'15 Jeep Wrangler - No Cooling Fan - TIPM & Fan Already Replaced

แชร์

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 7 ส.ค. 2024
  • In todays video I have a look at a 2015 Wrangler that was dropped off from another shop that was having as hard time figuring out why the cooling fans did not work. The fan and TIPM had already been replaced and it still doesn't work! Let's see what the issue is.
    -Enjoy!

Shop took the Jeep back and replaced the "new" fan with another new fan and all is well. We made the right call. Remember folks, "new" does not always mean "good."

HD 3speed transmissions just finally got their first silenoid 1 or two years before that. You quit before cars needed diagnosing. Since they were pretty much still good for 5 years back then
      Wouldnt you say?
I know because about exactly the same year I got out of it professionally. But I got out because the already underrated and underpaid proffession of an auto mechanic about to start a x100 more decline down the worlds steepest railroad incline

I'm old and i still hose the bugs out of the radiator , im told thats not necessary with modern radiators, just set in my ways I guess. Nice video 👍

I guess if this weren't a free warranty fix, you could connect a 1k resistor from the red B+ wire over to the PWM control wire of the fan(basically emulating Eric's test light), to act as a pull up, and the system would work again as factory pretty much... seems like just one internal connection/solder trace/joint is broken for the PWM pullup part... pity the fan will go to landfill over 1mm of copper connection...

I checked alldata and can not find any theory and operation on the fan motor controls, nor does the p0480 troubleshooting chart mention that fan is responsible to supply 12v on the control wire. The oem wiring diagram doesn't show the TIPM switching the wire to ground. So how in the heck is a tech supposed to know how to troubleshoot this circuit? I know it was through a test light, but I think I would've been nervous to put my own 12v on the wire. I'll have to keep this info in the back of my head somewhere.
edit: I found my own answer -- the info is hidden within the troubleshooting tree for the central gateway p0693 code.

Also, what is the program used to interrogate the jeep? Is it wytech? I kinda feel that it is critical to have it, so you can go in to the module and command the fan on, to diagnose. I don't really feel comfortable either bridging or unplugging ect sensor, to mimic overheat, and assume the fan is being commanded on. Rather do it thru a scanner.

I know how you feel Eric. I suffer from severe Crohn's disease and severe iron deficiency anemia, and have zero immune system. So i tend to get sick a lot. It makes for a very long day. And i woke up with a 103 degree fever this morning so yay!
Hope you get to feeling better soon brother. Praying for a quick recovery!

Great video Eric !.I'm in my easy chair watching this video .old Santa brought me the Rona virus for Christmas at 70 its hard to bounce back ..take care of your health and make it a priority. One lost day is better than getting real sick.I admire your strength and dedication to your work.but try to make Eric the most important one on the care for list.thank you

In the future when you start feeling crappy, try a teaspoon full of organic/cooking baking soda in water. Works for a lot of things!
    Good hangin' in there!
