    Awesome work as per usual my friend.
    Really enjoyed our day in sunny Wales filming the car, didn’t realise how much work goes into making a video, you are a perfectionist.
    The rolling shots are epic and the commentary is sublime.
    Thanks ever so much for featuring my car on the channel, Maya was made up to see her plate on TV 😍
    Best wishes to you, Jilly and the family for 2021 and look forward to seeing you both soon x

    Drove one in anger at a Porsche Experience day last year, also drove the 991 GT3 RS & GT2 RS - This for me, was the best. The induction sound it makes in the cabin after about 4-5k has stayed with me and I have sworn that I will own one, one day, some way.

    8:52 - really says it all. I'm in the market for one, think I'm dreaming though, used performance car market has gone bananas over the past 18 months, can't see any coming up for sale here in aus. Having driven one as well as a 2020 GT3 (road and track respectively), both are great cars. But the 997.1 is the perfect balance of on road and track usability, performance, size, involvement and looks (especially in black and orange, those rims are glorious)

    I can only liken this 997 version of the GT3 RS to be the Velociraptor fo the 911 stock.
    Old. Fast. Nimble. Loud. And only bites other lesser vehicles. Though, personally, I wouldn't take it in green of with a manual 'box. The manual 'box thing is purely because I'm at an age where I just prefer auto 'boxes. Especially if it's made by Porsche :-))...
    I've always found it odd that with porsche, 2 is more than 3. But it does make the 3, somewhat, a better road car! That exhaust note gives me goosebumps :-))...
    Oh! @2:21 into the video. Did I spot the Blonde stalker loitering? :-\\... And at the end too. Full frontal as well ;-))...
    Another stunning video Mr. Bailey. Hope you and your good lady, Jilly, have a great 2021. Looking forwards to more of your stunning videos :-))... 🎇🎆🍾

      The numbering system for the GT cars is from the FIA racing categories. GT1 was the top back in the day, hence the GT1 that raced at Lemans. Each of Porsche’s models fits within the racing category hence GT1, 2, 3 and 4.

      Great idea! check it for smoke on full throttle - in fact get a full inspection even tho its only done 10k, most people agree its a sublime car, I had one for a year loved every moment, I'd expect very gentle depreciation and you'll have to swallow the dealers mark up of £5 to 7k I don't expect values to rise any time soon.

    Hi Roger I'm looking to pick up a new Porsche this year, thinking about the 997.1 and 997.2 turbo and turbo s as well as the 991.1 gts. What do you think is the best option as far as value holding up and possible future appreciation

    • @RogerBaileyOnCars
      @RogerBaileyOnCars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this is difficult to say, I'd budget for each of them to depreciate gently for the near future and if they appreciate that will be a bonus, you'll need to budget in any dealer cut into the cars value at around 7% to 10%, so try them all out if you can, get a decent inspection and enjoy the experience, all of the above will be rewarding to own.

    • @gam88a
      @gam88a 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      997.1 Turbo comes with the same basic motor as the GT models designed by Mezger. That wasn’t the case for the .2, and there is certainly a cult following of the Mezger engines, so would expect a .1 a better long term buy. 991’s are produced in massive numbers (6500 GT3RS’) so don’t see them holding values in the same way.

    • @markjames8160
      @markjames8160 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As an owner of a 997.2 Turbo, they are significantly more rare than the 997.1 Turbo, especially in 6 MT. From 2010-2012 there something like 500 manuals total across Coupe and CAB in the US. But, with the 997.1 turbo you get the Mezger motor, versus the new DFI motor in the 997.2 turbo. If you want maximum retention of value, I would buy a 997.2 manual turbo, followed by a GT 3 RS (with the Mezger motor). Both will be quite rare in the future, and may hold value and possibly go up in value if kept stock and mileage is not unreasonably high. I drove a 997 GT3, but just found it to much of a race car for the street. I preferred the thrust and torque of the turbo over the GT cars.

    • @Thespydercoronin
      @Thespydercoronin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markjames8160 Good advice mark , I would love a gt3 rs but like you said it's too much of a race car for what my proposes are and they are a little bit above my price range. So all things considered i would likely go with the .2 manual turbo as my first option if I can find a reasonable one near me and if not I might go 991.1 gts being I fell in love with a beautiful guards red example when I test drove it a couple of days ago.

    • @gam88a
      @gam88a 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Thespydercoronin GT3 a little less hardcore than the RS....but is only marginal. I don’t drive my GT3 daily because I don’t have to, but definitely a Turbo is more usable daily and of course even today still rapid.
      991 a much better car all round, but nowhere near as raw as the 997’s. Proof of this is that I know guys daily driving their 991 GT3RS’ to and from work.

    Great video Roger, in addition we need to remember that the 997 is the heaviest 911 ever produced, in fact a 992 Carrera S manual kerb wight is 10 kg less than a 997 Carrera. This reminds me to have a look at the RS model’s perhaps 997 GT3 RS is lighter than the 991 GT3 and GT3 RS. It needs to with its smaller footprint 👣 I’m going to check when I arrive home 🏠. @@RogerBaileyOnCars I must admit I was a bit disappointed at the 997. Remember the 997 has a smaller footprint and a manual gearbox in comparison to the 991.1 but the newer 991.1 GT3 RS is only 45kg heavier at 1420kg. But again the 997 carries the heaviest body of them all. Kurb wight of the 997.1 GT3 RS is 1375 kg. At least you will feel 45kg :-)

    • @gam88a
      @gam88a 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Janko, not sure where you’ve got your figures from, but they aren’t correct. The 997 was certainly not the heaviest 911 produced and lighter than the 993. A 992 (1505 kg DIN) is heavier than a 997 Carrera (1395kg DIN). The 997 GT3 is in fact lighter than the 996 GT3 with the same equipment, with the datasheets showing 5kg more, but has 20kg of AC as standard so is in fact lighter than the 996 variant.

    Confusing as you did not change gear above 5k , and this car does >80mph in 2nd so I have no idea how you got to rev it out in 3rd. The reviews very bias as these car without the cup final drive are frustrating to drive on the public roads.
