One of my favorite episodes so far! The guys from Sharkwerks are really cool and talented. This Porsche is phenomenal and so well-crafted. I love how they used Carillo rods and tossed the stock titaniums. Great job, guys.
"only the manual ones are our favourites" ...Yup I like that quote and that screams REAL CAR GUYS !! How many times does Jay Leno also ask for a manual tranny option when its not available in a car. Real car guys for sure. That is the last greatest Porsche ever made (997 gen and then the GT3 RS) and SharkWerks, you guys just made it that much better. Awesome work guys and I love your passion for all things cars or Porsche and I wish you the best, same to you as well Sir Jay Leno. Car guys and driver's cars are both a dying breed and it saddens me everyday to think about it.
+647killa you really nailed it well and truly. As driver's and enthusiasts we are sad to see a driver car like the gt3 with a manual go away:( Jay is a driver and loves the connection... Hence the cgt:)
Hey guys. I just wanted to know if you've got something going on with a 991 7 speed manual carrera/S. The new 991 turbo and gt3 are FAR from being puristic cars as they rely too much on technology for a fast lap around the track. The base carrera/S seems to come with a 7MT which I do like very much, but do you guys have any plans to add some of your sweet touches to it in the near future? I'd love to see a modded 991 Porsche Carrera S 7MT kick butt on a track and be a daily driver.
I hate to be rude but i don't like attitudes like yours, sure a lever connected directly to the gears is wonderful.... but paddles are faster, and when you're dealing with a car that has the level of performance the GT3's offer, i think i'd choose paddles over a traditional manual. I don't want to be the limiting factor of the car, and if i can bang out those shifts faster with paddles... then i think i deserve it to the car, this rocket ship on wheels, to go with the paddles.
@Sharwerks...you should look at Inconel rather than SS as an alternative to Ti...Inconel has a much higher tensile strength than Ti but is almost as light...F1 uses it for their exhaust and it was developed by U.S. Defense contractors for use in High Performance military jet turbines and other parts.
This is cool for me. My daily driver is a 2007 997 SharkWerks 650 Turbo, yet I've never met the guys or even knew what they look like. This makes me feel like if I ever had an issue it wouldn't be a problem to call them. Well done!
sharkwerks That's got to be the most surprising comment I've ever received on youtube! You guys make a product that seems absolutely bulletproof as far as I can tell. You will be getting my next Turbo, too!
Jay is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to cars, that,s why I'm surprised he referred to Hesketh Racing logo @ 0:57 as little teddy bear shirt. That was filthy rich baron Lord Hesketh's racing logo from formula 1 racing in the early 1970's. The 24 and Hunt are for Racing legend James Hunt in the number 24 Hesketh car.
That's Not the 997 GT3 RS. That's the 911 GT3 RS Version. I now the 997 version In one game. It's nfs Nitro. It's the Luxurious Car so you should play the game
I have been a fan of SharkWerks since first seeing that ZKERMIT on TH-cam. This new car looks and sounds awesome. Way out of my price range, but I can watch it and dream. Congrats on getting on JLG, looks like Jay really liked it!
I have heard a lot of great things from the Sharkwerkes guys, didn't know they Made their own crank shaft. Just goes to show that they go all out, that exhaust sound fantastic and is more durable than the factory one... Amazing!
I grew up in Provo, Utah when Robert Redford buzzed around town in a 911. His sister in law was a classmate, she would let us know when he was on a TV show, the Virginian among them. That was the first cool German car I had ever sen, bright red and what a beautiful sound
Jay Leno is VERY easy to approach and talk to. Yet a person can tell he is a die hard professional That does not like to compromise. I get the same vibe from this company. :)
On the surface you wouldn't think a hot red with some orange in it could be matched with robin egg blue would look this good. I love the deep sound of the engine.
Watched it when it first came out. After watching it again, looking at the rear spoiler; and then look at the one on the new 2015 991 GT3 RS. There is a lot of similarities there. This is over a year previous.
ROTF Daf!!!! I sooooo agree. It is just so ridiculously cool. I mean don't get me wrong Porsche is the best sub $200K "factory to the track" automobile produced today IMO. And this is coming from someone who claimed most of their life "awww it's a freaking squashed beetle etc, etc..." I drove a 2009 911 Turbo at an autocross in Charlotte NC a couple years back. Never been on a track before in my life and won the whole d**n thing. Now I tell you that to tell you this. That day, I drove a 2009 Ferrari F360 Spyder, 2010 M3, 2010 Nissan GTR, C63 AMG Merc, Audi R8 V10, and a Lamborghini Murcielago. Won top times in the GTR category and set the track record in the Porsche category(Btw, I was up against several SCCA and German touring car drivers). So all the top times from each vehicle category came back at the end of the day and had to all turn laps in the Porsche. I will say that you'll never understand just how good a Porsche is until you drive one. Those other cars were not even in the same zip code on the track. BUT!!!! A 220hp festiva? Lol, rear wheel drive? How do you NOT love that and want to drive it?
Chris Morga thanks man! It's really as simple as we _love_ Sharks and one of the owners has been obsessed with them since he can remember. There are so many weird shark things/trinkets here at the shop....
cheers kenneth... well tool steel can actually be light although not as light as the ti we took out. However with the lighter crank and pistons etc... we make it back and then some. The reason we voted off the titanium was it can stretch and wanted something that would last long and be more reliable.
Thanks Jay, looking to all your JLG videos, it is so good and passionate. Thanks for that !! I always look with a smile on my face! I am a simple Belgian 914 driver and enthousiast, waiting for a video of a 914/4. Thanks!!
About Jay's actual garage, does he employ a small team of mechanics to work on his fleet of vehicles full time? It's pretty amazing how he has such a passion for cars and employs his own team of mechanics to maintain his cars. When someone asks what garage he uses, he says mine. Leave it for us Americans to take something thats more expensive than it needs to be, more sophisticated then we want it to be, more complicated then it has to be and hotrod it make it simpler, make it better, make it faster, make it have more character.
Would love to join your team. I worked on Porches in the west la area and it was one of the best times of my life. I worked for Rick Norris at RPS Automotive wich stood for Ricks Porche Service. Hew was one of the best Porche guys between 1980-90's. He hands on trained me and I consider to be an outstanding Porche Tech. I completely love your work and would love to be a part of it...
What a bad ass car! I love Porsche's because they are super cars without the super car aura. Driving a McLaren P1 down a normal street in anytown USA and you immediate get noticed. Drive a Porsche and it barely registers. It's like driving a Corvette.....yes it is very nice but nobody is going to gawk at you with their lower jaw on the floor. Maybe this is because as Jay says these two cars (Corvette, and Porsche) are often seen at the track with people racing them. I love Porsche's and I have been tinkering with the idea of buying an older used one and restoring it myself. Any other super car I would never even consider but for some reason a Porsche seems accessible to me. Anyway thanks for making the video Jay.
I like having my hand on the stick, and I can feel the vibration coming up through the shaft
sounds like my dick
I can feel it too.
Jay - you said you like to rest your hand on the gearshift - I've always been told that's a no-no - it causes wear un the transmission...
You make it sound so dirty.
crzzymnn911 he did that on purpose
This is my favorite car that Jay has brought on the show.
One of my favorite episodes so far! The guys from Sharkwerks are really cool and talented. This Porsche is phenomenal and so well-crafted. I love how they used Carillo rods and tossed the stock titaniums. Great job, guys.
That dude totally matched his shoes and the Porsche for this specific day.... and probably every time he takes that car out.
LOL! I have an affinity for all things Gulf Racing so yes there are several shoes, socks, underoos etc... that we have in Gulf livery.
sharkwerks Really Appreciate you all commenting!
Spartan Barton and then Leno talks about how car guys could care less about clothing lmfao
That's kind of a Porsche thing. Kind of silly, but most of the guys who can afford to join the 911 Club are of that generation that finds that cool.
"I love having my hand on the stick and feeling the vibrations come up the shaft"
-Jay Leno 2014
Hahaha Jay called him out on the Teddy Bear shirt.
You mean James Hunt's Hesketh Racing t-shirt? Watch the movie "Rush".
That’s a Hesketh racing Logo on that shirt. If there is an automotive hipster fashion this shirt is the zenith of it. Only those in the know
I just love the color combination. It really stands out. It is one killer ride.
+Scott Hill Yeah right? What I don't understand are the yellow brakes...Kinda clashes with the orange of the rims.
+Peter Pepper I agree, but I think they come stock with yellow brakes and it makes sense to just leave them alone.
+Scott Hill The old Gulf oil racing colors!
+Scott Hill at first i thought you were complimenting his denim outfit
SweetMooch That's funny.
"only the manual ones are our favourites" ...Yup I like that quote and that screams REAL CAR GUYS !! How many times does Jay Leno also ask for a manual tranny option when its not available in a car. As a person who has driven nothing but manual shifts, I'll be damned if I can see the attraction.
Hey guys. I just wanted to know if you've got something going on with a 991 7 speed manual carrera/S. 647killa unfortunately we do not have anything like that for the DFI based engines no;(
I hate to be rude but i don't like attitudes like yours, sure a lever connected directly to the gears is wonderful.... but paddles are faster, and when you're dealing with a car that has the level of performance the GT3's offer, i think i'd choose paddles over a traditional manual. Aw thank you we're lucky/proud to have you flying with us;) That's gotta pull VERY hard indeed!
sharkwerks That's got to be the most surprising comment I've ever received on youtube! You guys make a product that seems absolutely bulletproof as far as I can tell. You will be getting my next Turbo, too!
Hah! Well yours was one of the nicest and it only eggs us on!:) These turbos are getting so quick to 100...
11:05 "but I like having my hand on the stick and I can feel the vibration coming up through the shaft"
Feeling the vibration become more and more aggressive as it approaches climax.. nothing beats it
I love the concept,
pure sport car,
keeping the sport in the car,
and Jay s on point once again,
loved this episode!
I can't believe it! He finally pronounced Porsche correctly! Kudos to you, Mr. Leno, kudos to you!
+pacovl46 It always stands out to me when folks say "dampening" instead of "damping," as the Sharkwerks guy did.
+aznazguy :-)
Jay is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to cars, that,s why I'm surprised he referred to Hesketh Racing logo @ 0:57 as little teddy bear shirt. That was filthy rich baron Lord Hesketh's racing logo from formula 1 racing in the early 1970's. The 24 and Hunt are for Racing legend James Hunt in the number 24 Hesketh car.
good point well made, i to was going to say, for a 'car guy' you would think he would know a Hesketh racing t shirt when he saw one
Charles Jones yeah... hesketh.... I even knew that.... teddy bear..... pfff
americans wouldnt be known as massive F1 fans ,easy mistake
fair go, il give you that
Jay actually did know the logo and has even met Lord Hesketh on a few occasions. I think he was just making a joke of it :)
Fantastic! They should put a manual box in the 991 GT3!
Oh hell yes. I've been waiting for an RS Porsche!! Cannot get enough of these cars. Awesome job guys!!
Metzger......Metzger..... METZGER!!!!!!! How can you not love that flat 6!!! Love the work that was done to an already raw and metal car!
Mental*
IIAmGothamsReckoning
metal is appropriate!
the hans mezger engine is our favorite. Amazing that you can run 1000hp in turbo form or do this with the NA gt3 set up.
Mezger, yes.
thats a sweet Porsche.. but I found myself having a hard time taking my eyes off of the Shogun a few times.. lol
hah you and us both! I love that shogun! James (the engine builder here) actually has a 904 built by the same guy "Chuck Beck" who built that Shogun!
sharkwerks is that the same chuck beck that built all the 550 spyder replicas?
jason mosler yes the very same guy! He has a yellow Shogun.
That's Not the 997 GT3 RS. That's the 911 GT3 RS Version. I now the 997 version In one game. It's nfs Nitro. It's the Luxurious Car so you should play the game
Richard Harrold he's talking about the Ford in the background.
"...I Like having my hand on the Stick and Feeling the Vibrations coming up through the Shaft..."
+Grant B Glad I'm not the only one who chuckled at that.
Hehe, I just scrolled down to say the same thing.
Grant B that's what she said
And the holding the knob is satisfying as well.
4:52 What is your duty?
Ok, close your mouth, I don't care.
Nice Jay, nice.
Excellent work...I like how they tweaked the performance without effecting the overall factory appearance. A true driver's car...very impressive.
The right way to tune a car. This one I would buy and not be afraid to use. The "Feel" is still there. So good work.
the gt3 rs is my favourite porsche. last week i filmed a white gt3 rs drifting at the nürburgring
I have been a fan of SharkWerks since first seeing that ZKERMIT on TH-cam. This new car looks and sounds awesome. Way out of my price range, but I can watch it and dream. Congrats on getting on JLG, looks like Jay really liked it!
An instant classic. Hard to find under 200K now sadly.
Thank you jay & your crew for all these awesome video's...
I would absolutely LOVE to see the Porsche 9ff 1200 here! It's a beast!
So far I love everything about that car, It sounds as good as it looks. Absolutely fabulous!
David J thank you david. When we can we like to find tunnels:P
sharkwerks Oh man. We can only imagine how good it would sound in a tunnel
DriveGearTV it's not half bad I can promise you that;)
that last clip about it being so nice to have a raw car is why I am still driving BMWs form the late 70s and mid 80s
Props to the Sharkwerks crew for taking the time to read and respond to our comments!
Our pleasure good bad and ugly we're all just car nuts around here:)
That exhaust has a really nice robust sound, but not intrusive. It's nice. What a great ride.
No matter how much this kit cost I will buy it in the future. Great work as always Sharkwerk!!!
I have heard a lot of great things from the Sharkwerkes guys, didn't know they Made their own crank shaft. Just goes to show that they go all out, that exhaust sound fantastic and is more durable than the factory one... Amazing!
I love the paint, I love the sound, I love the enhancements made. Now where is mine?
Love that Swedish Racing Green. Great on any hardcore car.
***** Not baby blue, Solid Bold Light Blue. Most famously used by Polestar, Volvo's tuning & racing partner.
Jay - isn't this a much better gig than late-night?! Love those 997's.
I grew up in Provo, Utah when Robert Redford buzzed around town in a 911. His sister in law was a classmate, she would let us know when he was on a TV show, the Virginian among them. That was the first cool German car I had ever sen, bright red and what a beautiful sound
Wouldn't want it in that color. The sound is amazing!
I like the smile on the face of the owner during the ride.
my uncle has a new 911 carerra 4 and it doest sound nearly as good as this one, great job guys!
Love Alex's SUSE shirt.
Still showing his roots as a computer guy.
Very nice looking car color wise.
Thanks guys, you made my Monday. What a beauty.
Jay always has the coolest cars, this is the sickest Porche I have ever seen
I don't know if I care for that color but sharkwerks certainly put that car together right, great job guys.
Jay Leno is VERY easy to approach and talk to. Yet a person can tell he is a die hard professional That does not like to compromise. I get the same vibe from this company. :)
Richard we agree totally. He's so enthusiastic and full of car-knowledge. He knows his stuff just like his staff does too;)
sharkwerks Just curious, does it have a flat plane crank or is it a cross plane crank? And what's the kerb weight of the car?
I love this channel
one of the few gems of a production car to come out in this day and age.
I usually don't like the way Porsche's sound, but i like that very much. Very smooth sounding for a boxer
Porsche are not normally my thing, but that is lovely! The paint is very reminiscent of the Gulf colours.. Sounds sweet too!
That's the best looking GT3 i've ever seen on youtube.
On the surface you wouldn't think a hot red with some orange in it could be matched with robin egg blue would look this good. I love the deep sound of the engine.
Baddest. Porsche. Ever. And Jay, sorry, but I like the wing, too.
That car is so sweet! I love the color! It just looks like there should be a Nike Swoosh on the side or something, it looks just so fluid.
"there it is" Awesome Jay!
Awesome job Sharkwerks!! Love the color combo on the ride and your British accents. Thanks for jumping the pond to help us out with our toys.
That color combo is insanely awesome
Watched it when it first came out. After watching it again, looking at the rear spoiler; and then look at the one on the new 2015 991 GT3 RS. There is a lot of similarities there. This is over a year previous.

" I can feel the vibration coming up through the shaft " !!!! Well, can't we all, Jay, can't we all. But let's get back to talking about the car.
Lmaoo...come on Commando, let go of your keyboard for once. Your killin' me with laughter !!
647killa Just passing round the joy, Killa, just passing round the joy.
sounds heavenly
The orange and blue looks unreal! It suits the brand name well, even though "SharkWerks" sounds a bit hokey but hey that's just me. Very cool guys!
Chris Morga thanks man! It's really as simple as we _love_ Sharks and one of the owners has been obsessed with them since he can remember. There are so many weird shark things/trinkets here at the shop....
I would love to see a RWB Porsche at Jay's Garage O.O
Good explanation on the titanium vs SS exhaust...would luv to hear the logic on the titanium vs SS rods....
Sweet car :)
cheers kenneth... well tool steel can actually be light although not as light as the ti we took out. However with the lighter crank and pistons etc... we make it back and then some. The reason we voted off the titanium was it can stretch and wanted something that would last long and be more reliable.
One word...Awesome!!!!
This is the May2014 cover car from the magazine Excellence. Best USA Porsche Magazine. Jay, this episode is sooooo TUFF!! Keep it up.
thanks Paul yep and Pano this month!
Lol The look on Jays face 7 seconds in!! Either he's in ecstasy or falling asleep.
"We wish!" jay: "No you dont wish!" "no we dont"...lmao
LOL...wasn't sure if anyone else noticed that.
Thanks Jay, looking to all your JLG videos, it is so good and passionate. Thanks for that !! I always look with a smile on my face! I am a simple Belgian 914 driver and enthousiast, waiting for a video of a 914/4. Thanks!!
amazing work on behalf of sharkwerks

Nice to see what you can make out of a nearly perfect german engineered car, when you're as passioned as he is!
Keep going!
Thank you for noticing Jonas. We were really stoked he liked it and well.. just stoked to be around so many insane cars and car people!
Absolute dream car!
Another great video Jay!
I never was a huge fan of how Porches sound but this one sounds great!
Jay your garage makes cars look amazing
Nothing better than a Porsche, love mine like nothing else.
beautiful car guys. loved the article on this car in Panorama as well
Leave it for us Americans to take something thats more expensive than it needs to be, more sophisticated then we want it to be, more complicated then it has to be and hotrod it make it simpler, make it better, make it faster, make it have more character.
Very bold and innovative choice of paint schemes. You usually only see such designs on track cars.
That's one phenomenal engine sound.
Nothing better then a manual trans
Would love to join your team. I worked on Porches in the west la area and it was one of the best times of my life. I worked for Rick Norris at RPS Automotive wich stood for Ricks Porche Service. Hew was one of the best Porche guys between 1980-90's. He hands on trained me and I consider to be an outstanding Porche Tech. I completely love your work and would love to be a part of it...
This Is SUCH a Beautiful Car! Actually my favorite out of the newer models, and this Cup Color Combo....Just Gorgeous!
God it sounds Beautiful too! I Want One BADLY! !
Love the color combo. That is one sweet GT3.
What a bad ass car! I love Porsche's because they are super cars without the super car aura. Driving a McLaren P1 down a normal street in anytown USA and you immediate get noticed. To bad I can only hit the like button once. Love this car! Thanks Jay!
Awesome! Thank you for sharing! The colors are sweet!
what a lovely piece of engineering just made a little sharper:) i love the way they modify the gt3 RS.
Shout out to Sharkwerks!! The only guys I trust for my 997 RS.
Recently got the sports exhaust on my 997.2 c2s
Good to see Jay's having fun. :)
I'm old fashion . I am not excited about the colour but the sound ...OMG is unbelievable !! Sweet ride indeed !!
Proud of you Alex!
thanks buddy!
Pretty Gulf racing colors, thanks for sharing Jay!
I love Jay leno's garage,
thanks Jay!
Luv the paint
that sounds so good jesus
That intro sounds perfect.
Awesome car! I love the blue and orange and sounds great!
Horn at the end spooked me
