My husband has been working on my 68 Chevelle for 2 years and he just finished the sheet metal. He can only do with what money we have. I know he will get my car finished
If you want to complain about something being expensive in this video, go check out the price on a Cornwell toolbox! Holy crap for the price of one of those you can build the car the with an unlimited budget! Guess I will never have one of those boxes!
I love the changing out of the front end sheet metal! Like to see the rear changed too. I can also see redoing the engine while the front end is off. But why go full on unlimited pocket book and change out the whole front A-Frame. Most of us do not have the money to do something like that or maybe it is just me. I can understand replacing all steering components (ball joints, tie rod ends, & etc), bushing, and such while the front is apart and put in some handling components but what you are doing is far outside a normal budget. Considering this is suppose to be a poor mans split grill..................I love all your work.
Had to file our new powder coating. Giving rust a starting point. Why wasn’t the holes made big enough in the first place, so even with the powder coating the bushings would fit in place. He should have enlarged the holes before the powder coating or the subframe mfr should have made them bigger in the first place.
I know I made other comments but here is another but when this project started you also said because the real split grills are hard to find and cost far outside most peoples budget or at lease along those lines. Putting in that real fancy front Sub-Frame and Engine is great and you can do that in the project BUT can't you also show us dust bunny pocket people how we could rebuild the old front end using those same catalogs and great after market parts while maintaining a much more friendly budget. Same with the engine. I image that engine you got would cost 15K or so, not budget friendly. You could get a Performer RPM package (435 HP top end) for a 350 from Edelbrock for 3.3K.
Thats the trouble with this show , you will get a new segment and it will be months before another new show comes on and it will be another new project
This episode aired in July of 2017. Its been over a year and they still haven't got back to it, but there has been videos on other vehicles. I really want to like this show but this one as well as others have too much jumping around between projects. Obviously I don't know if these things are being funded privately so work only gets done and filmed when the owner forks out cash or what not, but now days a lot of these gear head style shows give you like a 5-10 minute montage of work, then the rest of the show is trying to pitch products or universities and then commercials.
They've always jumped around like that. Many projects have just disappeared without explanation, even years later. Sometimes there's a good reason, like it's in the paint shop, waiting on sponsors to buy or donate stuff, etc, but who knows when they never say anything about it?
Sounds like the guy with the datsun killed his buddy for the v8 and life insurance and bought a lot of new parts. Case closed. Que C.S.I theme "yeaaaaahhhhhhhhhh"
wait wait wait... so youre telling me i can turn my 1978 Camaro into an 72' RS camaro by changing the front end !?!? did you also need to chamge out the two front fenders too ? pls let me know !!!
No the fenders bolt up. Keep in mind the rear facia taillights and back window are also different on the early cars. But from the front, it'll look like a 70 to 73.
Out of a 22 minute video, only 8:35 shows actual work on the project car. The rest is all plugging products and tools the avg gearhead can't even afford. I know you need to pay the bills with a little advertising but, isn't that why the have commercials??? Cmon guys, get your shit together and get this thing finished already..........or at least arrange it so you stop jumping from project to project and start showing more work than product.
Even though at the sweet setup I think I would rather keep the original Z28 T-top Camaro look with a few brake upgrades as such for what it cost to upgrade this car to a split bumper Style yeah you could have bought I split bumper Camaro
@John Wymer I've got a '72 RS/SS, 350/350 with original Z-28 wheels I had powdercoated. 105k miles, but it's covered on other side of garage. Could be driven but needs a resto. No rust anywhere, CA car. Bought from original owner when he was 55. Any idea what it's worth?? Thx
I've always hated it when they put a 70-73 RS nose on the newer Camaros. If you like the 70-73 RS (like I do) buy one, don't fake it. It looks foolish with the newer tail lights and rear window.
Dude I like the idea of changing the sheet metal out to another year model Camaro but with all the up grades your doing all your doing is building another rich man's Camaro. When the Camaro was known to be the poor man's sports car.. You really need to keep your build projects more down to earth.
Do they really? How so? I wouldn't know because we don't have a Cornwell franchisee in my region. We haven't for 20+years. I know because I talked to a NAPA auto parts representative in my area and that's what they told me. I also have no idea where they are price wise compared to Snap-on, Mac, Matco, SK, or Carlyle. I'm curious to know how they are quality wise.
It’s nice when you have an unlimited budget
My husband has been working on my 68 Chevelle for 2 years and he just finished the sheet metal. He can only do with what money we have. I know he will get my car finished
Theres always a limit.... the limit is less for people at home generally but that's why he is on TV.
@@199jl And he's not paying for it!
ONE Giant Commercial!
Problem with this show is there is 20 minutes of advertising and ten minutes of fabrication.
I was just going to come here to say that. I’m sure it’s lucrative and I get it. But I was looking forward to the content advertised.
If you want to complain about something being expensive in this video, go check out the price on a Cornwell toolbox! Holy crap for the price of one of those you can build the car the with an unlimited budget! Guess I will never have one of those boxes!
Harbor freight has a decent box for us poor dudes!

I also would've added a subframe connector to the Camaro to stiffen up the body a bit
Yeah, almost no one could do that these days. He'll, just getting the car would break the bank for most people.
I want somebody to upgrade cars with junkyard parts. CPP makes spindles to upgrade to corvette c5 brakes!
Since then: SP3C offers full frame goodness for the F-Body that bolts in using the original body mounts and leaf spring mounts.
Subframe is fucking $3,499.99
More than what I paid for my Camaro body!

He's trying to make a 1970 - 72 from the 1974 -81 Camaro I've hope it's done one day
Be ready to wait a few yrs.

He wouldn't be able to show off the free stuff then along with all the insanely long advertising.
It's been a while , are we going to see any more on this car??
Thats the trouble with this show , you will get a new segment and it will be months before another new show comes on and it will be another new project
Hopefully you change out the taillights to the early style.
Me too
That's the plan that was said in a previous episode. But we probably won't see that happen.

That's a cool but expensive subframe! In sure! Now to strengthen the rest of the car!
You can put all those aftermarket parts on the stock subframe. I do it for a living. It’s nice but if you want a bad ass frame. Get a art Morrison
I once was really into stacey's program it seems now like an infomercial
Sounds like the guy with the datsun killed his buddy for the v8 and life insurance and bought a lot of new parts. Case closed. Que C.S.I theme "yeaaaaahhhhhhhhhh"
Will this subframe fit a 75 firebird?
yes it is the same gen 2 design. just have different motor mounts for the Pontiac block
Where's the finished product ? Are these new episodes ? I haven't watched this show in a couple years .
They never finish anything
Those are some nice Fender Flares on the 280 Z, Where did you find em?
It's a pandem kit, rocket bunny.
Don't be lazy. google.com
When is this car going to be finished?
Can they build c3 very frame
How much did all this cost

Wondering what he did with that front nose he took off, for sale??
This was 3 years old when it was posted.

All of that "modern" suspension has been around for decades. Mustang II rack, opposed piston brake calipers, etc.
:(

Good looking out! Too bad it's so little coverage.

A gold bunch of advertising ! Great stuff but allot !
Sub frame ?
Should be half a Frame held with 4 bolts
More...
Less
👍👍👍♥️😍💯💯
That is one crappy sway bar! It's supposed to twist, how much of that twist is being lost to spinning on the bar?!
None. The bar has splined ends.
Is it cold in that shop ..why is he wearing a toque?
He actually thinks he's gonna drive that thing someday...yeah right
Cornwell sucks.
