      I don't know a single 4090 owner that actually has this issue. It's definitely user error. Notice how the majority of the damage was on the upper pins? Almost as if the side of the case has pushed the wires from the power connector downwards causing no full contact with the upper pins...

    • @sfalpha
      @sfalpha 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

      The specs push too much so it have very low tolerance. If 1-2 pins fails and mating incorrectly at high resistance, although it will not cause much heat because of resistance, other pins are taking more loads and get heated up, now it's a cascading failure, all pins doom to failed of 1-2 pins already failed.

    This situation is frustrating; I'm currently using a 3090 Ti and was considering getting a 4090. After seeing this issue last year with melting power connectors, I held off. I am surprised that a year later, there is still no fix for this. Replacing the power connectors is merely a temporary solution, as it is likely to occur again. I'm waiting for the 5090; hopefully it will perform better and prevent the power connector from melting. I did see asus introduce BTF. Therefore, the motherboard's PCIE draws power up to 600 watts. I'm not sure if this will work, since you'll be plugging in the power behind the mother board. I'm not sure if anyone has reported any issues with the power connector melting from behind the BTF motherboard. If it does work, it stinks because it's an extra expense to buy a new motherboard as well as a new case that supports BTF connections.

    I think this is a problem related to the power connector is not properly plugged into the GPU. But I do not blame the user. It is a bad connector design that cause this. So the blame should be placed at NVIDIA. If you install a new 4090. Be sure to plug in short power cable that goes into the GPU. When the card is on your bench. And check that it is properly seated before installing the card in the case
