Doug, you moved to the other side of the frame when you installed the bump stop. you might want to edit in a note on this. I almost installed the bump stop on the wrong side.
You mention these are available for a 1970 Nova, but I don’t see them listed on your site. I would like to see a completed project car with these installed….any pictures??
I have a 79 Camaro subframe that's going in my 68 Firebird. I'm interested in the geometry improvements that may be available from Global West by adding a drop spindle and tubular lower control arms in conjunction with the coil over kit. Thanks for the video, got me thinking.
Hybrid Muscle Garage I am only interested in improving the geometry while keeping it GM. This is the 2nd one I've done. I use very little of the 79 subframe itself and use a custom length steering rack. Thanks for the insight, it's not an easy bolt in project. I should have mentioned that.
I have a umi upper an lower control arm kit and a Viking coil over in my 70 Camaro and didn’t need to do any cutting the coil went in place of the factory shock why does this kit have so much cutting and welding
They fully welded that subframe up to close up gm' s cobbled welds. I wish they would have shown that. I have a 79 T/A I did the same thing to. Aftermarket makes coil overs that bolt in with new tubular arms and no cutting. I like those beefy pieces though and the fact you keep your stock sub frame instead of rolling a 7k hydro formed one under the car.
Well, its all good and nice but the elephant in the room is the rear leaf springs. Changing the front will not do anything to the terrible rear leafs. I can not find one video about the rear leaf to coil conversion. I do not want a race car just a street car but do not want to deal with the rear leaf springs. Any video/tips on how to proceed ?
year old comment so this may be pointless to reply. But it looks like this is the solution they developed for dealing with leaf springs and road racing conditions. th-cam.com/video/P00-x8NU4Bs/w-d-xo.html
Cool but not practical for a performance gain. Coilovers alone don't make a car handle better. This conversion at best might save some weight due to a smaller spring, but really will 4 or 5 pounds per spring matter on a street car? Correct spring rate, shocks, thicker sway bars, stiffer bushings on pivot points and lowered spindles. Proper caster, camber and toe, along with proper wheel offset and tire size and moving weight to the rear of the car.
Looks comparable to UMI Performance or Speedtech,,, Yet appears to have more meat, therefore possibly more rigidity,,{?} I bought both the UMI and SpeedTech to see which physically and 3d real-life would appease my 1970 Firebird +++==+++ WestSidePoncho
Lot of time money and effort for coil overs. And probably won’t even noticed the difference in the ride. My 77 drives pretty well as it is. Just saying. I mean if it was a huge unproblematic solution and ride performance was night and day difference , I’d understand it a bit better.
I like how you use the existing a-arm mount as a jig.
Do the inner fenders need modified?
John, no you don't need to modify the inner fenders.
Super Cool people to deal with. I ordered the COF 781 kit. I can't speak highly enough at how amazing it was to deal with Globel West.
Thanks for the feedback Curtis! You're going to love that kit!
Hey, great instruction and product thank you. I want to install BALL JOINT ELIMINATOR KIT can you offer that and show installation also please.
Awesome! Great kit and great video!
Glad you enjoyed it !

i will take note of this for future projects!

Glad you found the video helpful! thanks for the kind words! good luck on your build!
Great informative video that sounds like an excellent project for my second gen F body
Right on!
What size coilover? Is a longer one needed?

This kit converts to a true style coil over rather than a hybrid coil over.
Can you give part numbers of the matching lower control arms and recommend a part number for the coil overs and starting spring for a 454 Bbc

Does this modification increase space and allow you to install larger front tires?
Nope. The Camaro/Firebirds are usually limited by the inner fenderwells, frame and sway bar.

@@squidusn71 That would be a question for the tech department, a bit out of my wheelhouse for a media guy! 877-470-2975!
Or you can buy RideTech shocks and you just have to cut out the tabs in the spring pocket. If you cannot weld.

My QA1 is a lot easier. No cutting or welding.
