    We need more vids from Tom. You can really feel his passion for cars. Love it. Tom and Chris Harris on top gear would be spot on.

      step0601 I love Tom. I’m pretty sure all of the happiness in Germany was drained from the people and siphoned into Tom. Because he just exudes pure joy, and I have never seen another German do that.

      Misha Charoudin maybe the real one too, how old is that house? It was a good call to keep the house and barn, less capacity but beautifully done

    Thank you for reminding me of the simultaneous combination of pure terror/joy that comes from driving at the limit on the track! Somehow the terror is part of the joy. Love it in a car, and it’s massively amplified on a sport bike.

    I love all of these videos you make! I hope you stopped at the little Italian place in town to get lunch. It's a must when you're there. Edit: This is an awesome instructor session by Porsche, with verbal instructions from a car in front of you showing you the line. What a great way to learn the track and the car.

    • @zAutobahnDriver
      @zAutobahnDriver 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pinocchio? I always go there before I leave Nürburg/Adenau, but certainly not for lunch, because I can barely drive home after their huge pizzas. Also -- thank you.

      @kevinetz5 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The first time I thought I had been given a large Pizza instead of the regular one,so did the table next to me, they were quite surprised when they got their 3 "regular" pizzas, they are simply amazing

      I usually hit the Ring up once a year as my parent company is in Darmstadt and I come over for training. It's not cheap (as I have to rent) but always worth it. How often do you get to drive the Ring?

    • @zAutobahnDriver
      @zAutobahnDriver 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not nearly as often as I'd like to -- this season, I drove four laps in a Twingo RS and what you saw in this video. The season before that, I was luckier in that I had a few press cars that I was allowed to drive on the Ring. I study the track on video and read as much as I can all year long though (+ Project CARS)

    Tom needs to come to America and to review something like a jacked up Ford Raptor on a ranch in Texas.

    • @Lieutenant_Dude
      @Lieutenant_Dude 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      SteveRunciman I think he would love it but in an entirely different way than this. It would be awesome. Especially with how much Grand Tour (when it was Top Gear still) loved the souped up Raptor and Silverado. Clarkson actually described it as driving and feeling like an Aston Martin on the highway, and he admitted that he now understood why Americans love the new style of pickup truck (the ones that are more luxurious and not exclusively utilitarian).

    I love this car.. but once I hit 40k miles I had to go for it and upgrade the intake, turbos, exhaust and tune taking it from the 443hp to 638hp. It’s a night and day feeling. Can be scary at times. These cars need to be respected as much as they’re loved!

    I remember the quality of the roads while in Germany this past June/July on my motorcycle tour. Perfect roads without a ripple. Little wonder why I hardly drive my 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS in Canada. We have s**t roads here compared to Germany. The ripples, the potholes, the bumps...welcome to Canada.

    Seems that if you get PCCB on this car you get these odd calipers with six 30mm pistons, which seems like a really odd choice. Seems to be just asking to turn your brake pads into door stops. As an owner of a car with PCCB (Not a 911), I think you're better off getting the standard brakes and getting aftermarket iron or CFRC brakes (Continuous Fiber Reinforced Ceramic, I believe it stands for).
    A few reasons, particularly if you track a lot:
    - Stock brembo calipers (PCCB and otherwise) have solid bridges, meaning the caliper has to come off to change the pads, and Porsche recommends you don't reuse caliper bolts.
    - Stock steel brakes are these goofy cross drilled units, you don't need the holes and they just serve to make the disc weaker. Worth noting that the much heavier Cayenne does not use cross drilled rotors.
    -PCCBs cooked the caliper piston seals, I believe this is because the stock caliper pistons are aluminum and PCCB discs run much hotter. I replaced mine with stainless steel pistons and this hasn't happened again.
    -If/When PCCBs get too hot, the carbon begins burning off, leading to them not lasting "longer enough" than iron discs to make sense. CFRC discs run at a similar temperature to iron discs.

    Amazing video! Captured the excitement of the day so well. Having this opportunity is once in a life time. Chasing Timo and then having him drive in the car with you was an amazing experience. You can improve your driving leaps and bounds when having an instructor of that caliber for a couple days. Suddenly the confidence and knowledge you have of what a Porsche 911 can do will change how you drive forever. great video, thanks!!!

    Emotions...! What a car and what a nice video to watch. Talking and driven to the limit at the same time , I don't think i can. What a great car. And surpriced the yellow Boxter could 'just' hold up...So what would be the real limit of this car...As I see in the other comments Tom and Chris Harris are great to watch.

    Damn! That crashed Corvette says a lot. I absolutely love Corvettes for what they are but, you can't just be some novice and drive it safely. There is a steep learning curve with it and it takes years to figure out the character traits of any performance car.

  • @Lieutenant_Dude

    Something tells me that in spite of how amazing this car is, if Tom ever got a chance to drive something like a 1LE Camaro SS, 1LE ZL1 Camaro, a Shelby GT350R he would be having nearly the exact amount of fun but at a quarter of the price. Porsche’s are fantastic, but they are nowhere near worth the money.
