I built box's for our racing trailer back in the day. I made frames from angle iron, then welded the sheets on the inside of the frames. I couldn't make it strong enough, or look right with just the sheet's bent like that. I also framed the doors with flat stock. They were stronger, and fit/finish was better. Yours are looking good with the break!! Nice job!! --gary
I understand building the boxes to save money. Flatbeds have gotten high. When I ordered my 4500 a few weeks ago I ordered a knaphiede pgtd gooseneck tradesman bed with electric locks on the boxes it was $15k
I own a machine and fab shop, and the plas cutter has its place but for sheet metal this is the most efficient cut and no warping take a look at this, DCS373B 20V MAX* Lithium Ion Metal Cutting Circular Saw, evolution and milwaukee make saws that are 120 v and even chop saws with these blades. I think you will be very impressed, also the chips that come from saw are HOT!!!! but if blade is sharp, metal can be handled immediately.
I don't know if it is too late or not but don't forget baffles in the fuel tank. The last one I saw built they used two plates the sized of the endcaps inside it and cut the corners off to make two spots at the bottom and two spots at the top for air and fuel to pass through. They truck just keeps getting sexier!
@@kentmckean6795I see what your seeing but he put it on squaring it to the truck badge. When you look at it quick your eyes go to the door jam which is not straight it runs at an angle which gives you the impression the sticker is crooked .
Wtf.... ...I thought I was the only one who has to draw right handed and write left handed 🤣! I had to learn to write left handed in high school from breaking fingers
Hell yeah brother 💪🏽🇺🇸.... Now that's made in the USA...... Heck you should have called and I would of helped you with the weight 💪🏽 on bending your boxes but looks like you handled it pretty well.
I seen a lot of custom stuff from TV shows & TH-cam I don’t think 🤔 i ever saw a aluminum box before under a truck about now above the truck i did seen custom stuff from tool Storage & what not.
Man that set up is redonklice aka sick as hell lol but my god that must have hurt the pocket book though because i can't see it not hurting it to be perfectly honest its just too nice bro.
Looks good. Like you, I didn't like the idea of buying a bed with those little doors and boxes. I built my own flatbed and bought buyers alum tool boxes and an alum montezuma for my hand tools on my 2001 and love it. However, I went with a norstar SD for my new 22 limited 3500, hopefully it has decent room Sam, if you are ever down in the oakdale/Escalon area with some time to kill you are welcome to check out my collection. 7 dodge diesels and 10 trailers in my farming operation.
Can you tell me how long the frame rails are on your 60"CA? I can't seem to find this info anywhere on the web. I'm about the pull the trigger on a 5500 to make into a welding rig. Trying to decide which cab/length I want. TIA!

Nice brake! I used to service and repair woodworking machinery and the old green ones were made the best.
I know I’ve said this before but the new intro song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nothing wrong with a big box 🤣🤣
Great start, can’t wait to see the final product. Thanks for sharing Sam👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

15k. Holy 💩
Another tool that you should add to your shop is a Milwaukee circular saw that cuts steel. They are very nice for that kind of work.
Very nice work 👍 Can't wait for my shop to get all those tools lol 😎
Why did I laugh so hard when you imitated the tractor lifting the green beast!
Pretty crafty work!
That’s a nice tool for the shop. Nice work
Great work keep them coming. Stay safe
GREAT WORK Sam.
GOD BLESS You...
Apparently our guy here is ambidextrous
I had to do a double take!

Ambitious project! Looks great so far. I think I’d have paid the $4500 extra 😂
Are you going to put baffles in the fuel tank?
Good job Sam.
Good job dude! Killer editing also!
what flatbed manufacturer do you recommend? Bradford seems to have the best online reviews
Awesome build video but what some was that when bending?!
I bet that "54" sticker on your drivers door being crooked drives you crazy! It's not my truck and my eye goes to it every time...
It’s not crooked. Door Jam messes with how it looks. It’s square to the factory badge
@@VBELTandSON Really? I do not doubt you, but I would have bet otherwise. Video must mess with my perspective! :) Look at 0:01 and see what I see.
It would be ripped off it was crooked ha 1/4 inch top and bottom to the badge

Years ago I built a fuel tank with just 2 pieces of steel and 8 bends I could draw it out for you if there's a way to send it
Great work. When do the preorders start?
Has Vbelt done his flatbed yet? Would love to see how that comes out.
Nope waiting on parts will film that also
@@VBELTandSON awesome thanks

9.5ft
nice job 👍
Sam, what is the name of the intro song?
Was following the math…you right handed, left handed, both, or was the camera work working there?
What is the spacing between the boxes and the rear wheel? Thanks
60 cab to axle
You should make it so you can fit a large saw in the back one
Not enough room In the back ones but they should fit saws in the front one
Am I the only one thrown off that he keeps writing with different hands lol
The weights aren't for handles.
The handles are for handles.
