That was excellent. It makes me want to go back! Aswan took my breath away. My friend and I rented a Falluca, one of those tiny boats that sailed down the river for 3 days. No bathroom, we had to buy food and water and it was sooo cold at night, they threw a giant rug over me to keep me warm. Experience of a lifetime. Thanks for bringing those memories back.

I remembered doing this cruise from Luxor to Aswan for 4 days - probably mt best experience in Egypt. I remembered doing the hot air balloon ride over the Nile during sunrise in Luxor. I'll say Luxor is probably my favourite destination in Egypt. During my 3 visits there, I have been to Cairo, Giza, Saqqara, Dahshur, Memphis, Alexandria, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Aswan. I'll say Sharm El Sheikh was my worst experience BUT I still loved it - it is just that other places were so much better

You can see royal mummies at National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in Cairo. RamasesII and Queen Hatshepsut mummies on display there very interesting after so much stories were told about them and temples. I found it was a great way to finish off the journey.
Your travel videos are very genuine and real. I feel as though I am on the journey with you, right alongside Chris and Carol - which at my age is a super convenience, not to hassle with airlines, schedules, crowds, etc. Thank you 🙏 & I will keep watching! 💫🏆

@@JumpingPlaces we were in Cairo & Sinai Peninsula Sharm el-Sheikh on the Red Sea. We took a dinner cruise on the Nile, visited Giza pyramids too. We were on a military mission very limited time. Armored vehicles, guides etc, (John is retired 35yrs USAF). But it was incredible!

30 odd years ago I did this same cruise but in reverse and on a felucca !!!! If I remeber correctly there were 8 of us travellers and 3 crew - we ate and slept on board out in the open - brilliant and much recommended - sure you can still do this.

Egypt reminds me of some of the movies i have seen like, Indiana Jones, 10 Commandments, James Bond, Mission Impossible and many others. It's a trip not many people make so you guys are very lucky...congrats!
another brilliant video chris & carol. i loved the reference to crocodiles as i live in cairns, australia in the tropics and we have crocodiles in the barron river which flows by at the end of my street.
So cool. Abu Simbel is my favorite New Kingdom site. Those gigantic statues of Rameses. I’m an Old Kingdom fan so the areas around Cairo are my favorites. And the Cairo Museum.
You were lucky to have a Nile view from your window. Not only do half the cabins face the riverbank but often the boats are parked 3, 4 or more boats alongside each other such that all you will see is into another cabin just feet away from yours and they will have a close up view of you in your cabin (and you theirs). You could go to sleep with a view and wake up to find people looking at you (so wear something to bed if you don't want to be totally embarrassed or close your curtains).
One wonders what was used to illuminate those deep rooms in the temples, especially when they were being carved out and all the images inscribed in the walls and painted, and the sculptures honed from stone... some sort of oil lamp that didn't produce much if any soot. Great video!
That was a very wonderous journey up the Nile river and the views were very nice to see, I really enjoyed the sunset. I am sorry about the 0.5 star cruise as I picked everything apart, that is really not me, but when you brought it up I could not help myself. The temples were very cool and I to heard about the moving of the temples due to the creation of the lake. Sad when you think about it, you don't really get to see what you came to witness as part of history and the era. I am glad the you and Carol enjoyed the cruise, so that is all that matters when you are on an adventure to a foreign land as well as a stranger in a strange land. So Chris, so far this has been a very good tour I hope as for Carol as well. We have been having a blizzard that has shut down our state for two day as we are in faze two and the drifts are at around 6 feet and everything is shut down and no travel through the state till maybe Friday. enjoy the sun🌞😎 and I will stay frosty🥶❄❄❄❄❄ prayers to you both and stay safe🙏💖

I did a reasonably priced group adventure tour of Egypt including Cairo and the pyramids, train to Luxor, Cruise to Aswan, train back to Cairo and a week in the brilliant Red Sea Resort of Dahab with a company called TRAVEL TALK. they often have "Buy one, get one free" offers, and I've done a couple of inexpensive but really good trips with them!
Planning to travel in October..Is Viator a good choice for Nile cruise booking? Too many options..Viator shared a link for a cruise organized by Egypt Gift tours..Keeping my fingers crossed Many cruise boats are outdated, I guess .. a luck of the draw to get a decent one..??

The Abu Simbel temple was originally built at another location and then moved in the 1960's to the present location.
