    Who has not visited these beautiful places, must do so. Egypt is a amazing place, you just have to be prepared to accept reality as it is, to understant the culture and to respect the people everywhere you go and you will surely be left with memories that will always fascinate you.

    Great video! I have been in Egypt many times for family visits. Nice to experience everything from your perspective. So funny you mentioned that you hear people arguing very often. I used to think that as well. But these people are mostly very passionate in the way they communicate. Also if you can't understand the language it seems like arguing. But from my experience Egyptians are the most friendly and funny people in the Arabic region. Once you know them you love it. Sorry to hear that the vendors make you feel less relaxed. It is their only way to get an income, sadly enough. But I hope you enjoyed Egypt anyway. A tip once you will ever visit Alexandria, that place is far more relaxing and less touristic. Enjoy Jumping Places and I enjoy watching you guys!

    You have no idea how lucky you were. As a solo traveller the second I left hotel across the street a group of 30 surrounded me and trying to be my guide. Literally not 2 inches of space as they come right up to you. Ramadan made it possible for you two. Your experience would have been 10x worse in regular times. I gave up by the sphinx and took the guide and camel. It was only way to stop the hagglers and ghost from coming up to you. There was no choice and then for payment its always what I feel like giving. Pyramids were cool the experience was hell. Only way to do it is with a group tour where they leave you alone. Solo traveller there is suicide. My tip is always try to look like your using your phone and wear headphones and they might give up.

    You obviously didn't encounter the Pyramid Dust that we encountered while touring the sight, which, trust me, was in your favor. We weren't really aware of it, but it did create respiratorial discomforts for at least three months after...very similar to bronchitis. I was surprised that we weren't warned of the dust or even advised to wear masks. Other than the constant "marketing" antics surrounding us, it was all super awesome to witness the Pyramids in person. Great coverage. Great Channel. Nice soft voice...nice delivery!

    In Cairo now and had a really good experience, didn't get harassed, people ask or approach to sell but just say no thx and they back away. Crossing the street is very much the same as in Vietnam. There is a lot of garbage in the streets and unfortunately at the monuments, lots of harmless stray dogs. The traffic is a living beast and to go anywhere takes forever. No need to feel unsafe. Thanks for sharing your travels we enjoy your calm and thoughtful demeanor.

    I was on a cruise that stopped in Alexandria. This was about 40 years ago. I got up for the Cairo-Giza tour around 3 AM. Our tour group got on one of about 50 busses waiting for tourists. We spent
    a little less than 2 hours in the museum and this was by far the most interesting part of the tour. We had lunch at a hotel where Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin had their last conference together.
    Then we went to the pyramids and as soon as we got off the bus a hawker grabbed my camera and took my picture and then asked for $5,00 for his service. We settled for $2.00 because a crowd of hawkers came by and started yelling and I did not need a fight. After we saw the pyramids we went into the tomb with you were wise enough to by pass. We had to duck walk on our buts down a steep wooden platform by passing the other tourists trying to get up the wooden ramp. We finally got to the bottom and spent about 30 seconds in a small room wondering why we spent this time to see an empty room. We drove back to the ship spending hours on a dark 2 lane road through the desert. All the Americans that took the tour came back with the runs. I believe the other nationalities skipped the water for lunch and drank wine. I guess that just proves we Americans are not quite as smart as we think we are. That was a long time ago and I am not ready to visit Egypt again.

    • @The69cool69
      @The69cool69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AdhamMGhaly How did I miss the point? The pyramids are a dream. My only complaint was the tomb. It was empty and crawling down to a poorly lit room on a 100 degree day was not any one's idea of fun. I enjoyed the pyramids. It was the people I had to fight off every minute. I say it again, I would not do it again because I am sick of pushy people.

    • @AdhamMGhaly
      @AdhamMGhaly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That empty room is a jewel of architecture, standing at this height completely built in Granite in the Middle of the most Huge limestone structure the world has ever seen. The roof alone weighs 400 tons of Granite, the mysterious air shafts that extend in the North and South walls with all the possible theories about what they are for.
      The problem with the pyramids is a problem of expectations. You cannot book a trip to the top of a mountain and expect it to be comfortable.
      Regarding pushy people that is another issue and of course I agree with you about it.

    BTW, I understand that the interior of the Khufu Pyramid is extremely moldy and dusty so those with allergies would do well to AVOID going inside! Regardless, as you said, Carol, there are STILL many mysteries about these ancient edifices (including evidently a hidden 100 foot chamber inside the Khufu Pyramid that has only been recently detected by sonar and has never been breached in historic times). It seems that the Ancient Egyptians considered pyramids and tombs to be MOVING VANS to the afterlife so that's why the pharaohs had them built so BIG so they could have them loaded up with everything they could possibly use including furniture, clothing- and even food! Great seeing you two appreciate the opportunity to be there (and that you had less crowds than might have been anticipated). Again, thanks!

      Yeah we were supposed to go to Morocco instead of Egypt but his videos turned us off as he said it was way worse there than here lol. But maybe it’s just kind of the same really

    The place you’ve been at 26:40 it’s called Ataba. It’s a very famous souq here and as well one of the cheapest area to buy clothes and encens… I’m in cairo and even this place is busy I really enjoy going there. Glad you’ve been to Siwa it’s awesome 🤩 and when you’ve talked about the revolution I can say even 2013 that was messy 😫 too many people died.
    27:57 the big building on the left was the emigration place for visas but they moved in a new one located in Abassiya. If I knew you were in town I would have been invited you home 😂😉 and I can say yeah they charged you the right price for the sandwiches

    There is a good chance the Sphinx is much older that 2500BC. Some theories suggest it could be as old as Gobekli Tepi in Turkey which is dated to around 9000 + BC or so. Great video. Safe travels !

    Thanks another for the tour also the reality check beyond the beauty. To be honest we think you did the whole trip the best way and got a great experience doing so. Yep those pesky hustlers really don't help tourism . We have some incidents here in Morocco but not as bad ( some people may disagree) . Anyway you handle yourselves well and are polite. Take care, all the best from Morocco, Cath and Keith 😀

    I really loved the views you got of all the pyramids and the sphynx and as you walked to get all 9 pyramids. You are lucky because it is Ramadan, this is the only reason you have not been attacked as I call it, none stop. They are relentless at harassment as I have seen on other videos and even my old favorite television show called lonely planet, this was back in 1994 and it has gotten worse. I am glad that you are still able to enjoy everything and it be calm and peaceful. The story of the nose of the sphynx was that Napoleon had it blown of is what I learned in history. Keep enjoying your trip and the smell off poop everywhere 😜😜
