplified it completely so people like us can understand. I also leant how to find the directions by standing in the middle of the room as opposed to walking in from the front door and finding it. There is a little clarification that I would want. When you said always have a focal piece of furniture in your living room and position in a way that when chi enters the room it can focus on the piece and can meander around the room what exactly does it mean. Shall I place a center table in the middle of the room? I have taken down notes and that Chi sheet was really needed. Thanks so much Julie.
Thank you for watching Nivedita. The focal piece of furniture is usually the largest in a space, ie the sofa or sectional in your living room. Position the sofa so it doesn’t block the entrance, perhaps flanked alongside the furthest wall so chi can move around the coffee table and side tables then land on the main piece. Hope that makes sense!
@@JulieKhuu I watched your video on focal wall and understood the concept lot better. Thanks for this video. It makes a lot more sense now and you have given such simple solutions that anyone can apply. While explaining the wood corner you suggested that if we cannot use real plants we could use two other artificial flowers plants. I understood only the fig tree. I could not understand fo flowers with silk leaves. How do we do that? Could you explain that? In the metal corner you also advised metal book shelves. The one in the picture looks like a wrought iron stand. Could we use Iron too for metal corner. What are the best metal options in terms of types of metal? I loved all the golden artwork you displayed. To activate the north corner, I am planning to take a print out of the ocean waves picture that I have downloaded from Google and place it on the left of my main entrance door meaning when I open my door from inside and walk out of the door the picture is on the left wall just adjacent to my main door. That part happens to be my north corner. I have taken down the wonderful direction sheet and will start using them for recreating my room. You have made things lot more easier. I also learnt how to take note of directions from the center of the room as opposed to walking in from the front door as most videos tell. Julie I would like to shares some pictures for your advise. Would be happy if you could share an email where I could send you. Thanks for all you helpful advise. May God Bless You.

Thank you for watching Alexis! Yes, overlay the entire bagua map onto your floor plan and divide the grid accordingly 👍🏻
@@JulieKhuu I was wondering the same as my livingroom and dining room are one long rectangle. Thanks!
I’m new to your channel and I’m loving it! I have a small living room & getting new flooring and want to get new furniture. I’m so clueless and would love your input on ideas on what to buy.
Start with my Dream Space series Yvette! I have a ton of videos that detail my entire design process- exactly how I break it down for clients ☺️
@@JulieKhuu thank you so much Julie!
Julie, I love your videos. I'm so excited to follow tips in this one in our new home in Florida. Still hunting for the perfect house but trying to follow your suggestions.

This makes me feel more positive and determined to have a more peaceful living space. THANK YOU SO very much JULIE !!!
Thank you for watching Lisa! I’ve never heard of that term before, will look it up now 🙌🏻☺️
Thank you Julie, it was great!!👍 I will enjoy following the rules without being too serious and nervous. As you said, it’s all about how we feel in our living space. Thanks again for the guidance, and the chart was so helpful!❤️
Thank you for watching Y! 🙏🏻☺️
Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this video has helped me. I've recently moved into a new home with my husband and our baby after spending almost 3 years in a tiny damp room of a shared house. I am very excited to try these techniques out. New subbie☺️❤️
Awesome! How exciting 🙌🏻☺️
Does this apply to the Southern Hemisphere Julie or does the compass settings need to be reversed?
Fabulous question!
Compass settings need to be reversed Brett. Feng Shui originated in China/ northern hemisphere so the North element of water would be South= Water/ North= Fire for those living in the Southern Hemisphere. I need to make another video that spells this out! Thank you for watching and the feedback 👍🏻
@@JulieKhuu - I’m contemplating…should I move to Australia or completely change the furniture in my house around…🤔😂
Really good question!
Thank you Julie. I live in the southern hemisphere (Chile) and my feng shui master applies that same logic. To us the north is the place of the fire element as the sun is at its peak in the north and our north is warm. The south is our darkest, coldest direction and is the place of the water element.
Thanks,Julie, for these very important videos on good energy & freeing up our living spaces
Thank you for watching Linda 🙏🏻☺️
Thanks so much Julie. Such a great series.
I am struggling with deciding on a couch/ sofa for my home. Please can you do a series on sofa styling. I was considering a brown leather couch but think it’s too masculine and not sure about an upholstered couch. Please help.
Thanks
Yes. Couch buying is a struggle. A show on furniture pieces. Ie things you sit on. Then things you put things on or in. Things you sleep on. Best materials for different buyers. Kids pets multi generational households. A new series for you!
I have a video on purchasing big ticket items like sofas in the Dream Space series Thembelihle- check it out 👍🏻☺️
I am very happy you talked about water features outside, I am wanting to put one in front of my home, I was confused about which side to put it on, which side when walking up to my home. THANK-YOU.
Wow, that’s awesome Katheleen 🙌🏻 Let me work on exterior Feng Shui! It’s tricky, but doable ☺️
Thanks so much. xx
Northwest is a metal corner, so place metal objects in and around the fireplace to ignite the metal element Catherine
Keep up the great work!! Love your videos because of the content mixed with your upbeat and self-assured personality. Very refreshing in our drama loving culture. 💜💕
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻☺️
Agreed
Thank you so much. I have a question. How do you map a room with an open concept. Living room, kitchen & dining room all one room.
Did you see the two grids I mapped out? You can use the living area only or the whole shabang Patricia! Whichever your family uses the most for daily activities
4:02~I love this video. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching Jade! 🙏🏻☺️
Me: looking around the room
Husband: what are you looking for?
Me: poison arrows
Husband: huuuhhhhhhh🤣
Ha ha haa!
Ha! He’ll catch on soon enough Beth! 🙅🏼♀️🏹
Hahahah there's a lot in our homes we don't know about
I've been looking for this exact info paid out in this format. It's even my laptop background for a while!
Thank you for watching 🙏😊
Loving the series❤!
DO you have any tips or suggestions on what we can do if the 🔥 fireplace is in the north part of our livingroom?!😬
Also, our condo is an open concept with the dining room & living room basically being like one big rectangle; what is the best way to separate the two spaces without blocking the flow of chi?
(But I also don't want our guests to end up sitting on the floor either though!😳
I look forward to hearing what u think. Thank you so much! 🙏🏼
Hello Julie, Mary here, I’m not into this concept of decorating according to Chi or Feng Shui- but I am always able to glean something from your videos. Thank you!
Thank you for watching Mary! 🙏🏻☺️
thanks for this, jk! i am happy to say that my living room is pretty much following feng shui guidelines, and that's no surprise b/c i often get accolades from visitors about how much they love the room. i wonder if they can feel the FS vibe. question--can a big, sunny, bay window count as light instead of having lamps/candles/light source?
Yes, absolutely if your keep your windows open Adrienne 👍🏻☺️
I remember I voted for feng shui videos in your poll, and now I'm watching one 😘thank you
Awesome, thank you for watching and voting Tamara 🙏🏻☺️
Julie, Thanks so much! I love this info and am looking forward to moving things around a bit. I was able to find a Lillian Too book (168 Ways to Success) as you recommended and was able to get my Kua Number and much more. We’ve just added some hard wood to our stairs so as soon as touch ups are done I need to get my entrance set up. Thanks again for all this info, I enjoyed this video! Yes, I’d love more Feng Shui, it certainly can’t hurt to get all energies in the right place right?
Awesome! She provides super detailed Feng Shui information in her own terms, love that you’re continuing your practice Deb! 🙌🏻☺️
I would love to see how you've applied Feng shui in your own home!
