If it’s expensive then do it yourself. Remember you have to pay for the work and all the new parts that’s being replaced. I work as a mechanic in Norway and if u own one of these expensive cars the price is higher. It takes a lot of effort and precise work when dealing with AMG and all sports cars. In my country you would be charge around 25K to 30K Krons😊

Always thought grooved discs were directional. NS looks correct but OS looks wrong with the grooves. Also would have been a nice touch to maybe throw a little cleaner on there and maybe clean the springs etc down before throwing it back together. Oh and before people start asking what knowledge do I have..I have tested and developed breaking systems in performance cars for a number of years, for the likes of Mintex, Pagid and Ferrodo. You made it look easy as expected and the old breaks were shot lol but sometimes that little extra says a lot about the technician ;) Thanks for the upload none the less.

Yes. Fun Fact: Its my second hood stay. Someone tried to close the bonnet thinking its a hood with gas springs. The hood stay was shaped to a right angle.

First you don't need to clean the rotors. There is no oil or something on it. Just a zinc coating. And second: on this brake system there is no grease allowed.
@@eyeorewolf i never use c-clamps for fixed calipers, too great a risk you can scratch up the paint and the opposite side pistons will move back out if you aren't counter-holding them in place....c-clamps work great for sliding calipers though. 2 prybars/long screw drivers work well if you don't have the proper pad spreader for these types of calipers.

I have done a lot of brakes on my personal vehicles and never yet had a caliper piston move back out on me but I admittedly haven't addressed the brakes on my SLK55 AMG yet so I appreciate your insight, with the cost of parts I definitely want to make sure I do the job right and don't do any damage even to the finish on the calipers. I can see where the multiple pistons on the AMG caliper may cause an issue with them wanting to move back out if they aren't compressed in unison or if they are spring loaded in some way, thanks for your input.
Where the parking brakes engaged before you started ? I thought you had to press some kind of a button combination inside the caf to release the parking brakes when you do this kind of maintenance.

Exact same process on my 07 charger srt8 super bee, really easy, only real annoyance is that a lot of the performance pads squeal, try spraying on a quieter before putting them in.
why tighten the wheel bolts with torque wrench if you tighten them more tightly than prescribed by the impact wrench anyway The torque wrench just clicked and did not move a millimeter, so they are too tight
The only mistake (but HUGE) is a lack of measurement the front disc after fitment - W/O it you will never know if the discs are straight (and they can be warped from the beggining - believe me). Thx to this measurement you can be also sure that wheel hub is straight and the new brake disc is perfectly fitted to it. It has to fit in the norm of 0,05mm. Otherwise client will have issues after some KM.

Führungsbolzen reinigen und neu einfetten. Oder müssen die immer ersetzt werden? Darf die Zündung ausgeschaltet werden wenn sich EPB im Service Stellung befindet?
Artur Christ Normalerweise müsstest du an den Bolzen nichts machen solange sie nicht fest sind. Aber du kannst sie ruhig saubermachen neu fetten und weiterverwendeten. Zündung darf ausgeschaltet werden aber die Bremse sollte nicht betätigt werden solange du im Wartungsmodus bist.
Vielen Dank! Muss nun nach knapp 70tkm auch das erste Mal meine Bremsen machen. Und bei unserem Händler wollen sie 900€ dafür... muss ja nicht sein, wenn man den Wert der Teile betrachtet.

Die kleinen Bohrungen an den hinteren Bremsscheiben sind das Verschleißindikatoren? Die Bohrungen sind bei mir noch vorhanden. Mindestdicke 21.4 mm darf die Scheibe haben. Habe leider kein geeignetes Werkzeug um die dicke zu messen. Aber in Regel wenn das zweite paar Beläge verschlissen ist dann sind auch Scheiben fällig. So war das früher zumindest. Sorry für so viele Fragen
Es müssten 3 Bohrungen pro Scheibe auf der Reibfläche sein (außen, mittig und innen vom Drehzentrum aus gesehen). Wenn du alle sehen kannst ist die Scheibe noch i.O. und man kann noch einen weiteren Belagsatz fahren. Sieht man nur noch 2 kann man die aktuellen Bremsbeläge noch zu ende fahren und sieht man nur noch die innerste Bohrung sind die Scheiben verschlissen.
The AMG instruction book says that noises are normal for the AMG performance brake. But you can try to dismount the pads and to grind down the brake pad with some sandpaper.

Yes, but only at the rear axle. There is a service menu in the car computer.

In this case you dont need to clean the rotors. The coating disappears when braking for the first time and dont effect the brake power.

@@maddin2896 Original Brembo kostet ~80€ pro Scheibe vorne und ~90€ für 4 Klötze, dazu noch ein Warnkontakt für 5€. Also etwa 250€ komplett für vorne.

HI Waveceptor, do you have any trick for squeaky brakes? mine are squeaky on the rear, almost new pads. they are stock AMG
The AMG instruction book says that noises are normal for the AMG performance brake. But you can try to dismount the pads and to grind down the brake pad with some sandpaper.
